Greetings,
I assume that many of you know Hattrick (http://www.hattrick.org)!
For those that don't know, it's an online football team management game, like CM for the PC's! Addictive, to say the least!!
For those who know it, for sure you know that there are hundreds of applications for offline managment of your team, but there's not a single one for Pocket PC. The reason for this is simples: this is not allowed!!!
As a developer, I got in contact with the GameMasters to request them to change rule #13 that stats "Applications for mobile phones and PDA's are not allowed, yet.", without great success...
So, I made an online petition for them to remove this useless rule! You can find the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/htmobile
Please read it, and if you agree with it, sign it!
Thank's for your attention!
Greate initiative!
It would be nice if they changed this rule. However....
Furthermore, Hattrick has a paid SMS warning system that could easily be replaced by such applications running on mobile phones and PDA’s with Internet connectivity capabilities!

You have stated exactly why this rule is in place! If you could run mobile HT software there would be no income from their SMS service. Why would they ever shoot themselves in the foot by removing the rule and destroying their income?

Ok, you're right, but that does that guive them the wright to set this stupid rule?
Can anyone tell me how is it possible that Hattrick used to work on my P1i and not on my X1 ? Is there a way to bypass this ? User agent or something ?
signed even though i dont know any thing about it

Based of the IIWPO solution initially meant for Wallaby devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2526), I created a customizable installer for Himalaya:
See the Wiki page on IIWPO

Hopefully IIWPO suprises a lot of thiefs!!!!!
This is way too cool! I really love this software. I hope never to have to rely on it but just to know its there will make me sleep better. Thanks.
Wow!
The link doesn't work, but... there is or could you do something like that for the PDA2K?
Thanks!

Edsub,
I am wondering if the already excellent IIWPO could be further enhanced by a simple but witty add-on. I am imagining the capability to receive a Kill-Signal via SMS. If all attemps to recover the phone fails because the person who holds it has not put in a full & proper owner name + address we still have a phone number right? Therefore we can send an SMS to the phone at will. If IIWPO listens for a specific sms subject line then we could instruct it to disable the phone in some fashion that can be reversed and display a message to this end "tell" the thief to return the phone no questions asked etc. If still no luck then we could send a signal forever killing the phone. Am I watching too many spy movies? ;-)
Hope you like the idea. Sounds fun to me. Regards
I like the idea  , but since am not a CE developer (and I did not develop IIWPO either, just put the parts that were there together for use on a Himalaya) I have no idea whether or not this is possible.
Maybe any of the real xda-developers see a possibility here :?:

This is possible, and was used on an HP Jornado 928 ...
On this handset, a simple SMS containing a specific codeword or PIN would 'lock' the handset so that it could not be used. Quite useful and as far as I know unique to the HP Jornado 928.
Anyone know any different ?
Cheers
Mark
wow!! this would be great for the PPC! ive tried something like this in my symbian NOKIA 6600! and its very useful!! if you change the sim the phone will automatically send a message to your predefined numbers containing some info on the current location of your phone... and if you send a code to it thru SMS it will lock up and it cant be used unless you flash it or something.. i bet the PPC version is even greater!! cant wait for a full version!

I would like the facility to electrocute the new "owner" through the ear when he makes a call, 50,000 volts would be fine. Or maybe a spring bolt that would activate and shatter his jaw.
Perhaps the local police station...

My wife lost her handphone to some dishonest fella who picks it up and perhaps remove the SIM/off the HP.
Perhaps we can have it SMS your selected police station on startup and replay an SMS with your customised message:
"Yeah baby! I've stolen this handphone and there is NOTHING that you bloody incompetent slobs can do about it! <vulgarities applied here>!"
<repeat 100 times>
In my country, we can have different numbers for neighbourhood police post. The SMS will be repeated as a robotic voice message to the LAND phone as well.
I can at least ensure that the message does not go into a generic 911 number.

well that is entirely possible!!! and that is a damn good idea you have there!

Hi guys,
First of all i wanna thank you all for making great apps and themes here.. Got to love it!
I work in finance, and uses my phone to check news, stocks etc. I just love the Bloomberg app for iPhone, and hope there are/will come something simular to this for Diamond/WM6.
Here is a review of the app for iPhone;
http://www.macworld.com/article/134571/2008/07/bloomberg11.html
Does anyone know of such a app, or could this be something to look at?
Sry for my bad english, and thanks..

unfortunately it doesn't work for diamond.
it should support 6.1
or can it be problem with the rom ?
Is there anyone that has actually used this app (bloomberg winmo) successfully
I have also installed it on the HTC (touchpro), but it doesnt work - cannot find any reviews or anything even related to the use of this app anywhere
Something wrong with Bloomberg app
Installs on Diamond successfully, however for some reason it fails to recognise my login/password properly. Am left with front screen only.
Another idea would be to try http://mobile.bloomberg.com if you insist on a Bloomberg interface. Many other providers (Yahoo, Quote.com, Reuters, etc) also provide their own versions of same thing.
A good implementation (based on Yahoo data) is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441204

Even if they developed the software bloomberg for winmo, you will not be able to use. you will need to be bloomberg anywhere account user, which will cost u a subscription free of mayb 1k per month? (called and checked with bloomberg) normal login don't work.
On the other hand, Iphone is giving the bloomberg app for free. Honestly speaking, I think Microsoft really have some major catching up to do. The Application for Iphone have far surpassed microsoft. and their application is really neat and cool. yahoo have abandoned all project to develope winmo application, but focus to develope iPhone app.
Even google mobile app is a shortcut to mobile view webpage. OMG, I'm quite disappointed with my winmo in this aspect.
If anyone can use the winmo bloomberg. please let me know how you did it. how did you get pass the login / password page.
is there anyway to make the sms menu/inbox thing look nicer? something to replace it i dont want an app unless it runs fairly smoothly
Also looking for one that looks nice! The default SMS looks soooo windows.. Anyone?

I officially have to 'LOL' at McAfee and users of their software (no offence). The 'iwindowssoftware' (aka Vito software) site is completely safe and so are their downloads.

Interesting that it makes you laugh. You'll have to beg my pardon, but I'd rather put my trust in a big company that has been devoted to protect against viruses and malware for years than in two forum members that tell me - by making posts containing a capitalized "lol" - above website is safe without any proof.
Having said that, I know mcafee is not air-tight, no "anti"-virus program is. It's proven to me that it's much better than nothing, as it has succesfully protected my computer (and those on the network I'm on) against many small threats over an extended period of time.

Back on topic, I'd love to see a good sms replacement application, the windows outlook is so damn crappy. Even TF3D is just a shell, which still uses poutlook. I've already replaced my calendar (although that is again, a shell, but fully functional), wish I could do the same for sms and e-mail.
I don't think that'll show up though, poutlook is completely embedded in most ROMS (and I'm guessing fairly hard to take out). So who'd go through the trouble of creating it all over again, mozilla maybe?
Sorry, but do not trust McAfee. Or you will be lost...perhaps you already are. It often prduces false alarms.
Try G-Data, AntiVir Premium or F-Secure.
Here is a Total Virus scan of the SMS-Chat exe.

Looks clean to me.
Thanks

Hi,
This site has been recommended to me as THE place to come to if u have PPC problems. My issue is that I wan to hide my SMS from others and even filter them so certain contacts get hidden automatically.
Is there any Freeware app available or code you guys can make to deal with this problem. Please go easy on my with the Acronyms... I just about got TP2 but stuck on Manilla...
So can you guys do anything for me?

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will receive good adice. Just for future reference try the search function where you will find what you are looing for as well as other useful information.
As far as the software you are looking for I too wanted this software but could not find a decent freeware program. I found a program called Secret SMS from Handago which kept other eyes away from my personal messages.

If the b*tch could stop snooping around with HIS business he wouldnt have to hide it. j/k
That is honestly the funniest thing I've read today (above).
I, too, want this software - and am not afraid to admit that I want it because an ex-gf or two text me every now and then and I'm sincerely afraid that my pure-blooded german wife would snip my nads off with a rusty butter knife if she saw them. Luckily my phone auto-locks every 15 minutes per a government pushed security policy - but if I left it unlocked after doing something - that'd leave her 14 and change to find something, read it, and locate a suitably dull knife.
You can try this: http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/SMS/Ez-Secret-SMS-59592.shtml
It costs money, but there is a trial you can test.
Well i lost my phone on sunday, my fault but still verry annoyed. I tried using the myphone advanced features before but they never worked! Would have been so handy at this time, anyway I wasnt insured so I have to buy another one.
Anyone know what insurance companies are good for covering my HD2?
Im hoping someone hands it in, but in london thats highly unlikely
Can't help you this time round; but when you buy your replacement, go the Sprite Backup's website. They are offering HTC owners a discount on Sprite backup, plus an app (better than Microsoft's) called 'Terminator' that tracks your phone on Google Maps, disables/wipes it if you want. It will also send you an SMS if anyone tries to change the SIM card. But it will noy operate after a hard reset.
http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/sprite-backup-htc-special
interesting
now if someone would develop an app that could be built into a custom rom that would (unless disabled by a password after a hard reset) transmit a call log, the current sim number, the latitude/longtitude somewhere we'd have a pretty good chance of screwing up any thieve's plans... unless they know how to flash a rom. (although they shouldn't really be aware that this program is activated after a hard reset so they generally wouldn't know to flash the rom...)

Not sure if it is compatible with HD2, says on there site "Supports all Windows Mobile 5, 6 and 6.1 Phones"
Try this next time...

Also the author offers the possibility to cook it directly in the ROM.

is there a way to stop someone from seeing my info on the phone? I reported it lost to o2 and they said it would be blocked.
The phones gone, i just dont want the lucky sob to see all of my stuff
Will O2 offer to sell you a replacement HD2?
When I was with Orange many moons ago, if you didn't have insurance and lost/damaged your phone they would offer you a replacement (refurbished but looked new) at a reduced price (about a third of the RRP) as long as long as you would then take out insurance.
Just wondering if O2 offer anything like this?
Nope, they just said "We are sorry, there is nothing we can do" lol well something like that.
lol wish there was a remote self destruct on the phone

Did you try to call your old number? Maybe the one who found the phone is honest and will give it back.
when I rang it, went straight to voicemail. this happened all night and into the morning, so eventually I got o2 to block the phone.
I have my replacement sorted now, through my house insurance. (really didnt wanna do that) expensive excess at that! £250!!!
The **** thing about the police, pardon my language is the fact that if handed in I have to check with any police station which it could have been handed in at, there is no centralised lost storage system.
Oh well, you live and learn just hope my phone didnt have as much info as i thought it did!
I might write to HTC see if they can do something via the imei number.
ROM with theft protection.

Since we all will have different "settings" in the anti theft program there is not going to be a ROM that can include a functional recovery system. I would like someone here to teach us to replace our ROM with our current phone configuration, that way we can add our GPS protection software, configure it and replace the ROM. Is it possible?

well, i've not had time yet to read about creating a custom ROM nor the antitheft software linked in this thread but this is potentially the quickest solution.
but what I was envisaging was some form of registration with a webserver, probably based on serial number. i.e. with the software installed after every hard reset it would (when connected to the net) send the sim number and serial number to this webserver, thus allowing the registered owner to find all the information they need to really start messing with the thief. and from the updates on that anti-theft software thread i've seen there is talk of a webserver i think so this is probably the track they are going down...
unless the thief was to steal your HD2 and then not even use it once for the internet but that would be crazy
