i installed some imate stuff including this file:
Default_ImateV1.00.1.0.cab
it installs the i-mate bootscreen. It seems impossible to get the t-mobile bootscreen back however, and i can't find em in the t-mobile rom cabs. Is the best way to use akira's program?
I am not sure about the Magician, but it would think its not different from the Himalaya: If you just install one of the T-Mobile based Extended ROM's you will have your spash screens back. Its in one of the T-Mobile customisations cabs.
I think the tools available for Himalaya wont work since they rely on the Himalaya rom structure, which is different from the magician structure
seems the imate uses 2 screens: splash1. and splash2
I cannot find anything like that in the t-mobile cabs. I installed all of them, manually as well as auto after the hard-reset. I cannot seem to get the original splashscreen back however
Maybe someone can tell me if the Default_ImateV1.00.1.0.cab from the extended imate jam rom modifies more things that cannot be undone with a hard reset. I know it installs some imate email app, but this dissapears after hard-reset.

Ok Total commander gives you access to the extended rom using the method just posted above.
But if you want to actually have the extended rom showing all time, then you need this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33680&highlight=extended+rom
The extended rom unlocker will give the actual extended rom as space deginated extended_rom2 and its about 9.85mb size or something with between about 350kb and 2.5mb of .cab files in it depending on whether its a Qtek (Which has the least amount of files), I-mate, o2 or T-Mobile, these last two probably (along with Orange) will have the most 'junk in them.
Once you have ran the exteneded rom unlocker and soft reset your device it will be accesible through file explorer you won't need TC.
You can then go in and delete (be careful to make sure what everything does first) its your own responsibility, and remove what you don't need.
For example on the I-mate Extended Rom you cane remove Backgammon, Skype and the anti virus prog. There wasn't much on the Qtek Rom I just put on mine just clearvue and soemthing else inconsequential, there was no skype or antivirus, but I believe some Qtek roms might have this.
T-Mobile is abother story, there is a shedload of crap in the extended rom, ranging from a today screen toolbar to small progs, there is list knocking about of what each file does. When I changed from T-Mob to I-mate and then Qtek I just transferred the T-Mobile GPRS settings and the GPRS disconnect button .cab and put them in the exteneded Rom myself and let it run.
Also on I-mate Rom there are carrier settings that you can delete which won't apply to you, basically lots fo countries phone settings, like o2 UK, T-Mobile Spain etc etc, depending on where you are in the world.
You can't delete the I-mate .tsk todayscreens as far as I know, they are not in the ExtRom. The Qtek ExtROm doesn't have the extra .tsk's just default and the Guava Bubbles one.
If anyone wants the T-Mobile GPRS .cab and GPRS disconnect button .cab I can send it through msn or email.
that doesn't work either. I treid with the unlocker and deleted the files with TC. If i check the content no files are there, but when i try to copy other files to the ext. Rom it says that the volume is write protected. I softreseted several times also.
Any hint on that ? How have all the others deleted the files in extended rom ?

Might not work for you but it worked for me and a load of others. Once the extended rom is visible you can delete files easily, you don't need TC like I said. Its easier to put additional cabs into my documents sync them across and just run them.
Yeah, that's a pitty.... I have the Vodafone VPA Compact II, which is the Wizard 100 afaik.
Someone around here has the same model and succeeded in removing the cabs from the extended rom ?
maybe this is a basic question.. sorry for my ignorance...
I am asking this because I have tried almost every extended ROM, but i.e. when I installed Jasjar extended rom, after hard reset, I didn't notice/found any difference, couldn't find an imate logo, for example.
So maybe I an not installing extended ROM correctly, and installing shipped ROM would be the solution. is this possible? , .. maybe it is the same thing..
The Shipping ROM updates 3 things:
1. OS ROM
2. Radio
3. Extended
The Extended ROM just updates , the extended rom
The Splash Screen (the logo on reset) is stored in the OS ROM
To detail, You could change you Splash Screen with any sevice Provider, Just install the .cab which you could find in this forum(Skin related sub-forums).
It is stored in the upper part of the BoodLoader.. Could not be loacted in you windows but with a special tool.
thanks
I've been asking this because until now I thought that in order to try a ROM -i.e Jasjar, O2, etc - I should just copy the extended rom files of the selected ROM in Univesal's extended ROM folder, then hard reset and you are done.
But I feel like doing this you are just installing a few mods -not sure -.
So a good conclusion would be.. if I want to try Jasjar ROM, I must install Jasjar Shipped ROM?? :?

Yes as I stated above, the Shipping ROM versions include RADIO, EXTROM, OS update.
So you can install JASJAR OS but have O2 extended ROM
I used aWizard to backup the ROM of my Wizard Model 100 (Vodafone VPA compact II). After playing around with another ROM, I now want to go back to the original Vodafone ROM. Using aWizard again, I was able to restore the main ROM into the device, but it seems like it did not restore the extended ROM. The main ROM is working normally, but the Vodafone customizations didn't start after hard reset. I unlocked the extended ROM and can now see that it contains no files. Unfortunately, it is also write protected, so I cannot copy the extended ROM files manually.
How can I get the extended ROM files back into the device? I know that I could simply copy the files somewhere else and run it manually, but I'd like to restore the original state.
From my research, it seems to be a specific problem about the VPA compact II that even if you can unlock (i.e. "make visible") the extended ROM, it will still remain write protected...
Just think.
Maybe you should firstly refresh your rom with an older version like 1.5.x.x or sth. that would make the ext-rom visable & rewritable. than after you copy all that .cab files as you need, use aWizard to just upload the newer rom (at this case should be 2.17.x.x).
Never try this, if succeed pls let me know...
yeah this works this is what i have done to change the splash screen several times...on several units as well.....
I hate the green look & feel but changed to the South African TyTn ROM as reccomended here. Now, the dialer, the Comm Manager and others are Green. I would like to give the phone the entire JasJam look & feel without HR. Any idea how should I do it?
goto the wiki and download the cab file from the extended ROM.
No good... :-(
The problem is that I cannot write into the exended ROM in this version. I always get an error: Media Protected.
I tried fit4cat & the cab from WIKI. Both did not help. Is there a way for me to run this from another place than the Ext. ROM?
hi, once you downloadthe extended rom from the wiki, just extract all the cabs to your PC and copy the required CAB to your devices main memory or sd card. then run it from your ppc.
it shoudl work, you dont have to copy it to your ext.rom
Thanks mate for trying to help but I'm afraid it does not work for me. Took JasJam Ext. ROM and tried to run it from the memory card. It says "customizing" but I keep "enjoying" the HTC green. I have no idea why but somehow the i-mate skins do not appear in the Today settings after I install the CAB.
Don't run the auto-run. Just run each cab file one at a time.
which cab file deom the jasjam ext.rom do i need in order to get the imate blue skin?
Running all the cabs from the SD does not work for me. Which cab is creating this skin? Am I the only one who doesn't like the TyTn green?
no ronen!
i want to have the JASJAM as well! the green thing is ugly!
i have the trinity (it use the name green look & feel) as the TYTN.
what do i need to install in order to have the JASJAM look and feel?
רונן אחי הוא מדהים!! מכשיר מדהים
I have the same problem as RonenB. Alos for South Africa with the same ROM.
Has anyone resolved this issue yet?

Looking and searching everywhere, I couldn't find an answer to the same problem.
Running the Qtek AUK 3.3 ROM, I can then install a blue skin, however, the colours used in the dialer make it hard to read: black text, on blue button.
I have manually installed all the cab file located in the original JasJam EXTROM, but it will not change the green/lime colour used by default in the Qtek.
If I reset the jasjam with the Qtek ROM just after a hard reset, then it'll use the blue skin (which appears to be the default) but in this case the smart dialler will not be activated.
Thanks for your answers.

Hello,
I flashed back to Windows Mobile 2003 SE after having windows mobile 6 installed.
The only problem is the camera does not work, There is no camera option in the menu, and when I press the camera button nothing happens.
The OS I flashed with is WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE XDA2 from the buzzdev website.
Any help?
Thanks.
sounds like you dident put in a new extended rom where the cam software autoinstall from
I searched on the forums for extended rom and found this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=221732
So I put contents in my STORAGE, as per instructions, and now I am flashing, is this the correct way?
One Question, is there any newer WM2003 SE ROM avaliable for himalaya than WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE?
Edit : Nothing happened I still do not have camera, and I also notice My XDA II splashscreen is not showing up, instead it is a blank screen, probably some firmwares I flashed with earlier messed everything up on my himalaya.
Edit 2 : I manually looked through the extended rom contents and found the camera and installed it and a few other programs, but I get error "the program you have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile software" nonetheless it works
extended rom is a nbf file like a real rom it include a list of cab files and a text file which list the cabs
after a hardreset it auto install all the cabs
you dont need to flash a nbf file (it's don the same way as a normal rom buzzdev prob got some)
about 2003SE then it's a bit of a bastard rom
it was never released (as far as i know) as WWE (world wide english)
but only as chineese and was manualy translated to english by fans (heard that there are still chineese bits around in the rom which display as garbage chars)
about a later 2003SE then there was another chineese rom 2.11 or something like that
but it was pretty unstable so never translated to english
personaly i were to drop wm6 wm6.1 or wm5 and go back i would go to wm2003 not se
version 1.77 as it's more stable so unless one need the rotate without a softreset (which is pretty much the only thing i recall SE offering )
About the EXTrom, i was never able to get it to install after Hard Reset, I have to manually install the cabs myself, ussually I remember my pocket PC would say "Please wait until your device is configuired" , then it would install a few things. But since I have began flashing with all sorts of firmwares I cant get the extrom contents to auto-install after hard reset, so i have to manually install them myself. And you are right, I am seeing weird garbage characters already after instaling the MMS programs from the extended rom contents.
But I do remember the first time i went to WM 2003 SE, which was a few years ago, I got the ROM from the offical o2 xda website, and it was perfect. But thats not longer available.
As for WM2003SE, I always thought it was an upgrade to 2003, I thought that SE (Second Edition) should be more stable.
I might just flash to WM2003, not second edition, do you know where I could find the ROM + Extended Rom contents for it ?
yeah it's 2th eddition
but wm is not more stable then the drivers and 3th party stuff
the rom have in them
also heard about a wwe 2003SE but never confirmed that it was around
maybe if you google deep and long enough you can find it
about official 2003 roms for himalaya then first place i would look would be
the ftp of this site they may still be there
2th would be around at buzzdev
3th would be on the sites or ftp's of o2 / tmobile/ imate and the likes
4th would be googling around
Ah the problem is the XDA Developers ftp site is not working. I looked over at buzzdev and they have no WM2003 Roms for the Himalaya, only WM2003 SE
Ok from XDA Developers ftp I find the following :
1.60.36 T-Mobile_NL_Shipped
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.72.903_eDsuBsofT
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.72.90_Shipped
Himalaya_T-Mobile_NL_1.75.903_eDsuBsofT
Qtekk_1.75_Converted
I believe they are all WM2003 (not se)
Which one to use?
