Network Information / Cell Information ?

Hi All,
Received my XDA Exec yesterday and have been having a good read through this forum for hints and tips.
The first thing I did was play with the Exec in full blown 02 mode, noting how slow it was etc. etc. The good thing about doing that is when I switched to Corporate mode, I was amazed at how much faster it was!
Anyways, what I'm looking to do is to show what phone network i'm using in the Today screen.. Is it possible to do this from Corp. mode ?
The other thing I'd like to know if its possible, is on my Nokia 7610 it shows the cell information, or the Area code that i'm in. It's not life or death, but if it can be done i'd appreciate knowing how..
Other than that i'm mightily impressed with this pda/phone.. speed, size, quality. I guess as I've never used a PDA before, I don't know what i'm missing..

Have a look at Hudson IP Dashboard.
It displays the name of the network you are connected to and the signal strengh as a percentage. Very useful indeed.
I didn't know it did this until I installed it on my Exec.
I'd always just used it for counting GPRS data on my iPAQ.

Here it is:
Start>Settings>Phone>More>
Change Language to english and enable Broadcast Channels
Add any of the word like "Cell"
Then say no of Channels as "50"(w/o inverted commas)
You will start receiving SMS from that particular Cell where yr phone is currently logged...

Call me dumb, but what exactly does the broadcast channels do?
I tried changing the settings but nothing happened?

Add me to that "dumb" list, because I couldn't see what it did either..
The Hudson IP dashboard is quite good though. It shows the network i'm connected to, but I didn't have a lot of luck with it showing bandwidth reading of my wireless connection. Can't have it all I suppose..

Cell Info Display

Hello guys!
I was wondering if anyone knows who to turn Cell Info Display(*The capability of your phone to display the location of the nearest Cell tower to your location,if you didnt know!!) on,on the qtek s200.I looked in the Settings,and i found nothing!Maybe a registry value...?

phone setting, more, enable under the broadcast channel
but you need to add the channel manualy, in my country the channel of cell info display 50

Peculiar TD2 Problem

Hello All,
My TD2 details are in my signature. Location = India.
Now a days I have one very Peculiar issue:
1) Some time (mainly when my mobile changes the receiving gsm signal tower from to a different location in city) I am not able to make any call. If I do a soft reset in that place I can make the calls.
2) I never switch off my mobile, but many of my friends tell that when they call me, they got message that my mobile was switched off.
May be this 2 issues are related...
Is there something wrong in the radio or any internal technology of the mobile here, where I should visit the service center?
NOTE: I have done HardSPL 1.83
Any king of input will be helpful for me....

No not yet . But I think this problem was started just copule of days before I updated the Radio.

Phone loses connection!!! Please read!

Hey all, I have a little (or a big) problem. It is so, that my phone sometimes loses connection. Than I can't call, send messages, go on the internet. So now to my question. Does anyone has/had the problem, and is/was able to solve it?
I wouldn't like to give my phone to samsung, because my imei corrupted (I don't have a backup of my /efs folder), I have flashed several times, and I rooted it several times XD and I don't have a backup of my orange fw (I live in Austria).
So please help me (if you can)!

WHich version do you have? Is there a specific time when phone loses connection?
I had connection loss problem and that was related to mobile internet. You can try to disable mobile internet and check.
For Original ROM, go to samfirmware.com and download the original ROM, update your phone to orignal ROM and go to samsung service center and tell them about IMEI loss. Just show that you dont know anything

I have lestatious v1.7. I know samfirmware, but there is not a version for orange branded gt i5801^^ but ty for your quick answer^^

sometimes i get disconnected... what i do is go into the plane mode and come back out... connection restored...
It started doing this after i got my mainboard replaced... so could it be hardware related?

It happens with me also sometimes. Going into airplane mode and coming back doesn't help. Restarting doesn't help. Replacing sim doesn't help. Even inserting another sim doesn't help. Only fix I have found is walking over to a different area physically. Atleast about a kilometer or so and it latches on to the signal.

Hey check the providers column in samfirmware.com.. The last box has the provider firmware you will get the orange firmware there I have seen.

yeah this would happen to me...bdw see that the mobile tracker is off...n plus wenever not required turn ur data service off...it will be off much help...!

when i was on airtel i used to have calldrops....
now i switched to tata dococmo,call drops are gone but sometimes while talking signal goes off ,also i get a small message "refreshing sim data" and i cant use internet or any other signal related services for not more than 2 minutes,this happens about 10 times a day....
but still sometimes i lose signal[shows a diffrent icon instead of the general signal icon] which lasts for long time[once it happened for 2 days]....[this has happnd only 2 times]
is there any solution to this problem...like falshing with rom or official update
this problem is there with many g3 users....

i think its the problem with docomo....my friends had docomo and they have MANY problems...messages not going through when it says its sent...
when calling phone randomly says other phone is off when its not ect
i suggest u stick to airtel or get vodafone...i have vodafone fr 5 months with
this phone and no problems!

[Q] [DISCUSSION] Grey 3g signal bars

Hi to all...i know there are a lot of post like the following...but give me a shot (and sorry for the italianish english ):
every day 6-7 times when i light my monitor i see the signals bars as grey for a little (not over WIFI but 3g...at home over wifi same issue)...if i open gtalk i see my contact offline for a while.
very...very...VERY annoing :-\
Any help or similar issue on your device?
btw thers's not a codfire rom issue...but every rom i tried give me this problem.
Allready changed my sim...a nano sim with adapter (iphone 5 ****!!!) but no news!!

I have the same issue. I believe this phone reports signal better then it truly is. At my house in bedroom with my galaxy nexus it would show 1 bar often. With nexus 4 it shows 3 but it is gray which means its not able to contact Google servers I believe. If I make a call its bad quality as well which to me shows its a bad signal but phone reports a bit optimistically

I had this problem on my nexus s. I still get out from time to time on the N4. I think it might of been two different things.
1. A standby mode of the version of android you are running.
2. Maybe an APN setting that is causing you to jump signals.

The grey bars simply mean you don't have 'proper' connection to Google servers. So things like Talk won't work. You night need to invest in a proxy app, like proxydroid

anyway it0s true your position but i see some delay in the whatsapp notifications! just like gmail, gtalk...ecc ecc
i can't accept that a nexus4 recive a gmail mail later than an iphone 5...
