Slow Reconnect to Carrier - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

i travel by nyc subway train everyday and i noticed that it takes a while for my Jam to reconnect to my carrier network (t-mobile USA) when i come back out of the station.
i typically enter the subway with an established carrier connection (both active gprs and in-active voice) and the phone goes into seach mode (i guess) because the antenna icon shows the dots expanding out and the gprs shows two large arrows pointing in opposite directions without the little "g"). when i come out of the subway, it stays in search mode for at least 5 - 10 minutes until it reconects to t-mobile. if i turn the radio off and on quickly (put it into and out of flight mode), it re-connects right away.
does anyone know if this is normal? regardless, is there anyway to make the Jam reconnect faster?
thanks,
-C

Signal Strength?

I have the UK T-mobile MDA Pro and am having all sorts of problems with the connection to T-mobile. If I am sat at home I get 1 or 2 bars (50-70% according to Hudson Phone Dashboard) and this is fine unless I ask the phone to do anything, open software, menu, etc.
In which case the signal strength disappears completely and then the phone sits for 1-2mins until it finds the signal again and the process then repeats...
Has anyone else seen this or do I have a defective unit??
Cheers
Andy
Mine sometimes switches between UTMS and GRPS if I try connecting to anything, but only if I'm in a ****e coverage area (mainly at work).
BTW, I don't suppose u have call timers working right on hudson phone dash with the MDA Pro?

Andy,
I had something that looks a little bit like it. The phone kept searching for a connection when trying to work wit MSN.
I put my phone settings on : settings/phone/band and set network type to GSM, when I am in Holland. So don't keep it on "auto"
When I am here in Romania however I can switch it back to auto and do not have the problem. It switches to the battrery consuming UMTS however. If I put it back on GSM it stays on GPRS however.
Huib
I have already tried setting the phone on Manual GSM - 1800... which improves the speed at which it reconnects but doesn't seem to eliminate the problem of the disconnections...
I know the signal isn't fantastic here but I have an old nokia 6210 with a tmobile payg sim in it and that always has 1-2 bars and has never lost it's signal...
I just tried putting it back on Auto... Then open messages and right on cue it lost the signal...
What do other people think? Does this sound faulty to you?

A very interesting predicament indeed ie HELP

so here i go
i have just received my jasjar from SBE after them having it for over two month (complete morons over there dont EVER use then unless you are obliged to). got it back, worked fine for a week and now, it will ONLY log on to UMTS networks for example im sitting at home i have a U symbol and 2 bars signal strength. I go into phone settings and select GSM instead of auto and it stays searching for 10 minutes then says no signal, i can get it to join the network if i select manually my network but i can then make no calls or texts or log on to the gprs network. i am using pocket phone thingy for the today screen. and here comes the wierd part. when im out of signal in a non umts area the today screen plug in reports a signal strength ie 63% and above it it states attempting voice connection. and HERE THE REALLY WEIRD PART. i still receive my cell broadcasts when out of gsm signal. ie its searching and ill get a 'text' saying 0208, 01829 .
Please help and dont tell me i have to send it back to the idiots at SBE

Poor Data and Cell Reception S5

I have an S5 that when next to 3 other phones in my house receives no signal (data or cell). I have to walk completely outside and its still spotty. Could it have bad antennas? and if so is it just the wire antennas or is there another piece that receives signals?
Past history: stopped using this phone probably 8-12 months ago because of this problem and now just did a factory reboot and re register on the network. and up until the factory reboot the phone wouldn't even register itself on any network or connect to any service even though it showed signal bars. It would either start to make a call and long pause and hang up or just go straight to an "emergency calls only" pop up. When looking on the about phone and status page there wee no registration on the status page.

Refresh network (operators)

I'm using a provider which offers national roaming. This means if my network provider (let's name it A) doesn't have a (good) signal, phone switches to another network provider B (for which they have a contract). While on network B, I can call, SMS without limitation, but I'm limited to EDGE while using the mobile network.
It works ok, but there are some cases when I wish to change network faster.
For example - I came to the shopping center and in one part of it, the phone loses signal with my network provider A. It switches to provider B and then often stays with provider B (on roaming) too long. Even if I came out of center where my provider A has 4G, phone still uses provider B ... often quite a long time.
I can go to Settings, but it is quite deep and you can't create a shortcut to there. And it also takes quite a long because of the phone checks for all networks in surroundings.
What I want is just a simple jump to my provider A as quick as possible.
Any idea? I saw some apps on Google's Play which refresh network. Maybe this will be a solution.
Probably there is a setting for refreshing somewhere on Android system?
Turn on airplane mode until the data indicator goes away and then turn it back off
Interesting I have the same problem. I always change manually which is very annoying

Thanks.
I'm sure that I have tried this in the beginning. And it didn't work (maybe I change the state too fast and phone didn't disconnect the first network).
I will try this again when the described problem occurs again.
I have tried with airplane mode today (for about 10 seconds), but if reconnect again to roaming provider. After a minutes or two, it automatically reconnects to my main provider.
I didn't look at the phone all the time, because I was driving ... so I will try with this again.
I have tried again (different location and time) and it doesn't work. It simply reconnects to roaming. If I stay there for an hour or more, then it will reconnect to the main provider. Quite annoying.

Data connection loss (on Tele2) hangs on H+

Hi all.
I’m experiencing a problem with my dataconnection which renders my data connection almost unusable.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction!
The situation, I am using a Oneplus 6T with 2 sim-cards. One for calls one for data. The sim I use for data loses the connection multiple times while commuting to work (train).
It happens on the same locations so I assume it has to do with switching between towers. The connections completly drops to no signal (the other card still has a signal).
After the connection drop one of the following happens:
- Reconnect to 4G after a few secons to minute(s)
- Reconnects to H+ and stays connected to H+ until I switch aiplane mode on and off). Even when getting of the train and waiting on the same spot it hangs on H+ until I use airplane mode.
What did I already try.
- New SIM card from provider (Tele2)
- Complete profile reset by provider and check of APN settings
- Tried both SIM slots
- Tried the SIM card in another telephone (connection does not completely drop)
- Use another provider (T-Mobile) with this phone. The data connections seems to work fine on T-Mobile.
So it looks like a combination between Tele2 and the Oneplus.
(By the way Tele2 falls back to h+ and 3g from T-mobile if they can't provide 4G)
Thanks for reading and all tips and tricks.
