- the two small square holes to the right of the sd slot?
I originally thought they were infrared, but then i saw that HTC decided that it was a good idea to put that on the right edge at the bottom (go figure!)
You can put a strap there to carry it with or a lanyard to carry it around your neck.

My Sony Ericsson's strap does not fit in the hole...??
Darkcell,
I put my Sony P800 strap in the hole at the top of my jam...you need to use a small paper clip to push it through the hole.

I use the k-jam alot. and after taking the pencil out and back in again it has got so loose now that it usually drops out. any one else hade same problem and how did you resolve it?
I had same problem with my BA. I'm not sure the wizard has same retention tab, but if it does, then this works.
-Back up your data.
-Remove the cover you will find a small tab in the stylus channel intended to engage the notch cut into the stylus. Gently push the tab back into the stylus channel so that it will engage the stylus notch once again. Be careful if you push it too far it will break.
-Slide the stylus into the channel to verify that the tab again engages the stylus notch.
-Remove the stylus again.
-Apply a small dab silicone sealant (available at any hardware store) behind the stylus retention tab. This is the "V" shaped area between the tab and the case. Be sure to fill this entire area. When the silicone has cured it will become a spring with much better position memory then the original plastic tab had on its own.
-Allow 24 hours for the silicone to cure before inserting the stylus into the channel.
I believe this is more then a repair, it is an upgrade.
Good Luck,
N2O2
Thanks for the tips.
I was just thinking of what to do when i came acroos some bluetac .
I put some blutac in the hole were the stylus goes and pushed the pen in. and it was a miracle !!! The stylus stayes in with a good hold and it comes out clean with no bluetac on it.
whe the bluetac trys to come out it has no room coz the stylus filles the space so it stays in the edges and grips the stulus pen and keeps it from getting loose. .
problem solved !!
Nice Catch

Yes it does.
Easy and simple way of not opening or messing about with k-jam to void warranty.
I mean. you will not viod waranty this way, but will if you open the k-jam
one time around the stylus with some tape works great to.
But what happen if the blutac starts to ware off?

Then I'll pop the case  , extract the bluetac and do the silicone mod.
I'd be surprised if it does wear off though. It's superb stuff that's saved me a few quid in the past when in rented accomodation - bluetac and tippex to create the illusion of undamaged walls
Can you please give me a hint what "bluetac" is or means ?
I have dismantled mine, and I can see why this is breaking - see my post regarding the sylus silo.
when the stylus is getting loose, when you are pushing it in do you "feel" it going further forward than it did before?
It is because the plastic tab is not strong enough to resist the pen, and you are now pushing it further forward than you did before.
This is what causes the stress on the plastic, and then the crack. This black plastic part is molded to the entire back of the phone.
I have fixed this by wedging some folded paper behind the black plastic clip, and it is back to normal. I was lucky - I had not stressed mine enough that the plastic had cracked.
I have taken some photos of how to get the back off, I will post them when I return from my business travel.

Ignoring my [email protected] spelling (should be "Blutac"), it's this stuff: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/BrowseProductDisplay.aspx?ProductId=17307&CategoryId=579-580-594
I'd be interested in seeing the photos on how to dismantle.

I have now started collapsing the stylus before inserting it into the hole so it doesn't push against the end and only goes as far as the moulded plastic bit at the top.
just wrap a piece of tape around the stylus and it fits like a glove again.

This is only a temp fix, did that and after a week or two back to the stylus dropping out. I am waiting for the pics on how to get the back off and do a more permanent solution, you would think Imate would have caught this in their product testing phase before going to production.

Personally I think on the bottom of the phone is daft in the first place... or is this just me ?
Terran
the pics are in the upload folder, called wizardpics.zip - the ftp upload attachment does not seem to be working?
to remove the top half I used a flat knife. It is quite resistant. You can see where the tabs are in the pic.
To remove the back completely, you need to remove the void sticker, and under there is a screw. there is also one opposite.
You will also need to remove the 2 screws at the bottom, one in the stylus channel, and the other on the opposite side.
then use a plastic splitting tool if you have one, or a credit card to work round the case.
you can see in the pics where this comes off.
You then want to re-enforce behind the stylus notch. I used a piece of folded card.

where exactly are you putting the tape which end
i did the blutac thing but might have put too much in cos the grey plastic end i use to pull stylus out just broke!
Bought the two together, thinking they would somehow screw together, but the proclip i have is just a flush piece of plastic with no holes etc. Am i supposed to drill my own?
Heres everything i have, am i missing anything?
There should be some dimples in the car mount where you can drill holes to match the passive mount. Take the swivel base, put it over those dimples and mark them with a Sharpie. Use a drill with a small drill bit and drill the holes, then attach with the provided screws.
The screws are self tapping, so decide where you want to put the bracket, take one screw and just use some pressure and screw the screw in and will cut into the plastic and be fine
No dimples Prey, its completely flush. Can drill/use the self tappers but i just thought they might have forgotten something and wanted to check first. For the money it all cost, I thought it would slot together somehow! Cheers guys.
Weird. Mine all had very small dimples. If not, drill a small pilot hole so you don't crack the plastic and mount the swivel.
Titan Holster/Carry Case...
OK...I have lost my VZW HTC-6800 for the last time. I have just a basic PDA holder I got from the Verizon store. You put the PDA in the pouch and it has magnet lid the covers & close it. It is a belt clip style and the PDA sit long ways, horizontal not up/down vertical. The issue is that the clip which goes over the belt just slips right off at times. It is not a swivel clip nor does it have a hook on the end of the clip to keep it from slipping off the belt.
Mine keeps riding off my belt when I sit down and rub again something like a seat, etc. I need a good holster for our HTC's. I do not want a swivel clip and I do like a case that cover the device to protect it keeping it in the horizontal position on the belt and has a catch on the clip where it does not clip off the belt..
Any recommendation?????????
Is this the blue and black leather one? I've had no problems with mine. Actually, it's a bit of a pain in the butt to get the thing off my belt at the end of the day...
Verizon does have a few more that I looked at that I believe would accomodate your wishes. Go back to the VZW store, and actually take them out of the packaging, put your xv6800 in them etc and try them out before you leave the store.
Also, don't forget, this is not a phone specific thing, so you could go to a Sprint store, etc to look for their accessories for their PPC6800 phones...
I have used one of these since I got mine. It even has a place for an SD card adapter and I slip a Sandisk Micromate USB adater in the other slot.
It has a wrist lanyard that I run my belt through.
I ride a motorcycle most days so I needed something secure. It has been on my belt for thousands of miles, with no problems.
It is a little bulky, but not bad.

I understand you dont like the swivel, But you might take alook at this case.
The swivel is locked in one place unless you really want to move it, I think it is great, IMHO
Hi everyone and Merry Christmas !
I noticed in the just-added Service manual from the wiki that "Lanyard / Strap Hole" is in the list of features. How come? I thought it was one of the flaws of that marvelous device?
I confirm that there is no "Lanyard / Strap Hole" in Touch HD.
I saw the lanyard eyelet in the prototypes (German) on YouTube, and was sadly disappointed when I received my HD it was omitted.
Maybe HTC want people to drop their phones more often
Conformed: NO lanyard hole!
A long time ago, when the Blackstone was just on the market, I asked the same question.
In the online manual no lanyard hole was to be seen, while several review movies of the HD showed a lanyard hole left of the usb port.
I'm using an electric wheelchair and using such an expensive phone without any form of 'safety' would be very ill-advised.
After pondering for days I made a tough decision: I asked my dad (he's very good with tools) to make a tiny hole at the corner where the stylus resides. When you first pull the stylus out you can see exactly where you can drill the hole without damaging anything else.
Now I have my lanyard hole, it doesn't stand out at all and the styles can still enter and leave the HD without trouble!

Work Around
I really missed the strap hole on the HD too.
So I bought a CrystalSlip cover from Boxwave and with a hot paper clip, melted two holes on the bottom left corner.
I wouldn't swing it around by it but the plastic seems to be pretty good and should hold. Anyway it's better than nothing.
Lanyard/Wrist strap for Touch HD!
I was very careful to drill two holes in the stylus silo. The holes have enough clearance for a lanyard strap. I was nervous but it turned out awesome!
AWESOME... but one question what size drill bit did u use? any tips? i'm gonna try this *fix* also.
thanks in advance.

Yeah same here, takes some courage o.o
Seriously though, I was nervous and did take my time Pre-marking the hole. The main thing was to make it small enough just to fit the string through. The less material I drilled out the stronger it would be in the corner. Also I chose a lanyard with the thinnest string so when the stylus was inserted it did not interfere with the magnetic seat.
This isn't 'technical', or even Android necessarily. So it might be a hack....
I have several thin hard cases for my phone (I like to change them out). Some cases came with a lanyard hole, which is very handy. My newest favorite did NOT have a pre-drilled lanyard hole. And it's polycarbonate so I'm afraid to drill it. I like wrist lanyards in general, but especially to loop them over my car magnetic mount in case the phone falls.
BUT, these particular plates for magnetic mounts ALREADY HAVE HOLES IN THEM. Hurrah ! So I threaded the tiny lanyard cord through the hole in the steel plate and out through a cut-out in the case. I put the plate inside the case and bang! Case with lanyard that isn't going anywhere. I haven't glued them down yet, waiting to see if I need to.
I don't know what the little holes are meant for, but it's working for me. Also, when you place the plate inside the case, you may have to move it around so it doesn't interfere with magnetic charging. On my phone the plate goes horizontally in the extreme bottom, and charges fine. So the lanyard comes out the side. Yayyy !!
I got these, but there are others on Amazon http://https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074QG6ZV1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
