Been having a problem on my XDA II in that when I receive a call and answer it, it takes a few seconds before I can hear the other person. Sometime it woks fine and others the person can hear me but I can't hear them ?
It has been back for repair 3 times and it still does the same thing. The speaker is fine as it works loud and clear, it's only on incoming calls not on outgoing.
The place where I have bought it will now swap it out for a XDA IIi as you cant get the II anymore around here. That's great but I would still like to know why it went wrong ? Anyone got any clues ?
plz explain what is delayed.
Could it be just too much s/w running?
I found that when I am running activesync, calendar & contacts sometimes there is an awful delay in the response of the MDAII. Especially the BT headset has delays then of more then 20seconds (so I answer call on MDAII and then transfer it to headset when this occurs).
delay on phone
 Me too!
Not sure if I should answer on screen, accept or reject,or green button. Both seem to delay, often with caller ringing again.
When the phone rings and you answer it. You hear nothing. It's a case of hello ? hello ? etc. They can hear you but I can't hear them then all of a sudden their sound will just kick in.
Actually sometimes when I dial out, I never hear a ringing tone and all of a sudden the person cuts in.
There is a delay. I have no software running at all. It does this from a hard reset as well.
What bugs me is that it has gone back 3 times and they claim it has been tested and fixed. It clearly hasn't.
Hope the XDA IIi is better, cos this was very annoying.
Hi Ekko,
Would you happen to be running Pocket Bluetooth Tools?
Cheers,
Pete
Hi, the phone was fine until about 6 mths old when it started doing this. I had Pocket Bluetooth on it and it used to be totally fine. This never affected it at all.
Obviously once this problem arose, I have hard reset the machine on a number of occasions and have used it as a clean machine. Same problem ? So not down to Bluetooth Tools.
Hands Free mode
In order to use an Himalaya with a BT headset you need to run 2.20 translated. The Hands Free profile works better and it will even support caller ID and there is no delay when answering calls.

There seems to be a very annoying bug on my new XDAII that is running the 1.6O O2 ROM.
If I am on the phone and i receive a call that alerts me that there is a call is waiting, and I decline to answer it, the sound is cut off and I can't hear the caller anymore. Cancelling the current call and re-dialling is the only way of getting 'sound back'.
Furthtermore, another irritating bug is that if the phone rings and I answer after only 1-2 rings, I can't hear anything for a few seconds and have to wait those couple of seconds before i can speak to the other person. This doesn't seem to happen if the call is answered after 3-4 rings.
Any help would be appreciated.
Me too - only answer I found was to turn off call waiting.
Poor solution.
Same for me, i too had to turn off call waiting, however i found that if you are using a bluetooth headset when the second call comes in and you decline to answer it, it just transfers the current call the the phone and you can continue it there
Same problem here.
I find that if you put the call on hold and then resume - the voice will come back.
VERY irritating.
Same for me too, I have T-Mobile 1.60 and using BTHTools 1.1.0.0...
Do you use BTHTools?
yes l am using BT tools.
regards,
hasnain
I performed a hard reset...
Did NOT install BT Tools - and had the same problem.
Mine did this long before using BT tools also.
I also have the same problem....
Is it an incompatibility between the phone and Bt Tools?
Is there any solution other than turning off call waiting?
Does anyone face the 2nd problem that I mentioned:
Sometimes when I pick up the phone after it rings, it takes a couple of seconds before i can hear the caller. This happens more often when picking the phone up within 1 or 2 rings.
This problem was aroung in the I-mate ROM 1.66.
They fixed both with the 1.72 ROM.

i DON'T THINK THIS IS FIXED IN 1.72. i STILL HAVE THESE SAME PROBLEMS TOO, RUNNING t-MOBILE 1.72.
While running 1.60 I replaced the Radio Stack only with the O2 original release version - sorry don't remember version number - and it worked without these two very annoying bugs in the phone. i think it is a problem with the readio stack version only.
After losing the voice with an incoming call I can get the voice back without redialing by placing the call on hold and then resuming.
I have the same problems with or without bluetooth tools and with or without a BT headset.
Now, I have T-Mobile's 1.72 installed and am afraid to reload the working radio stack becasue of the "downgrade disaster" with 1.72. I am anxiously waiting for either a stable 1.72 or XDA Developers to help us out of this mess with this ****ty ROM.
This forum is fantastic. Thanks to everyone.
Steve
I had the problem in the 1.66 ROM, and no longer have it with 1.72!
I've just installed the new O2 1.72 ROM and am still having the same problem.
I am also suffering from a problem I was having on the old ROM. Many times when I receive a call and press the green answer button, it takes between 2-5 seconds for me to hear the person calling. The person calling also hears a similar period of slience before he/she can hear me.
The same thing also happens sometimes when I call out, where only once 2-3 rings into the call or if the other party has already picked up thephone can I hear or say something.
I'm not sure if caller ID or Photo ID has anything to do with it as I have around 1380 contacts on my xda.
This problem is extremely annoying and was wondering if there is anyone out there who has faced the problem and may have an answer for it.
Us too
We have two xda2 with 1.72, and same thing, there is a 5 second delay upon recieving any call, and sometimes there is a hangup duriong call waiting???
I never had that problem until I installed Bluetooth Tools...now it always happens. Though as someone's suggested, holding and resuming seems to do the trick.
I nearly always use a BT headset for calls since the Wing is a pain to hand hold while talking.
Nearly all people I talk to complain of a "screetch" type of sound when I answer a call with my BT headset. I've tried three different headsets, same result. The noise does not happen when I initiate the call, and I cannot hear the noise when I answer the call. at frst I thought it was just a one time event, but callers tell me the problem is consistent and loud enough that they keep their phone away from their ear when I answer.
Using a stock Wing (TMO factory ROM) with either a Jabra BT500 (most of the time), a Plantronics 590 or a Plantronics 6xx headset, same result with all.
Anyone experience similar or have ideas how to resolve?
Noone has mentioned it to me yet (just got my wing yesterday) but my MDA definitely did that on occassion. Only did it when it was on vibrate too...I think people were actually hearing the mechanical vibration on their end. And it only happenned via BT...which made it even stranger since that meant the mic wasn't even part of the phone.
Amazing, that's exactly what the problem was!
Apparently even when you answer via BT, the internal microphone is enabled for a second or two and it picks up the sound of the vibration motor.
Thanks for the advice, now to gripe to TMO or someone about the problem for what it's worth.
my mda has been doing the same thing for the past 2 days... but on all calls incoming and outgoing without the bt and it starts up with the bt but stops after a second.. is there anything to do to fix it?
Hi
just got a new Jawbone (after realising my faithful Parrot Minikit didn't work very well with my Vario III) which is working nicely with my Vario III, MS Voice Command working properly and the quality seems to be very good. One piece of curious behaviour though is the phone ringing. When a call comes in the Jawbone rings but the phone only vibrates. I can't get both the phone and the Jawbone to ring - this is annoying because whilst its a pretty comfortable headset I dont want to wear it all the time in the car or whenever its connected.
Can anybody confirm this also happens with theirs? The only thing I have that could possibly be messing it up is SPB Phone Suite
Many thanks
Dave
Unfortunately, this is normal behavior.
thats a shame, I was hoping it wasn't meant to be that way. Anyway the Jawbone may have to go as its pretty quiet even after adjusting the volume settings.
thanks
D
just done a hard reset, paired the Jawbone and now both ring on an incoming call! Now got to start adding the progs back one by one to see what the issue is, this could take some time...

Interesting. Let us know!
actually i just reinstated a backup from the night before as a test and its working as I wanted still (both headset and Jawbone ringing). I dont know whats changed.
The only difference is that before the reset the Jawbone ringing tone was the phones tone (a wav file, or MP3 I cant remeber which!) and now it just blips three times while the phone rings its proper ringtone.
Either way everything currently working as it should (although I expect it to go wrong again soon!)

Do voice announcements work? I bought a Motorolla H12 and I just bursts of statc
for some reason incoming call announcements dont seem to work but it reads new txt messages and emails as they come in
Hey folks,
I've been struggling with this issue for months now and couldn't find a solution yet. Had the same problem with my Polaris before.
When using BT Handsfree profile, either with my Jabra 250 headset or with my built in car handsfree (Parrot) I get a more or less big delay after accepting a call until the audio stream is transferred from my phone to the BT device.
Meaning, accepting the call in the car results in like 5 seconds delay until I can actually hear what the person on the other end is saying. Until then the voice is still routed via the phones builtin speaker, as if no BT device would be connected.
Same happens with my Jabra headset, though the delay is less there. Maybe 2-3 seconds sometimes.
I tried playing around with Shaps Advanced Config or HD Tweak Bluetooth settings, but no luck so far :-(
Could anyone who is using BT handsfree devices, especially car kits, tell me if you get your audio on your BT device right away, without delay on your BT device? If yes, please tell me exactly what settings you are using for your BT on the phone, e.g. Bitpool min/max, Audio Gateway on/off, Joint Stereo Yes/No etc.
Please let me know if ya using S2U2 as well, I think this could add up to the problem, though for me I still have the issues when I disable S2U2
thanks,
boba
i am using a Bury comfort BT and it rings 2-3 seconds b e f o r e my phone rings! i did not tweaked any settings in my HD. i am not using s2u2.
I also have a Parrot in car hands-free system. Have to say, whilst there are and have been some 'issues' (from time to time) a long delay when an incoming call is accepted isn't one I get.
I don't have the 2 programs you mentioned, as I'd not heard of them before - so I'm running my HD (as far as BT goes at least) in stock trim - FYI I have the auto-answer selected (in 'Settings>Phone>More') set to talk after 4 rings, as a personal pref.
I do have issues with the BT on these phones - I think it's a WinMo thing though, as it's been the same on all the WinMo phones I've had - the BT is pretty retarded unfortunately and it's the one major gripe I have with it and ultimately 'put up with' (very begrudgingly, as it's a feature I use a lot)
Issues are;
Occasionally the phone will answer instead of the car kit (if it's in my pocket - although I may have solved that by having pocketshield 'slide to answer' on there now)
It will NOT auto-answer at all on my BT stereo headphones NOR [more annoyingly] my Scala-Rider motorcycle helmet kit (where every other 'normal' phone I have had has done so with no issues at all)
Every now and again it will freeze the car-kit by showing that there is an active call, when there isn't - and the only way out of it is a soft reset of the HD itself
I only wish there was a fix/tweak for the BT in WinMo - but it seems that most programmers don't see this as a priority area and as such it's not been resolved - maybe 6.5 will address it...but I'm not holding my breath!
Hello, same problem with my Motorola bt350, with and without s2u2.
Same with stock ROM or with dutty's ROM and other.
Its a known win 6.1 BT stack issue.
Regards
T
@ boba23
If you find a fix for that issue please tell me!!! its so annoying

Same issues here. Anyone find a fix.
thought it was mine in car blue tooth that has this problem...good (or bad?) to know that it's not an isolated incident.
same issue...
I have parrot MK9000 and HTC BH S100 (stereo). The delay is the same. I do not think there is going to be a solution.
Ι have the transfer delay BT issue here too.... the others person voice is going out from the phone for 2-5 sec and suddenly its transferred to BT heasedet.
Preety annoying, it happens to all my ΒΤ headssets (Jabra , Samsung) the dead seconds just varies.
Plz guys anyone who has solved this let me know

Bumping this thread up again, since I am still facing the delay issue. I am pretty sure it's not ROM related, since I had this issue with all 6.1 roms I tried. Right now using Topix 2.7.
Played around with Advanced Config BT settings again, but I still have that incoming call delay with my Jabbra BT250. Mostly takes 3-4 seconds, after accepting an incoming call till I hear sound on my headset. I really can't believe that this is an issue that only a few ppl are facing. I have nothing spectacular installed, even disabled S2U2 to see if that helps, but nothing :-(

I think this has to do with a combination hands-free / rom version. I have a built in car kit and if I accept the call with phone answer I get the voice right away on the car kit. If I accept it on the radio, it will take 2-4 seconds before sound is transferred to car kit.
I've made another test on a parrot car kit, with same ROM version as before, and it behavior was diferent. If I accept the call on the car kit button, the sound is transferred immediately to the car, if I accept the call on phone button, I get instant sound, but on the phone - private mode....
I made also this test with a plantronics headset, and the sound is transferred right away to the headset either I accept the call on the headset or the phone
so
I am using topix 2.9.4 6.1 rom version - but already tested with several 6.1 roms and 6.5 - behavior is more or less the same

Hi Boba, you're not alone I use BT sometimes as a backup.. and I too have an annoying delay of several seconds... at that very moment I think "hey where's the incoming call", I then hear the sound from the normal phone speaker, and when I switch to the normal phone again the sound is passed to BT ....
Bluetooth Incoming Call Delay
Has anyone come across a solution for this yet?
I have always had a 1-2 second delay in being able to hear the caller using my BT250 headset but, after installing the Orange update ROM, the delay seems to have increased to 3-4 seconds. The caller can hear straight away though.
I have just purchased a BT2020 headset and the delay is still 3-4 seconds.
I am not confident in installing different ROMs (because of my limited knowledge) but would install any that will eradicte this really annoying delay. Any suggestions?

Just spoke with Orange Technical Helpdesk and they are sending me a new handset.......will publish result.
Hello XDA crew,
I have some problems and I hope you can help me with that. Xperia phone is really cool but one thing for me is really annoying. And that is the calling performance of Xperia.
These are the main problems:
1. When I plug in the headset, the ringtone plays both on the headset speakers and the phone speaker. Is there a way to let the ringtone play only on the headset speakers?
2. When I plug in the headset, the microphone of the headset isnt active. Only the microphone of the phone is active. So, people can not understand me when I speak to the headset microphone. But they can hear me when I talk to the microphone of Xperia.
These are some other problems but not so important for me:
3. The volume of the call is too high. Even when I set the volume low, people can hear the person who I am talking with.
4. Microfone of Xperia get active after for about two seconds when I answer the phone. So, I have to wait for about 2 seconds to say 'hi'.
5. The answer button of the headset doesn't work.
Can someone help me with this problems or just one of these problems?
Note: I have hardreset my phone two times and reinstalled the ROM software one time via SEUS. I didnt get any result. I have the original Vodafone R2 software.
I have the 2 second delay too. Using gtrab wm6.5 custom rom

Unplug the headphone jack during a call and plug again (during the same call) and press the answer button. It will terminate the call and start working (until your next xperia soft reset). Double-press the answer button when idle, and it will repeat the last call. If that doesn't work, try it again and again after the first trick of plugging/unplugging and it will work on your 4th/5th try. From then on, all answer/hangup/'repeat last call' functions will work. Until you soft reset of course.
I'm calling a toll free (service center) number to do the trick whenever I have to use the handsfree.

It works (on a WM6.5 rom also)
Nice little trick there, thanks
Tnx for the trick vanauberjim. So it seems more like a hardware problem. Anyway, I will try it tomorrow. Hope that the main problems also be solved like this.
Both 2. and 5. get fixed with the trick, but I just hope SE will find a permanent fix. It's not a solution to unplug and replug the headphones during calls.
My question is: are we the only 3 persons that have this problem? Is this problem originally caused by the headset hardware? Is it caused because the plug is so tight that it severely scratched the middle ring in the headphone jack and it can't always make a connection with the middle ring (the microphone one)? How many people have this problem?
Have the same problem
I do have the same problem and workaround works for mee to but it is annoying!
@vanauberjim, I can ensure you that we are definitely not the only one with these problems. I saw on a popular dutch forum that a lot of people have exactly the same problem.

Have you tested with another hands-free set ? is it the phone or the hands-free causing the problem?
I have send my hands-free to SE yesterday so they will check it and if it was ok I will send the phone back.
About 3 seconds of delay when I answer , I haven't done anything yet , is it a bug , I mean do we have this problem or every X1 out there.
Ok, post back soon because if it's faulty hands free we only have 6 months warranty on handsfree (and battery) and time's running out. The phone has 2 years warranty so we have plenty of time for its handset's faults.
I got the same problems, is annoying BTW ... and about the trick mmm quiet annoying as well, but if is the only way to make it work, no more than just do it.

I think it's a phone problem. I use the original headset and sometimes when I plugin the headset the phone calles the person who I have called earlier. Now I have another stupid problem. When I plugout the headset, the phone still thinks that the headset is plugged in on the phone. I see the headset icon on the phone and when I call someone, I cant hear and speak with the person. Only way I can do this is to plugin the headset again and speak that way. When I plugin and plugout for several times, the headset icon dissapears and I can make my call again without a headset. I think that alle these problems are because the jack plug doesn't function good.
Another issue. I call it issue because it's not a problem, but just a stupid choise of sonyericsson:
- Some soundnotifications during calling like 'busy tone' or 'waiting tone' plays from the main speaker of the phone in instead of the calling/ear speaker. This way, all the people who are sitting next to you hears that the person who you are calling is busy
It will be for the 4th time that I go to the shop with a problem. So I will ask to the shopper if I can choose another phone. I'm thinking about the Touch Pro 2. I'm sick of the problems of Xperia. Don't think that HTC will have the same problems.
