I am just wondering if there is a way of getting TOM TOM navigator to work on my tablet pc, via some form of emulating software. Or am I going to have to dig deep into the pockets and buy another voice system for it?

After looking around, I am still going nowhere.
I am very keen to use my XDA as a GPS navigation device while driving.
I understand I need a mouse(receiver). Where can I get a good one. I am staying in Singapore.
Anyone here knows how to covert those maps use in Garmin device to those can be used in our pocket pc?
Can you obtain GPS location (lat/long) from a TomTom 500 via bluetooth to the Universal?
My thoughts are to use the Tom Tom like a normal GPS device for when I am driving (SDIO/bt GPS for the phone not really wanted at the mo, in case I get a different device later), and then to record my trips via some software (self developed if necassary) on the Universal.
TIA

seems like the silence means a no. ho hum
I'm pretty sure lat/long feature is available in TomTom- I remember looking into that when I first installed TT on my JAM.
So you should be able to use your own software to do something with it. Perhaps there's already an app that does what you want. I remember someone else here on the forum wanting to do a similar thing.
Hi. I'm looking for some type of software that will give me driving directions without having a GPS unit or a connection to the internet. If anyone is familiar with Microsoft's Streets and Trips, I am looking for something like that. I know they have Pocket Streets, but unfortunately Pocket Streets does not have routing capabilities. Any ideas?
Hi,
I should touch wood get my HD this week and will want some good gps software on it.
Now I have been looking at the following:
IGO8
TomTom
Garmin
I don't mind paying but obviously I want the software to work on the HD. I also need the software to have a good global coverage of mps as there is a high probability next year I could be travelling to a few countries. Which would you recommend and why?
Obviously, I would recomment IGO08.
It is the most user friendly, and has beautiful graphics.
IGO08 has the best map coverage.
tomtom is purely ****.
Yeah I do like the looks of the IGO8. Anyone know when it will be for sale as it says to be announced on Expansys? I know there are other ways of getting it but just curious to when I can buy it/see the price.
I'd like a cheap (preferably free) GPS that doesn't use too much data (250MB, sigh...) - I've looked at Google Mobile Maps but it seems to use a lot?
I only really need it for a very limited area - 2 cities plus London (pref. with underground map!) so don't want to shell out for a complex program. Only going to use it on the train, bus and walking as I don't drive - so a little bit out is fine.
Any suggestions?
If you're going to buy the software then I'd be suspicious of TomTom's licencing system.
My wife bought TomTom6 plus the bluetooth GPS receiver for me as a gift when I had my XDA2 about four years ago. It worked great. However, a few months later when I upgraded my phone I discovered that I couldn't install TT on the new machine (a Universal) because it was already registered to the XDA2. TomTom's licencing conditions are specific about this.
I had no choice but to find a cracked copy of TomTom online and use that, and I've been doing that ever since, despite the fact that I've got a legal copy of the same software on CD. Old versions of the software also refuse to install on more modern machines, even though these machines tend to be backwards-compatible.
I found the situation so objectionable that out of principle now I would refuse to give TomTom any more money. Their software is expensive and so IMHO they should be flexible in allowing us to upgrade our PDAs.

hi all,
have just recently got tom tom up and running on my blackstone,
have a few questions as no doubt they can be resloved using applications and configurations in one way or another,
i will be using this feature on my motorbike as i cant stand driving cars
and due to this have encountered a few issues.
as i cant see the screen as the phone is in my pocket is there any way i can disable the backlight and lock the touch screen/ hard buttons and still have the tom tom software running?
i will have a head set on in my helmet so all i need is the voice directions from the software,
also, can i block all incoming calls?
i suppose i could just switch it to divert prior to getting on my bike.
last question,
when first installing the tom tom software i went outside the house to see if it worked while on foot, and the GPS reception was perfect...
i then went in installed some 3rd party route planning software on my PC to test routes and all of a sudden the gps signal is awful, it keeps dropping out. will only connect for a few seconds then drop again.
is there any thing i can do or install to improve gps performance?
