Any freeware browsers that handle proxy - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Are there any freeware browsers that handle proxy's like NetFront?
I am in the process of upgrading from PPC 2002 and just can't justify spending any more money on software for the old version.
I'd rather keep changing my connection settings.
But it would be nice if there was a freeware browser that let me set a proxy, so I can continue using my t-mobile free internet until the upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

I thought proxy was set up under settings/connections rather than in the browser....or are you referring to something else. Have you tried ftxpbrowser, it is in the rom kitchen and can be included in the rom to be burned. I looked on the web and searched ftxpbrowser and saw that there are different version for 2000, 2002 and wm2003, it was a free program, you will need to check if this is still the case

Yahoo Mobile not working with Pocket IE on k-Jam

Hi,
I've been trying to access Yahoo Mobile (http://wap.oa.yahoo.com) via my k-Jam, and I always get a "Cannot Connect" popup from Pocket IE.
It doesn't matter whether I go through WiFi or GPRS -- the result is the same (cannot connect).
However, when I try using a different web browser (not pocket IE) it _works_ (and I can do regular http get's to the Yahoo Mobile site, etc.)
Secondly, if I try through a proxy server (from Pocket IE) it works.
Has anyone seen this (or know what might be happening)?
Not sure, as I haven't tried it, but instead of http:// try wap:// or wsp://
Tried wsp with no luck
Yep, I'd already tried wsp:// (wap:// doesn't work on k-Jam).
The problem gets stranger still: If I explicitly insert the IP address for wap.oa.yahoo.com in the URL it works (but this doesn't help much, because the home page contains links that use the explicit host name).
But, as I said, every other application on the k-Jam can properly resolve the hostname and connect. It's something "different" about the way Pocket IE does DNS resolution I'm guessing.
I'm not absolutly sure, but I think Yahoo Mobile is compressed, that's why PIE cannot render it.

mobile.southwest.com access from Wizard

I would like to use mobile.southwest.com. However, it detects that I am visiting with a PPC and redirects me to the main site.
The problem with this is that I often want to check in, and if you do it from the main site but don't print a boarding pass, when you "reprint" a boarding pass at the airport, it reclassifies your boarding group. If you check in with the mobile phone, it remembers that you are boarding class A.
I tried installing opera mini (which, since I use a T-Mobile MDA, required installing a midlet manager) and then going to mobile.southwest.com, but southwest still redirected me to the regular site.
Has anyone figured out how to go to the southwest wap site?
there is a registry setting, so your browser will be detected as a desktop pc,
don't remember the setting you have to search like registry setting for IE6
I need the opposite
The problem is that mobile.southwest.com is detecting my ppc as a desktop pc, and thus assumes I have an attached printer. I want to tell it that I am not a desktop pc.
How to spoof a desktop pc is in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other&version=70
but I haven't been able to find how to spoof, say, a treo (on which this mobile.southwest.com returns wap content).
Tried them all
I have now tried PIE, Opera mini, Minimo, and Netforce 3.3, and can't reach mobile.southwest.com on any of them -- I'm sent to the main site instead. So clearly it isn't a browser issue but some other settings. Does anyone know how to spoof a wap browser?
The solution to this problem turns out to be to use a WAP browser. The two main ones are Klondike ($23) and winwap ($50). Klondike's trial has a not-very-obnoxious trial reminder periodically but my understanding is that it works indefinitely, which is very nice of them.
I tried the Tweaks2k2 changes and nothing helped with getting mobile southwest to work.
I downloaded Netfront 3.3 and if you allow WAP on the program, the mobile southwest will load correctly.
I called southwest before doing all this and got nowhere.
If anyone has an idea of getting the default browser to work, I would like to know before, I pay for Netfront.

Skweezer.net
Have any of you tried skweezer.net? It's a site that condenses web sites for small screens. I went there on my LAPTOP, entered mobile.southwest.com into the search window, and brought up the mobile version of southwest.com. I surfed the mobile site for a while. I even looked at the mobile pdf schedules page. Southwest.com never detected that I was surfing from a laptop, not a mobile device since I loaded the page through skweezer. I think skweezer might fix both problems.
Works for me

Cool! This works!
Nice Bass Aggie.
Skweezer compressed the web site but it still does not bring up the mobile website.
Any other ideas on how to get it to work on PIE.

I'm using Summiter's last ROM:

and mobile.southwest.com works fine for me.

T-Mobile Internet, Working Apps (IM)?

OK so I am new here, but I am not new to mobile devices at all. In fact I was a Mobility Admin in different forums. So please don't get mad at me for posting here. I have some questions. PLEASE don't play the FLAME the noob game. I swear that I searched far and Wide for my answers but have failed to find them.
So my question: is there anyway to tweak the T-Mobile T-zones Internet?
I can:
Connect to the internet
Download Files
Stream Music (orb)
Stream Video (badly[orb])
Use Google Maps
I can't:
Connect To IM servers, I have tried all of the programs. OZ for T-Mo is the only one that works, but it's horrible.
No YouTube, I can live without this but I hope to get it working.
MIDP can't connect.
Basicly nothing, that doesn't connect from, IE works.
----------------------------------------------------
I have played with the Proxy settings and nothing. I know that with my Treo 650 I could connect through VeriChat, but I can't connect on WM6.
Is there a program out there that can help me fix this?
Again I'm sorry if this is a repost, or an overkill of something, but I want to get this stuff working.
Thanks

I do not have an obvious solution but have also seen plenty of similar comments here from others - not just with T-Mobile either. I am using T-Mobile in the UK and have none of your problems.
I obviously had the original T-Mobile Vario II build (WM5) but now have the Black MAJIK build with WM6 and all has been fine with both. Some people directly accuse T-Mobile of blocking their IM, but I have no issue with it - albeit I use it rarely. Of course it "may" be that T-mobile are indeed blocking some services to 'offenders' (IM is not allowed) but I wonder if their system is that capable.
Obvious questions for you are: what OS are you using? Have you changed ANY comms settings from the original T-Mobile build? Have you tried a hard reset to restore original settings (including the all important T-Mobile extended ROM)?
If you still have the original OS ROM build running then you might try installing the configuration .cab files that are stored on the Extended ROM separately - some apply directly to such device settings. Access to that Extended ROM on the WM5 build is easy and you just need an application such as "HTweakC 2.0" (available here). Of course, and as ever, start with backing-up your device - but you will know that.
I hope this helps.
I have VSWL Rom.
I have setup the internet (GPRS) settins like they are suppose to be.
I believe that it is a fact that T-Mo has blocked ports, and has only left http smtp and pop3 open. So my dilema is why did verichat connect on my Treo 650 and not on my MDA or my 8525.
First we need to know if you are in tmobile usa, uk...????
if you are in tmo usa then you can't
if you have the proxies 216.155.165.50:8080 the most you can use is PIE (pocket internet explorer)
the best thing is to get the blackberry $20 dollar add-on plan and just setup without proxys. wap.voicestream.com and you have full internet access.
I am in the USA, and I have the T-zona 5.99 plan.
I am less than reluctant to close my mind for this not to work, since google maps works. and, as I said, on my Treo 650 using verichat worked perfectly.
I don't know what the difference in the way the Treo 650 connected and the way my 8525 connects.
Perhaps the programs that can connect are ones that ones that connect through port 80 and are proxied to 8080.
I am so lost on this topic though.
too many contractidicting points.
such as streamining works on win but not on palm
IM worked on Palm but on Win.

Application like Proxifier for PPC?

Hi, does anyone knows an application like Proxifier but for PPC?
If don't know what proxifier is:
http://www.proxifier.com/
"Proxifier is a program that allows network applications that do not support working through proxy servers to operate through an HTTPS or SOCKS proxy or a chain of proxy servers."
An application like this for PPC would be great as we could use cheap unlimited traffic data connections (WAP) but behind a proxy with limited ports to work with any application...
I couldn't find something like this, any advice?
This is exactly what I have been searching for. Let's keep this thread alive.
Thanks for showing me proxifier. I only knew about Sockscap and Proxycap. If only someone would make a mobile version.
Repost from another thread
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447758)
ProxyCap now supports WM. It works great, I've tried it. But it's a 30-day trial, and costs $30 to keep.
found a working cab
Hey guys I found a working cab of proxycap.... anyone still looking for it please pm me and I will gladly send it to you...
oh and btw it is preregistered...
Also post a how-to -.- i have been busting my head on how this works for ages...

Opera and NTLM support

Hi all,
since a couple of days I have a new HD2 and it's fantastic!
On my old Diamond I was able to enable the NTLM support in Network section of Opera config file but, with a big surprise, in the current configuration (on HD2) the NTLM is missing (in the Network section and other of configuration file).
Since I need authentication for ISA proxy (via NTLM) on company intranet (my connection is through dedicated APN that link directly on company intranet) I can't use Opera on my HD.
Any suggestion or workaround?
IE works corretly but don't suppport multi touch zoom so I would like to use Opera.
The previous version of Opera installed on Diamod (last italian official ROM) work perfectly.
Thanks all!!
I'm interested in this too (just bookmarking the page really).
I use IE as Opera doesn't work, but would rather use Opera. I browse private folders via IIS and don't have the opportunity to log in with Opera.

Doing the same (bookmarking), just for fun I tried to check some webapps on my corporate Intranet set up with IIS integrated authentication and it worked perfectly with IE. I didn't try with Opera. Will do on monday and see if I can come up with a solution

Opera doesn't offer a dialog to enter domain authentication. It just says "the server requested a login authentication method that is not supported."
It seems pretty sure of itself
I'm not entirely happy about this, but there appears to be a workround...
http://forums.asp.net/t/305782.aspx
Doesn't help if you don't have admin rights on the server, of course.
You are right on both accounts! It IS very sure of itself. As MS would say, this is not a bug, this is a feature or this is by design.
As for the workaround, I hadn't seen your post until now and being sysadmin for a lot of IIS servers, I thought about the same solution, tested and it works. I came back here to report about it but you beat me to the post by almost 48 hours -
Anyway, it's not a good solution and not everybody with a HD2 has admin rights on the IIS servers of his company.
So we are stuck with IE until maybe a new version of Opera mobile. After all, Opera on desktops supports it (sort of...)
Ok, thanks for support.
What sounds strange to me, is that Opera installed on my old Diamond implement the NTLM authentication and the version on HD2 (newer) not at all. Moreover I installed the Opera 10 beta and, in this version also, the NTLM support is missing (I don't find it in the configuration file).
Why they removed it?
