I have a couple of BT related questions about my Imate PPCPE.
1. How do I check which BT stack my device has? I am running the WM2003SE ROM (unofficial - but working just fine).
2. I have seen people post some pictures of them configuring BT on their devices and it seems like they have some sort of BT manager or BT connection wizard thing on their devices which I do not have. I will paste the screen images of this BT connection manager which I am talking about. Where do they get it and is it because they are running a different stack?
I am supposed to be running the MS stack and i am going to try to install the widcomm stack today. Lets see what happens.
I have the same question. Did the Widcomm stack give you the "new" manager?

I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between the BT Stack that comes in the XDA/MDAII and the Widcomm BT Stack. I have read in other forums that this is the reason the XDA/MDAII BT does not work well with many devices.
Can someone clarify? Sorry if this question is too "dumb".

The Bluetooth "stack" is the software portion of the Bluetooth. It provides various profiles, like a serial profile to connect to a COM/Serial Port, a network profile, a headset profile, etc. Each device provides different profiles.
MS Bluetooth stack some troubles with COM ports.
People are extracting the WidComm Stack, which comes on Ipaq, and using it on XDA II, till a patch is provided.

Hi Palmop, here we go again!!!
I am trying to create a bond between my MDAII and a BT device. It is asking me to insert a PIN, which I do not have. The device manufacturer (igo.com) claims that a PIN is not necessary, since their device works well with the iPaqs and the Loox. So I am stuck in the middle of BT stack compatibility.
I have also tried to setup a BT bond between my MDAII and my desktop PC (with a BT USB dongle), and in this case the MDAII does not even recognize the desktop.
Is this all the result of a crappy BT stack in the MDAII? Do you think it can be fixed with a patch, or perhaps the Widcomm stack?

I believe you should be able to Active Sync via Bluetooth using current stack, at least, but haven't tried myself.

Apparently no. However, they have used some files dated May, not the latest. So I don't know if those files would fix it.
I have a XDA II and a TDK BT dongle for my PC and can confirm that it does hook up successfully.
You just need to set the serial port to the COMM port of the BT dongle in Activesync, then hit use bluetooth in the activesync menu.

What is the latest version of the Widcomm BT Stack for the XDA II? I have noticed a new version, Widcomm BT-PPC/Phone Edition, but I can't find any information if it's been officially released and available to download. If so anyone know where to get that newer (and XDA II optimized) Widcomm BT-PPC/Phone Edition (I believe it's also called Widcomm BT-PPC version 2.x.x.x?), please let me know. Thanks!

I've installed this new widcomm stack version 1.4.1 Build 59 on my XDA2 but it doesn't seem to detect the built-in BT radio of XDAII and asks for a CF card. The documentation says that it supports internal BT as well. There r few instructions by chan but i can't seem to understand how to make this think working. Please give it a try.........
Errr... don't understand a thing it said in that previous link, can anyone translate that webpage? Babelfish didn't cut it. But I'll download everything that seems to have any connection to Widcomm and see what I can do. It does seems to has something to do with a PC-based USB BT dongle, not the internal BT in the XDA. Ah, yep downloaded that file you referred to, unfortunately that is the wrong version (v1.4.1/59), it is techinically the same program running on the HP iPAQ H5000 series. The program is not the newer Widcomm Bluetooth Pocket PC Phone Edition version. Neverless keep the post comming if anyone knows anything about this new PPC Phone Edition Bluetooth release! I managed to modify the Widcomm Bluetooth stack to a hybrid version file, using a mix of versions to get various aspect of the Bluetooth technology and features working, so far everything is great, the only issues I am having are:
1. "Bluetooth failed to initialize properly" error messages upon restarting the Bluetooth feature or after rebooting the XDA2 with the newer hybrid Widcomm start up file link.
2. The hybrid Widcomm Bluetooth application disables itself when turning off the XDA2 in it's traditional PPC fashion, not utilizing the newer WM2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition's ablity to retain it's Bluetooth/GPRS connection.
Other than that I got all the features I wanted, such as the ablity to host/join a Bluetooth LAN/PAN, browse files remotely over BT, etc.
BTW v.1.4.1.59
I got the New Version from Sitecom. V 1.4.2.11 and it works with csr-500.
The V 1.41.1.59 is a Bluetooth CF software for WindowsCE PPC2000, 2002, 2003. Thats why it is asking for the CF adapter.
I have a step-by-step guide to accessing the internet over bluetooth on my XDA II, but I dont have the program "Bluetooth Manager". Can somebody please tell me if I should have this already, or where I can get it from?

it was a program that came with my bluetooth dongle
when i installed the cd that came with the usb dongle
i small blue icon with the bluetooth logo came up beside my clock
and when i click it bluetooth manager comes up
maybe it have a different name with your dongle or what ever way you have bluetooth in your pc
I am using toshiba's bluetooth stack as BT is built into the laptop. The guide shows bluetooth manager software on the pocket pc too. This is what I require (I think) to connect to the laptop.

This still seems like BT software for my laptop. I want "bluetooth manager" or other BT software for my XDA II. If you have a look at section 7 of the following link: http://home.comcast.net/~spam-target/activesyncz.html
It shows "bluetooth manager" being used on the XDA.
Any ideas how to get this?

i wasn't lucky using that.
but you dont need the widcomm bluetooth stack to activesync over bluetooth and so access the internet by using activesync's pass network connection option
if you want the PAN network profile though you'll need to install the widcomm bluetooth stack
Do anyone have working widcom stack for artemis? I read in helmi's universal forum that it could be done via some reg changes. Made it anyone working. I'm gonna give it a try. Keep fingers crossed

dont know, i'm just trying to port it for arte, my Universal is running with Widcomm, so i decided to port it to my Orbit.
So far A2DP,AVCPR is working, file transfer, serial port are working. Headset profile not yet. I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe Helmi will help.

File transfer (both ways), bluetooth sync and modem are indeed required. Hope it works.
I have a big problem. I tried this stack and bluetoothe works fine but GPS stoped working. If I uninstall it and try to activate MS Bluetooth stack, bluetooth stops working. So I have to decide: Bluetooth or GPS.
Is there any possibility to reactivate the MS Bluetooth stack?

I was looking at a fix to get my car working with my WM6 Artemis, and thinking of trying the Widcomm stack. However, reading through this thread am I right in understanding that this version of the Widcomm stack won't yet support hands-free kits anyway?
I bought an MDA3 with WM6 via ebay.
The bluetooth stack is not very good (DialUpNetwork does not work, ...).
Is there a better one (Broadcom instead of Microsoft)?
I tried "Broadcom_Bluetooth_Manager.CAB",
but I got "bluetooth radio failed to turn on due to insufficient driver memory" :-(
And "ba_wm5_broadcom1.7_test.rar" seems to be older than "Broadcom_Bluetooth_Manager.CAB".
What can you recommend to me?

Suggested you can use Sun_Dream's Rom. Try to connect your Bluetooth stereo at firstly, then del the equip under the list, finally reconnect by click your BS equip. you will find all will be good in this action. Certainly D700's Bluetooth stack is quite ill to use, don't expect use it as normal.
Dial-Up has been deleted in WM6 and wm6.1, because preferred way of sharing the internet connection is to use "Internet Sharing" application, that is built-in.
Apart from the fact, that it has problems with keeping 2 active Bluetooth connections I see no problems with Windows BT Stack in BlueAngel.
The only other way is to go back down to WM5 Helmi 1.3.2 ROM and install Widcomm Bluetooth Stack made by Helmi for this ROM (Please note: you cannot just install a new BT stack from different provider: Bluetooth stack must be engineered for the specific ROM and the only 2 cases it will work for BA is update of the BT stack in WM2003 up to v3900 and WM5 1.3.2 Helmi ROM update I mentioned above).

And this seems not to work with the Bluetooth stack in WM6 :-(
