someone to install rom

i have orange m1000 which is just showing serial/usb v1.03
i have tried everything i feel able to but im not that comp literate and dont want to make a bad situation worse.
is there anyone out there that can reinstall any rom onto this handset for me or point me in the direction of someone/business that can do it.
would prefer in midlands uk but anywhere in uk will do.

Buzby, get the original rom for your device, follow the instructions for flashing from desktop and I think you will find it will work. If you cant do it send it to me in Cheltenham I will try it for you, I also have an spv m1000.

First off, state your problem, second off ALL CAPS IS TOTALLY ANYOING.
To check if your Device is locked, pit in a different simcard (so not a simcard from the same provider but a DIFFERENT one). If it asks a unlock code it's locked.
Second, installing WM6 (probably) requires your device to be CID unlocked.
(here comes the irony) Look up a topic, or use to search function on CID and you'll find allot of ways/solution to un cidlock your device and be able to flash it with whatever rom you want.

If you want to find out if your phone is CID unlocked, download Wizard Service Tools, install it on your computer and then click the CID actions button and it will tell you if you're CID unlocked or not.

Is my second hand Orbit CID Unlocked

How can I tell if my UK O2 Orbit is CID unlocked? I bought it 2nd hand and told it was sim free does this mean it is already CID unlocked? All I know for sure is it works with an orange and virgin sim aswell as O2!
I ran the Artemis_USPL prog which gave me a white screen then disconnected me from A,Sync I had to remove the battery and replace to get my phone back so couldnt run through the rom-burning process that followed.
I am hoping to replace my exsisting O2 rom with the Touch 3.01 full but the last thing i want is to end up with a brick, any advice appreciated

No need for CID unlock
Hi coolin,
there is no need to CID-unlock.
Just follow the whole USPL-procedure. The white screen
on your Artemis and the disconnection of activesync
is normal during this procedure.
Every time you want to test a ROM: perform the USPL-procedure.

Sorry for sounding such a noob but I went ahead and tried to burn the touch 3.01 and after 3% it cam back and said the image file is corrupt! it rebooted my PDA but thankfully all is fine could this be a one off shall i try again?

Ofcourse you should try again, don't give up so soon.
But everything you do with your device is at your own risk.
I'm using Windows XP and never had any problems with flashing. For Windows Vista there is sometimes an extra exe-file included in the ROM-packages to write the ROM. I'm not sure about the USPL-procedure.
Have a read thru thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403 to see if it is wise to use Vista for the USPL-procedure.

OMG DUDE and Holy Sh~T you rock!!! its sorted and its like having a whole new Artemis on steroids thanks a lot for your help its mucho appreciated.
tbh I did noob a little I wasnt letting the 1st procedure enough time and although I did it with XP im sure all would have been ok with Vista.

Newbie To Mda

I just got a TMobile MDA, and am brand new to this. I tried upgrading thru TMo site, but couldn't get Windows Mobile 6.0. Still have ROM 2.26.10.2; Radio 02.25.11; ExtROM 2.26.10.105. Anyway, I tried SNN Ver 2.o off of this site and it wouldn't upgrade. Any help from anyone before I start looking through site. Just looking for direction and a helping hand before I fry my MDA. Thanks to one and all. Looking forward to making great use of the site.!!!

You will need to make sure that your phone is unlocked before you can proceed with any upgrades to wm6
Check out the Wizard Wiki also - lots of great info
Remember - you are on your own, you are responsible for any issues with your phone. But, if you read the sticky posts here, and on the wm6 wizard board - the directions, while extremely detailed - are right on.
Read, understand, and when you are ready to proceed - do not skip a step, and if the directions tell you to flash something, or upgrade something twice - it is for a reason - do it twice.

Download WST tool and run the 'CID Action' button,it'll verify the CID lock/unlock status of the phone.

You install it on your pc - and it will read and diagnose your phone through the usb connection.
Read through the attached post - lots of info, download the file - and good luck

actually i bought the phone from ebay and it didn't come with sync cable its 8125 from at&t is there another way to unlock it somehow maybe. Please help me

You can't upgrade without the usb cord and a computer (you can, but it is far more difficult.
First you need the USB cord
Then You need "Wizard Service tool" Type that in to the search engine on this forum.
Then read the stickies (the ones at the top of every forum) related to the wizard
hint: Faria; Dr. Puttingham.
Then search wor the "Wizard service manual" which will explain how your the wizard works and has IMPORTANT information for you in case you screw up and have to put your Wizard into bootloader mode manualy. You can still recover even if it looks really bad.
Then you need the lockwiz tool that works. I'm not sure that the wizard serice tool will unlock the phone, I did it the hard way before discovering it.
Then you need a version of WM5 that has a hacked IPL and SPL 1.5.xxx (you willl find that in the upgrading and modifying thread on the wizard forum
Once you downgrade; you can use the WST(maybe) or Lockwiz (most likely) to unlock your device (you may have to run it twice or more if you are not paying enough attention)
After the phone is unlocked you should upgrade back to the 2.26 version (Tmobile rom)
Then you should know how to flash roms by then.
Getting the thing unlocked is the difficult part. The cooks make flashing easy. You will probably not be able to yse your device for about a day while you make sure that you follow all the steps making sure that you get it right.
also read all of the directions well. I know it is a lot of information and can be hard to swallow. idoubt that you will "Brick" your wizard. It might seem that way at times; especialy while you are flashing the rom as it take a long pause sometimes right in the middle of it and it's scarry. You should be able to recover just fine. (I have a TMo MDA and it was built far better than I think HTC intended to build it)
Lastly. Take the plunge when you are confident that you have all of the tools, Information, and contingency plans (such as the 2.26 version of tmobile rom)
Word of advice while you are looking for an upgrade: All ROMs have "issues" so if you read all of the posts on a rom that looks good to you, you will see that a lot of people are complaining, asking for improvements and so on. This is what you should use to chose what you want to put into your phone. If you start a thread "which is the best Rom? expecting that the information will come to you; you won't get far. I know that my "join date" says one thing, but I have been looking at this forum since august off and on to see if I should even make an attempt or open my mouth before I figured out how things work here. Heard a preecher say once "God helps those who help them selves" and while I'm not partcularly religious, I have to agree with that kind of policy.
good luck, and don't panic if something unexpected happens; in about a half hour you will figure out how to fix it... unless you panic and loose your head.

To unlock through lokiwiz02b tool,it must have direct physical connection between phone and pc via Activesync. Although,its possible to Activesync with BT(BlueTooth),but not sure if unlocking is possible,according to my understanding,it shud be possible,as all the data can be transfered and all the info can be exchanged via BT,there shudn't be a problem,but as I have never tried it myself,I can't be sure,its certainly not possible to flash a Rom with BT.Rom is flashed in Bootloaders mode only,and in bootloaders,Bt doesn't work,so flashing of rom is only possible via usb cable connectivity.

Everyone keeps saying "the USB cord" when the actuality is, "A(ny)" USB cord will suffice. Any USB to 5-Pin (Mini B) is fine. You should be able to score one from a local electronics source for less than $10 US. Considering their value to you (being able to use ActiveSync, being able to flash the phone), I'd say it is a sound investment in your future fun with the phone.

I have got a bricked HTC ELF with a tri-colour screen.(red, green and blue). I did try matty.exe and found that cid is locked. g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = FF
I dont have the original firmaware backed up. and could not find anywhere on this site and internet.

Is there any way to find the original rom or is there any way to unlock the cid and then just put any rom on it? I dont have the working pda or wm device to do goldcard method. I know there is way to do the goldcard method without the WM device but then I need a desktop or laptop with a PCI or internal cardreader installed whereas I have got a usb card reader.
can usb card reader do the goldcard method without the wm device?
any suggestion will be appreciated since it has been almost 3 years for me to get my device back to life.

Hi mate,
All info you need is in the stickies and /or using search function. You need to unlock cid and flash custom rom. BTW tri-colour screen is called Bootloader.

I can answer to the card reader: as far as I know it has to be an on board reader, otherwise it masks/hides something with the cardid.

I wouldnt hand around for too long waiting for someone to upload the stock firmware, it may never happened to be honest.
Do you know the original operator for the phone? It is possible, at a push, that it may be lurking on a website still, just hard to find. That could possibly yeild a result, hopefully.

What's the damage if he tries all the roms, one after the other ? If there's none, gogagogi might get lucky

His phone is still CID locked. I guess it could potentially be a brick. I think, that or it won't let you flash the rom at all. I forget which - been a while!
gogagogi: Have you tried seeing if you can flash ipl/spl from SD card - never been in the position you're in so just curious.

yes it is cid locked. I did try to flash few stock roms which I thought similar to the rom I have got
on my device through usb data cable but no luck. after 2% or 3% is says invalid vendor ID. then I tried through micro sd card but same result.
then I tried unbricker rom through usb and micro sd card but same result.
even I tried to change the vendor id through a softerare called xvi32. that is
a hex reader. open the .nbh file and change the vendor id but the result was no good. it said " the file or image has been corrupted"
and I never tried to flash ipl and spl.

it was on T-mobile NL.(netherlands).
I did have a look at the link u sent it to me.
after reading it, I found out that Microsoft ActiveSYnc has to be green first.(connected).
whereas it can not be connected, if the device is stuck on bootloader so this option has gone too.
the only option so far is, either I find out the original rom or if I can find out some matty.exe commands which can help me unlock the CID so that I can put any rom.
matty.exe is working fine so far.
so what do u think?

When in bootloader does it say RUU at the top right? And does it pick up USB connection? Have you tried to flash via SDCARD the IPL/SPL roms?
I have a job, a daughter, and a live out side of XDA. If I do not reply to a thread, it means I am thinking, have missed it by accident, or am simply just too busy. I do not get paid to be here, I am not a moderator, I am just a member like yourself, I do not expect to get private messages hassling me to reply to a thread.
The Elf isnt even my main device. I use a HTC Hero (Android), and have done for quite a long time now. I look in here simply to help out other people who are still using this device.

well it does say ruu text at the right top corner and it does say usb at the bottom.
as I said it does connect through Matty.exe.

OKay, as the ruu is there, you should still be able to flash a from that point - I have done this a fair few times.
Have you tried the IPL/SPL yet?
