Replacing scratched face...

A couple of weeks after getting my S2 I scratched the surface in three areas enough to distort the light coming through the screen. At that time I bought a fine abrasive and small buffing disc that attached to a drill ..... Whilst the results were acceptable.(no more light refraction) there were, under close observation, imperfections.
So recently I found a replacement part. Its a good quality front plate for the S2 and I am going to be replacing it this weekend. I have not seen any tutorials for this on XDA and wanted to know if anyone has come across a tut.? If there isn't one I'm thinking of taking a couple of photos along the way to post for people in the future.
let me know what you think?

Have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175772 it should help you out a bit.
Still would like to see some photos if you're going to do this though, good luck!
Had a look today. Opened up the back and all went well. I was able to strip everything out (pcbs;mics;cameras.)except the screen. If I were to guess it's attached to the middle chassis by a glue or tape in addition to that the gorilla glass is attached to the lcd by a type of optical glue either way I didn't want to risk £100 for what is a good working phone....at this time.
Milkybar many thanks for the link.

Worth a possible return

I just got a another new nexus , but it has the screen ripple. Should I exchange it, or try to fix it. It might be because I tried to fix the screen lift, and i loosened some screws. What should I do? What do you think you would do

Remove the screws and add some washers. The screws are too long and causing pressure.
There is a thread about using plastic from medicine pill packaging which is what I used. The backplate pulls the screen down and the innards out. I used 3 little washers total. The screws need to be snug or the back will push then screws and make other problems.

Could you elaborate on what you mean? I just loosened them, and they are decently snug, but I feel like the lift is going away (knock on wood) I would love to know what you are trying to say. By the way that guide helped. Thanks

[Q] Replacement chrome bezel?

Hey, random question... I have a nick in my bezel after dropping it three feet, face down, with a case on. It is just above and a little to the left of the front camera. Anyone know a source to get a replacement bezel, and how difficult it is to replace them?
Or, any suggestions on how to fix it?

Not sure about where to obtain spare parts yet, but when you find that out, here's a great video for how to completely disassemble/reassemble your N4: http://youtu.be/AZDAIgwbXk4

Replacement camera lens glass (back).

So I turned over my tablet today to find that my back camera glass is smashed. I have no idea how or when this happened . The back camera still works but I need something back there to protect the lens. I found the part number and description from this thread
"60.H6002.002
CAMERA GLASS FOR 5M CAMERA (INCLUDED WITH BACK COVER)
A500
MISC "
I have no idea what to do with this information though. I can't find anything through eBay thus far.
You have to get the entire back panel. Either that or get a unit with a broken screen/digitizer and pull the MB and back cover. Use the back cover, then sell the MB. I had a back panel I could have sent you about a month ago, but I needed to get rid of stuff.

I tried searching eBay for A500 back cover but didn't find anything exact. Is it possible to just get a piece of plastic or something (like from the 3d glasses you get at movies) and glue it into place? I don't necessarily need anything fancy just enough to keep dust and debris out.

There's one for parts with a broken screen:

Wow, did that thing get run over? Unfortunately, if you look at the pictures, the the lens cover is missing from this unit so it wouldn't work.
Here's a back cover. Seems to have the camera window intact.

Perhaps a stupid question re: camera lens.

There is a piece of thin plastic covering the camera lens on my phone. It looks like it will require a little more effort than the other plastic strips (around the sides of the phone, for example) to get off. At the risk of messing up the camera lens I ask, am I supposed to take it off?
I can try to get a pic if I need to.

Yes. Use tape to pull it off
I noticed this as well, does the plastic wrap behind the back cover or can it be removed without taking the back cover off?

Some people say take it off, others don't. I was wondering why you haven't tried to search for this subject? It has been mentioned in several threads already.
