Problem with Sandisk Wifi SD card (gprs keeps activating) - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I'm using a Sandisk SD Wifi Card with my mini. Sometimes when i'm in a wifi hotspot with my wifi card inserted, when i turn on my browser and start surfing the gprs will still try to connect even though I have a good wifi signal.
Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know how to prevent the gprs from activating when ïn a wifi hotspot?

I have heard someone having a similar problem with the xda 2s but not on the magician, anyway can you confirm that the network card settings for the sandisk card allow for connection to the internet and not work.
start -> settings -> connection -> network cards -> select network adapters -> ensure sandisk connects to the internet.

yea i had that problem i had to even set it back to 'work' sometimes. seems ok now though. i dont know why you have to even choose one, shouldnt need to!

i finally installed my SanDisk WiFi 256 card and although it picked up my network perfectly, it for the life of me wouldnt connect via WiFi, kept using GPRS.
But much to my surprise, i tried it a few days later and it connects fine first time to the WiFi now!

I read about it happening to the xdaIIs in the blue angel threads, but I wasn't sure if it was the same for the magician. Anyway, I'll try this next time I get to a hotspot and will let you know how it goes. Many thanks!

btw, for some reason, I haven't had any problems surfing with wifi at all when I'm in Airborne Access (a Philippine wifi provider) hotspots.

SanDisk WiFi Card and MSN Messenger

Ive just got myself a SanDisk WiFi card and its working perfectly for Internet Explorer, Browsing the Network, Email etc. but I cant get it to work with MSN messenger - each time I go to Messenger it either tries to connect via GPRS first OR fails all together.
Anyone know how to do this?
did you choose that you are on the network and not on the cellphone network inside your connections under connections under settitngs ?
Well in settings, under connections/advanced I changed the settings so that the WiFi netowrk card connects to 'The Internet'. I also tried so that it connects to 'Work' but neither of these work for me?!

WIFI with XDA II mini

hi guys,
i just bought an XDA II mini, and i heard there are a lot of problems with wireless lan, so im confused, can i use the sandsick wifi card with that phone and access the internet ? does it work well or do i have to trick somethign ? and what kind of card does work ? thank you for the help.
should be possible of cause you need something to connect to
so you need a wifi router or have access to a wifi hotspot somewhere
My MDA Compact works perfectly well with the SanDisk Wifi with 256Mb memory. I didn't experience any problems, except setting it up! But now I know what to do, its perfect.
ah ok, so wifi and wireless lan are the same but ? meaning as long as theres a wireless lan internet hotspot around, i can use it right ?
yep you got it in one.
well if the hotspot let you
if it's a private wifi network then unly if they dident make it secure
and if it public hotspot they may want to charge you for using it
yeah i know that, how bout security keys ? can the card handle 64/128 bit encryption when i know the key ?
looking at sandisks site would give the answer to that question i think
i got the card, and it was installed fine, also fins my wireless network, but i cant sue internet explorer, it always says i have no connection, and under modem settings i cannot choose wireless, only dial in or bluetooth/gprs settings
if you mean surf and not sue
then try choosing the connection
under advanced when you want to suft using wifi
you have to sellect that connection insted of the GPRS which is the std connection picked there
i tried that, but then in the modem settings there is no wifi option to choose, only gprs, bluetooth and a few others

Last time I am using Sandisk wifi +256mb card.
Today, I am stick on bluetooth activesync to get internet connection:
1. No more hassle setting wificard (especially with damn $^$*!#[email protected] driver from sandisk).
2. Bluetooth Use less power than wifi on PPC.
3. No protuding out SD card on PPC.
4. Same coverage range (I use 100m bluetooth dongle).
5. Wifi on public place? I don't think I have a time for it.

help needed to connect mda vario to wi-fi

i have been trying to get my mda vario to connect to my aol wi-fi network for over 2 weeks.
i searched xda-developers.com and found a few usefull things but i still can't get my mda vario to connect to my wi-fi network
can sum1 plz help me, i'm goin mad here
Hello, did you mean your home Wi-fi network? If so I did have the same problem before, and now everything seems OK.
What I did was:
1. Upgrade the phone to the Qtek newest ROM (though I'm not sure if this is imperative).
2. Settings -> Connections -> Network Cards -> click SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter, then roll down the option above "My network card connects to" -> The Internet -> OK
3. Turn on Wi-Fi, maximum Power Mode for best performance (at least to test).
--> The wireless connection should be established, given you've entered network key of your Wi-Fi network if there's any.
--> Run IE to test, in my case it should start connect to the internet without any problem.
Hope this helps,
PPB
i tried that (except upgrading the rom)
everything was goin fine.
i enterted the net work key
but then a message came up about "uable to obtain server assigned ip address. try again later or enter an ip address in network settings"
Hi,
Did you do so while connected with you PC? If so try remove the ActiveSync cable.
IP should usually be automatically assigned by your Wi-Fi router.
