E-mail thru GPRS of SMART Philippines - Networking

Hi! I'd like to know the outgoing server settings (SMTP) of Smart Communications. I have no problem receiving mails from my office POP using GPRS but I can't send mails. I already tried configuring exmail.smart.com.ph and smtp1.smart.com.ph to no avail.
Thank you very much for the help!

problem sending email

Anyone had a problem of unable to send email eventhough you can receive ok? This is driving me nuts! I read in the XDA II page under product info/known limitations that this is normal first time sending email. They claim to just ignore the error messages and re-click on the "send and receive" icon - it should work fine afterwards.. But it DID NOT worked fine I am still unable to send emails. Receiving is ok.
Anyone out there with any insights ?
mailbox incoming/outgoing setup is fine. sheesh..
Have you changed your default settings for the SMTP gateway?
Make sure you're connecting to the correct SMTP gateway. If you're connected to O2 (even if you email account is with a different ISP - I'm using btopenworld) then the outgoing mail MUST be smtp.o2.co.uk as most ISP do not allow mail relaying

Setting up BT Internet Email on the M5000

Hi All,
Has anyone had any eperience with configuring their M5000 to send emails using the BT Internet settings.
I have configured it using there their default:
mail.btinternet.com (POP3)
mail.btinternet.com (SMTP)
but I cannot send messages without the follow message appearing:
Messgaes cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.
Recieving works perfectly though every time.
I have read that the SMTP port should be changed to 587. so I changed the line to:
mail.btinternet.com:587
but this made absolutly no difference.
Anyone out there have any ideas??

Got mine working no problems - havent changed any port settings, so heres my setup [Going through the screens]
~Enter Email Address~
~Enter Name/Password~
Choose POP3
Incoming: mail.btinternet.com
Outgoing : mail.btinternet.com
Domain #Empty
[Click on Options]
~Choose connection interval and connection name~
Only place a check in the Outgoing mail requires authentication - nowhere else
~Choose whether to get whole message or part and how much etc~
Hope this helps.

I think you can also try smtp.orange.net as the outgoing server too. -I used to use that instead of the BT one.

Sorted
Thanks very much
I changed the SMTP from:
mail.btinternet.com
to
smtp.orange.net
and everything started working.

Can Receive but not Send EMAIL

I did setup outlook email in tytn. I can recieve emails fine. Why its impossible to send? I have tried in every possible way. Error appears, your incoming mail server not correct, check and try again. Incoming and outgoing server both are correct. What can be reason? Tytn is cool but i hate it when it cant just send an email. Extremely irritating.
Help will be appreciated.

Sorry but you do not give enough info to work with. You say incoming mail server is correct but it helps us to know what you have it set to and who provider is. For example I notice that lots of internet sites have an incorrect port settings for O2 UK MMS. So when you say your setting is correct; there might be someone here who says it will work if you change it to ?????. Did you set this up manually or was it done by the wizard?
Cheers
Mike
PS. Edited your thread title - you must give brief description of problem/issue. "EMAIL" does not encourage people to help!
You might not be allowed to send email because you are not actually on your email provider's network. I was not able to send Charter.net email via my Cingular device, until I changed the outgoing server to match Cingular's outgoing SMTP server.
I hope this gives you another direction in which to investigate a solution.
my location is norway. i am using network solutions as my email provider. in coming mail server is mail.waqar.com and out going mail server is smtp.networksolutions.com everything seems fine. then why its not working?

Hi
I found the following comment on the following website:
Note: Some ISPs will not allow you to use Network Solutions’ outbound mail servers. If that is the case, type in the name of your ISPs outgoing e-mail server (ex. smtp.myisp.com). You may also try and configure Network Solutions’ Outbound Mail server to connect to Port 2525 instead of the default Port 25.

Might relate to your problem??

i had the same problem. all i had to do (after strugling for a week) was check the box next to "outgoing mail requires... (missing text)" in outlook. Hope this helps!
it was smtp.waqar.com instead smtp.networksolutions.com

pocket outlook: "Error Synchronizing" ???

Anyone having trouble with pocket outlook giving you the error message: "Error Synchronizing" when trying to send/receive emails?
It seems to happen when I have more than one meeting request sent to me from another WM user. No emails are downloaded(outlook disconnects after trying to download messages), they're still on the server.
I'm using my own website's webmail.
Anyone else having issues like this? or know what to do to correct it?
Thanks in advance,

Hi
I'm having the same problem. I have a Tmobile Uk Vario III/Tytn II I can make and receive calls, sms, mms and get internet access but all my email accounts when trying to send/receive say error synchronising and then the phone says cannot connect with the current connection settings tap settings to change.
I've been through the gprs settings several times
in connection settings
my connection is t-mobile internet
modem type cellular line (gprs, 3g)
access point name APN- general.t-mobile.uk
username: user
password: wap
click on advanced ticked use server assigned IP address
these settings haven't changed but suddenly i can't receive emails for the last 3 days... help anyone?

POP3 MAIL over 3G connection?

Hello fokes,
When i had my HTC Vox i could easily receive mails with POP3 settings. The only problem was that i had to connect to my home network to send mails.
Since i have my TP2 i cant get connection to my mailbox using the mobile phone connection. If i log on to my home network everything go fine, but with 3G in don't receive my mail at all.
It was possible in the past, so it should work right?
Of course Exchange servers exists, but thats not an option for me (just home mails).
So is it possible to receive pop3 mails on my phone using only a 3G connection, and how? i tried it several times now but didn't get it done jet.
hmm... strange.. care to elaborate more??..
Do you mean u can check mails using gprs but not with 3g/hsdpa?
I'm using an Asia/Singapore set, but i can check emails pop3 in gprs/3g/hsdpa all fine..
i wonder if you can default your internet conection to 3g, so it won't automatically pick up edge.
are you connected to the PC when you check email? try changing your settings to only use 3g, that way you're forcing 3g to be the only connection to work. also, can you surf the net with 3g?
pop mail
Strange with my tp2 it works fine.
Are you sure it is allowed by vodafone.
At my phone I can send and receive mail.
Are you sure you used the right settings.
I think you did not use the right pop and smtp settings.
What provider are you using for your mail?
If you send me a personal massage I can answer you in dutch it's a little easier.
thanks for the replys
first of all my internet works fine using gprs/3g. i have 3g standard so i just called it 3g.
te settings of my mail accounts are correct. if i login to my home network (wifi) i receive my mails perfect and can send them.
sending mails over 3g/gprs did never work because i normaly use the mail server of my internet provider. so i can only sned emails if i use their connection.
in the past i had the htc vox (only gprs) with the same mailaccounts and providers. receiving mails worked perfectly, sending not.
i suppose it doesnt matter if i use gprs or 3g. didnt test it jet
i dont know of my providers uses restrictions.
gsm: vodafone
pop3: active24
smtp: tiscali / telfort
i know active24 has now exchange server support. perhaps they changed te servers and made it imposiible to me to connect with a phone without using that exchange server
@rodus: i will contact u if nessesary (afther this post). thanks for you help (to all)
mail settings
If you use your active24 smtp settings it should be possible to send mail with your phone. I found this settings on the active24 site maybe it will help you.
http://www.active24.com/sw17854.asp
thanks, this settings are not the one i used before (the one i got from active24.nl).
I can now send and receive mails after i used that settings and switching of the using of a proxy server connection.
because the proxy i couldn't access the pop/smtp servers.
now i only have problems with the mail client (from energy rom leo). editing acounts is not possible and auto send/receive seems not to work, but that is an other problem.
Thanks alot for the support
