Softick Card Export! - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Anyone tried this with success?
http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/

Their page lists the i-mate JAM (Magician device) as incompatible as of the current version. I confirmed it for the hell of it - it doesn't work. We'll have to wait.

it works fine with Hinalayas & Magican. but it need either patching of setup exebutables, OR registry fix.

attachment removed. read topic for deitals.

Des it dosn't want to work with my magician WWE 1.11, during install I've got a message "Card Export isn't able to find your USB driver. Please download newer version" and next one "IDS_INSTALL_FAILED" after that once again "Card Export isn't able to find your USB driver. Please download newer version" and "IDS_UNINSTALL_FAILED".

On my MDA Compact I get the same errors as Shamus. Pitty, but prog does not seem to work with magicians.

Koksie, shamus
can you post snapshot of [HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn] from your devices ?

Here are the screenshots you asked for, I had to make it with 3 screenshots to show all the keys onder builtIn. [/img]
Just click on the images ( also if the browser indicates that they could not be loaded) and you get a full screen image.

screenshots ?
why don't you just export registry branch to .reg file ?
ps:
Softick have released CardExport 2.01 PPC, with installation bug fixed.
check http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/
i can't check it on magican now, but if it won't work - post here a .reg (not .jpg ) file, containing HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn , after installation, and I'll tell you what to fix.

After install and unistall Card Export II activesync dosn't work at all

I'm having the same problem as in 'shamus' last post- installed and uninstalled and now activesync is not working.

try this.

Des,
I've got one step further with your download in that it installs perfectly. I can even select the different options- but I'm trying it on a PC without ActiveSync installed and it doesn't seem to be recognising- any ideas?
Thanks.

It's working!!! Sorry for last post.
Hi again,
I just changed the '..native support..' option in 'Preferences' and it works great!!!
Presumably I can still obtain/purchase the serial number from the company?
Nice one Des!!

Thank You so much it works

yes, surely.
this patch doesn't affect registration routines
but I don't recommend you registering this version (I mean 2.01 in common, not the patched one only), because it have some bugs in registration check and after registering it works worse than in trial mode. However you can buy it now, and register after they release fixed version.

technically it is possible, but not via simple patch, so I prefer leave this to developers
all I can say, that on Himalayas Card Export works fine both with internal storage and extended rom (and storage card, of course ).

This is amazing!!! I've been after something like this for years (since I first got a PPC).
This version works flawlessly with my MDA Compact and I will DEFINITELY be purchasing it as soon as the official working version is released!!
Finally, I can use my PPC as a USB Drive without needed activesync

Agreed with Charlie Mouse- full credit must be given to Des.

Des Could you explain what for is the option "use native receive routine"?

ROMkitchen are out of date..... Who wants to change????

Hello XDA users....
I think you know it all, that the ROMkitchen is a fine application to get our device nearly perfect.
But the ROMkitchen is out of date. This means many applications aren´t not in the actual version. Therefore Auburnham and I thought to update the applications.
The problem is, that the amount of added applications to the kitchen is to big to make this happen by us two. Because of this problem I´m searching for some people, which wants to help.
Another problem is, that you need for this a device that haven´t got installed that piece of software. This means that when you want to help me with Phonext for example, you must have a device without any version of Phonext installed.
So, if you are going to help me make a snapshot of your device with the ssnap - Application.
Install the software.
Make again an Snapshot of your device with the ssnap - Application.
Send these two files to [email protected] with inforamtion about the program you have installed and the exact Version you have installed.
When I´ve got analyzed the two files i will reply to you with a wishlist of files that have been created on your device. After sending me the files, i can update the kitchen....
IF there are any quesions or anything else, feel free to contact me....
Regards
Stefan
Good Idea :
I'd be happy to contribute.
Tell me which application you want me to install and I'll do it provided that I find the procedure (that I've seen being posted elsewere in this forum).
NB : I'm using XDA I with a Frenchy 3.16 and be stuck with it  ; so there is no chance for me to re-build a new a geniun 3.16 Rom again.
My XDA is all up and running.
I've overcome my Language FRA error message after purchasing a SD card reader and loading the ROM through the bootloader. 8)
Now, I'm about to install ttn 3 on my XDA. Do you want list it in your kitchen ?
What do you need exactly ?
I would be happpy to help. I am a regular user of your site and appreciate the effort that has been put into it.
I understand the effort needed to keep things working and up to date.

I've sent these snapshots off to Stefan, along with the files that I thought might be necessary for these programs. This is going to be great for all of us, but a lot of work for Stefan. We all owe him a great deal, so take him out for a nice meal the next time you see him.

I don't want to make this any more complicated than it is, but for some programs, it just doesn't make any sense to install to the XDA memory. Most of the media players and "Misc" programs just take up too much unnecessary device memory when they would work just as well on the SD Card (if that's available).
The problem is that those huge programs require just a few small files to be placed on the device itself. So after installing a few of these types of programs, you've used up a lot of device memory from these small files, even though you installed the program to your SD Card.
Is there a way to alter the kitchen a bit to allow cooking of the necessary device files only, and allow the user to later install the program to the SD Card (being careful not to overwrite the files in ROM with files in RAM)?
For instance, with the TomTom program, if you start with a clean ROM and SD card, take a snapshot, then install the program to your SD card, then take another snapshot, you could determine what files need to be on the device, and what files don't need to be on the device, and allow users to either cook the entire program or just the necessary files in the ROM. (Note: This is a good example of a run-on sentence). Would this be a difficult feature to add to the kitchen?

Maybe the esiest Option is adding a new Select Point for the kitchen like "misc", "System Tools", "Phone" ....
This means having the programs double in the kitchen, but how cares.
I don't know exactly, but when you install a program to the SD-Card, could you select the part where to place it?
If yes, this could be a big problem. Many of the programs store the path in the registry.
If no, i could also provide a ZIP-file, where the rest of the programfiles are in, hust to unzip to the Storagecard.....

I believe this really depends on (1) how well the program was written, and (2) if you can install the program with CabInst (i.e. has a cab installation).
For example, I try to keep my SD Card organized and tidy so if I use CabInst I install the program to an appropriate folder on the SD Card. If I have to install the program from the desktop, I install the program to the SD Card root, then try to move the program to an appropriate folder and update the shortcut. Most of the time this works without even changing any registry entries, but sometimes it doesn't. Two examples from the above list of applications are AOL Instant Messenger 2.0 and Pocketmind PocketMusic 3.0. To function correctly, they both need to be in their original installation folders on the SD Card.
But perhaps the best solution would be to have an associated .zip file to go on the SD Card, as you suggested.
Shawn
Now the kitchen should be up 2 date again.
Only missing is PocketConsole and the Part "Software that needs to register"
So happy cooking and again Thx a lot to all users that helped me.....
Stefan
A Windows-way for cooking a ROM would be great for two reasons: 1) Don't hassle your server with lots of traffic and 2) Practical. Advanced users could cook a ROM without having a PC with Unix.
For example I tried cooking the Spanish version of the ROM and not all the programs I chose were installed and the worst thing is that the boot logo was just garbage, it was showing program code on the screen as a logo

Marton

Ok. Fixed the problem with the bootscreen.....
Tried also adding as much application, and all have been installed.
Can you tell me, what files / programs are missing?
No one else told me that there have been a problem wirth this ROM. I think it's because of the situation that most of the useres are using WM2003 ROMS....
You can also use the kitchen under "Windows" just have to set up a Cyguin environment on your system....
Also i didn't know how many Kitchen's are implemented by other users, but mine one is the only "official". You can't believe that everyone would be able to set it up.......
Stefan
Thanks Stefan!!!!!!
Now it seems to work but if EzWAP is selected, it throws a Log error when trying to cook...
Cheers,
Marton
P.S.: Do you know if a Spanish WM2003 exists?
Edit: This is the error:
Cannot fit files in given sections
Error splitting files
Just cooked a ROM... I selected the "Windows Mobile XDA" Boot Screen and now it is not garbage anymore but now it shows mirrored and upside down...
Any ideas?

some of the files you've attached say tmobile on them.. does that brand the phone? will i have t-mobile popping up on every app i open. I bought my jam from dubai and using it on cingular.. i'm also on the WWE rom, just wondering if these .cab's are compatible.
The cab files are compatible with all HTC Magician machines (i.e. i-mate JAM, O2 XDA mini, Qtek s100, T-Mobile Compact, Dopod 818, etc.) and will not pop up any brand or logo after installation.
thanks for that info, i will do these updates in about an hour. thanks again
Are these cab-files ripped of the default install on the windows-dir?
Fonix voicedial is eating a lot of memory of the ppc. The normal installation (downloadable at fonix) can install on the sd card, but the extended rom versions i have seen only install totally on phone memory

EDIT: Of course I found the files on the ftp and succesfully downloaded them with resco. Sorry, should have looked better. Even so it is quite irritating that attachment downloading is not working with Pocket IE

In fact, downloading works in PIE. Just download the file (it'll show as download.php, correct) and then rename it to whatever it should be with the extension that it's supposed to have. Alternatively, when trying to download via PIE, in a "Download" popup dialog tap "Change" and change the name of the file to what it is supposed to be. After your download is completed, use your file explorer to locate the file and change the extension of the file from .php to a correct one.

Aha! Thnx very much for that info mata!
But how does this work?! If I want to install for instance the Camera Wizard to update my camera, where do I have to install it? I asume it has to overwrite the original camera app, or can I really put it everywhere I want? And to make it clear... does this hard reset your device?!

GPRS Monitor

I cannot install GPRS Monitor from myO2 CD, it says i need to update my ROM, i did a corporate install btw
Anyone else had any probs?
Another forum member had this same problem when installing the ClearVuePDF Reader also supplied by o2 as part of the HTC application suite. He has the MDA, but flashed with the o2 Exec ROMs and then installed in Corporate mode.
From work we did together, it appears to be just the install program that was not validating his device. When I tried a hard-reset and Corporate mode install, I had no problems installing. However, its beginning to look as though a hard-reset does not totally clear the Exec's memory. In his case, I found all the individual files and registry settings needed for ClearVuePDF to run and he copied those to the device. Runs perfectly for him like that.
So I'm afraid you'll have to find somebody with the o2 version of GPSMonitor installed and get them to determine all the files/locations and registry-settings needed to get it to run. Unfortunately I don't have a GPRS connection or GPRSMonitor installed.
Just a thought. Have you yet tried a full o2 Personal mode install on your device? It just might be this action that puts 'something' in memory that is not cleared by a hard-reset, and that 'something' might be what the install program is looking for.
Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
No problem thanks for your help

Me too. The ClearVuew PDF reader is rubbish! Text misalighed all over - Adobe with pixel doubling is better than this.
Please try this
Could one of you having a problem to install the o2 supplied GPRSMonitor, please try installing the attached .CAB after copying it to your device.
This CAB is extracted from the CD-ROM install program, so hopefully skips the validation stuff. With luck you might be able to get around the failed validation by installing from this CAB.
Note: Even if asked to install to Storage Card, the o2 supplied version (2.3.0 build 600) puts very little there, most goes into device memory. The current version 2.41 from spb will obey the instruction to install to SD-Card, but wasn't reliable when run from there - the monitoring part aborted four times in 10-minutes whilst I was playing with it.
Unfortunately, since I don't have the install problem, I can't test this install out.
It works a treat. Thanks muchly!

Ouch! I didn't realsie it was as bad as that.
The situation is made worse by the backup program I'm using (Sunnysoft Backup Manager) not backing up all the data and settings. Neither does it perform a true restore - just merges the backup with what's there after the hard-reset.
Unfortunately, I'm used to HP's backup applet from the Jornada 928; which performed a total backup/flush restore. Are there any other applets for WM5/universal that really performs a full backup/restore?
Does anyone have this cab please? I have just bought a new O2 exec and am having the same problem with it saying my ROM version is too old!!
sorry ignore that post! Work computer blocked the file out
I am running my XDA EXEC in basic mode. When I tried copying the .cab file to my device and running it from there , still get the problem.
Any suggestions ?
I was running personal mode then switched to basic mode, could this cause the problem.
Thanks for you replies in advance.
Cannot remove GPRS monotr app
I installed this file to test it out om M3000. Unfortuntely I cannot seem to uninstall it now! It doesnt show up in my Program list - How do you uninstall it?
I looked in the \\windows folder and removed all files and shoretcuts I could find, but its still showing up on my 'today' screen with an error.
Any ideas? The registry?
Cheers

Linuxgeek:
I was also getting the ROM version problem installing programs to my SD card on my O2 exec. Since I'd only just added the card and was running the basic installation, I did the following:
1) Hard reset
2) Personal Install
3) Re-install ActiveSync on PC
This did the trick. Thankfully I like the Personal install best anyway, but I don't know if that step was necessary.
Tried it. Still get the problem :-(
My mistake - I managed to install the Clearvue PDF program, not the GPRS monitor program. I'm still getting the ROM version error with the GPRS monitor program, but I've not tried the above download yet.
Anyone got any other ideas to fix this problem.
Shame O2 don't have an update to fix this problem on their website.
I've now tried the CAB posted above by astage and I can confirm it worked for me. Just copy the CAB to your device and then open it to start the install.

Secure Pocket Phone project

Hi,
I send my first W2003SE application.
This is a free application (it's a beta version written in c#, and requires .NET CF) and is capable to detect a change in the phone owner identity via the next comprobations:
- The user can be configure a list of preferred SIM Cards
If the inserted SIM card is not any of the owner preferred sims the application send's a sms to a configured phone (including a configured text and the SIM identifier of the inserted card)
[Obviously, the application sends the message without prompt for user msessage send confirmation and not stores the sms at the outlook tray's]
[obviously, if the new user inserted sim is a prepay sim and the credit was 0, none sms is sended]
Additionally, the application show's (if configured) a balloon notification.
- The application test (if configured) the value of the Owner identity and if changed sends a sms and / or shows a notification...
Please, test and send me your comments...

hello,
1) i have showed 2 threads in this forum about this problem.
one works with owner data but no with sim data, and another works with the sim, but the user is obly to store a special number at the sim ownered numbers list (i don't have tested any).
this application works with owner user data and stores the valid sim identifiers in a configuration file.
2) in my opinion, the correct usage is:
a) install the application
b) c9nfigure settings
c) copy the application and the configuration file at the rom
in this case, a hard reset is not a problem, ok ?

Sorry, but this doesn't work on my MDA Vario with latest Qtek Rom and OpenNET CF installed.
But maybe my problem is that I use WM5 and not WM2003

It's possible.
I have tested only in w2003se.
I don't have a w2005 pocket...
sorry
That's too bad....for now!
I will stay and follow this topic, would love to see this work on my Wizard.
By the way, does it stay freeware, or are you planning something like a license key, or maybe something like a free donation?

Do you have a Wizard (with WM5), or some device with WM2003?
Tnx!

HTC Home 2.0

Found Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab in the Hermes forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...hlight=Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab
Versin 2.0 allows you to add a diffrent number to favorite People (1.5 defaults to the mobile thus you need to create a new contact to use the Office number.).
Well that is the good news, the bad is that I cant get it to work on my BA
It installs well.
Under Start - Settings -Today - Items - It adds a HTC Home Tab.
The tick boxes work fine (fast as well JOKE).
And on the Today screen it adds Nothing.
I have done a old uninstall, new install, wait, softreset, wait.
This is a patched version based on the thread so may be the clean version would work.
So has anybody got Version 2.o to work on a BA ??
That's v 2.0.720719.
2.0.814.722 is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327646

2.0.xxx.xxx work much better than v 1.5....thrust me.
Are you able to get v2.0.7xx.xxx to work?
You can see that v 2.0.8xx.xxx and v 2.0.7xx.xxx and v1.5.xxx.xxx all using DIFFERENT certificate to sign. That is my experimenting on the certificates thing. All work OK with my Hermes. Maybe it is certificate thing...maybe it is other matter that prevent the new version from working correctly for BA. But really I DONT see any reason other than certificate. You can try to sign the dll with other certificates to see if it work or not.
I only patch the dll to enable instalation outsite of windows directory and to fix the brightness shortcut. Other than that nothing. So, this should not be the issue
Congratulation guys WM6 finally arrived for BA and Hima user. I should have hold my thrustworthy Hima longer I dont have to upgrade, BUT Hermes ROCKS, no regret.
Thanks schen for your input, i have tryed al the 2.0.x versions with the same certificates (looked mainly into hermes forums) provided for hermes, but the home settings show in today options and the plugin just does not load. I agree that this is certificate error i will try to sign them with difrend certificates to see what will happen
regards xplode
Edit: I have tryed both 2.0 versions on clean hard resseted rom with both certificates installed and none ot them does not work for some reason, now i will try to sign the dll's with sdk certificate to see the results
Anyone have any luck with Home 2.0 on BA?
Same problem with HTC Plus.
I think the problem is certificate sign.
Just to let you know that this issues is just not with your devices, we are also seeing the same problems with the Apache running Helmi's port of WM6. It shows in settings, but nothing on Today screen. Have tried certs and signing as well.
However, both 2.x versions work fine with the Titan running WM6. My thought was that there were some remnants from the WM6 port that were still using WM5.
maybe you are right, because i signed all files with one certificate and then with another ans it is the same result
If you guys have install the sdkcerts.cab before installing home then I dont think it is certs problem...it is more like device specific security setting problem
Maybe you guys can take a look at the WM5 security...each of the ROM might have different default setting. Some device even dont allow security setting to be change.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnppcgen/html/wmsecurity.asp
I will also try copying the SampleDevPrevCert.pfx to the device and click on it. It will add the root cert to the thrusted certificate store. It may work it may not but very simple and worth a try.
Bottom line, if you try the "No Security" setting which allow all signed or unsigned apps to pass and the HTC Home still not working then I dont have any idea anymore.
Please try....
Out of curiosity why v2 of HTC home working on certain device and rom and not working on others, I have resigned all the dll, exe, and mui files with my own certificate.
Installation note in the Readme file inside the zip.
I am looking for some people to try if the cab work. As soon as 2-3 report still not working I will delete the attachment.
Test it, i couldn't install at all; "installation of ... was unsuccessful"; thanks anyway Schen.
Now installing, will keep you posted in few minutes
the instalation of the cab is unsuccessful (the home cab)

I tried 3-4 times, but always installation of HTC Home cab was unsucessfull
Hi Schen,
Thanks for your help with this issue. I can confirm DANDANA's results on my Apache (Helmi's WM6 AKU .7) with no prior version of HTC Home installed. Your cert cab installs OK but the Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722.Resigned-schen.cab fails to install.
I believe this is due to the mui files (from my own experience in trying to unsign/resign them I think the certificate table gets corrupted somehow).
I sent you a PM earlier, but would it be possible to obtain a copy of all of the original HTC Home 2.0.814.722 PE files (prior to any hex editing & re-signing)? Helmi would like to take a look at it since it seems to be an issue with his WM6 ROMs (also affects his AKU .42 release for APAC).
Thanks again!
i have removed flags in cab for the self registering and shared for WmpPluginToday.dll and now it installs but it still does not work

Yes....I forgot to remove the self registering of the plugin, that is the cause of installation unsuccessfull....Earlier I tested this on my hermes manually coying the files and it work OK.
I have remove the cab. AT least I am convince by now it is not the certs thing.
Luv...got your PM...I will have to look for the original HTCHome.dll if I still have it. As I said before....the hack I did was just to change the default directory (\windows) to (\HTCHome) for the graphics AND change it to call HTCUti1.dll instead of HTCUtill.dll...They are unicode hex editing only. You could hex edit and change "\HTCHome" back to "\Windows" and "HTCUti1" back to "HTCUtill", resign it and everything is back to original. The mui files came unsign. I have to sign the mui files to get it to work for hermes.
In the mean time....the main difference between v 1.5 and v 2.0 is the "PROFILE" Tab...Try to install, disable the "Profile", reset if necessary to see if it work. The attached cab only enable the Home tab by default...if it work, you can enable all other tabs one by oneto see which tab is causing the problem.
