Working Software on Universal: - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I actually got my Universal yet (thanks to o2's delayed release) but I thought it might be useful to have a thread that is *only* a list of what software is working, so that other members of the forum can benefit from your experimentation.
Thanks in advance for everyone who contributes! So all you guys lucky enough to have a Universal, please list the software inc. version that you have fully operational:

Ooops... I did try searching... clearly I'm not up to the job!
Thanks for the link...
And Mods feel free to delete this thread since it's pretty much redundant!

Good work...and...
Hi Buzz,
I'm been away from the forum for a good few months and I'm very pleasantly surprise by your excellent work.
In fact, after reading through the few threads on WM2005, I'm now the proud owner of a revitalised XDA2 with WM2005 v1.60a installed.
The only pet peeve I have is that Maction Monster Chinese and the likes don't installed well on the system anymore. I've a geniune need to read Chinese on my PDA phone, and I can't do it anymore with WM2005.
One approach I can take is to be patient, and another approach I can take is to ask you for a favour to join some other top brains here to figure out a good solution.
Obviously, there are mixed reports that certain patch like fontpatch.CAB, chinapatch.cab works for previous v1.50x versions. It would be some registry tweaks, or memory allocation issue, which your expertise would be sorely needed.
Cheers,
Henry

I saw Asukai thread on wince.nls. Great job there as well. I've tested it, and concur with AzN_devil that the Chinese-specific region settings cannot be seen in the Region Settings window for v1.60a. He claims that it works on v1.50h though, i think.
Nevertheless, I made some more tests and I can read Chinese display text on Word Mobile. Unfortunately, Chinese e-books still come out with gibberish text.
If you can shed some light on this mystery, I am sure the community continues to owe you yet another big favour.

Seriously, guys, the "HTC Polaris tweaks and tricks" is completely out of control and ruining our Polaris forum. Issues that should be posted in general, or that deserve a new thread are all being posted in the tweaks and tricks thread. It has over 890 replies as of date! Its impossible to read, and a lot of good information and good answers to questions are getting lost in it.
Please, please, can a moderator lock just extract the original tweaks and tricks and lock the thread.
I've even included a poll so that we Polaris ppl can vote on the issue.
completely agree, i follow this forum almost everyday, but I never look there, it's too big a mess for me!!
good idea!
My god please do this!
all the usefull post (of the ts) should be putted in a new locked topic so you get 3 or 4 post with only usefull information!

The thread is a mess, it served it's purpose but has now become too cumbersome: remove the sticky and let this thread drift off into history.
As said above, we need a new page with the final list of Tweaks and Tricks, to be locked and linked to from the Wiki page.
The Polaris part of this site is completely amateur compared to some of the other areas I been on before - it's like it's still being treated like a beta product rather than the full production product it is now. Lots of people are running around developing different versions of the same things with very minor differences and no one wants to collect and document things in any standardized or useful manner. Unless you read every post in every thread you risk missing some valuable setting and having a system which can't do everything you need.
It would be a dream to have a wiki page with links to official roms, cooked roms, radio roms, utilities, tweaks and issues; with every thread linked from the wiki being no longer than one page in length. Strict enforcement and removal of off-topic posts would help.
It's great that everyone is working on developing continuously improved versions on a theme but if nobody builds-up the knowledge base around it then most of these efforts won’t get to the people who need them.
agree with you guys .. at 1st I found it useful because I knew where to look (at what pages) if I wanted to find anything .. now If I wand to find some new tips I have 2 read the thread for 2 days to see there are no new news.
If you could do something to improve the meaning of that thread if would be GREAT. If not, close it and remove it from "sticky" threads list.
cheers
IMO the thread is still useful, I vote for "let it open"
Why don't U just use the board function "Search this thread" to find your
solution?
I have to agree to Lock the thread - even though im relatively new to the forums i have been coming here for a very long time.
Additionally its not just that thread but a couple of the others too. TAKE BEPE'S Rom thread / and Udk - You have to go into them to see if any updates have been carried out - Bepe's says 0.65 , however 0.67 is available. New rom should = new thread!
In general it needs a clean up.
Thread is very usefull, but has become monster. It contains many usefull tips & tricks (as intended) and a lot of questions which are obscuring answers. I'm aware that without questions there would be no answers...
As I altready suggested there, it needs cleaning up... and there's no way you can search "iGO", for instance...
well guys..!
Who can make new thread ?
If some one here can make new thread beter than old one.I will lock it
Cheers..!
It voted for close it. I think a Tips and Tricks thread should not contain questions. Only the answers to questions, asked in other threads, should be put in the Tips 'n Tricks thread, as a kind of summary. Else it should be called the Ask-Everything-You-Want-And-Write-Anything-You-Like-In-This-Thread-So-It-Becomes-Unfindable-thread.
why do we even need another thread? can't this one just be closed and we use the forums as normal, creating a thread for an individual subject as and when we need to - I don't see the point in closing it just to start another one...
Someone could create a wiki out of the old thread and leave it at that, or just leave it there for peeps to look at/refer to when needs be.

Is anyone working on porting the drivers?

I wanted to know if anyone of the great ROM-Cookers or somebody else is working on porting the Kaiser 3D drivers to our polaris?
No driver port yet, moderator attention required !!
There are few threads out there on this topic. I even asked udK if he has the skills and time to implement this into his ROMs ... waiting for his reply.
I also wanted to start a poll on Donation for Kaiser's video driver port, but noone seems to second that, yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2446896&postcount=628
Please check here for Polaris Video Driver Issue

This thread is way too long to get appropriate attention ... we should start a new one and hope for a moderator to make ist sticky in order to get more attention.
it got an update right now for fullscreen on Kaiser !!!

You also asked udK in his brandnew GER R5 Diamond ROM, where I also thought it would get more attention
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411208
hi,
i support you in any way, but
first of all it makes more sense to let the developers finish the drivers for the kaiser, as there is no official 6.1 update for the polaris yet.
the fully drivers takes more time to develop and as soon as they got nearly finished, its maybe the time the polaris gets its official 6.1 update.
the official update is somewhen in august expected.
this is a developers forum and you can do with your time what you want, so feel free to investigate time in porting the htcclassaction.org driverset to polaris.
dont forget to contribute some respect for the real developers behind the drivers.

i try to report it updates as fast as possible. its a sticky. all who are intresetd in this issue to solve can read.

Thanks for your reply manaaa
Thank you for your reply and also especially for updating your thread on this issue

You as a senior member probably know much more on this development than any other Polaris user within this forum.
You are perfectly right on letting the developers finish for the Kaiser first. Do you have close connections to the original developers or do you update from the Kaiser forum? I do have serious respect for these developers.
The thing is users get really confused and contents get obscured/not managable to follow up on this in different sub-forums. That is why a sticky thread in "Polaris upgrading etc." section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=399 is useful from my perspective.
I tried to forward other threads towards yours. However this really needs a developer/ moderator attention.
Unfortunately my coding skills are not good enough for really contributing to this except trying to focus and channel the requests to get a critical mass towards this.
The drivers from Kaiser Forums are not working with the official Polaris (o2 orbit 2) WM 6.1 ROM!!!!
A member of the ppc-welt.info community had access to the offical beta of the polaris ROM and he tested the driver version from the 22. of july.
I hope the version from the 29. July will work!!!
thanks
P.S. do you think porting will be made by a cooker or can only the guys from htcclass.org port it to our polaris?
Any news about it?

hi,
sure it would be better to open a single thread that has the port-from-kaiser attention.
i'm actually just keeping you updated in the general polaris forum.
i'm in no relation with the real developers behind these drivers, but as an informatics student i recommend to wait for a full driver they develope. i for my own dont want to re-invent the wheel while modifying.. but in other aspect it could maybe help the real developers.
in the case there are some genius polaris developers out there and want to look into the issue kaiser-port..feel free to share your knowledge!
as nushrike answered me .. 'get a ddi from kaiser working' then it could/would/should work. but that is cooker-related.
i for my own tried to cook some stuff and it made me nuts sometimes. im just too busy to investigate more time in it. as a sidenote, you may see some usefull app with alot features in the hacking and development section soon. but even this lil project has no priority.
im aware of the beta-tester in the german ppc community and asked chainfire for what files we would need to look into, but no response yet.

Well, the rules to abide by in this forum...Hope to keep every member in there safe.
Use the Smartphone General forum for GENERIC posts, hacks, tutorials, questions!
If you have a question / tip / hack / trick also applicable to (most) other Smartphone models, please PLEASE post it to the brand new General Smartphone forum. Few Smartphone users check out the forums of other Smartphone models and, therefore, your questions / tips / other stuff will be read by a LOT more people if you post it to a general forum than in just a model-specific one.
As has already been pointed out, everything should be posted to the new General forum that isn’t ONLY related to the particular model. Some examples of what should be posted to the General forum and what should stay in a device-specific one:
* posts like “the HTC Opal has a very bad-quality Camera" should stay in the device-specific Opal subforum because it’sonly the Opal that is affected by this problem. The same stands for problems with the bootloaders of a given model or specific ROM upgrades, ROM versions, unlocking etc. only applicable to a given model (and nothing else).
* posts like Live Messenger CAB’s , OpenVPN hacks hacking etc. should go to the General forum because these hacks, information etc. can be used on (almost) ALL Smartphone models.
* if you have a question that you feel can be answered by other Smartphone users, do NOT post it to a device-specific forum, but to the generic one. Generic questions are “What Web browsers should I use?”, “How do I configure my e-mail client?”, “How do I install Flash on my device” and so on. ONLY post questions like “What about ROM version X.Y for Smartphone model XY”, “How do I enable HSDPA in model XY”, “Where should I get WM6.1 for model Opal”, “I have problems with the Camera of my Opal”, “My Opal’s buttons are hard to press” – that is, questions you’re absolutely sure about belonging to model-specific forums.
Also, make sure you continuously monitor the forum because I’ll post a lot of brand new Smartphone-related information in there.
Again and again,
1. POST ALL your questions / tips / hacks in the General forum if you find it can also apply to / answered by the owners of other Smartphone models
2. frequently visit the new forum for new tips / questions and, last but not least, my tutorials / roundups
thanks to Menneisyys for the rules...

Good little phone
Yes, the Opal might be a bit older, but I have found that it is a great little phone especially when you upgrade the ROM to a WM6.5 or greater.
It doesn't have a large screen or isn't as fast as some of them out there, but if you don't have a data plan or don't do much on-line and want a good Pocket PC / Cell Phone it works just fine.
And I for one will be happy to help Pajerm get another Opal.

Regarding the "mod status", this should also be a bit "clearer" in their profiles, especially when beeing mad/angry/confused/worried/speechles about what he (the mod) has done

I therefore will kindly and with all regards ask you for the reason why you closed this thread? I also hope that with this post that you will consider to reopen this thread again, because many users benefit from Sir Sternas capabilties and fabulous ROM's. The accusations that he would use Warez and/or using apps without permission of third parties are based on nothing at all. Therefore I would ask you kindly to reopen this thread,

Hola Chris,
I am very sad you had to close the thread and it would have been highly appreciated if you could have informed us & OP sooner about this acusations, or at least a hint.... or maybe even consider "in dubio pro reo" - meaning that clear evidence has to be provided by acusation THAT the acusation is right.
"Presumption of innosence"
I asume, and please forgive me if I do so, that "It has come to our attention" means that they have been informed that suposedly..... For me this means that the above stated company has not presented any proof for this, but I do understand your position and fully agree to comply by xda rules stating this, even though as you wrote, there have been only two (one from another xda member, and then from the company, thus ONE) out of how many downloads and users of Artemis ROMs?.
I´ve checked back with OP "Sternas" and got confirmation from him, that everything was
a) OEM / ROM software
b) Own software also from his company "PilotLogic"
Since there has been no direct answer from the OP regarding this acusations, and also no "proof" from what I´ve read in your honest explanation, I would very much appreciate you keeping us informed about the outcome of this incident and consider re-opening at least the thread for discussion and support of users.
I also would like to thank you for your "delicate" answer and do appologize if my postings have not been correct towards your person or position.
Kind & honest regards, Ber
@ all Artemists, dear Family and Friends, please, if you post, make no reference about the acusation stated above or any "asumptions" on who this could have been. Let xda and Sir Sternas clear this issue first - understandable reaction by xda rules and also not a confortable situation for any involved - meanwhile show your/our support for Sternas´s excellent work as well as this great community xda. Once everything is cleared and settled, we know what to do

Hola Chris,
I am very sad you had to close the thread and it would have been highly appreciated if you could have informed us & OP sooner about this acusations, or at least a hint.... or maybe even consider "in dubio pro reo" - meaning that clear evidence has to be provided by acusation THAT the acusation is right.

XDA is investigating the claim. I will reopen the thread for the time being, but the links need to stay off until we can clear this up. Hopefully it is a false claim. Thanks

Totally agree with BHS Interceptor.
@noellenchris , thank you for reopening the thread.

Muchas gracias Chris Since I´m a polite person I ran out of "thanks", but tomorrow I´ll save two for you
I think it wrong when i look at all the software of the company and compare with the ROM. (Artemis knowing the best if he use it.) But we all trust The XDA Team to see in it. Vsuite not on the ROM. http://www.nuance.com/for-business/by-product/vsuite/index.htm
Quick! Quick! Someone made an accusation! Lets not bother informing the target! Lets just shut down the thread without an explanation untill a dozen or so people complain!
The bloody internet, making ******* and whimps of webadmins,,, fear the takedown notice above all else !!!
The modern day chicken licken

I've had 2 reports that this rom being distributed contains paid software. After the first PM to the OP, I was told all the software was licensed and ok. The second report here:
Hello.
I am a representative of Nuance Communications Inc. It has come to our attention that the user, "sternas", is distributing our copyrighted work without our prior authorization. We ask that you immediately cease and desist all further distribution, of our Vsuite 4.0 software. Please remove all download links to our copyrighted works.
Thank you for your cooperation.

So I've closed the thread until this situation is rectified. We have to protect XDA. So until clear evidence exists that this rom does not contain the above software it will remain closed. Sorry for the inconvenience in the mean time. Hopefully we can reopen the thread soon.

I understand the position of the XDA Administration but I think this kind of reaction is a mistake. Don't forget XDA is what it is because of the developers and we should care to protect them as much as the forum itself.
You received a claim from a random user (but we all know who that is) and another one from somebody claiming to be a "representative of Nuance" - no name, no proof... nothing. Anybody could have copied the contact information from the Nuance website and use it as a mail signature. Anybody can send anonymous mails from [email protected].
Just like BHS Interceptor said, the presumption of innocence principle would have been a better choice in this case. Even if the claim proves to be true (which I highly doubt) I still believe this was a mistake to be learned from.
But if it's indeed a false claim, I'm afraid The Fool had the laugh of his life...
