hey all - I have looked at the PCTECH website with regards to the replacement screens for the XDA, are they talking about the XDA 1 only???
plus they are in the USA, I am in the UK and want to know what I can do about my screen over here. I think it is just the glass that has cracked as I can still use the screen no problems......
HELP - I need to get it fixed, I know that if you have insurance with O2 they will replace them - but I am with orange and bought the phone as a stand alone device.
HELP PLEASE
have you tried claiming on your house-hold insurance?
just and idea.
could do - but dont really want to go down that route....
just want to see if I can get it repaired first.
thanks for the thought tho.
Hi guys n gals.
Anyone want to buy a replacement Jasjar screen? Its actually fairly easy to replace or you can take it down to your local phone repair shop and have them do it for you.
I have instructions on dismantling at the below link.
http://www.artworkfiles.com/XDA/
If you have a faulty Jasjar, or any i-mate branded device, youll know that getting i-mate to repair it is basically impossible as they dont answer phones or emails at all. Even those that say they can repair i-mate devices cant repair the Jasjar or get Jasjar parts. Im sick of trying so just want to roucoup a little of my loss and help someone else with thiers.
Best offer around £150? Screen is unscratched. Guaranteed against DOA. Can set up an ebay auction for security if you want.
Ill even throw in a new unused Brando screen protector.
Thanks

I NEED A JASJAR SCREEN
Please email me at [email protected] if you still have a screen or know where I can buy one.
My screen cracked after I dropped it from 18inches.
Thanks.
Tim
£150? Isn't that rather steep. I mean for that money, one could actually get ir repaired and shipped from Imate. Doing it yourself isn't as easy as the pictures make it seem to be. Besides, in the process if something goes wrong, warranty becomes void, and £150 goes down the crapper if you happen to mess the screen in the process.
If you can tell me where to get it repaird id be happy to get mine done. But i-mate support and service centers do not reply and the people I have talked to do not repair the JasJar.
I even talked to HTC Europe who wouldnt repair it because 'the boards are different'. Even tho it was an out of warranty repair that i would be paying for.
Also I do/did suggest taking it to a local phone repair shop if youre not comfortable doing it yourself.

search the foums for Universal's service manual...
Its also available of xda-dev's ftp for download...that has detailed step by step instructions to do it. However, I wonder where you plan to source the spare screen!
S
I can buy one with shipping for 215€ (260$).
is that a good price?

You may want to consider....
You may want to try these guys:
www.ppctechs.com
You can read about their service here:
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~iMATE_JASJAR-496~area~repairs~item~XDA-LCD06.htm
I've used these guys over the past 5-6 years. They are first rate and provide EXCELLENT service. They offer a quick turn around. By the way, I don't work for them.
Maybe it's me, but I'd rather not screw around with a $1,000.00 device.

HELP!!!!!
Yesterday I was foolishly playing around with my MDA Vario and it fell from my hands...onto the hard floor. Now the display is cracked (mind you, NOT the LCD!!!!!Just the glasstop, digitizer, lense or whatever you call it). It still works perfectly but when I press with the stylus over the crack it just freaks out. End of the day: I can use it but I can't play with it. I spent AGES googling for a solution but apparently all I can find is LCD replacements (which actually DO include the screen...but cost 3 times asmuch). Anybody can help? please.........I'm desperate!

What a bummer!
HTC europe and usa are selling parts give them a call and see if any joy
see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49361
and here http://www.htceurope.com/uk/
Ouch! I'd be kicking myself if that happened to me!
Hope it won't cost too much get it repaired
PS. Doesn't your Olympus C150/D390 have an upclose (or "Flower") mode? You'll be able to get clearer shots if you select it.
Got it repaired!!!!!!!For "only" 70 pounds... I went to a shop in South Wimbledon and they made it on the spot for me. As a matter of fact they changed my LCD too (they tried to put just the display but apparently there was a "ribbon color" problem). Nevertheless, I got my UNbroken LCD back as well, so now I'll try to sell it and make a bit of money (7o quids for a piece of glass is a bit toomuch, uh?).
Considering that after HOURS of research I had found nothing better than a 169 euro full repair (LCD+glasstop) -in Germany...- I reckon the £70 was not a rip off anyway. I missed a beat when I saw that crack yesterday, and I swore to myself I'd get my baby back in action...with less than 100 pounds. Mission accomplished ;-)
If any of you guys (AND I DO HOPE YOU DON'T) breaks JUST the LCD (but not the glasstop), let me know and we can work out a nice price for both you and me (I have a spare LCD now...And if you read till here you might be in need of one!).
my e-mail [email protected]
p.s. Thanx to the forum I found answers to ALL my queries...but how comes NOBODY before me broke his glasstop?!?Am I the only silly one who made it?? ;-(
ciao guys and thanx for your help anyway (btw: htc europe was USELESS and no, I have no little flower on my girlfreind's sad OLYMPUS camera!)
cracking and hacking are forbidden here in this site, so please dont crack your screen again
70 pounds are really tooooooooo much for a broken peice of glass, but what else can you do? you have to buy it!!! any way, congratulations you have solved the issue finally.

Sorry for your sceen!
Were did you find you "emule" skin?
Thanks
Seb.
I took my phone back to O2, I had no insurance, so i was expecting to have to pay to get it repaired (the girl behind the counter looked at me like i was insane to try and get it fixed "It'll be sooo expensive").
However when I went to pick it up a few days later, they gave me a new one, with new battery, earphones, stylus etc... for free!
The receipt simply said "unrepairable".
You have a great service in europe, I live in an arab country, once you crack your screen here they will say " you have broken your screen to get a new one, but you will never!!!" then they take your mobile to fix it, you wait for 24 months, then they say that they cant find the mobile, so they give you brand-used siemens A-35 mobile instead of the mini s, saying that "they have almost the same features. either accept it or go and kill yourself"
Thats how our companies deal with us!!!
Thank god, you live in europe!!!

Are you in jordan? I cracked, no better yet SMASHEd, the screen on my 9500 about a year ago when i was on summer vacation in Saudi Arabia. I took it to the warranty repair center and i just had to convince them that it was an accident. They gave the device to a very talented philipino guy sitting in a little cubicle, 15 min later, had my device with a new screen. 30 minutes later had traded in the 9500 for a I-Mate Jam(my first windows mobile device).

You are completely right, but do you know why did they do that with you? because you are not arabic guy, you are american. Lets be fair, the service in Saudi arabia is a bit better than the service in jordan, but when an arabic company deals with an arabic customer that cracked his screen, they will crack his head and kick him out of the company office.
Ofcourse, our companies are not as bad as I describe, but it will never happen that you crack your screen and they simply give you a new phone with a new battery, because they feel that they will look stupid.
Thats how our companies deal with us!!!
Hey guys...
Now that my problem is sorted out I am putting the LCD on e-bay.

where can I buy a screen for the Cingular 8125????
Hi. I called the HTC parts number listed above and they say they do not see the LCD screens, but only repair them. I have looked online and can only find 1 site that sells the LCD for the HTC 8125 (www.pdasmart.com) but they charge more for the part than it costs to send the phone in to get repaired!!!!
So far the cheapest way to to replace my screen is to pay $169 and send it in. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to replace my screen???

I presume we are the $169 site that you found. You can also order just the part and receive a 10% discount on the part. There is no warranty when purchasing the part only though. Simply put "part only - 10% no warranty" in the special instructions field of the order.

My phone screen shattered. The touch response is fine, I think only the outer glass is broken. Is it possible to get it replaced? Will Samsung fix it, if yes then for how much. I live in Delhi if that's any help.

^If your phone is under warranty and you're convincing enough, they'll replace it for free.
Else it'll cost you approx 1.5k for a new screen panel.

The final bill was 2.5k. Bangalore is he it hub that must be why it is cheaper there. Was thinking of getting a white cover.
First my G3 showed weird colours onscreen and would not boot and I tried atleast six times.
The next day I showed to my friends how poor service samsung gives but my phone miraculously came back to life only to make fun of me. Only this time I had booted it without a sim. Now its working as well as ever.
So, you read the title.
I broke my phone's screen.
The thing is it does not turn on, but the phone still works
When I dropped it and I tried to turn it on, I saw green glitches on one side of the screen.
So, I need tips
What should I do? Customer support is doing nothing, because is a problem that i made.
How much will normal J5 screen cost? Can it be repaired?
Thanks,

Repairing screen will cost around €100 from official distributes, but you can try to repair on an electronic repair shop (one who repair smartphone parts), maybe you can have more luck with the price.
In last case buy new phone. (Don't buy J500H )

Well, it has a little spider-web at the side of the screen. LCD broken. Screen not turning on.
I think it will be better that I replace it myself, but the one thing I will hate is no Samsung logo at the top of the screen because my friends will call me "cheap fck"

That wouldn't bother if its cheap at least u have a phone bro
Hi, this topic is as close to my problem as I can get. I have bought a new screen for my Samsung J530F and have removed the scattered screen. However, when I placed the new one and tried to turn the phone on, the display works only in the sense of showing stuff, but is not touch-responsive, ie I cannot control the phone.
My rather noobie and perhaps stupid question is: is the display supposed to work rightaway, or shall I assemble the phone fully before the touch-control kicks in?
I don't really care about the phone, it's the data that are inside. Most of it is on a SD card, so I'm fine, but some pieces in the internal memory are valuable for me (but not worth 100 euros for a new screen in a repair shop).
Anyway, I bought a cheap screen to give it a try - it's the TFT version. Perhaps that could play a role?
Thanks in advance for any help or nudge!
