Telephone Operator Change - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

hi all
I currently have a xda 2 with WM2K (1.60c), at the moment i am with O2.
I will be changing to one of the other main ones (execpt 3  ) what will i have to do to make it work with anyone of these providers (i dont care aobut the splash screen)
Any help is apprciated
Neel

You just need to unlock your phone, it will then work with all providers. You can enter gprs settings manually. There is no need to flash the phone.

just unlock it and put in sim.
You might want to set correct GPRS settings & voicemail number under speeddial 1
Mine works with T-Mobile (original) and Vodafone (using dual sim adapter)

Unlocking it to take payg sim from contract

Please could somebody tell me whether or not i can unlock a XDAI to take a payg sim, from a contract one!!!!!! and if so how it is done please
If you are staying with the same provider with your payg sim then there is no need. If you wish to unlock to another provider you can try xdaunlock, xda manipulator with serial cable or you can install the special edition rom.
The thing is with that Cruisin-Thru is that when i try my o2 payg simcard i get no signal and the network does not recognize the simcard, having talked to o2 they say that because it was a contract phone it cannot be used as a payg phone....
You can stick both a standard or Online (Genie) P&G SIM into a XDA1 & it will work perfectly fine until you go to access the Mobile Internet via GPRS (which isn't possible on P&G). You can still use the Mobile Internet over GSM though (including MSN Messenger). The only settings that need to be changed after changing the SIM is the APN & username for the GPRS WAP & the Message Centre number.
I would take a look at your SIM before the device as no modifications are needed to the hardware such as unlocking to use a P&G SIM in them.

Need help coverting my T-mobile MDA to Cingular 8125

How do I go about converting my T-mobile USA MDA to Cingular 8125??
I currently have the latest rom that was downloaded from t-mobile's website.
I am very new to this so any help will be appreciated!
Thanks again!
The 8125 has a different case and keyboard, so you won't be converting your MDA to anything. I think your saying that you will be using your MDA on Cingular's network.
First, you need to unlock your phone. Carriers lock phones so you can't use competitors' SIM cards. Search this forum for Lokiwiz, a program that unlocks your phone.
After inserting your Cingular SIM card, call Cingular and ask them for their data network settings. After changing the settings, you're done!
Phone is unlocked already...I did that about a week ago. I maily need cingular settings on my phone. like sms and gprs and also Internet.
This is why i just wanted to upgrade my rom to cingular 8125 rom if that is possible. becaus if i do that then I wont have to chagne any settings (at least that's what I think) but i m probably wrong.
Let me know when you get a momento!
Thank you!

As long as you have CID unlocked it, you can use the Cingular ROM.
What do you mean by CID unlocked???
I can put my cingular simcard in my phone and it works fine...does that mean my CID is unlocked???
It just means that your phone is SIM unlocked. Do a search of the forums for a how to CID unlock. This will allow you to put any of the other carrier's ROMs on your MDA including the Cingular one. However, you don't really need to put the Cingular ROM on your MDA. I have an 8125 and use it for my Cingular post-paid plan. I also have a T-Mo prepaid SIM that I use occasionally. I have different GPRS settings that I use to connect to the T-Mo GPRS data service and everything works fine. It sounds like you just need to alter your GPRS settings to register on the Cingular network.

Cingular - APN Name loading off SIM... anyway to load off Network?

Hello!
I'm really annoyed that I can't get my unlocked 8125 to display the network name off the network; right now it is forcing all the network names to show up as Cingular i.e. retrieving APN name off SIM instead of off the network. On my old MPx220 back in the day, I had it setup to retrieve the network name instead of the SIM name by using an unlocked ROM and forcing a PIN on the SIM to come up upon bootup. However this trick isn't working on the Wizard. Does anybody know the registry key to modify it so it retrieves it off the network? This happens with all the Cingular SIMS I've tried, as well as all the ROMS I've tried "including Qtec and IMate stock roms". Thanks!
Bump - anybody got any ideas on this?

Orange SPV M600 - GSM Dial Up Modem settings?

Hi Guys,
OK, here's the situation. I have an Orange SPV M600. I have an Orange SIM card inserted that has *NO* GPRS functionality (it's my corporate SIM card and they've locked down GPRS for everyone).
What I'm trying to do is dial up to the internet using dial up WAP. What would be the settings for these? All I want to do is be able to maybe send and receive POP emails on the device and maybe slowly browse the internet occasionally.
Any ideas? What would the setup setting be? ANy contributions gratefully accepted
You mean you want to dialup using plain old CSD? That would be easy if that's the case - just setup a new connection and punch in the number of the modem pool of your ISP, and that's it. You got 9.6 baud, unless you have HSCSD - but given that your company locked down GPRS....
normaly WAP also use the same "modem" as gprs
and the diff betwene real grps internet and wap is
handled at the server side depending on the AP
Changed my mind...dual SIM is now the solution!
Thanks Guys
I came up with a different solution though. A Dual SIM adapter. One for my workplace SIM and I'll buy another PAYG SIM with the cheapest data charges and switch between them when I want to make data calls etc. Seems like an ideal solution However, that opens another can of worms....
Which Dual SIM adapter do I get? It has to fit the SPV M600 (HTC Prophet) and I like the idea of being able to switch SIMs whilst the unit is online but I understand these ones really drain the battery. The other one, I understand, does not require power but to switch SIMs, you have to power the phone (or is it unit?) off and on again. Hardly an elegant solution!

T-mobile (unlocked) ish to Orange

I have just got hold of a HTC HD2 that was on the T-Mobile network.
It was supposed to be unlocked but when I turn the device on , I still get the T-Mobile banner
Also, when I go into change the networks, it only lists T-mobile, no Orange listed. Also, 3G option is greyed out!
I currently have an unlocked Touch Diamond 2 with v6.5 on it with no issue and can do all of the above
The HTC HD 2 does seem locked down on the T-Mobile network
Anyone got any advice??? Thanks
unlocking the network wont alter the installed rom in any way. The tmo rom will by default be trying to use the tmo network settings (including the tmo proxy).
Personally i'd try the following
1 - settings - menu - all settings - connections - connection setup
or
2 - do a hard reset and let the phone pick up the connections from your orange sim
or (my personal choice)
3 - flash a non branded rom and let the phone get the settings from your orange sim.
The T-mobile ROM doesn't have the connection settings like the wwe rom.
I think you'll either need to flash the wwe rom or change the connection settings manually.
Does the phone pick up a signal at all? it sounds like it could still be sim locked?

part of the ROM, won't change because you unlocked it

Confirm.
My workmate had the same problem. Got unlocked HD2 (ex o2) and started using with Vodafone SIM. He couldn`t get 3G working at all (txt and voice working properly). Flashing new ROM helped. 3G working on 1.66 WWE stock and all the cooked ROMs we were dealing with.
After flashing new ROM, put your SIMcard in, and at start you will get a list of about dozen carriers to choose from, pick yours and the phone will download itself all the settings required .
