MDA III / Qtek 9090 GPRS VPN Issue - Networking

DeviceData: PH20B 0 B ENG G T-MOB009 1.06.00 1.06.135 1.00.00
Update: PH20B 0 B WWE E T-MOB009 1.22.00 0 0 1.22.557 1.06.02 06.02
Here is the prblem:
In short I can't VPN (PPTP) my server through GPRS connection on MDA3.
Details:
1. I CAN connect to my VPN using MDA III and Wi-Fi
2. I CAN connect to my VPN using GPRS through Ericsson T39m and my laptop.
3. I can NOT connect to my VPN using GPRS through MDA III and my laptop.
4. I can NOT connect to my VPN using GPRS on MDA III and built in VPN client.
In 3 and 4 the connection is made but the authentication process fails. I tried to change the GPRS settings on MDA III and I used or possible configuration but it didn't help.
So it looks for me as the problem is only in GPRS part of the MDA III. If anyone has any suggestion how to solve the problem I would appreciate the answer.
Thanks
Piotr Majewski

Have you contacted your service provider for details of the GPRS setting. When I was with Orange they had a specific Access Point Name for connecting to VPN through GPRS. Also see my post from 19th March 11:54 am.

That was it !

You were right. For VPN I have to use a different access point: vpn.idea.pl
Thanks a lot

at the time it wasnt workin, i was on 3.17(went back 2 check somthing out  )...and i did the aoutconfiguration and selected austria, and it worked after that, just very slowly, so i went back to 4.00.21
and it still didnt work...... but then i deleted battery monitur from start up and it workd as fast as usual
any one have a working NBF of 3.20.06 all mine are corrupt
and the radio stack 4.21
Qman whats ur view on RS 4.21?
 cant wait 4 Tmo's official
Hey JUICEeI see you're still at!
Confirming you are in Austria and not the US?
Also what type of Service do you have with T-Mobile?
Because it appears that your trouble maybe in that area. Give them a call and get confirmation on what type of plan/service you have, you might be surprised!
Oh yea as far as RS 4.21 goes it appears your better off using the Qtek 1010 Radio Stack if its for "Non-US" usage.
The Qtek 1010 Radio Stack can be found at:
http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads/asiapacific.htm
Download Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
BTW read the WARNING:
HTH
Qman
I must have confused you 8) I am in USA...Chicago, IL
I tried the Austria config setting to see if their settings would work, which they did, but i went back to WM2003 so thats that
BTW...still using ATT STACK

Yeap I must admit I was a little confused. :?
From what I've read on the other forums the Chicago area is a tuff
place for T-Mobile users. Maybe things will be a little better for you guys
when they release their latest 6.24.1 RS.
IT BETTR BE!
TMO is pretty bad here, but only inside a house, outside its perfect...but when i had 3.17 OS and Tmo stack 6.18 it was working beautifully  but then I got too greedy, and u know what that lead to lol
Connecting to Internet
I have RS 6.24.00 and ROM 4.00.21 using TMO in Austin, TX. I can connect to internet via VPN GPRS connection (internet3.voicestream.com) but not Internet GPRS connection (internet2.voicestream.com). I saw the tip earlier in this thread to use wap.voicestream.com as the Internet GPRS connection. It worked for me!
However, I have a number of apps that won't connect to the web via these connections. Error is, "Update failed, Please make sure you are connected to the internet." PIE (Pocket Internet Explorer) works fine but the following apps can't connect:
1. WorldMate SE2003 (to update weather or currency rates)
Any thoughts folks?
I would switch back to using just the internet3.voicestream.com address. T-Mobile only allows you to connect with one of the first two options (internet2 or internet 3 but not both). WAP is not the same as the GPRS servers....so that might be causing you problems. I personally use internet3 and don't have any issues.
how fast should gprs be ? can some people post their results. It seems like my internet connection is really slow. Initially i had internet2.voicestream.com, i called and have them switched me to internet3.voicestream.com. I thought this would be better but same if not slower results. Any thoughts on how to possibly speed up my internet. I am using a cooked rom version 4.00.16 with 6.18 rsu.

I've been using internet2 for about 9 months, and I get 4-6kbps most of the time, bursting to about 26k peak, according to SPB. However, I also use internet2 for my Sony T610 (I love that phone--great radio for being so feature laden) and when I have my laptop connected to the T610 via IrDA and use it as a GPRS modem, I consistently get 38-40 kbps, 24 hours a day.
Consequently, I suspect there are limitations in the XDA architecture.
Wireless Modem and T-Mobile: Authentication problem?
For me, T-Mobile GPRS connection on the XDA with blank user ID and password works fine, but when I use the PDA as a wireless modem the dialup connection on the desktop is stuck at "Verifying username and password..." stage. Does this meean I have to use some special user/password or is it some other problem? Otherwise I managed to configure the wireless modem correctly, the PC sees it, the Wireless Modem app on XDA flashes the connection and data lights...
BTW in Wireless Modem's log after the dial command and CONNECT I see stuff like
+CME ERROR 137
PDP_DEACTIVATED
I wonder if it's related to my "Verifying username and password..." problem. Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

GPRS, Blackberry, Cingular and AT&T

i have been searching this board for days now and have yet to find any info on getting GPRS working on the old AT&T network. I used to use a blackberry with Exchange email and have only been able to sync up mail when connected via WiFi on networks connected to my corporate network or using ActiveSync.
I used the Unlocker posted on ths board (thanks so much to lokiwiz) and am using summiter's custom ROM2.25 wth a regstry tweaker by Nicodekker (more tweaks would be great!).
i would le to use Cisco's mobile VPN client to connect to my corporate network but can never get GPRS up and running on this old AT&T network.
Anyone have any ideas for me?
Thanks n advance!
Update: i take back one statement... i have found plenty of nfo on GPRS just none that has helped
i also have GPRS set to CHAP authentication and pointed at wap.cingular ...

VPN on Windows mobile 5

Hi,
I am hoping someone out there can help me. I currently have a SPV M600 (Prophet) and I am trying to use the phone to receive my emails.
I VPN in to our network over GPRS which appears to connect fine as I checked the ISA server which shows the connection. However, there is no data transfer. It appears that the VPN is not using the IP address of the network that should be assigned to it, which will not allow it to connect to anything on my network.
Other windows mobile OS work, just seems to be Windows Mobile 5.
Any ideas?

Have you tried to add exceptions in network/advanced tab in connection applet ?
You should try to add these two exceptions: "http://*/*" and "*/*"
Ciao, Francesco
I dont know where you are but here in France, Orange and SFR block VPN traffic, specifically "GRE 43".
It could be much the same problem.

Are you using the built in VPN within WM 5, I know for myself I have to use a more complex VPN client to access my work network. I am currently testing Bluefiresecurity's client, it appears to work well but is a bit expensive at $79. Antha VPN also produce a client but I had problems switching between Wifi and GPRS.
I hope this helps. I am on O2 UK and can access my work network using bluefire.

gprs help

hello can someone help me with my internet problem. im using tesco mobile a sim card but my inernet explorer will not let me connect to any page. the gprs says im connected but no page. im phone is a mda 11i running pug 1.11.162 radio 1.04 camera fix o2 removed. this is starting to bug me now. thanks
Hello,
I think that you should check your GPRS settings and make sure that your proxy and HTTP/WAP ports are correct. Also check the rest IP/DNS settings.
Oh and of coarse is your GPRS access password/user name protected?
Cheers,
Tried using a Tesco SIM when I first purchased Wizard, problem with network will not let you connect. Another network is the only option, Sorry.
