DotPocket - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Has anyone come across this little gem/nightmare.
I wanted the remote control aspect of it, so downloaded and registered it. I was playing with the menu's when it prompted me to reboot. Now Im stuck on the boot screen.
I really would like to save the photos I have in my storage, is this possible before I do a hard reset and shout very loudly at dotpocket?

Storage memory is critically low

I'm getting that message.
The funny thing is, I haven't added anything to storage memory in a while. I got the phone a few weeks ago and installed everything I needed then - there was around 6MB remaining of storage.
However, whilst I'm driving today, I get an SMS and have a look and it shows me this critically low warning. I got home and tried to delete all my SMS but the phone decided to crash. After rebooting it didn't load all the today plugins properly, so I decided to reboot using SPB Pocketplus's safemode. I press the safemode option during boot and it says it will boot in safe mode but all it does is reset itself again and start in normal mode.
When it starts in normal mode it shows the critically low warning and freezes - I can't close the warning or do anything about it.
Does anyone know what could have caused this all of a sudden? Considering I had several MB free earlier today and haven't added anything to it myself... Also, what on earth can I do to fix this problem? It says to remove some programs but I can't when the device isn't responding or going into safemode...
Do a search for big files - also check your documents in case you've inadvertently recorded a lot of nothing (as I've done in the past) - also I believe temp internet files and remote desktop caching can take up quite a bit.

At the time it was impossible to search for any files - the device wasn't responding at all once it had booted up. However, I managed to connect it to my PC and access it remotely - even though the device's GUI wasn't responding and I had indeed recorded a load of nothing when it had been woken in my pocket by the SMS. Needless to say that button is now disabled.
Thanks for the reply, it's sorted now. Well, as sorted as you can get with the universal's minescule amount of memory
If you spend a lot of time surfing the net, your cache will fill up the space. Try to flush the cache and search for big files too. You should use SKTOOLS, is the best.
how
Daft question but where is the cache info stored. I can find may way around but I am not that technical. I am having the memory problem too. I have nothing on my device but its full. I have a map program on the card and thats it.
To clear your PIE cache, open PIE go to the menu and selct tools, options and then select the memory tab and click the delete files button. It will probably take a while. A easier way to manage this cache, in my opinion, is to purchase and install SKTools(a fantasic app for many uses) and run the quick clean program. I have the quick clean app mapped to a keyboard combo (using freeware PQZII) so it's very easy to free up memory.

wizzard hangs on startup :(

hello guys,
i've got a little problem, a while ago my device started to "hang" on the startup, when soft reset my device it boots, but then, when the backlight fades away, and i wait a while my device is stuck on the "Windows Mobile" screen.
this doesn't happen when i keep pressing my touchscreen when the backlight fades away, but i find it quite annoying.
so i was wondering, has anyone got a solution for this annoying problem?
Thanks in advance
Greetings Richard

already did that and restored using a backup but it didn't solve anything
are you saying i should reinstall everything? :O would be quite ****edup
yep something in the backup you made is screwed, probably a startup program.
if you are able to get fileexlorer up before you soft reset after the restore you might be able to move all the shortcuts out of the startup folder to somewhere else then try putting one back each time until you find whats crashing it.
allthough a full reinstall of everything would be quicker and less work

thanks, mayb a noob question, but where can i find this startup map?
full reinstall would be more work i think, because i have alot of software on the device, so also alot of settings etc., so i think i'll go for option 1
Mostly they are in \Windows\Startup, and some may create system services which you can view (and disable) using TaskMgr (a freeware)

problem with installing programs/removing progams...PLEASE help :(

I've been trying to install cabs lately, and it says for most of the "installation was unsuccessful", and it deletes the cab files after that...
so i was wondering what the heck was going wrong, so i went onto settings and clicked "remove programs", and when i clicked that, there was nothing on the list of programs to remove!!! even though i have googlemaps, SPB mobile shell, and a few other things installed, it does NOT show on the list of installed programs, thus, i cannot remove anything, OR install any cabs
anybody know what i can do to remedy this situation....? there are several important aps i HAVE to install, and i was wondering what i could do to install these programs....should i take the non-cab route, and install it from my computer, with the Wing hooked up to it...? or any other solution?
any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks

Well, not really sure what's going on with that, but what rom are you running? Personally, whenever you have funky issues with the o.s., it's almost always best to do a hard reset.
There may be a good chance you have no space on your internal storage thus renders the installation unsuccessful.
Go to settings->system->memory to check the available storage.
If you do not wish a cab to be deleted after installation, change the property of that file to "read-only" either on a pc or use total commander.

i am using SPB mobile shell as my aftermarket rom...but i've been using that for awhile with no problems...even with hard reset (as in turning off the phone and on), i still can't access the "remove programs" and actually DO anything....the only thing it seems like i CAN do is do a full, factory reset, but i really don't want to resort to that.....
and wearefree, i did check the available storage, and it's not fully taken up...granted, it's not a lot left for storage, but still there's a good amount left for a few more progams to be installed
i appreciate all your guys' help...anyone else? is there still a way for me to install progams through active sync/computer....? instead of doing it the CAB style...?
thanks

I was referring to a "hard reset", not just turning the phone off and on. That's a soft reset. When you do a hard reset, it basically rewrites over the os, so you will lose all you data, but it will be a fresh start, so you know there shouldn't be any errors. To do a hard reset, you press and hold the 1 and 2 buttons on the phone (buttons about talk and end) and press the soft reset button on the side. (with the stylus)
I also have this problem and would like to know an answer...i have hard reset and its done nothing..its almost like tmoble has it locked from putting programs in

Gotta learn this stuff

You guys are genious. I need serious help. First I have a services.exe error everytime I shut off or soft reset. Any one know what to do or if it even matters.
Second all this talk about running things and saving space. I need more memory saving. I don't have a clue what I really need and what I can get rid off to save oh ram. or hard drive memory too. Please tell me exactly what to do.
NExt on my HTC Imagio I want to run SBP mobile shell but I want to run TF3 too because I like the weather start up on it and I can't get to it with spb shell running someone talked about it but I can't figure out what to do based on what I read, I want to start up TF3 and then hit a button to go to shell. ANy one know how to do itl Also I have Pocket Mechanic and all kinds of tools but not SK Tools. I have Vitual Espolorer cuz I thought that would help me ID files but now that I can ID them I doh't know what I need and what I don;t. If I get SK Tools will it help me know what to do. Nothing comes with a manual anynmore. I need a detailed manual for the phone and how it works not what it does. Can anyone answer these with esplicit directions cuz I don;t know a .dll from anything else. I only know that an exe runs something, So Im really dumb about all this. ANyone know how to help. It 2:30 AM and I;ve been up all night for a week trying to figure out things on this phone. So far I like it a lot but the more I add the slower I get and I might want to add more. HELP!!!!!! Going crazy.....
OK, that's a whole lot for anyone to try to process. First things first, what's your biggest problem? The best way to get help is to knock down the issues one at a time.
The first problem is I have a services.exe error every time I turn the phone on after it's been off or any time I reset it. That's first
Based on a little Googling, it looks like the only fix for a services.exe error is a hard reset. I pasted the info on a hard reset below for you:
This will wipe all data off the phone and restore factory default settings.
1. While the phone is off, press and hold Volume Down + Talk/Send + End/Power.
2. When the device displays a message about wiping the data, release all 3 buttons.
3. Press Volume Up to complete the hard reset.

I don't know what programs you are trying to move, listen, just forget moving programs, back up or your files via myphone or use activesync to store everything you want on your computer. When you perform a hard reset either by the method listed or by going to Start->settings->all settings->system->memory then selecting clear storage tab, letting win mo come back up and customize then before you do anything when it restarts, hard reset again, for some reason this helps the functionality of native software. Then immediately take care of the tv icon, proxy mem. tweak, and nopifix. Then what ever you need to install try to install to your sd card via downloading from this xda site for cab files or doing a little google searching rather than installing directly from market place. EXCEPTION: DO NOT INSTALL TWEAKS TO SD CARD OR ITEMS THAT ROTATE THE SCREEN. Keep all the cab files on your pc or on your storage card so that you have them whenever you decide to hard reset or flash your device. Enjoy your imagio thing only become easier the more you use and play.
I must not have my activcesnyc set up right because the only thing it backsup is my contacts, email, journal and a file folder full of what ever I want to but in that folder but thats snyc with my docs on my devic and I don't want to over load it. When I had a palm it used to back everythng up to a file on my computr and I could just reinstall but this windows stuff doesn't seem to do it. How do I set up active sync to sync everythi ng on my devide and card to back up to my computer.? Ans I don't have a clue what you were talking aabout when you said take care of your tv and those other files, not a clue. I have mobil shell on my phone is that what your taling about not having on the phoen. You need to talk like your talking to a 12 year old when your explaining this stuff to me. Thanks. L

Hey you said something about getting rid of the tv icon and other stuff after a hard reset, but never explained in detail. plz help, thx
After weeks of zero issues (aside from memory leak), I just got a barrage of services.exe errors this morning. Phone was throwing error after error even after a soft reset. After three soft resets it's finally working now (after another services.exe error). I didn't make a single change to my configuration though so I'm a big perplexed as to why these just started showing up now. I was really starting to get content with my Imagio too...sigh.

HELP! Music tab taking too long to load. How do I skip it.

Hi all,
I've got a 16 gig sim card full of music.
The music tab takes too long to load.
When I accidentally touch or load the music its a very distracting pause.
Can someone please develop a way to keep the music from loading at first touch?
Perhaps show the music screen only (without loading the music).
With a touch button the has a label "Load" or "Continue".
Hey there,
First of all, have u uppdated ur music library? Secondly (it it's still there) u can eliminate it by going into landscape mode, select any album and select any song. Then switch back to normal mode, the next time there will be only one album to load, bam instantly!
That's how i solved my problem as i also got a 16GB filled with music.
Hope it helps, cheers

Hi
I find it frustrating too - if I sync the phone or use it as a USB drive (which I do several times a day) then the music doesn't play immediately when I start it - it has to scan again!
Annoying.
There are several threads open with this same problem and all are opened in the last 2 weeks. As for now, there is no solution found for this problem.
I propose we collect all requests (because that's what it is) in one thread and send a link to it to HTC Support.

1. Copy your entire storage card to a directory on your desktop pc. 2. Light up a cigaret and take a cup of coffee, maybe make a few calls 3. Format the storage card with your desktop pc (fat 32, default clustersize). 4. Copy your files back. 5. finish your cup of coffee, light another cigaret. Do some other stuff you usually postpone (now it's a good time) 6. Done
Tried d landscape trick now got d music sense working in a flash..... Thanks for d tip....
