New A2DP Discovery - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi Guys,
I wanna share something i found out a while ago.
I am currently holding on to a Motorola HT820 and a BlueAngel and i was kinda playing around with it wondering why i cannot answer phone calls and only can play my MP3's. Here is the solution.
Install the A2DP Profile
Soft Reset
Pair it up to your BT Stereo headset using high quality audio
now, upgrade to build 3900.
Run the restartradio.exe
run the bt upgrade cab file
run the restartradio.exe
Now, pair it up to bluetooth handsfree headset.
This works wonders. It seems to work best on WMP10. I have tried
Mortplayer but, after i answer calls, it stops playing and does not resume.
For WMP10, it resumes fine. I have only tested on BlueAngel and HT820.
I dont have the luxury to get my hands on other devices as yet.
BT upgrade files found here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Bluetooth_1.0.0.3900_Upgrade
A2DP details found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25443
ENJOY !!!!

this currently works best on WMP 10
You can continue listening to music after your call ends with mortplayer,
you have to disconnect the pairing and re-pair again..

XDAII and Motorola HT820
Hey guys,
I'm contemplating buying a Motorola HT820 but I'm concerned that it might not work with my phone - I have an XDAII with WM2005 1.60A installed. anyone know anything?
Thanks and best regards...

Hi
This sounds like what I've been waiting for too.....
I have an XDA II running 2003SE will this work with this combo any ideas?

Good one... will try it later

Has anyone tried with Motorola HS 850???

Has anyone tried with Motorola HS 850???

So far, i have not tried it on XDAII... but i think it should work..

Can anyone confirm if this is possiable with an XDA II as having read through numerious threads on the subject of Bluetooth implementation with various Wicomm configurations, but cannot clearly identify that the A2DP Protocol can be successfully made to work on an XDA II.
I suspect that this can only operate on an XDA IIi or XDA IIs. My requirement is to get a set of Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones to function with my XDA II via Bluetooth, I am not really worried about the Phone Headset function I would just like to hear Audio via Media Player 10.
Thanks

I have just upgraded to 1.40 ROM (iMate) with Orange EXT ROM on M2000. I have radio 1.13 and the A2DP profile loaded.
Everything was working fine with the old ROM and wmp9, but wmp10 does not respond to the pause, back and forward buttons on the ht820.
Does anyone have this working on ht820? Is there a known work around?

Motorola BT820 Audio Gateway and a player
I've followed the steps above and now have the two new profiles and have managed to pair my Motorola BT820's without any problems.
I've read that this works best with WMP10 but since I don't have this I decided to try Mortplayer.
Silly question : How do I get my XDAIIs to send the audio to the headphones ? Their is an outgoing connection between the two but the sound still comes out of the speaker on the XDAIIs.
If a phone call comes in then this is directed up to the BT820's
Help
Jason

i have done over 50 hard resets.. many tries and it seems to be an intermittend prob.

@woodrjh
In this way a HP Bluetooth Headphones and a Motorola HT820 works with my xda IIi in a2dp mode incl. the Buttons in WMP10.
1. remove the RunBT file from the Autostart dir -> softreset
2. Install the PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate.cab -> softreset
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/22475.html
3. Install the HP iPAQ Bluetooth Stereo Headphones Driver Update -> softreset
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/22475.html
If the error \windows\btceavif.dll in use come, rename it with Resco File Editor and try again the driver update.
4. Put the the RunBT file back to the Autostart.

does this method enable your bluetooth headset to receive calls?

HP BT stereo headphones with XDAII

Does anyone tried to connect the XDAII with the new HP BT stereo heaphones with XDAII?
I have this HP device but can not install it.
Bummer..
Widcomm BT Stack on XDAII...
HP BT stereo headphones does work with XDAII (myself and few friends have been using it for a while now). You will need to install Widcomm BT stack (1.0.0.3500 or 1.5.0.2000, or the one that have High Quality Audio Profile) though.
However, you will loose Bluetooth Headset profile if you install Widcomm BT Stack. Apparently BT headset does not work with Widcomm stack on XDAII yet. I've managed to get the headset detects incoming calls, take calls, but still no sound coming out from the headset yet. Still trying...
Interesting. Will check it out and reply.
This is my experience using a HP bluetooth stereo headphone bonded with an O2 xdaII. I use Wincom 1.5 Build 2000 from "dtktvu". So far the setup has worked very well. After having used the setup for three weeks, my impression is as follows:
1. Connection with headset is very stable
2. Stereo sound is clear, quality is quite superb really.
3. So far this setup works only for music, it does not work together with bluetooth headsets (if you happen to have one). This means that you can not use your headset at all while using the headphone.
4. The only inconvenience is that if there is an incoming call during song playback, the music pauses but there is not any other audio warning. On the screen you do get a warning that there is an incoming call, though. So in my case, while I listen to music, if I hear a sudden pause then I know that there is an incoming call and act accordingly. Now, let us come to the next point....
5. You have to use Windows Media Player as the player for point 4 to happen. I am not sure how the setup will react to incoming calls with other players such as Winamp, GS Player etc..
6. Battery life is quite good. I get about 6-7 hours of playtime from the headphone.
Now, if only someone will update this Wincom Driver further so that it can work together with bluetooth headsets, then we will have the best of both worlds... Maybe donations from potential users to provide incentive to some expert out there.

Widcom on XDA II without Windows Mobile SE?
I would also like to use the HP bluetooth headset. I have a XDA II (not IIs). Will the Widdcom stack install on this? I am currently not running Windows Mobile SE.
Many thanks.

where do we copy and paste those keys? do you think this could work with the Magician?

Try MS VoiceCommand - in new 1.5 version there is incoming call voice notyfication (normal ring goes at half of the sound level and voice engine reads callers ID) maybe it will go through UR headset.

Thanks for the pointer, didn't work though.
Would welcome any other ideas.
Will this work on XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS version that has broadcom 3900? I'm planning in getting one.
Need advise...

HP BT stereo headphones with XDAIIi
Hi,
I've read the thread but cannot see any indication of someone using an XDA IIi and the HP BT stereo headphones. Anyone know anything about this particular combination? So far I know the software that comes with the HP BT stereo headphones will not install on the XDA. And without the BT high quality audio profile installed I cannot get past pairing the devices. Any ideas?
Thanks,
R

I am using this combination.
I have HP iPaq BT stereo headset and O2 XDA IIi.
Just did the following.
0 Full backup!
1 Uninstall a GPS software that was using BT Serial Port (GPS tuner, OziExplorer, Russa)
2 Uninstall BT Tools
3 Remove all paired devices
4 Soft reset
6 Install Attached file (warning: with this patch you will not be able to use a HandsFree BT, so if you do not really mind, then continue).
7 Soft Reset
8 In BT manager Find HP Headphones and pair them with password "0000"
9 Start Player and press a cental button on headphones.
10 Then I installed back GPS software and BT Tools.
11 Check thet everithing works fine, make a full backup.

headsets
I have three stereo bluetooth headsets here for testing purposes:
- Logitech Wireless Bluetooth MP3 Headphones for PC (aka Hewlett Packard FA303 or Toshiba PA1831)
- Motorola HT820
- iTech Blueband
I have tested them on my Qtek 9090 (BlueAngel) and they all worked fine. There is not much diffrence in audi quality, the diffrence is more in the comfort of wearing them. Most of my collegues liked the Motorola the most but I prefer the Logitech. The iTech feels a little bit cheap...
More experience and info about stereo bluetooth headset is posted on http://www.robertwebbe.nl/A2DP.html.
Has anyone connected headphones with XDAII? i can't at all( after installing broadcom 1.5 phone cannot call correctly, i can't hear anything(
I have a iMate PDA2k EVDO & iTech BlueBAND headpones. I was able to use use the BT headset to use the phone however as the Broadcom 3500 stack didn't come with a Audio profile I couldn't hear music (mp3s via WM10). I installed Broadcom 3900 stack - can now hear stereo music but the volume on the phone is so low I can bearly hear it. Otherwise my PDA is stock standard Windows 2003 WWE etc. Any suggests? As I am a new owner, I would appreciate the help. Cheers,
Hi
I have recently received a Blue Angel from our mobile provider and it comes with the Bradcom stack 1.0.0.3900.
Does it have A2DP integrated, or I need to install anything to make it compatible? I am interested on a Motorola HT820 headset and i want to make sure it will be compatible...

Handsfree versus headset
Hi,
I tried and first thing, everything work now as fine as before so a first good point.
Second one problem : my Bluespoon AX is only recognize as a Hands-free and you can only set "Audio redirection" for Headset.
Perhaps some registry work ?
I will continue to investigate
very nice patch indeed..
installed it on my JAM... an it runs OK...
some extinsive testing is required however... I'll let you know later
Thank you kevinyang6688
If this works, you'll be the best
Works here aswell!

INstalled it but I have no clue how to make it work. Been to the BT settings and everything is there but I have no clue to as it does not detect my my Jabra BT250V.
Will this work in actually turning my Jabra into an audio headset or is it only as phone headset?
Does this help at all with the Nokia car kit echo issue?
Cheers

Man, you seriously kick a$$! This cab adds A2DP, FTP (successfully sent a series of 3 files to my Magician   ), Audio Gateway (was able to use my laptop as a BT handsfree ), BT Printing Profile... AWESOME!!! Takes MS BT stack to a whole new level
But you could already send files with activesync over bluetooth without this stack (do i suppose ftp service is the same thing). Btw can you acces the files located on your computer from your mini now??? (if yes plz tell me how)
As far as I am concerned, it works but doesn t change anything with my bluetooth headset and voice command, i always don t hear any voice command sound in my bt headset, but then I hear the phone conversation directly in the headset...so nothing has changed.
Would have loved so much to hear and launch voice commands directly from the headset's mic.
But thx anyway! that s a really good thing for us anyway =)
It does work with I-tech S35 Stereo BT Headset
As per subject really...
Just tested this on my 1.12.00 T-Mobile Rom and indeed all audio is indeed being re-directed to my headset. Only 'drawback' is that I can't get it to work with PocketMind Pocket Music- the sound it just muted.
But it works perfectly well with Windows Media Player. Slight hitch with WMP is that I am unable to change the volume on the software or indeed the JAM system volume directly- a minor fault for me since I have a volume control my headset Also the music seems to cut out for a second or so every 7-8 seconds.
Music pauses and restarts when an incoming phone call is received.
A massive thanks goes out kevinyang6688. Cheers mate, I have been wanting this for ages! Thanks again!

HP bluetooth headphones

Has anyone been able to make these headphones work with the wizard?
I have searched forums but cannot find a solution.
Hp do not have any drivers to install onto wm5 operating system.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
you don't need drivers. Just use search to find the cab update en use them.
I've just received mine: they work perfectly!
just bought a set, Help
:?: Hello, I just bought a set of these off ebay, have t-mobile mda vario flashed with the cingular rom. I am reading your posts, but cannot figure out what you are talking about with the cab update. my device finds the hp headphones just fine, but there is no usage choices listed, how do I get these things to work? is there an install file I can download? Please help.
HasC,
I've got the Logitech one and they are the same as HP.
Power of the headphones and keep pressing the power button until the led flashes red.
Then you can connect it to the wizzard with the usual 0000 pin.
Did it with mine and it works.
Cheers,
Drifter
thanks for reply, but pairing not the problem
Hello, they paired just fine with the wizard, but how do I tell the wizard to play the audio through the headphones and not the internal speaker?
Drifter, you the man!!!
Mine is working beautifully now, your instruction to wait for red light to flash solved the problem.
Thanx
totally confused now???
Hello again, They are paired, but there is nothing listed in "Services to use from this device" List, is there some software or driver I need to install? is there some menu choice I need to select somewere. Please help.
jappetto,
I am also using the cingular ROM, all I did to make them work was to follow Drifter's example on pairing them. Once they were paired it just worked straight off any audio player that I used, eg Mort player or windows media player, WM allows me to forward tracks as well.
I really dont know why you are having trouble, try removing all bluetooth paired devices from your phone and pair the headphones first. This may help
Still confused
"cab update en" sounds like software I need to download. am I using the wrong rom?
tried deleting all and pairing headphones first.
sees them but there is no services listed to use. how do you tell media player to play through headphones? does it happen automatically when you turn yours on? or is there a button or command I am missing?
read all about the A2DP update in the Tornado forum as well as the A2DP threads here before you start to use your headsets. You will need A2DP to make these awsome HP headphones work to their fullest abilities.
Japetto,
I am using this ROM:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP.exe
It has A2DP settings configured already.
When you pair the headphones with this ROM installed, make sure your volume is not on silent on phone (should adjust automatically) when using headphones. If you are using WM player and cannot hear sound through headphones, press round connect button between the volume and track forward/reverse buttons ( the same one used to pair the headphones). this should establish a link with the headphones and start working.
No other software/drivers are needed to make them work.
Hope this helps.
ive got the normal tmobile uk rom...would it work??
what its the quality of sound from the headphones...when compared to the headphones given with the MDA Vario
also could someone direct me to a link where i can buy them from
Thanks
I'll Try it
thank you HasC
SBouri,
No, you need to change ROM so that it is A2DP compliant, at present t-mobile have no ROMS for this, mine was originally T-mobile ROM.
The quality of the headphones are fantastic, they are better than vario supplied ones because they are wireless and I have had the phone upstairs and was able to listen from kitchen downstairs, occasionally there was some interference, but close range, worked seamlessly for me.
HasC, fair enough mate..ermm i'd rather not upgrade my rom as i dont want to take any risks which will turn it into a brick
i am a techi but the phone doesnt give problems as other people post about..so id rather just keep the current t mobile rom
thanks for the reply though

You don't ned to upgrade your rom to get your stock Tmobile MDA to work with BT stereo headsets!
Just install the A2DP hack.cab found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48535&highlight=a2dp and your stereo headset should show all options for Handsfree, Headset and Wireless Stereo.
I have not upgraded my rom, as I agree with SBour, I *can* do it but it's not worth it to me just yet....
I am using the stock Tmobile Rom, the A2DP hack and I-Tech Clip s35 stereo headset. The sound is lound and crystal clear.
Jaidnoire, nice one mate, will give it a go and ill order the headphones asap...i found a site through kelkoo for £48...is that cheap compared to any other sites you may know of?
Can anyone tell me what the battery life is on the Motorola HT820? As i manily want to listen to MP3s of my Vario
The HT820 manual claims 14 hours for music listening or 17 hours talk time.

bad sound with headset: spv c500/SBH100

I m so disappointed!
I hone a SPV C500 since 2 years, last week I bought a stereo Bluetooth Headset Samsung SBH 100.
I succeed to connect my bluetooth devices with my phone, it’s working why the voice.
But to play the Mp3 on my headset, I installed Bt AudioToggle, and now I have a very very bad sound on my headset.
Is it possible to upgrade something or do I need to change my mobile ?
Please help me!
Thanks
Capjulio
Bt AudioToggle is a hack that sends all audio to bluetooth the same thing happen to my HTC wizard when using this but when using the A2DP profile the sound is great. I dont think they have A2DP for WM2003 SE but if you get it to WM5 maybe there is a chance you can get it to work.
Can u post Bt AudioToggle or a link i can seem to find it for smartphone.
Hi,
i bought a Samsung SBH100 BT headset, works fine with my Asus P535, but on the headset just only volume buttons working FF and play/stop don't do anything. I use CorePlayer (TCMP) on the PDA.
What I do wrong?
Please help!
THX
U can try change the regedit
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:78
"BitPool"=dword:40
"UseJointStereo"=dword:0
"Samplerate"=dword:48000

Possible to send all audio over bluetooth?

I've spent days searching and trying all sorts of tweaks but I can't get anything to work. Can anyone PLEASE help!
I use Tomtom 7 and I've always sent the voice instructions to the bluetooth speaker in my bike helmet (just a handsfree paired item). I've previously done this on HTC devices with BTAudio and a one line registry tweak. Can anyone offer a solution to send all the audio to a bluetooth handsfree on the HD2?
I really hope someone can help, I've got the HD2 setup just right except for this last remaining item.
Many thanks,
i have the same problem...
@noony i think u have already enabled in bt setting the option "manage system audio in handsfree device" if u didnt...try that
for me doesnt work maybe its a headphone problem i see a sort of "fhhh" when any sound is played on phone but still come out from the speeker
another issue... every time i start a call with bt the volume is at the lower level..internal and headphone too! and the last is very strange because with my artemis didnt do

Yes I've tried the "manage system audio in handsfree device" option. I can get some background noise on the headsets (I'm trying with a Scala Rider and Motorola 700 & 850) but I never manage to get any sound.
Can anyone please offer a solution? It's a big disappointment for me if this isn't possible. Any suggestions welcome, many thanks.
My Observations
I pared it with my BMW and for the life of me cant ger any audio (music) over bluetooth ( the phone works fine) I then tried it on a $20 bluetooth earpiece I ocassionally use for the phone and guess what I can play music over it fine.
I tried and tried again in the car but could not get it to work.
I think some bluetooth devices will not work. Is there a different specifiaation for bluetooth ir BT1 and BT2 ??
I havent checked into this yet.....

It gives me some hope that you've got it to work with one bluetooth device. Can you please let me know exactly what you did to get the $20 bluetooth earpiece to work?
Thanks,
yeah that was my idea but without a stereo bt device i cant try to myself...i ordered to vodafone one with some of my tons of points...3 weeks and no answer!
I had the same issue and on my old phone, the HTC Touch HD, I used the following program to my satisfaction:
BTAudio
On my HTC HD2 however this doesn't seem to work anymore. :-(
it does the same thing of the inbuild bt option on hd2 its just a "quick link" to place on the bar
anyone of u have any problem with bt device volume? before i have an Artemis and 3 different device i used the device volume was every time the one i choose...now every time a new call starts phone volume its right but device volume jump to minimum level and every time i have to press + button like as i'm playing videopoker to dont miss fist seconds of a conversation
Works fine with Jabra 3030, all audio over it, music, system sounds and calls.
Maybe it's only working for bluetooth devices that are setup as stereo. Can anyone please offer a solution here?
I've installed a 6.5 rom (dutty v7 - thank you) on my HD and after a sprite restore (level 2) bluetooth audio divert works fine. Although I notived that the bluetooth options remained the old settings (possibly due to my backup restore) and the divert was done using the BTAudio. Sorry to keep asking but if anyone can shed light on this.
Is it possible to tweak the HD2 so that audio can be sent to any bluetooth headset/handsfree or is there some hardware limitation that stops this from being done?
I've tried every app and tweak that I can think of! Please can anyone help, even iof it's to let me know why this can't be done.
Thanks,
its what we all are trying to do......now i think its only a bt device problem...if it support bt2.1 and a2dp with edr seems to work all good....
i solved in car with headphone in the box...but bluetooth should be much and much better without any cable that always have to remove nodes (its the right word? sorry if not hehe)
I'm connecting to my HD2 using Jabra Stone, an A2DP headset. When I selected the stereo headset profile on the HD2, it redirected all system sounds to the headset: reminders, SMS alert, soundtrack for videos, audio player....except phone ring. I used BT Audio over a non-A2DP headset before with Diamond2, but the ausio is very poor, and the connection drops very often. Since I changed to A2DP headsets, the Diamond2 and HD2 supports it out of the box - no hack needed.
So look for A2DP headsets if you want to redirect audio.
Thank you to everyone that has helped with replies. I've now got my answer. If the bluetooth device supports A2DP then it works! (just won't work with mono etc)
I've now tested my HD2 with over a dozen bluetooth devices ALL A2DP enabled headsets regardless of if they are cheap or expensive!
Thanks again for everyone taking the time to help.
I have an LG HBM-220 bluetooth and cannot put audio to in, only phone calls!
How can i manage to do it?
I blame it on the stupid Widcomm Bluetooth stack... If the HD2 used the better MS stack, BT would play nice with with more of our periphirals and apps
I can't use MSVC properly with BT either....
the solution is to go to the bluetooth settings, select your device and connect the stereo audio connection.
Way back, Microsoft decreed that ONLY the phone app could use a mono BlueTooth headset, although any audio could be redirected to a stereo A2DP headset.
In order to get around this you need to fudge the sytem with something like BTAudio or TekSoft's BlueAudio.
The latter worked on my XDA Orbits (1 and 2) but does not work on my Touch HD with Dutty's R6 ROM (WM 6.5) possibly because BlueAudio requires the Microsoft BlueTooth stack and I suspect Dutty's ROM has the Widcomm stack. But I could be wrong about that.
BTAudio sort of works on my Touch HD, but outgoing audio is speeded up like I've been breathing Helium.
So no current solution to yet another idiotic gotcha from Microsoft.

Hmmm. When I conect via gprs to youtube aps I can hear the voice in my mono headset (jabra 2020) but via wifi and computer as modem voice is only in phone speaker. So maybe we should look gprs or youtube aps reg tweek.
Guys
i have a nokia HB-100 headset and i'm experiencing all kinds of strange behavours
sometimes system sounds including music ...etc get directed to the headset and some other time it just directs calls no matter how hard i try thru soft resets or unchecking then checking the "play system sounds ..." option!
very strange, any insights about this? is there a tweak to go with or is it a known WM defect?
