Camera upgrade..? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Does anyone know if the crappy camera on O2 Mini (magician) can be upgraded/changed to a nokia camera or any other make camera that is better than the standard ones?

Yes - by getting a Nokia phone instead. All HTC devices have a crap camera, a no amount of firmware upgrade will help. Nor can you change the hardware. So either undderstand that this device has a mediocre camera - or get anothe model of phone with a better camera.

You might be able to.. someone who has access to lots spare parts of mobile phones may want to answer this... maybe not now but in the near future..

I understand.. but Im not getting another phone.. also theres nothing wrong with hoping..

The reason, I guess, that the guy was so hostile was because questions like this are ALWAYS asked on phone forums.
For instance, I used to have a SL45, and the questions that were asked over and over again were: "Can you upgrade the SL45 to colour screen, more memory, symbian operating system, polyphonic speaker".
The answer is always: maybe...if you understand how to completely change the insides of the phone...because it'll require more than just a quick swap-over to upgrade the camera. And, in any case, the average person probably doesn't have the knowledge to do it...and the ones that do probably think it's not worth their time.

WM 6.1 ROM

Exist any WM6.1 ROM for HTC Dream ? Please dont ask me why I need this.
Thanks.
No, not going to happen, been asked many, many, many times already.
why not ? where is the problem to cook non official ROM ?
For one, its a waste of a perfectly good phone to put that CRAP on it. If you want a piece of crap, buy a piece of crap.
Second, the required drivers simply don't exist.
What do you men crap ? OK, the second explanation is better.
I think lbcoder got it right. windows mobile IS Junk. I have a Kaiser in addition to the G1. The Kaiser has great hardware minus the KB, small screen, and quiet speaker, but it has a horrific OS e.g. It's slow, locks up, restarts itself for no reason.
The G1 however has a great OS that needs little or no changing at all, but dumbed down hardware.

Bottom line is if you want WinMo, buy a WinMo phone. Most of the hackers working on HTC Dream are working on Android.
Oh yeah and use the search.

I concur. I couldn't imagine going to winmo after being blessed with android.

I guess we want what we don't have? Many folk are working on porting Android to our WM devices.... Maybe it's just the challenge of it all?

Now that I think about it; I sure wouldn't mind the ability to dual boot. Not even sure why but maybe just for that hell of it.
Makes no sense
I had the T-mobile Dash before the G1 and wound up giving the dash to my wife. I was helping her learn to use it and only then did I realise how goofy the setup of it all is. They say the beauty of it is that it tries to emulate the Windows experience, but if my desktop worked like that...I'ld have a mac.

yeah, think so too. but you see, they just don't care, also the end-users... I find this kind of sad, there are just a few "freaks" like us here, but the majority doesn't even know what they're buying.... Sad Anyway, this "little" fault is really funny lol

Is X2 built by Foxconn, Mobinnova or... ?

Has anyone a definitive answer to the above question ?
Just out of curiosity, but the answer can also lead to the right direction to find a right procedure to flash the phone w/o SEUS help.
Mobinnova
http://www.obsessable.com/company/mobinnova/
ps : link edit
Thanks for your answer, but I think that the question has still sense.
Ferrari is owned by Fiat, but saying "built by ferrari" or "built by fiat" are not synonyms.
Afaik the iphone is built directly by Foxconn and not Mobinnova and from the technical point of view this can lead to great differences.
P.S. Your link is wrongly formatted...

I can't agree: I think that X2 is an incredibly well built phone, surely better built than the X1 or the average HTC phone.
Its drawbacks are almost all on the SW side and in some project choices, so it's SE to blame and not Mobinnova Foxconn or whatever.
Obiviously the weak and well known HTC bootloader could be a nice addon, but this is not related with the build quality.

[Q] Replace android on Xperia X10?

Is there a way to COMPLETELY replace the android and UI and Timescape and Mediascape that come with Xperia X10?
How?
What would you install?
Would like like to change the OS or just version of your Android? Do you want to remove the components or the whole OS?

I don't like SE UI. Guess it consumes a lot of hardware resources.
I would like my Xperia X10 to run the system the HTC Desire runs, for instance.
I would like to change the whole thing.
Is it possible? How?
What OS would you install then?
Answer to all them questions
No it's not possible. You can change to a diffrent home menu. Try adw launcher. But thats about it
What your asking for is possible.. but not until the bootloader has been cracked and someone has created custom ROM based on HTC Sense, but with all of the drivers etc for the X10 hardware..
But I have to ask.. why didn't you buy a HTC if you prefer their UI?
Oh.. and I don't think that your theory.. "Guess it consumes a lot of hardware resources." is valid.. but just to be sure - which resources are you talking about?? Battery? Memory? Processor bandwidth?

Why would you buy the X10 to begin with...? There's dozens of phones that come with stock Android.
To answer your (weird) question: No. Not until the bootloader is cracked and the devs make a new ROM.

In his defense: Timescape looks pretty good and it even works well enough for demo purposes. It's when you really start using the phone it becomes useless so it's an easy mistake to make.

It will, but we still have to wait till they crack the boatloader and make SE hardware compatible with the 2.2 Froyo.
2.1 is coming this month sooo

You do realize that by replacing the OS on your phone, you lose that technical support, right?
Also, the amount of customization on the X10 is equal to any HTC phone. The beauty of Android means you can change things to look like you want them too. Just look at any theme thread. People have changed the notification bar, the font, the menu colors, and system icons. Has nothing to do with what phone they are using.

I'll take it in consideration.

[Q] Will you buy it?

This seems to have the best specifications of Samsung and HTC combined, additionally offering dual sim. For that price i can live just fine with a non-changable battery.
Seems like a very nice device. If it will be available in europe, and there's good support for custom roms here on xda, then it would be an alternative to Oneplus 3 for me.
I'm definitely getting this phone when it comes out. Can't wait to get rid of my G5. The thermal mitigation screen dim is killing me!

Updates are important, espacially if there is barely Custom Rom support. I'm afraid of latter, on the other hand the Snapdragon SoC makes it easier. Maybe this will be my first try to port a Custom Rom.
I'm sure it will be possible to unlock the bootloader, even though that's just my feeling.

In my opinion force touch is absolutely useless. At the moment we have 3 options, single tap, double tap and long click, and if you want even more, triple tap, etc. Why would you need force touch? That's just a desperate attempt for innovation.
At the moment the ZTE Axon 7 is higher ranked for me that the OnePlus 3, especially because of the front facing speakers! If you had front facing speakers before, you want nothing else.

Well in this point I disagree with you. Force touch could and should be a kind of new interaction. It´s a question of implementation. You´re totally right for the existing "gestures" but I think in combination of this we´ve got new possibilities. There´s a lot of potential. But pls note - I don´t see the the advantage only on my side - I´m working with handicapped youngsters - and by some clients the force touch engine might be a positive progress
Front facing speakers... Meh.... I never used it BUT! The audio-chips are totally great!!! I´m a little bit audiophil. And I think the upgrade from my OP1 should be working "nice" for my headphones - specifically for my B&W P5 wireless
