Setting up XDA2 with Sandisk wifi - Networking

I've finally managed to get my Sandisk wifi card working with my XDA2 using Socket drivers but I still cannot get IE to connect to the net using a wifi connection? What settings must I use to get the thing to work? Thanks.

SDIO wi-fi card for xda mini?

hi, any suggestion which sdio wi-fi card that will best work with the xda mini? i tried to search the web but no particular sdio was mentioned that is compatible with the mini. also, a linksys router is being used at the office.
1) does it matter or any sdio will work provided that i have the drivers installed on my mini?
2) am i correct that if ever i will connect to any hotspots or even at our office (using wi-fi), i will not be charged by my carrier for the connection?
any help would be highly appreciated. i just dont want to end up spending money on SDIO card and later on will not work with my mini. thanks very much!

1) all with available drivers should work. I use the SanDisk Wifi with 256 MB Memory without problems
2) I think this depens on your settings. Normally you're right, but if you are doing some things with your connection profiles you can get a probelm, that you're gprs connection would be used....

Exactly
Isn't it easier and faster to just get a WiFi card and plug it into your laptop?
Did it not come with one already?

Unfortunatelly, the best way for this kind of conneciton - is JUST TO BUY a $20 WIFI CARD for your laptop.
I have an older laptop too, and would like to use my QTEK9000 as an USB external WIFI card using th einternet connection sharing on the device - but no luck so far.
you may try this approach: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=453&more=1
but is is a painfull way and still doesnt help much (only HTTP).
So, the PCMCA WIFI $20 expence is stil the best solution.

using 8525 as a USB WiFi card

I know that using Wmodem I can use the 8525 to connect my laptop to the internet through the Cingular data network.
But I have an old laptop that doesn't have an in-built wireless card.
Can I use the 8525 to connect my laptop to my home WiFi network ?
I guess no, there is no way to connect wifi card in tytn (TIACXWLN1) to PC, and also driver should be problem... maybe is a way to route internet throught NAT or somethink like that to USB port and Active sync with speciall program written for WM5/6, but I never heard about that.

PDA as Wifi USB

Hi all... I have a question: is there a way (a software, a trick....) to use my PDA as a wifi usb adaptor? i want to connect it to mt notebook and connect to a WLAN connected to internet...
i've found the thread with Pocket PC Proxy... do you think u can use it? hoìw can i charge the ip address of activesync?
i think PocketPCProxy uses bluetooth to transfer wifi network, double check it.
I believe this may help you (turns your phone into a wifi hotspot)

I think he refers not to using his phone to GET the internet through the WIFI card in his computer but to use his cell phone AS the WIFI card for his computer because he doesn't have a card.
