cracked screen already - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi peeps,
Sunday morning was the worst experience ever that I had. I took out me mini and on the screen was a crack. Nothing has happened to the LCD pixels. But the screen just looks terrible. Do you think this is covered by warranty? If not, do you know how much roughly I need to spend to replace the screen?

Did you lend it to anyone, sit on it etc etc? That's what they'll assume... don't see someone offering warranty repair of a cracked LCD, since they'd assume some force would be required to crack it.
Worth a try though.

Urgent help required!!!!

Hi guys,i dropped my phone and my screen stopped responding.it was a nasty hit on my HD so i contacted HTC here in Cyprus and they told me that is the screen and its gone!!!They do not cover drops and they are overpriced in changing my screen cause they say that the bezel has to be changed too!
Does anyone know where i can find a fully assembled screen with the bezel so i can do it my self??If not does anyone has any idea how the screen seperates from the bezel along with the digitiizer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Does it have cracks? If not:
My suggestion, Go to another HTC centre and simply say screen is not working. Let them find the cause See what they quote. If it is a micro-crack or something not visible to naked eye they might simply replace it for benefit of doubt under warranty. I had a very trivial fall of my Nokia and I saw that LCD stopped working. No cracks nothing. I went to svc centre and they replaced it. When I asked why it happened they said sometimes LCDs do fail..
Some others may be upset with my suggestion though.. but worth trying. I think they should have given a better prot4ection or more easy replaceability of the glasstop/digitiser.

You can buy replacement screens on ebay.

How to polish or replace the screen on a Topaz?

My Topaz screen has developed a disappointing amount of scuff marks in the four months I've had it, making it not quite as clear to read in a few specific areas as I'd like.
Does anyone know of products or services to polish or replace the screen?
And, thereafter, any product (preferably cheap so I can replace it occasionally as needed) which will protect the screen without noticeably reducing the touch sensitivity? (Since the Topaz touchscreen just isn't quite as good as some of its competitors in sensitivity to start with).
Thanks!
Jay
you have to replace the digitizer, do a search on "digitizer" in this forum. you can get them as low as 20$ on ebay. I just bought one, but I haven't got it yet.. with screen protector I don't know..
if you still have the htc warranty u should send it in

I checked with the authorized vendor from whom I purchased my device. They replied that the warranty doesn't cover screen scratches. Much as I'd like the warranty to cover this, I can't see how it should...
Given that warranties, by statute here in Spain, are 2 years, I'm not going to void it by opening the device and replacing the digitizer myself (my device is less than six months old, and something more important - and covered by a non-voided warranty - might happen in the next 18 months). So I'll check with official tech support and see what they charge for replacing the screen (in a way that doesn't void the warranty).
Oh well...

oh ok sorry for that, now i understand.
let me ask you a question. are there dust particles getting into your device? if so then you can ask them to replace the digitilizer for you.
for me dust was getting into the screen on the top left corner and i told them and they called me and told me that they were going to replace the digitilizer.
Nope, no dust, just my own scratches. Heh.
Yeah, I'd seen the discussions about dust getting in. Unfortunately, I don't have that problem to leverage as a way to get HTC to pay for my new digitizer screen :-}
Thanks anyway everyone, cheers.

This is what screen protectors are for. HTC phones comes with one in the box. All the phones I own, their screens look brand new. The HTC Screen protectors are actually pretty nice quality.
Same, look on Ebay for some good screen protectors...
Quik - HTC Touch Diamond2 Twin Screen Protector Pack - these are fantastic ! A class above the standard one- if anything better ssurface than the stanard screen.. and yes you're supposed to put them on at the beginning , but you might fine that they cover the scratches well enough
get them from Amazon

Need help urgent!!!

Hi all, I am really really hoping that someone here can help me. I dropped my HD2 today and the screen just shattered. I rang HTC but since the phone has not been launched here in Australia they can not help me. I need to get a new screen but have no idea where from. Can anyone please help me on where to get a replacement screen. I was shocked at how the screen shattered, But I guess thats what happens with glass..lol..Thank in advance for any help
This is the drawback with glass screens, you get much better resistance to scratches but it becomes much more liable to shattering or cracking when dropped. A work colleague has had this happen to two separate iPhones.
As for your issue I can't really help, I doubt anyone else can either - given how new the phone is it's unlikely there is any means of getting the screen replaced outside of HTC doing the job even if you lived in a country where it's been released. However, I will suggest the first thing you do when and if you get it replaced is buy some sort of cover, this will reduce the chances of a screen shatter on being dropped dramatically. Here is the one I have purchased, it should be arriving today.

Thanks mate, I have a cover and screen protector on it's way which I ordered on the weekend..bummer it's too late eh..lol..if all else fails I will buy another one and claim it on insurance if I can and either keep the old one for a spare or try and sell it for parts..it still works perfect just has a shattered screen .but thanks for your input mate, I appreciate it
I noticed that they still work too, both my colleague's iPhones (he dropped and broke both in work in the space of a few months) still had fully functioning touchscreens despite the glass being completely shattered.
Yeah it's funny how they still work fine. My old Samsung HD bounced about 3 times and went for a skid..lol..Just found out that I can claim it on my House insurance which will get me a new one..This time I will have a cover ready for it

Shattered glass

This morning I stupidly shattered the glass on my HN8. I propped it up whilst talking on Skype then it fell face down on the floor. The glass is completely shattered. However the the digitiser and touch screen all appear to be working fine with no bleed or loss of touch sensitivity anywhere on the screen. So I'm guessing I could just replace the glass or get one of these little repair shops you see around to do it? Any advice would be great right now. Seems such a shame. Saw a German Youtube on how to change the glass on a Huawei P8 possibly looks like it might be a bit too involved for my skill level?
Going to get it fixed at local mobile repair shop. £195 and it will take about a month. Moral of the story DO NOT DROP and smash your screen!!! Had a look on ebay and a few other places £150 for digitiser and screen frame, but not brave enough to attempt repair myself. The only good thing to come out of this is when I get it back. Nougat might be available. Did I mention... Don't drop your phone and smash your screen?

Also I hate Big bulky cases. The Handset is big enough. I realise It probably would have spared my screen, but still. Thanks for taking time to offer a solution though. Appreciated!!!:good:
I have already handed my device in for repair. doesn't look too involved in this video. However I still don't feel confident enough to attempt something like this. Maybe the next time I shatter the screen In all seriousness though Just be aware if you fix your phone by yourself or get it done like I have, It's not going to be a cheap, quick job.
Take good care of your HN8'sguys!

Like I said, I took it in for repair to a repair shop so, They are sourcing digitiser display. Probably One from China I would imagine.
You can get the LCD assembly on Aliexpress for 120GBP/148USD/198AUD
I think it's a bit cheaper than eBay.

Hello guys, i have a problem with my htc u ultra, i got an yellow stain on my display near the buttons and its a big one.

Seems like none. It is quite uncommon phone so aftermarket parts will be really hard to get. (Plus the service will be a pain because back cover is glued and will surely crack while opening!)
Nea, it wont crack, with a heat gun you can open it.
The problem is what screen is a good replacement
