If I turn off the power or it times off, I can't turn it back on. I have to do a soft reset.
I am also missing transcriber since the upgrade.
Any ideas??
Found it in the "XDA II Won't turn on" topic

Just bought mij S100 and already a problem. My phone automatically shuts down the display, this is nothing strange. But when I want to turn it back on again using the on/off button, sometimes it does not react (sometimes it does). When this happens, i also cannot receive any calls. I tried to call myself with another phone and it did not ring. It looks like a crash to me. When I do a soft reset it works again.
I have the newest Qtek rom (1.12.00 WWE / 1.12.550 WWE) installed. Originally the phone came with T-mobile software.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
If there is a problem with the power button, then you can go into Settings - Button Lock - do not lock buttons. This way you can turn on your device using any of the green or red buttons.
hi robbertje,
sometimes i have the same problem on my MDA compact (=imate S100).
on/off button does not respond - display dark.
soft reset resets the MDAc and everything is ok.
then a few days no problems. if this problem occours then more times.
I found out that if my MDAc is in this state and if I pull the SD Card out of the device, the screen is on but frozen. The time which is shown an the screen is not correct. Seems that it shows the time when the device went to the freeze status.
Also battery is very low after such problems.
I used to have it when I first upgraded to big storage. A hard reset seemed to fix the problem. What I found was that the screen would react, but it could be up to a minute after I hit the power button. Same thing when the screen was on, I'd hit Start and wait. After a while the start menu would pop up. This was before I even managed to install any other software so it's a windows bug that's fairly random. I haven't had it happen for a few months now, though.
I think PPCProfiles made the problem. I reinstalled PPCProfiles and it seems that the problem is solved but I will see ..................
Hey, I've already ur problem. It's an hardware problem!
The mess is that, when the PDA is cold (strange, huh?) it won't reactivate, causing to do a soft reset. Mystically, the LEDs are still functioning (I mean, if it's green, it will continue to blink BUT doesn't change for any reason)
The only way to fix it is to send it to the repairing center. Sorry for who is out of warranty.
Cheers,

new ROM?
In this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25761 it is said a new ROM wil fix the problem ...
Is this possible?
check http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27956&highlight= too - may not be relevant, but it shows that power button wierdness can actually be the result of a dodgy battery.
remove your battery, and wait 1 day,my problem solved this method...
Hi there! I hope anyone of you has a solution for my problem; it is really annoying. I have a QTEK 9100, which I have recently upgraded to the latest English version 2.17 using aWizard. Everything was working just like a charm. But I have a weird problem. When I turn on the device lock (on today screen) and don't use the device until it turns off, I cannot get It out of sleep mode. No chance to unlock again... all I can do is a soft reset and this is not too amusing (at least for me  ). Do I miss something elementary?
Any hints to solve this are warmly welcome!
I know that this won't solve your current problem, but you might want to upgrade to the latest ( German ) QTEK 2.18
I ran the 2.17 ENGLISH before, without problems and flashed my MDA VARIO last night to the 2.18 GERMAN QTEK - works like a charm too!
Thanks dreamboxer! I've tried that yesterday evening, but the result has been the same. Could you try something for me? Turn the device lock on (today screen), then wait until the device "turns off". After a while (around 5 minutes) try to turn it back on. In my case the device does not respond and I have to soft reset. Thanks if you have the time!
there's no problem with device lock today plugin in this and any version rom. turn the device on (by pressing the power button) then pres left softkey (Unlock) and finaly TAP the Unlock button on the screen. if this isn't working there's might be some third party app you're using that is making a problem.
Hi dddrko
Thanks for your answer. Your instructions are exactly what I was trying to do. I have no third party applications installed at all for limiting the cause of the problem. When I press the power button to turn the device back on, there is no softbutton because the device hung up. Sometimes I see the soft button, but after using it the screen turns white and I have to soft reset.
Thank you anyway for your help!

i think i have the same problem, but i think you will find that the device does not hang but rather the backlight turns off and it is not possible to turn the backlight back on with a screen tap. what i have to do is look very carefully and go into settings -> backlight -> and turn it back up to the top of the slider!
Thanks s4vva; I've had that problem every once in a while as well. I wonder if I am the only person having this problem. Can anybody confirm not having this issue please?
Thank you!
My MDA now all of a sudden keeps locking up on boot-up. It gets to the Today screen and then locks up. I can't do a darn thing. I can hit the power button and it turns the backlight on and off. But I can't turn the phone off or on once it's locked up. All I can do is take the battery out to turn the phone off. But when I go to turn it back on, it just locks up. I can't get it to do a damn thing. Now its says Rebooting in Safe Mode.....and is locked up. I have no clue what to do. I'm on Cust ROM 2.21.
Any ideas?
The same thing just happened to my SIM unlocked 8125 today! I can't even hard reset it. I am on 2.25. I can soft reset it, but a hard rest won't work... I am lost, it worked flawlessly for 5 days, I hung up with a telephone call today and boom, junk... Any ideas how to help me get this thing hard reset? If i press com button and voice button and hit reset, it is just as though I did a soft rest.
So i got it unfrozen by reflashing with the Cingular 225 ROM. Then I had to reload all my crap, well, just a couple of apps... I turned off the phone last night and now when I turn it on this morning, same friggin junk! This is going to suck if I have to keep reloading... The only installed apps were:
spb pocketplus 3.0
AEBPlus and devicelock to map comm button
Any ideas??
Try restarting (soft) with the SD removed. Double check that you have operability after bootup, then reinsert card and verify it is accessing it properly (load a file explorer). Then, do another restart with the card in (by holding down the power button, not the softrestart button) to verify all is good.
It just happened to me about half an hour ago but figured out how to get it running again. Decided to search for "safe mode" to see if there's another way around it, and came up with this post
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I didn't have a sd card in the phone, I am still waiting for it to be delivered. I have found that by not turning the unit off (holding power button down) it has not happened again. I have also opted not to install any applications until I get my card.
I will play more some other day. I will come back and post a result.
Hi there,
I have a problem with my MDA Compact. It seems to like hard resetting itself.
For example, it'll be in my pocket and I'll take it out and press the standby button to see if I have any messages. Nothing happens at all. Press it again, and again, and again, nothing. Take the back off and the battery out, back in and turn it on... nothing. However, if I then plug it in to USB or put it on charge and then press the power button, it will come to life and then I'll be greeted with the lovely Welcome to Windows Mobile 2003, tap here to set up your device.
And thus, I have lost all my contacts and messages. Help
Actually, how do you hard reset the pda?
It hasn't reloaded all of my t-mobile software and settings
My wizard is currently running nbd v9.2 and few days ago i was listen to HTC Audio Manager and it kept freezing so i ended the program and started the program back up several time. Finally i decided to restart the phone and i put it in my pocket, when i looked at the phone again the nbd screen was still on, i thought nothing of it, so i pulled the battery out and started the phone again. The samething happened the tmobile screen comes up and shows my IPL 2.26 ,SPL 2.26 ,GSM and OS. Then the nbd screen comes up and stays there. The screen will stay on for a minute or so, go off, lite back up and finally go out. And when i touch the screen nothing happens...i fear the worst . Can anyone help me?
You need to do a hard reset. follow these instructions:
* Press and hold both the Comm Mannager Button and the Voice Command Button
* While keeping those two buttons pressed, press the Reset Button with your stylus
* After about a second you will be prompted for confirmation. Press the Talk Button to confirm
That should hard reset and the phone should restart like new.
P.S. If you read a little oyu could get this without starting a new thread
