After upgrading to a new ROM-Version i´m not able to restore the backup to my device I made before I updated.
The problem is that I´ve got urgent SMS in that "backup-file".
Question : in which database are the sms stored and how can I access it ?
I already have utils like Pockt db Explorer and STGViewer but I don´t now where to search for that SMS either which pc-programme is capeable of reading that databases.
Would be great if anybody can help me..... this is my last chance...
Best regards,
Jendrik
well, there might be a solution .... although it's not
very brilliant, I presume you do not have many databases on your machine ... if you extract them one by one and look for a symbol string most possibly you end up with correct result in 15-20 minutes total ....
I would use Pocket dbExplorer, at least this is the software I used to

let me know if you have succeeded

good idea, but....
The Backup-File with the data-files is on the PC so I need a program to edit/read/export databases on the pc.
Best regards,
Jendrik
hmmmmmm, is it possible to extract those databases ??
from the backup ?? or in other words what is the file format of your dbase on PC machine ..
regards, monika
Backup-File
The backup-file is the file which is created by Active-Sync.

Please, I need your aid.
In my Movistar Tsm500 (XDA2) I have installed the ROM 1.72 and successively I have reinstalled the backup with my programs and my previous configuration.
Now everything works normally.
But it happens this: At starting WindowsCE two warnings notify that they are missing this files:
- BPInsert.exe
- SMSReceiver.exe
Both files reside in the folder \Windows and I don’t have them.
Also it happens that I cannot accede to the Telephone Settings.
The phone works, only voice communications, not SMS sending and not SMS receiver.
I believe that the entire problem resides in those two absent files.
Somebody can do the please send me this files?
It is vital for me because the XDAII is a work instrument.
Thank you very much from Madrid, Spain.

I found 7 large files in my Windows dir. All begin with "MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft..." Size of files is the same - 2.71 Mb.
Does somebody know - what is this? Do you have the same?
Yes. Everybody should have these files. If I'm right, it's cache files created by MSMQ, that is used to send and receive messages in POutlook.
and is there a option to move them to the storage card ?
well alot of us dont use poutlook..
so can we remove them some how???/
thanks
...what do U use instead of Poutlook?... :?:
Regards,
Primoz
no you can't remove them. Many of us would like to, and quite a few have tried, and none succeeded, to the best of my knowledge. They are a part of ROM that is loaded, and no file from ROM can be deleted from the device directly. Indirectly I can't comment on, due to lack of knowledge...... sorry, and good luck!
According to M$, the file size on those files are misreported and don't take up nearly as much space as reported. And since they're part of the system, don't mess with them or your system might become unstable.
As far as I know, it's cache files. So I doubt they are in ROM (don't see the interest of a cache file in rom). MSMQ is responsible for handling asynchronous tasks, such as receiving or sending SMS, MMS and so on. So these files are necessary, even if you don't use POutlook (except if you don't use the GSM part at all).
Hi guys,
First of all, I'm really new to this(learning all the time!) as I just got my O2 mini 2days ago from ebay.
I have a problem whereby my phone doesn't have smart dial function. I've spent hours reading the threads and trying but to no avail.
Can anyone kind ppl out there help me pls?
FYI, under "device information/version/ExtROM version" section is BLANK. Is this normal?
Really appreciate anyone that can help me out. Thanks a lot!
You can download and install the cab file attached.
Thx Zerimar!!!
But I toy around more with my phone I realise that my phone doesn't even have the ExtROM installed at all! That's main culprit for those missing functions. I don't even have MMS function installed
Can you kindly share with me a complete ExtROM that has all the preloaded softwares?
And also can you give me so simple instructions on how to put back the ExtROM in the phone (I'm really new...)
Again, really appreciate your help!!! Thx man....
I suggest that you keep your Mini the way it is (with BigStorage ROM). The advantages are;
1. You can choose which customization software from O2 to install.
2. 27MB is gained for installing 3rd party software, ie. Navigationi softare, Destktop enhancements, etc.
Before you upgraded your Mini, did you keep a backup of the original ROM and/or the Extended ROM? If you have a backup of your Extended ROM then all you have to do is to copy the .CAB files you want to the SD card, main memory, or storage and to install the .CAB files just click on them from where it was copied to.
If you don't have your Extended ROM backup, then I suggest you go to this forums ftp or wiki and download what you need. I don't have the complete Extended ROM .CAB files since I only keep what I like/need. Secondly, my unit is a generic since here in Switzerland we can buy the units without any contract, or when we renew our contract, we can get a new phone but usually it is a generic model. Out of the 3 providers here, only Orange SIM locks and makes customization to the units.
If still you prefer to put your Mini back to its original form, then all you have to do is to flash your Mini with your ROM backup (if you have it), otherwise download from the ftp any of the latest ROMs available.
Very good advice here.... makes me understand more now.
Ok, I agree with you to keep it's current status now.
I did not upgrade my mini, I bought it new from ebay, thus there is no backup ROM or ExtROM available.
I'm not able to use this forum's ftp. This is how I try, I paste below link in IE,
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician
user:xda
paswd:xda
I'm denied access. Any idea on this?
Thx...
by the way, Switzerland is really a nice & beautiful country... Love it!
In your first post you mentioned that "device information/version/ExtROM version" section is BLANK, this somehow indicates that the Mini is configured with BS.
Check using File Explorer or via Active Sync. If you see a folder called Storage from My Device via File Explorer, or My Pocket PC via Active Sync then it's configured with BS. The other way to find out is to do a hard reset by pressing (and keep pressed) the Camera+Power button while pressing the reset switch. Note: This will eventually erase all your data. Be sue to backup first. If you did a hard reset, then at some point in time you will see that something is being installed automatically, meaning no BS.

As for downloading files from the ftp, you should be logged in. The link you attached works perfectly for me. You could also use a ftp client software like CuteFtp.
ps. yep, CH is a nice country but quite expensive. If my memory serves me right, Zurich is the 3rd most expensive city in the world. I guess the only things cheaper here are the Swiss watches, Swiss knives, Swiss cheese, and Swiss chocolates (yummie)
Hey... it's working now! Thx to you, hehehe....
So far so good after I manage to pull out the ExtROM using cuteFTP. Now in experimental mode to try out different stuffs.... getting more interesting.
If I do encounter any problem, I'll post again and hope you can help me once more
I miss the Swiss chocs.... yummy (especially white ones)... hopefully I can go there again soon. Btw, love the Swiss army too!
You're most welcome. Whenever you need help, continue posting on this thread or pm me.
Hello, first I want to excuse me because I don't know if this topic already exist, I searched but I didn't find
I wanna install Android in my HTC HD2, but first I need something to transfert from Win to Android, my contacts and my sms/mms!
For contact I already have a solution, using a Google Account, but I don't know what to do for sms/mms, and it's very important that I do that!
I hope you can help me to find the right app for this migration
Thank you so much, greets
Looks like this helped many people:
http://android.riteshsahu.com/tips/importexportmove-sms-messages-from-windows-mobile-to-android
I have used Sprite Migrate before:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/Great-for-You/Migrate/Migrate-Your-Data-Now/How-To-Transfer
but the beta is over now and its not downloadable. One could still use it by temporary shifting back the system date of the device (1 year backwards for example). There are 3 files you need: the CAB file for WM to export the data, EXE for the PC to convert it and an apk for android to import. I can send them to you when I get home if you don't like the method from the first link.
