Would anyone be willing to put any XDA II software they have on CDs or Floppy Disks, or even on a website for me please? I'm willing to pay toward the costs, maybe could run a CD exchange program...fill a CD and I'll send you two blanks back lol
If anyone would be willing to do any of this could you email me on [email protected], leave details here or PM me on forum?
If anyone emailed my AOL email I'm sorry but that email no longer exists, please note new email above.
Thanks alot
Rob

Are you looking or software specific to xda2 or any software for pocket pc that ill run on xda2?
IF you give me an FTP site, I would gladly upload you a bunch of PPC warez
this is not a site which is warez related !
warez lelated sites have p0rn popups all over the place this site
dont, so i cant be a warez site it's as simple as that
lol I don't have an FTP at the moment but will work on it.
I'm looking for any software compatible with the XDA2 basically, it doesn't have to be specific to it, just so long as it works on it

PPC Software
I'm just curious why you would not just do a Google search and download them yourself? I'm sure you are not advocating that people send you free copies of software that they paid their own hard-earned money to buy, so you must be talking about freeware and possibly shareware. Given that, you can just save all of that time waiting for the CDs to arrive and download them yourself!
Just a small tip: get eMule (www.emule-project.net) and search for anything you want (yes anything in this world you'll find it there, and FREE)
If you notice i didnt mention free at any point, in fact i offered to pay towards costs etc. Also, I did initially mean freeware. To be honest, I work long hours and I tend to find sifting through all the software out there looking for something that either works, works the way I want, or is decent; quite time consuming. It's usually evening by the time I get the chance and I was looking to save time, not necessarily money.
And thanks for the tip
Rob

it's the same thing as asking about software that is compatible with something like a hp pc
all pc software would work if the os is right
it's the same with a xda2 all software which is compatible with windows ce will work well sure some dont but that is more because of other issues
so all pocketpc software will run on your xda2 since 10000's of programs have been writen for that platform you cant fit it on just 1 cd
OK, im a O2 XDA newbie and just got an o2 exec.
I intend to use it with tom tom 5 eventually but i mainly want to use it to connect to 3g internet and making phone calls of course!
I have a couple of questions.
1) By removing the o2 active/o2 software what is the advantage? I understand it makes it run a little quicker but by how much? Will it make connecting to o2 3G / GPRS more complex as I like the simplicity at the moment.
2) Can i rempove the o2 stuff wiothout flashing as I already have a lot of emails/data that i dont want to lose on my device
3) If I do have to flash, what will I miss from the o2 software?
4) How can I change ringtones to my own MP3s etc and is it possible to assign different ring tones to different callers or groups of callers.
5) Is there any better wifi software. At the moment I find it a little tricky to swap from one wifi network to the other without turning wifi on and off and going through a lot of menus.
6) Do I need to uninstall 02 stuff to get Tom Tom 5 to work.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Roger
Anyone able to help on any of my questions? Please!
Roger
Hi,
I saw your post and decided to sign upto this forum.
i also have an XDA Exec and getting rid of the o2 menu bar doesnt realy do much at all, for starters the o2 menu bar is annoying and messy.
I have managed to unlock my fone but have only tested it with an Vodafone sim so far, leave your email and i can email you the file and instructions.
to add your own mp3 ringtones just put your mp3's on your memory card but not in a folder and to add an mp3 message tone copy the mp3 to the windows folder.
anyother questions feel free to ask.
Removing the O2 active software greatly improved the speed of my Exec. I didnt use it so I dont miss it at all, the unit is still very easy to use without it.
To remove the O2 software, you dont need to flash, jut goto start-> programs-> Install Type, and select basic, voila!
As for TomTom, I believe you need the 5.1 update - I havent tried installing TomTom yet, but it is in my todo list ;-)
Allan
If you select o2 active basic set up, it is not uninstalling it. Search the forums for the corp code, that kills it off I believe, that is what i am using and i prviously had basic on, and its now even faster!
Also - you will need to remove a file from the windows startup folder to do with o2 software, forgotten what is is killed, just hunt about..
If you uninstall the O2 software and you only use O2 e-mail, will this mean you can no longer access it using the xda? This may sound like an incredibly stupid question to those of you who are experts, but please bear with me, this phone is a very new thing for me, and I'm not keen on tinkering with the setup if I don't know what the possible outcome may be. I haven't been able to get my xda to sync to Outlook on my PC either, but I don't use Outlook for my e-mail, so at the moment that's not a major disaster.

I have been going over this forum (have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30330&highlight=
) and others for quite sometime reg any word on unlocking the xda Exec, with no real result. It is essential for me as I spend much of my time overseas.
So, I would be gratefull if u could send me the data, info and instructions on unlocking the handset.
Oh and i have some foreign SIMs here in London - so I can verify with them, whether the unlocking process can work.
Thanks
My XDA from O2 came unlocked (already tried with a "3" sim) I noticed a huge speed increase by getting rid of the O2 menu bar, I did it by removing (or you could rename) \windows\startup\active.lnk and rebooting, this plus overclocking to 624 MHZ makes it run like a dream. It is so fast E.G it can fully switch from Portrait to landscape in less than 2secs. and it works every time
hard reset it and choose the corporate mode, miles quicker and so much cleaner than the o2 garbage............The codenwhen prompted for corporate mode is 0506
if it aint active syncing, have you got the latest 4.1 update? if so, check your firewall, or come off line and disable your firewall see if that helps, if not, go to microsoft and they have a page to guide you through forewall settings.
hope that helps.
Hi, I'm a Newbie but learning fast,
I have just got the Xda exec, and was really disappointed with the Personal Modes performance so I did the hard reset and used the 0506 code to install corp mode without the o2 gear and now it runs as fast as any Pda i've seen if not faster, the screen refresh rates were much better. but hey! whats a few nano secs between models eh! I think just using the Install Type option doesn't do it properly, so I'd go for a hard reset.
Anyway after hard resetting and installing the corp install, I couldn't really find much that the O2 software actually did! I didn't miss anything. I think the O2 software is one of those type of programs that free memory but actually take up as much as it reclaims, making it useless.
You can run TomTom5 with the O2 software running but to connect to most Bluetooth GPS devices You'll find it advantagous to use the 5.1 update cab files instead of using the TomTom5 cab files. The 5.1 cab update files are actually full install files for the application only, you still need the maps, voices and the essential speed camera poi. I now have the latest TomTom and up and running. excellent program and joanna lumley's voice; well, sat nav heaven.
As for WIFI I could only find this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=4437 I also found an interesting little program called Hitchiker.
MP3: I've found it better to convert any audio file to WMA, not mp3. wma is better compression and its native to windows. I convert all my music to wma on the computer; I think its clearer and it takes up less space. If you look in the Windows\Rings folder on your xda exec you'll find it has a wma file not an mp3. for ringtones I use the sample files used for ejay especially the sphere sounds.
I'm looking for an anti-theft app. I don't know if it exists yet.
Is there an equivalent to the symbian phone apps "Anti-thief" or "EzProtect"? It has some nice features to let your pda "phone home" when someone is tinkering with it, or you can remotely disable your pda by sending a password though sms.
I've been searching over the net and found "Kill-pda" but that can only erase the device completely by sms. Thats a bit overkill
I hope someone knows, because i learned the hard way that you really need an app like this. My phone got stolen once and I got a Huge A$$$ bill for calling to egypt en italy
edit: I found this description for EzProtect:
The application sends an SMS to your specified number as soon as the SIM card has been changed. By this way, you receive SMS on your friend's (or whoever's number u defined) cell with the thief's cellnumber and SIM number (IMSI) so it becomes very easy to track the thief.
I definately want an app that can do this. And I can imagine a lot of people wanting it too.
There was a discussion about this on HoFo in Oct ober when people first started receiving their Wizards. I think BTT (BeyondtheTech) mentioned something about it. I'll see if I can track it down this evening.
It certainly would be cool.
Check this out! http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?s=0c0cedfa906ae1b85f844fb7b497def6&showtopic=65021
Hope this works. I have not tried this myself.
Thanks a lot for your help, but that was the program i mentioned in the threadstart "PDAKill".
The only thing it can do is erase the device completely when you send a sms to your pda containing a predifined password.
But when the thief takes out the simcard and puts in his own, then this program would be useless.
Guys, if I've seemed distracted for the last few days, this is why:
I've been working on a program called VJAccioPhone.
It is used to detect if your phone has been stolen and to permit remote use of the stolen phone. Your phone doesn't have to be stolen, eg if for some reason your wife is likely to discover your "niece's" affectionate messages to you, you can send a password protected remote keyword to format your phone and hardreset it. I'm sure you can think of better examples!
It's an expansion of some code I wrote for my unreleased plugin, VJEphemeris, which you can read about here. The release version allows you to do pretty much anything you can do with the phone when it's in your hand, all remotely. Destructive and constructive control.
This is a pre-announcement. I don't like preannouncing, but unfortunately this week I've been on a very limited programming quota due to the ministrations of my better half. So although the code is finally finished, it's being beta tested while I'm away on holiday. If all is well when I get back next week, hopefully I'll try to get it released!
Don't tell anyone else, but you can read about VJAccioPhone and see screenshots here. Please note, and don't ask, there is no download available at the moment.

Aside from that a program like this would be very handy, and I'm quite curious and will keep an eye on it myself, I advise everyone to activate the pin code on their simcard, and always call their mobile operator as soon as the phone is stolen so they can block your number to avoid getting high bills as the topicstarter said... You should also be able to get your number back easily by requesting a new sim card and having your mobile number set to that simcard again.
This may seem obvious to some people, but I just wanted to post it anyway since a lot of people are still not aware of these simple ways to protect yourself.
Absolutely true; in England, the police aren't interested in persuing phone theft, but for you own benefit, you must always have your IMEI blocked and the phone reported stolen immediately to prevent you being charged for calls.
VJAccioPhone will be able to report back to you even if the IMEI has been changed or it's being used abroad etc. It's more for protecting your data on the stolen phone then getting the phone back. Frankly, any thief would do better to throw the phone away then persue cracking strong protections. Stolen phones are easy enough to come by! However, at least a nice passer by might be able to get in touch with you!
V
Sounds great! Would it be possible to enable the phone ID (Where you can enter your name and contact details) thought this might be good if it was ever found (or part of the hard reset).
Wauw, this is great stuff Vijay!
If you need a beta-tester on the wizard platform, i would highly recommend myself
This would be excactly what everyone needs 8)
Would it be possible to save the configuration settings? Because my idea would be to include the cab file in my extended_rom, and thus make it install itself even after a hard reset. This would mean that the configurations settings also have to be loaded after the hard reset.
Keep up the great work Vijay
frigit: if you mean enable password screen, yes, should be no problem. however i'm thinking of writing a better custom password screen using some strong encryption, with optional destruction on failure.
leploep: of course, it's designed for extended rom etc. right now protection works as a ta k, for the demo, but i'll be writing protection into an invisible app. Remote control is already complete and works transparently when triggered, so the thief won't even realise what you're doing ie there's no sign of the control smss being received to the thief.
eg you can background call the police from the stolen phone
more when i'm back from holiday next week!
v
This is starting to sound like a killer app - pun intended 8)
I'm in for sure when you get this finished, Vijay!
Already finished for the demo version!
kept me quite busy, developing three intersecting programs, like playing chess! but they all seem to work ok. a friend is testing it hopefully this week then i'll see what i can do for wider release when i get back...
v
Well vijay555 , you can put me on the list of very interested persons on buying this soft.
Cheers mate.
vijay will this work on all the wm5.0 devices??
i.e. I have the pda2k with wm5.0 and have been looking for a prog like this since i got my device, also is it possible to keep this program after hard reset ?? as you know if a hard reset is done the data is gone, but the user now has an expensive device to start playing with
it's not been tested on wm5 at this time, actually because the guy testing has a wm2003 motorola - gulp! but everything i write is normally wm5 & wm2003 now. there is no reason why it's not wm5 compatible but i'll ensure it is before release. i can certainly say, to my pain, the hardReset keyword is very wm5, i activated it by accident in testing.
retaining it after hard reset is only possible, as far as i am aware, by using a custom ext rom or rom.i've not tried it on my magician or universal, but hopefully your device in particular ext rom customisation is possible. at this time it uses registry & normal exe/dll files to run, so no reason it can't be ext rom'med. hopefully this will be confirmed in testing shortly.
if anyone can think of any particularly useful remote keywords to incorporate drop me a line. as it is, the full version will permit remote .exe launching so it can do pretty much anything
v
a lot of us have paid an arm and leg for our devices so having that extra peace of mind, knowing that if your device is nicked your going to make it as hard as poss for the theif to try and profit from your loss.
vijay all the best mate so far your app looks very promising iv got the exec running WM05 so if you need a beta tester let me know LOL
and guys if you report your phone as lost make sure your service provider is also going to blacklist the device!
I work for Vodafones in a call centre in the birmingham, UK,but the amount of customer services that is outsoursed to other non vodafone call centres based here in the UK its unbelievable! the amount of complaints I deal with and customers accounts that I come across where the outsourced twats
will admin bar your sim card but not blacklist the handset!
anyway I'll keep my eyes open for any more theftbashing apps and will post on here.

Great Job man :!:
i'd be happy to check it on my devices
Cheerz
lol mcwarre
even with our staff accounts we can't get the pdas as they are only available for busniess customers to be honest with you don't know why vodafone is stupid enough not to sell to normal consumers its the biggest network in the uk,
the staff phones we do get we gets 12 months line rental free lol
annnnd from all the universals I think the exec with its black shell looks the most stunning-the white shell devices just look a tad bulkier! lol
Wondering if someone can help me or just point me in the right direction.
I have an MDA Vario II from T-Mobile and I would like to run BB Connect on it.
1) Which ROM has it included, or is there a separate installer for it?
2) Am I allowed to run this as part of my WnW tarriff?
I've had a look around and I haven't found anything. There is probably a post which answers my questions, but I can't find it!
this page is not in english but the program and user guide is
user guide
hand held software
desktop software (optional)
you will also need get a blackberry data plan from t-mobile to use this software
Hello All,
I'm willing to dedicate the time and effort to develop applications and maybe create a Free CID Unlocker. I'm in 3rd Year I.T & Business Management, I've completed a course in Microsoft Visual Basic. I'm interested in learning more about Windows Mobile 5/6 to further develop applications based on people's needs. I don't want to promise anything but I'm willing to put in all efforts if someone can guide me in the right way. I'm interested in developing applications, yes i'm a newbie to applications development but not a newbie to smartphone/pocket pc phones. I've owned an I-Mate Jam and currently own the HTC s621/Dash/Excalibur. I'd love to develop applications and most of all find a way to CID Unlock the excalibur. If someone who has experience in this field can help me or guide me to the right guides to pursue applications development for Windows Mobile/Pocket Pc, I'd really appreciate it. 2 Members are ready to donate, they are r0p3 and egosumpaul. i don't mind co-working with a group of people to develop a free CID unlocker and maybe applications. Yes, i know nothing in terms of applications development but everyone at one point don't know anything as well. There's always a start somewhere and I want to start now as I'm also going to be specializing in Telecommunications & Networking.
I have all resources, programs-wise and all windows mobile 6 ROMS. My device is application unlocked with security prompt off. Incase I do need programming software, i can get that as well, so no worries in the department of software, just need the guidance to do this, people start with no knowledge and with a few helping hands, we all can get somewhere. I see many people ask for FREE CID/SIM unlocking solution for the HTC Excalibur.
OFFER: 20 $
TESTING: I'm ready to test
SUPPORT: 2 Members (Egosumpaul & r0p3 - hats off to their determination) as of now, one willing to pay 20 $ and another one willing to pay 40 $ i think. total - 20 + 20 + 40 = 80 $
who's with me? please don't back off, i'd love to see support through this, i have hope - i hope we can get somewhere, if IMEI can do it, so can we - they are people too, sure they might be professionals but at one point they were like us, i don't mean to talk highly of me or anyone nor am i putting them down - i just don't want to pay 38 $ for CID Unlocking, I want to make a FREE CID Unlocking Solution for everyone. guide me in the right track and i'll try my best to do it. if someone's willing to make it and already are experienced, then please do so
Thanks in advance for everyone's support !
