Before when I used to click Tools -> Connect via Bluetooth, there used to be a BT bonding prompt that used to come up, but now there is no response at all. I even tried soft reseting the device, and still no response.
BT seems to be working normally though, as in, I can bond with devices, but it's only that button in ActiveSync that doesn't work for some reason. The Options button works, and so does the Connect via IR button.
I have had That Happened to me before... I deleted the Device (my PPC) from the bluetooth Devices on my PC and re-did it from the start...
It is working fine now

Has anyone succeeded yet, I've got a belkin bt card F8T002 and xp, I can get the devices to bond but that's it, no sync. When I try from xda2 i get some message saying the port may be in use. Also the belkin info says I should be able to see several icons from My Bluetooth Places, I've got nothing, and after I set up the configuration, the information doesn't seem to be saved, when I re-enter the configuration I have to put it all in again.
It's a bit of a bugger really
Hy!
I've an xdaII.
I've the same problem with the USB Dongle's 3Com : 3CREB96B (on my PC).
Activesync doesn't initialisate, but i can send and received files by transfer without activesync.
I borrowed a Blue Tooth dongle from a friend at work. I got the ActiveSync running fine after a bit of messing about. It worked fine both for browsing and syncing with outlook
I only got it to work by selecting 'Connect via Bluetooth'. As this was some days ago and I've not yet had the chance to borrow the BT dongle again I'm not quite sure what I did.
However IMHO Bluetooth is one of the worst connection systems I've had to work with in a very long time .... Last time it was this bad was when you had to use a third party TCP/IP stack with Windows 3.1
Bluetooth Sync
unpair your XDA II and your PC. Then modify the below registry and pair again. After Pairing, run your Activesync in your XDA II and click Connect via Bluetooth in the tools
\HLKM\SOFT\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Activesync
IsBTASsetup from 0 to 1
Dear all, is that possible to activesync mini and pc without USB? Whenever using usb to sync, mini will be charged. Can i prevent this auto charging problem coz lets say the battery in my mini is always full, will it do any harm when it keep charging whenever we activesync? If we can activesync using BT, what is the procedure?
Just go to bluetooth settings and do activesync setup. you will need to re pair your PC. works really well.
rmg, what do u mean by repair the pc, can u provide me with more details and step on doing this, appreciate your help thanks
rmg, i did what u told me, but when i click start button on the "bluetooth activesync setup:" the message box come out "please start bounding with other bluetooth device which support serial port or activesync profile as your activesync partner". i cannot get it done, can u help
how i do is it
1) bond PC and Phone in Bluetooth Settings in windows
2) on phone go to Activesync - tools - Options - Options - Dropdown box
Eather Bluetooth or 19200 default
3)Open active sync pc
4) Active Sync on Phone - Tools - Connect Via Bluetooth
and that is how i connect
In the advanced settings for your BT dongle you will need to check what Bluetooth Serial port number is being used. I found mine under local services. Once you have that go into the proerties for AS and where it lists the serial port to use put the COM Port number of your BT Serial port in that box. Now when you hit the AS button they should be able to connect with each other. Hope that helps.
One of the requirements is for you to have a ActiveSync 3.8.
Once you have that installed a new port will also be installed with the Windows BT stack. When the BT stack is detected a new port will also be available.
Now the next step is to go to the PPC. Hit Start go to Settings, System and then Blue Tooth Settings. Hit the Start button and it should bring you to the BT activation where you turn it on. Have everything checked. Once this is done, start pairing the laptop by having it detect the PPC and set a passkey for protection. Once they are paired, launch ActiveSync in the PC and go to File and Connection Settings. Once in this screen pit a check mark on the Allow Serial... Set it to the new port set by your BT Stack.
Once this is done, on the PPC, hit Start and go to Programs select ActiveSync. Hit Tools and then Connect via Bluetooth. This should then start working.
One bug I did find is that once you connect your device to your charger and initialize the ActiveSync over BT everything will work well. BUt once you remove it from the power conenction, your device will soft reset.
ok i will try, thanks to all of you
Stupid Q. If you're using BT for Activesync, the PC will still act like a pass-thru internet gateway, right? And you can now surf the net via BT (the same way you do it with wifi)?
Thanks.
@MC_Oliver
The answer is yes. If you are doing ActiveSync over Bluetooth it is the same as ActiveSync with a cable. You should have the same icon on the top of your screen. You can even browsse the files in your PPC.
Thanks dre.
Btw, curious if you have the same problem as I do in this thread? Thanks again.

No, not at all. I cut my sentence short and it should have read; I have a stupid question. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
My phone has stopped recognising Active Synch on my laptop. When it pairs it only shows Serial Port as services available. Any help. I have tried everything from unpairing to repairing it always shows Serial Port! It was working fine until I used my phone as a modem. Since then it only shows Serial Port as an option. Synchs fine with a cable though! :?
I had a similiar problem. This article helped a ton. I also got rid of the toshiba BT software that came with my Dell and used the MS software.

This is how I managed it:
1. Pair the phone to the PC
2. Go to the devices list and tap the name if the PC
3. Close the on screen keyboard if it s open, you will see "Refresh"
Ok leave it there for a moment
Go to Activesync
Open the connection settings.
Click on "Connect" and as it is searching, tap "Refresh" on the wizard.
It may take a couple of "Refresh" taps but it soon finds it.
If successful, it will appear in the list on the Partnership Settings screen.
Hope that helps.
Tried all but...
I have tried all methods suggested but Active Synch just refuses to show up on my device. Wonder what it is? My phone pairs up alright but shows only Serial Port as services available. Getting quite frustrating. Wonder what is blocking this.

u must activesync with PC using usb/caddle for the 1st time. THEN be sure u enable bluetooth port connection on activesync setting..
Have done that too
Yes I have been Synching via USB cable - no problem with that.
Actually, you don't have to sync with usb first. I just paired my phone with my new Dell E1705 over bluetooth without synching it first. I went into the Bluetooth settings, enabled let other devices discover this computer, enabled Bluetooth Serial Port on Comm 4, right clicked active sync and went to connection settings, enable comm 4 on the list, accessed the Bluetooth setting on my wizard, searched for devices, it saw my Dell, I linked with it, started Active sync on my phone, tapped menu, connect via bluetooth.
Voila

Will try that too... though I have done it before and it hasn't worked. I think its something deeper something to do with ports etc.
I've managed through pain and misery to get Activesync to work through bluetooth (not easy with widcomm stacks as drivers).
When my PC boots up, Activesync (PC) will complain that the bluetooth COM port isn't connected (obviously because my phone isn't connected through bluetooth 24/7)
So everytime I reboot my PC, I have to re-check the COM port connection in the connection options (PC) to make Activesync listen to my bluetooth COM.
Any suggestions?
Also, I know that when my phone is connected via USB, my phone will gain access to the internet (My PC has the internet connection and shares it to the phone). With bluetooth I havent been able to get this to work. Yet both USB & bluetooth work through Activesync. Is there something Im missing?
Thnx! I hope this isn't too specific/complicated like question
I used to have some of the same problems. What I found that usually it was 2 things causing it.
1. Activesync - Installation or Configuration
2. BT Software - Installation, Configuration or Need BT Software upgrade
What fixed my issue was 2 fold: activesync settings & needed to upgrade my dongle's software.
Activesync: When I installed 4.5 it setup a network connection that kept running in. And when I started up my PC I could see the icon running in my sys-tray (and would have troubles on and off again either with bluetooth / USB sync. What I found that worked for activesync was uninstall and make sure you check off allow wireless activesync connection. I've also found it likes to use com 3 for BT activesync.
BT Dongle: I have Motorola PC850 dongle and found that there was a great new BT Stack update that would hold the settings even if I turned my PC off for weeks at a time or removed the dongle to somewhere else. Plus it fixed the issue I had with using my BT stereo headset, to listen to music with out pops and skips. Oh In your BT settings make sure that com 3 or what ever your using is the same as activesync
Hope I can test those few tweaks.
However, after connecting my phone to activesync by USB, now my phone won't even connect by bluetooth to my PC anymore.
STUPID STUPID bluetooth stacks
For some reason I can not get Active Sync to work using bluetooth. It used to work before I installed Touch-It 4.4; but I don't think this has anything to do with it.
Paired my device with my laptop. Enable the Activesync BT protocol, set the com port to COM6. Opened Activesync on my laptop, allowed connection via COM 6. Started Activesync on my device and tapped "Connect via Bluetooth" and it asks me to pair a device because he can not find a device with ActiveSync enabled. Tapping my laptop does not sort any effect.
Anyone experience with this, help would be greatly appriciated!
I have the same problem. I read that that the AS BT link has to be first (before adding headphone, gps, etc.) but after deleting all of my connections and re-trying, it still doesn't work. In addition, when I first tried it, none of my other connections would work anymore.... and still don't consistently. I couldn't find a resolution after extensive googling either...
