Hello. Hope this helps.
I flashed my german MDA C with the imate ROM. Everything worked fine, except the connection with GPRS.
For example, when I connected to the Internet (I use the german Vodafone Provider), the connection was stable. But only for this one connection.
When I disconnected pressing the red button longer than 2 seconds, I never was able to get a new connection (Error Message, that no connection could be made by unknown causes). The only way to get out of this mess, was a Soft-Reset.
Another problem was: When receiving an MMS, there was no way to get a connection to the Internet after that (Error Message, that no connection could be made by unknown causes). Only way to get out of this, was to make another Soft-Reset.
I did the following:
Start-->Programs--> Wireless Modem-->Tools-->Options
I unchecked the "Preset GPRS Connection" (it was checked by default).
Since then.....everything works as it should
Ok, the GPRS Connection doesnt disconnect automatically after using it, but it re-connects after using the "Red-Button-Workaround".
Hope, I can help with this.

thanks man i will try it i have been having problems with my gprs connection..... another thing what is "Red-Button-Workaround" ?
Hi.
The Jam, can't disconnect automatically.
With the "workaround" I meant, that you can disconnect GPRS connection by pressing the red button about two seconds.
Hope this helps.

The problem is not magician only, see this thread at Tekguru,
Restore default
I had the same problem, have made a hard reset and all he works well is always connected also after before the time. I have made the backup. Then I have modified the configurazini in order to try the wap and have modified the proxy after made the same error did not connect the second time. I have restored the backup and all it works. It must be something that wines modified in the registry when it modifies the logon formulations. I trying to understand what is the problem. Excused for my English.
Why start a new thread on this issue, when there's already a very active thread here, with what appears to be a solution?
The original thread (with what seems to possibly be the solution) can be found here:

Hi guys,
I'm all new to your forum...
I have the o2 xdII, xdaIIs and now i'm using the xda Exec.
I have a strange problem that even o2 technical support team can't fix...
When i start internet explorer it will connect to either gprs or 3g (whatever is available). when i finish browsing the internet, i just close internet explorer and then close the connection by clicking the disconnect button. Where my problem is, is when i want to reconnect to the internet again (say 5 mins after i close the last connection), i cant get any connection whatsoever. I have a good receiption (gprs and 3g). And i have this weird message :
Dialed: mobile.o2.co.uk
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
So after a lot of talking with o2, i still have this problem.
I have tried to uprgrade to the new rom, and nothing, i have change the settings of the cennection, still nothing. i even changed the handset as i and o2 thought it could have been a faulty handset, but still nothing...
The only solution at the present is to do a soft reset everytime i want to connect to the internet... Its very annoying !!!!
Would annyone have a solution ??? Please ?????
Thank you in advance for your help....
Personally; I wouldn't suggest closing the connection and you won't get charged any extra.
this is easy to fix, but you will lose some software you've got installed.
I had this problem and have worked it out to be conflicts between software that handles the phone line. I had mortring, phonealarm and photo contacts pro installed and my gprs would not reconnect after the 2nd attempt. Putting the phone into flight mode and then back into normal mode would allow gprs to reconnect but only once.
So I uninstalled the above 3 applications one by one and found the gprs would reconnect great with only one installed (any one it didn't matter)
So try removing software that handles the phone line until your gprs reconnect works.

Hi,
For 3 times now, my Atom Exec would not dial out! At first I thought the number was busy, but after trying 3 different numbers consecutively I began to suspect it was my phone. I resetted it and it dialed out fine. Anyone with similar problems? I've already updated the ROM twice!
Hi,
I've experienced the same thing before. It got something to do with my GPRS connection.
Call in and out weren't a problem before I applied the "keep GPRS connection" tweak. After applying the tweak, whenever, the phone off after stipulated time delay, say after 2 minutes, Call out cannot be done. The solution is to soft reset or turn-on Flight Mode then back to Normal.
This also happened when I applied the GBsoft tweak that kill the GPRS after , say 5minutes.
Since I have unlimited data connection, I just hard-reset my machine and keep it like that without applying the "Keep GPRS connection" on or the GBSoft tweak.
Regards,
What is a "keep GPRS Connection" tweak? what does it do? I did not apply any tweak....
Hi all,
I currently have an Exec running Crossbow (but this problem predates back to when it was running the stock original ROM)..
I use TomTom a lot on my Exec, I also use a lot of web based services. When travelling around I get a wierd bug in the GPRS / UTMS modem code, the modem will disconnect and is unable to reconnect to GPRS / UTMS with a warning similar to "No Modem at remote address", this is displayed as a popup that you have to click "Dismiss" on, this creates 2 problems:
1. I cannot reconnect to the Internet via GPRS unless I disable phone (enable flight mode) OR reboot my Exec
2. When trying to use TomTom and that popup occurs, it messes up TomTom, I can click dismiss but it repeatedly pops up every minute making navigation impossible (because I have to either quit TomTom and disable/enable phone, or I have to reboot Exec).
Does anyone know how to solve either of these problems? I would prefer to have it so that the Exec silently reconnects and keeps retrying, and if it can't connect it should restart GPRS module.
Thankyou,
*BUMP* Please can someone respond to how to solve this please?
I am having this really funny problem with my wizard. Sometimes when I restart it it does not show the GSM on the splash screen. When it doesn't show I end up having no connection to GPRS. Even the [G] does not show indicating that it is not picking up the GPRS network. What is wrong here? The phone function is working well and I can send and receive text message but I am sooo lost without my GPRS. Please help. Did I deactivate it somewhere??? I have tried the toggle for MoDaCo No Data but it has not helped at all
