Hi All
I have the XDA II on O2 IRL with the O2 Active User Interface running, my question is that for SMS and Ringtones i can chage the sound notification to what ever i want. I want to change the sound for a incoming MMS from the anoying bell thing to an imported sound i have.
Is there a way to do this either software hack or a registry hack?
Many thanks
D
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{04F794C2-2870-43b1-9F8E-E998A331EB34}
Default="MMS Notify"
Then change it from the system sound under settings...
Hi
Thanks for the reply, tried it out but still no joy, hack gave me the option of selecting an MMS sounds but i still get the stupid O2 chime on a new MMS
Any have any clues, i have also gone through the registry to see if the V2R software has any bearing or clues but nothing yet.
cheers in advance
Darren

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the board and I have been searching for an answer to a problem with WM5 that I cannot find. We use our devices, I-Mate JasJar's and I-Mate K-Jam's, to receive Pushed email, Text messages, phone calls...etc.
One of the main featues that I need, although small, is to be able to set WM5 notifications for new text messages or emails to repeat. The setting is subdued, whereas some other notifications give you the option to repeat the alert. I feel like this should be up to the user to decide whether to use it or not...no microsoft...:x
Anyway, is this a possible registry hack or an update that i don't know about?
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.
this is killing me
I have tried everything I can think of...i downloaded a registry editor and modified the registry under notifications under HKCU...i was able to make the "Repeat" function available for use for a NEw Text Message...but it wouldn't repeat...nothing i did would make it repeat...this sux..
Anybody have any ideas yet....thanks...
Yes! It's crazy that you can't set notifications to repeat and "bug" you! My wife's Motorola V3 RAZR phone does this for every text message / voice mail. Very annoying - but also very useful!
PocketMax "phoneAlarm does exactly what you want. An official version for WM5 is not quite ready, but there is a beta version which seems to work, hidden away in the support forums:
http://www.pocketmax.net/smf/index.php?board=22.0
Hope this helps!
Hi People!
I simply don't know what to do. Somehow, my SMS sound disappeared -- too, there is no blinking, no vibration, nothing. can please somebody help me and somehow tell me where the error could be. it's set right in the alerts dialog, when i do a preview there, it works. but a new sms seems not to launch the alert. i remember fiddling around with the regkeys that manage the messaging accounts - maybe there is a naming error?
any help is greatly appreciated...
thanks a lot,
keep posting

Try to go through:
Start - Settings - Sounds and Notifications and then set the sound/vibartion as you like.
thanks, but ..
.. i already tried that, like a hundred times ..
the problem seems to lie elsewhere, as for example in the SMS account name.. fiddling around there may have caused this problem..
BUT i am planning doing a rom upgrade, so the problem will be gone, i think..
btw, is there a generic (HTC, german) ROM version that includes the internal gps-chip? my version: 1.16.407.2 and external rom: 1.16.407.101
Solution found on www.pocketpctweaks.com
as i pointed out the problem started after tweaking my messaging accounts. i now restored them (from a backup i intelligently did) and my sms sound is here again. the "ActiveSync" and "Hotmail" Accounts need to be there in order to have a sms notification ......
\\HKLM\\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\
this is _not_ what i call good programming ..
Hi,
I have a t-mobile mda (touch dual) but have it unlocked with an O2 sim in. Every time I send a text or make a call I get this annoying pay and go balance sent to my phone. Is there any way I can stop the notification or atleast prevent it from making a noise? I have tried turning of all sounds but it doesnt work .
Thanks in advance for any help
you could try search for an O2 named .exe file in \Windows\ or a .lnk in \Windows\Start Up\ and delete (or rename to be safe) them.
but you could also Hard-Reset your device (Hold both call/hangup buttons while device on and press reset with stylus).
or even HardSPL your device and install a clean ROM
NOTE: Use PIM Backup before Hard Reset/ROM change, to save all your sms, email, contacts, etc. !!!
hi
thanks for the quick reply. I want to install niki project rom v2 but apparently it still has a few bugs that need to be ironed out. Do you knoow how I can hard reset? Im a bit of a newbie with the nike - just trying it out before I properly switch from my ancient tornado loll.
Also I know this is kind of off topic but is it just me or is the internet slower on the nike? Could it just be my radio rom?
Thanks again!
This is something that happens on all o2 pay as you go sims, its not the phone.
hi,
thanks for the reply
I know its an o2 thing but is there any way to stop the phone from alerting with a noise everytime I get one - I have tried going through all the notification settings and it still happens if I turn all notifications off - so I end up with no alert for calls / texts but an alert for credit! lol
i'd like to know this too, its pretty annoying!
I cant seem to find anyway to change it :s. On my tornado and prophet the message shows up doesnt make any noise but I cant find options for disabled that tone in the nike rom :s
i found this post that gets rid of the noise, ive yet to try it though
First download totalcmd (another file browser)
Create a blank wav file.. call it notify.wav (sometimes notify.wma)
Use totalcmd to replace the one in the windows directory with the one you created..
It works with some versions of wm5 though, so good luck..

doesnt work, tried that a year ago!
My advice would be to move to a different PAYG provider - T-Mob or Three would be my first choices Get a PAC code, take your number elsewhere
Failing that, ask O2 if they can switch it off?
Cheers,
Smiffy.

O2 have that as a feature phone them up and tell them you dont ant notifications
This is def the notify.wav. We can never get rid of the message from o2 as that is a network feature as previously mentioned.
Replace notify.wav with a blank wav sound. This will make it less annoying.

mine used to give that annoying sms notification sound all the time I used the tweak program to remove it so
it's a reg settings for sure

Hi everybody, i have a very big problem
I bought a HTC Touch 2. Very cool phone, works fine, looks great BUT... when i want to change the SMS or MMS ringtone to my own, it doesn't work... no sound, no vibration...
I try it: send an SMS from an other mobile, and it doesnt work. I get my sms, but the phone dont alert me (no music, no vibr.) another problem is: i choose the: sound and vibr options, BUT when i save this and go back the menu, the phone change automatically to ONLY VIBR... but it doesnt work too... (U know: settings, sound, and the bottom (alert sound, not the special) and new message -> vibr on-off. its only appear when i set an own ringtone)
If i choose a basic ringtoone, its fine, dont change automatically to only vibr, i can change it to every option, BUT it doesnt alert me too...
summa summarum: SMS-MMS-Email alerts doesn't work on my mobile. No music, No vibr.
HARD RESET done: doesn't help
I hope somebody can help me.
Love 'n' Peace
(And sorry my very bad english )
Pls help me, im afraid that my mobile is faulty
everthing is okay, only the ringtone is bad.
Incoming call works fine with my own ringtone.
Nobody?
have you tried different mp3's?
I tried everything, its doesnt work. No sound, no vibration...
only incoming call is okay
sorry, I was wrong, I didn't read correctly.
I think SMS sound only works with .WAV files.
have you tried this?

Well i dont know what the basic sound format, but i think they are wav. And the other problem is, my phone dont vibration, and is set on. (Its only SMS)
So i don't know when i received an SMS, only the Green LED lights on the top
I haven't heard of this prob before.
have you logged a call with HTC?
No, i think there isn't Hungarian HTC corporations., so i think i go back to my service and i hope they solve my problem..
but thanks a lot.
