Has someone already tried to remove the T-Mobile logos from their MDA PRO with a sugar cube? I have done it on my SPV C500 in the past, but I do not know whether the material of my MDA PRO is the same.
SUGAR CUBE ?!?!??!?!?!???!??!?!
Yep, on some types of machines (Magician YES, Blue Angel NO), a sugar cube can be used to remove the operator logos from the casing by "scratching" the logo with the sugar cube. The cube will not damage the casing, but will take off the logo.
I can garantee you, a Magician with brand or logos is very ZEN
Now who will be so brave as to try a sugar cube on his MDA Pro or Jasjar to see whether it does or does not scratch the casing?
I've been wondering this myself. Worked perfectly on the Jam, so it should be OK on the outside of the JasJar, where i-mate is printed on the metal plate. As the inside is plastic this time around I'm guessing that it probably isn't such a great idea...
I'm far too much of a chicken to try it first, and I want lots of photographic evidence of it working perfectly before I let any sugar cubes come within a hundred miles of my new toy!!!
Works like charm.
I have made an attempt on the inner logos as well but those don't come off very easily so I've decided to leave them. The one on the outside came off very quickly without leaving scratch marks.
Anton
thats kewl, i may just take the plunge when my honeymoon period wears off
I tried a spoonful of honey, much sweeter but made the case very sticky.
scratched of mine with no problem
scratch it as hard as you can!
there will be no scratch visible
ive just done mine, AMAZING, was sceptical to start, but as said scratch as much as you like, quick wipe of a damp finger and wheyhey, i had a i=mat so i continued, even when the sugar crumbles just tip off, wipe and scratch again where necessary,
tied sugar lightly on the logo's by the tft to no avail, didn't scratch anything but didnt want to push my luck either
has anyone tried this with the JASJAR?
yer mines a JJ, only did the outher 1-mate logo but it came off a trear
microsoft product trainer at my work place told me about the suger cube and swore blindley that it would work on my BA and even put a wager on it that if it didnt he will eat all the left suger cubes-so on lunch i ran out and got a massive suger cube bag-well it didnt work andhim being a man of his word ate the whole bag- lets just say in the training session watching him latter on trying not to throw up was quiet rewarding in itself
Does anyone know f the sugrecube will remove the vodafone logo from the vodafone v1605.
Thanks
ASZ
hmmm...
O2's outer logo is embossed. i'll need something stronger than a sugar cube X-D
I don't know if it's advisable to try to remove the outer O2 logo - that feels like it's a metal plate (at least to my lips), so you might just foobar it up unless you're good with an aluminum brusher...
V
i wouldn't put my lips anywhere near that, at least whilst it's charging...
Yeah, and the horse is damn ugly too!
V
PS Shouldn't joke, I went out with a girl that looked like her..
works fine with jasjar
worked fine on the outside of my jasjar.
I tried the inside too, but that is not to be recommended. Inside scratches.
ViJay,
Any other places your lips have been that you would perhaps like to share with us?
Joanna, the places where my lips have been are strictly between me and my equine friend.
However, for a sugar cube, I'm more then happy to share these beautiful, luscious, labial lubbers with anyone...

Does anybody know what is the best way to remove the "MDA T-Mobile" print from my Magician?
Well, if the cover is really metal, then you could try using a paint remover and a soft cloth. If the cover is actually plastic then probably the best way woud be to use a light abrasive, like the plastic polish that you can buy to take the scratches out of a mobile phone plastic screen cover. You might try an experiment on small part of the cover in a non-obvious place first to see what happens.
remove t-mobile brading
I read in some german forum it can be done with a cube of sugar!! I thought it was a joke but then I tried it and it worked  Now I just have an MDA without T-Mobile
cheers
Rainer
what do you do with this cube ?
Yes a cube of sugar as you get it in some countries with a cup of coffee! You take this cube of sugar and you scratch it over the T-mobile branding! don't worry, sugar is too weak to leave marks in the cover but its strong enough to remove the colored branding!!! Note: This also works to take away the Orange branding on some mobile phones....
Cheers
Rainer
Yes! The sugar cube worked great! The prints are gone and there are no scratches what so ever!
What sort of nutter thought of doing that!?
My logo removing experiences...

It also worked on my SPV C500!

Hey, he found it an a german forum. Germans have the best ideas
Did you notice that paint that used on the faceplate and probably at the back is very soft? It's very sensitive, in fact u can leave a mark even with your fingernail! I am very, very carefull with it, but still can notice some marks already. Not the end of the worls, but it's only 5 days! Wonder, how is going to look like in 3-4 months of usage.
Looks like that frontplate is metal, so why even bother to paint it?
Otherwise, device is very well buit, solid, without any loose parts etc.

In ur profile says that you have an XDA II anyway ,frontplate is from plastic not from metal at all it's just painted with metal :S, if your talking about the Blue angel device I know nothing about it materials but it will remain plastic as they first created the 1rst loyal xda..
covers
The jam/compact has a metal front cover, metal battery cover and a plastic cover around the camera lens..
Why? do they do that on purpose? lol Save weight?
i think the compact is lets scratch prone then the jam (seems differen paintjob).
I was thinking of having it professionally painted black, but i think the plastic part will cause it to be not perfect.
hmmm
Is the possible metal will block the signal if use it as the pastic cover on the back?
I don't believe HTC use plastic because of keep lower cost or keep lower weight. It's just a small piece of material!
right
could be because the antenna sits there hmmm
would be cool to know for sure
;o)
From all the posts I've seen regarding this issue, it does seem that the MDA Compact has a better paint job. I can't find any scratch on mine, even though I use the case that came with it and some ppl were complaining that it scratches the phone.
(I even used a sugar cube to remove the T-Mobile logo and did not scratch the compact!)
Are you guys sure that the MDA compact is painted differently to the Imate jam?
This is probabky the final issue in my decision on which one to buy. I'm ready to place my order any minute now.
I cannot confirm that. It's just an impression. But I can confirm that rubbing the T-Mobile logo with a sugar cube did not leave a single tiny scratch. I can also confirm that I do not hae any trace of a scratch on the MDA Compact even though it's coming in and out of my standard case all the time!
There are some ppl around who had both the Compact and the JAM. Any comments from these guys?
compact
my compact is also scratch free and i don't use a cover and i am not that careful with my phones ;o)
it is just a gues but when i compare pictures it seems to me that they are different of color etc and they scratch/chip stories are about the Jam..
if a simlock doesn't matter go for the t-mobile one.. is cheaper too.

The T-Mobile Germany ones aren't sim-locked.
I wish I could say I had no scratches....
I had a SDE (small drop event) not long after I got mine....I am just happy everything still works perfectly.......
To be honest, I think the standard case is sh.t as there is no corner protection if a SDE occurs.
I look forward to getting a quality case from pielfarma of vaja or whatever but now I have a nasty scratch. I would appreciate any advice on removing it..????
The idea of pro paint job in a darker metallic grey appeals a lot...anyone know where you can get this done ????

Are you with the MDA or Jam?
iMate Paint Job?
Hi
I've had the JAM since the 8th of December and have had no issues with the paint job. The case is a very basic job which doesnt compare well at all with those supplied with the XDA and the XDA 2 (iMate seem to have cut corners a lot with this particular unit, skipping the docking station and giving us this el-cheapo case, as well as using cheap plastics for the side panels), but I havent had any scratches from using the case. My phone is out of the case whenever I'm static, so thats quite a bit of exposure.
The problem I've had with the device's finish is that the panels dont seem to fit together very well - mine's quite creaky. Definitely doenst feel like a $700 phone...
Cheers

my unit built very well, really feels like a one piece device in fact.
THE PAINT OF MY XDA II MINI IS COMING OFF!!!!
wuwuwuwuu
it's at on the plastic plate edge just next to the stylus.... I think everyone's magician 's paint at that part will come off eventually if you use the stylus....
I'm aware of the Jam and sugar cube method... but the Cingular 8125 is plastic. Has anyone removed their Cingular logo from their 8125 phone?
Thanks.
I wouldent usually post, just to ask someone why they are asking the question that they feel the need to ask... but this is a case where I am going to.
Why would you wan't to risk hurting the Wizard (cosmetically or otherwise) just to remove the logo?
Quite Outta Charicter; Lew
lewcamino, I just perfer the unit to be logo-free especially since I am using T-Mobile and the unit has the Cingular logo. I guess I'm just anal.
i heard about sugar cube method
yeah and I'm gonna do the same thing to the future 8125 on t-mo network, prolly will install qtek rom and add some files to extended rom from mda's ext rom.
I think we all know about the sugar cube method, and it gives you something to chew on afterwards:

However, on a plastic case - hmm, you could possibly use a delicate hand and a very mild abrasive (I recommend Astonish in the UK), or possibly a chemical solvent. I wouldn't risk either personally I've not had good experiences with chemical solvents... My brain isn't work so gud now.
V
on the 8125 the logo is actually stamped into the plastic...
you would have to use some kind of plastic filler sand it down and paint it to remove it...
try links and yes i mean the deodarant
1000 grit sand paper thats what i used.
I've used my finger nail on my MDA, and it has done the job. It will take a bit of time but on a metal surface it is pretty simple. You could try this on a plastic surface as well, it wont cause any scratches. I've done it on a Treo as well and it was fine.
I have a black htc p3600 that is great, everything except the fact that it is a fingerprint magnet. Am I the only that finds himself constantly cleaning their device? I put some egrips on the side of the device and they turned out really nice, they give you that extra grip. I love the black finish but am becoming obsessed with alcohol squares in my pocket for my phone.
switch colours..,,
Too long a tale... I ended up returning my black Trinity to the store, just to find that only white ones remained availble at the time. I decided to keep one for a few days until blacks where available. Finally I stay with the white one, happy enough: no fingerprints, no peeling, quite happy!
I bought a white one because of the paint peel and the finger print problem. I have a Nintendo DS that has exactly the same issue.
The glassy look seems to be in at the minute and finger prints is the price we pay for the trendy look.
I ended up putting my trinity in a silicon cover because i developed a grip problem in my hand. Now I've no problem with the finger prints and stuff. - An ok solution as long as you dont mind camoflaging your PDA in the next best thing to a condom
The silicon covers are a great product, cut just nice for all the important access holes and the button shappes are well replicated. I ended up slightly enlarging the jog dial hole though.
I still hate the greasy marks on the scren though, particularily after a lot of phone use!!
As the dog is dead, the bark stops.
Sillicon may be a solution, but only in the way of keeping the Trinity value for a resell,,, it's like having a Ferrari and keeping it covered to avoid paint scraps..... Com'n!, Some things are designed to be exhibited! I-pods, Ferrari, Trinitys.... stick with Siemens phones otherwise.....
Hi,
Excuse me but a pdaphone is not a piece of moderne art, it's an electronic device...with a lot of coms and software utilities... It might be a lot beautifull but not to venerate like a catholic icone...
Personnaly, i use a Piel-frama leather cover for shock preventing and that's all. Il like my 3600 for wath it make for me and not for it looks like...
silicon skin case
i always use silicon skin case as i change my phone evry two month i like to keep it clean for resell lol
I originally bought the silicon cover because i have MS and have a grip problem with my left hand, the silicon cover sorts the prob.
Before I purchased it, i found myself giving it a wipe now and again. I even used alcohol wipes too.
Yes its a phone / PDA and thats what we bought it for. BUT why cant it look good as well!!!!
I used to walk around with a brick of an XDAIIi to my ear and took some serious stick. So now I've got a half decent looking phone that works well - hapy days!!!
The clear silicon cover only takes a wee bit of the look off, but its worth it for the function - keeping it clean, gripable and unscratched ready for sale when I upgrade next.
The Piel frama cover - good piece of kit.
I put it in my pocket and walking around rubs it clean, ha ha
I tend to destroy my pdas. no resale for me
wear a glove to hold ur Trinity ! haha! just joking.
i usually will use a microfibre cloth to clean my Trinity, works well to take away the fingerprints and oily surface.
I use monster iClean to clean it, and use an ipod sock when i put it on my pocket.
No pun intended...

Not icon-centric, but I know people trashing 500€ worth of electronics every 6 months just for keeping the phone "free" in the same pocket as keys, coins, etc.
On the other hand, I myself am the type that keeps every plastic bag coming in the shipping box for months.
However, when I got my Trynity, it has been the first HTC device in a long time (it's my 10th HTC device) that I can show to friends and not looking just a "friky". Trinity is a lot on the i-pod side, this is what I meant (not for the catholic icons....)
Piel frama enclosures, as the one shipping on the Himalaya.. (anyone here remembers?) made me feel ..... well, strange, with about half a pound of a gadget in my ear.... Bluetooth stack never worked well in the original model.
My grain of salt: carry whatever you like, but being shiny and clean at the same time is near impossible. So.... enjoy the envious gazings at your Trinity until the i-phone comes out!
I wanna paint my Wizard. It's got more wear than a 50-year old prostitute. Can anyone give me some tips as to protecting the screen, buttons, and camera lens as well as using a certain kind of paint? Thanks.
I have also been thinking of doing the same and downloaded the Wizard Service guide thinking I would disassemble, paint and then reassemble. I did this in particular because I also hoped to fix the slider which has become loose and the wizard opens on its own and sometimes gets stuck when shifting between potrait and landscape. But the process is just too much to handle and will need heavy studying of the manual.
Befor you should know how to put your mobile in parts. It's explain on this website :
http://www.ce4you.cz/articles/detail.asp?a=263
good luck
Well I was just thinking using masking tape and spray paint of some kind; no dissassembly required. But fixing your slider problem... maybe should be put in a separate thread.
And yeah... these parts are very delicate. I wouldn't want to dissassemble this thing.
I really want to paint my Wizard too, I was thinking about painting the whole thing black. I'm not afraid of taking the device apart, but I have doubts about the paint. Isn't it just gonna fall off like the oruiginal paint did? What paint are you going to use? Please update this thread if u succeed and tell us how did you do it (and what paint did you use)

I would think that if you painted then put a shieldzone on it would protect your new paint nicely. Any thoughts?
there was a previous thread in the upgrading section, i think it was "badbert" who posted a ford GT look on his wizard, and he even included tips, how and what he used
opps sorry, it was the clear case he painted, but check it out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306568&highlight=badbert
lol - without disassemble the wizard will look like a piece of sh**. In addition you have to know something about painting. Its not like just spray with a cheap can of paint. After two weeks the painting will be of.
I know that because i've painted a lot of stuff (like cars, PC's and so on)
I started off with an Audiovox SMT 5600 and bought a dummy phone on Ebay for $8.00. Took apart both and used the dummy phone's casing and it turned my Audiovox into a brand new phone.
Maybe you could find a dummy Wizard or a Wizard with a broken screen on the Cheap and use the casing to bring yours back to snuff?
Now I have the HTC TMO Wing -- You can buy the battery cover back door on Ebay for around $10.00. I bought two of em. So now when I **** up the finish - just replace the door which essentially half the phone.
