hi
I have a xda2 pocket pc with a 22pin(USB/Serial) interface.
is there any way to use the interface to plug in a multimedia card reader or a digital camera?
I want to be able to transfer my digital camera pictures straight to my pda.
I don't think so, I've looked into it, but from what I've found the XDA doens't have the right Hardware to act as a USB host, it can only act as a client. There might be some way to hook up a serial interface, but I don't know...
My camera has a 128MB SD card, and my XDA has a 1GB SD card so I'm sorted anyway
I dont think you can do that but if your camera uses cf cards it is possible to obtain an sd to cf card adaptor, you slot the sd card into the cf adaptor then slot the cf adaptor into the camera, when you wish to transfer pictures you remove the sd card from adaptor and place it in your xda. I dont know if this helps but here is the link.

thank you
When I was choosing a camera, I looked for one that will use SD/MMC card. No problems with interface at all! SD card that came with camera was showing as full of normal, viewable JPEGs. There is a lot of free memory in XDA to serve as buffer between SD card and another SD card (we aren't talking about gigs of photos here )
If camera is already bought but uses CF, there is a "backpack" add-on device for XDA II which adds a spare battery, CF slot and VGA output. I have one. So CF card can be copied.
The only problem is that backpack is quite expensive - may be worth to change camera instead - they're getting cheaper each month.
I buy a 2Gb mini sd with adapter, but when i insert the memory in my prophet, the memory is not appear in the memory manager. is not possible use a mini SD with the prophet and Magician?

Are you sure the card can be detected properly? do you have a sd card reader to see if windows can detect?
I don't have SD reader
No, i don't have a sd card reader to use with the computer to verify the card, but the sd card is a Kingstom standard mini sd card with him adapter to SD.
The card isn't reconigzed by the prophet and isn't reconigzed by the magician.
The type and size have problems with this models of XDA?
My guess is that the mini-sd to sd card adapter is busted. you should double check with another device to be sure. I doubt sd slot on the pda is busted (have you tried another sd card?). I've used a 2gig sandisk mini-sd car with an adapter in my dopod818pro no problems.
my miniSD adapter is a bit.. wacky. Try this.
Take both of them out.
Take the miniSD out of the adapter
Reinsert it, firmly but not too 'pushy'.
Now, the trick here, when you insert both of then into your phone, try not to push it on the miniSD, instead, push it on both side of the adaptor (eg ONLY touch the adapter when pushing into the phone, and balance it (left and right)).
I'm interested in using the Advantage to have as a mini laptop/phone access/gps and camera card backup device.
As such it would be spot on, small enough to fit in my rucksack but usable in the field.
But can you use a USB or other card reader to backup CF cards to the 8/16gb internal memory?
Edit: Just going to change me request, to who has tried a card reader? As i know it "should" work with one but who has?
Works fine on mine, using a cheap sd card reader.
Its CF cards i'm interested in. So i can back up my SLR images to the 8gb internal drive. Do you know if those work?
Well, I said cheap SD reader, but it's actually one of those multi card readers, and it has a CF slot as well. I don't use CF cards so can't test that, but the Athena reads SD, MMC and Sony Pro Duo cards through it fine, so I have no reason to believe that CF cards won't work.

Just read your post so whipped out the 4 in 1 cable and cheapie 25 in 1 card
reader and yes it sees the SD card NO it will not read the 2 gb CF
card from my Axim51v.

I wonder if it could be that the CF cards sucks more power, then if we use a card reader with an external power source, do you think that would work?
...
Ouch, hmm that could be a killer for me. Thanks for looking though its most appreciated.
Well I used the same reader and CF on my host pc and it works fine.
It's either a power issue or because the 7501 doesn't have a driver
relating to the reading of CFs.
The 7501 should read CF cards just fine - it's more likely a power issue or a FAT issue. I've just tested a few of my cards and found something interesting (I'm using the Dopod U1000) - the Athena will only read one external volume at a time. This was tested with a 4GB Sandisk M2 card with Memory Stick adapter, 2GB Transcend SD (SDIO1.0) card, and 1GB Transcend CF card, through two different multi-card readers, and with both the 4-in-1 cable and dock. All of the cards could be read, but only one at a time. A soft reset was also occasionally required.
This was surprising to me, because I once attached three FAT32 external HDDs to a Pocket Loox 720, and damn me if it didn't mount and read all three. Me being the curious type, I put both card readers through a powered hub and attached that to the Athena - same thing, only one card from one card reader could be read at any one time. I tried the same experiment on my Loox, and it also mounted only one card per card reader, but both card readers could be used at the same time. Just for fun, I added a usb flash drive and an independently powered 40GB FAT32 desktop drive in an external case, both mounted and could be read as well - I had Hard Disk 1 through 4 in File Explorer. At a guess, I'd say the one external volume limit is a problem with the Athena's mass storage driver, or something in the registry.
I also tried an 8GB Seagate ST1.2 CF Microdrive which couldn't be read in any configuration, with or without independent power to the card readers - as this card requires much more power than flash based CF, I'm not too surprised. I have an 8GB CF at home I'll try out later.

I've tried this card with both my card readers - it works just fine. I don't know what's going on with bigtsr's card, but my (flash-based) CF cards all appear to work.
Hi all.
Is it possible to use multiple Sd cards on hima?
I did`t find any product that would split Sd card slot like hub or something.
I read article where it states that with MMC bus it would be possible to use multiple cards.
So is it possible to do that on himalaya?
If possible I am planing to wire MicroSD adapter to 2 SD slots (from old SD card readers). Will I need something in between like resistor, power supply or something else? Will I need some kind of driver to separate those cards data?
How large is the risk of burning SD slot on himalaya or is there safe way to test it without damaging my phone?

Sorry for bad eng. Thanks
Hello every1.
1) Does smartphone (Moto X Style in this situation) support read/write speeds of microSD cards like Samsung PRO+, or LEXAR 1000x? Can some1 confirm it with some sort of speed test? I understand that actual ~90MB/sek is possible with usb 3.0 adapter from card to PC, bus I am curious, what is the max read/write speed using this sort of card at Moto X Style? Will it transfer data with max speed, or just ~20-30 MB/sek like other cards?
2) Spend a lot of time reading about accessories, and I found out that there is problem with some of Aukey quick charge 2.0 power banks and car chargers. Can some1 write down what is best option for Moto X Style, that can fast charge this device using power bank/car charger?
I live in Europe, so I am interesting only in stuff that is sold in Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de, not Amazon.com.
Thanks for hep.!
Don't know about the speed but I amusing Lexar 128GB micro sd card w/o any issues. I don't think card speed makes much of a difference as I have tried all different type of cards. It some what depends upon the phone/hardware writing mechanism. Here is a link to the card I am using:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O1M21H8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
I don't use power banks but no issues with OEM Motorola charger. I got one for work at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-SPN5...44317585&sr=8-1&keywords=OEM+Motorola+charger
I'm using a Sandisk Extreme PRO 64GB card, and I do indeed get around 70MBps - 90MBps when writing to the card directly from PC --> microSD card. When copying from internal phone memory to microSD card, I get around 35-40 MBps. Though I'd suspect that's a limitation of the read speed on the internal memory, and not a bottleneck on the write speed of the microSD card.
Copying files over a USB cable or WiFi connection will obviously be limited by the max speed limit of USB 2.0, and whatever your WiFi connection can support. Overall, I'd say that spending the extra money for a fast microSD (instead of a standard-speed microSD card) card isn't critical. But it's a nice-to-have if you copy a lot of files to/from the microSD card (e.g. movies), and have the money to spend on it.
As for power accessories, I went with a:
* Tenergy combination wall charger + power charger:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XK6YWM8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
* Anker power bank battery:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013HSQXZC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
All 3 of those charger items arrived, and work as expected. I can't say much about the longevity of those products, but I can say that I overall have good experiences with Anker charge products.
Thanks guys for answers.
As I see more than ~40 MB/sek its impossible to get when copying info from internal to external memory, but thanks!
