Is it possible to turn off the light under the phone buttons?
Reg hack or any other way?
It would be nice to be able to turn them off when I watch a movie in the dark.

When using the Universal as a USB modem, although the backlight turns off as per the the setting in "backlight"; the device stays on along with the LCD screen. Since I use the modem for hours at a time, I'm afraid the pixels would get worn out quickly.
I tried to use Window Media Player's "toggle screen" function; but it doens't work unless I'm playing media file.
Any tips/tricks to turn the LCD completely off, while leaving the modem program on?
TIA!
It may sound too simple but when you close the XDA, programs still run but the LCD goes off.
I'd go with the above suggestion, but if you do need, for some reason, to leave the screen open, press and hold the power button and the light should turn off.

When you mean "close", do you mean close the clam shell so that the screen faces the keyboard? How can one be sure the screen is off at that point? The light is off for sure... but the actual screen?
Turning it 'off' (standby mode) by pressing the power button would kill the modem connection.

But I don't just want the light to turn off -- under good lighting, one can still see the screen is still 'active'; and I'm afraid that prolonged usage would cause stuck pixels.
Thanks for the tips from both of you though.
Searched till my eyes bled, can't find anything on this.
Say I'm using skyfire to stream video. I'd like the backlight to stay on, and the phone to not enter standby.
I'd like to toggle this by launching a program - and thus allow me to toggle it using a hardbutton with AEbutton etc. So when I'm done, I can return to normal power settings.
I can't seem to find a program that allows this... Any suggestions? Thanks!

What a cool feature would be within Mobile 7 on the HD2 is the possibility to auto switch on the backlight of the HW buttons when the screen is turned on. And auto switch off when the screen turns off.
Anyone an idea how to do this ??
hoping for that too.. i dont like having the feel around for the buttons at night lol
Hi
I often read ebooks at night with night mode and screen filter set to very dark and when i use the keys and backlight turns on it almost blinds me, it's very disturbing. So i need a solution to disable it for that time. I searched in market but it seems there's no such app in existance. Maybe you guys have any idea?
i think it has something to do with nightmode, probably a bug. even when i disable nightmode i still have to lock and unlock to turn off key backlight.
Hi, how I can disable turning off buttons backlights? I want that backlight is on when my screen is on, and turn off only when I turn my screen off-not automatically like it is default. I'm on WP7.8. Is it possible?
