I was sat in Starbucks yesterday happily surfing using Skweezer (a must have), when a call came and the XDA II started ringing.
Up popped the 'answer' box. I tapped answer and the XDA hard reset!
Restored using my Sprite back-up - this is such a great program - and was up and running again in 3 minutes.
Surfed again and another call came. XDA froze.
Soft reset sorted it.
What is supposed to happen when using GPRS and a call comes in?
Has anyone else experienced this?
ROM 1.60.00WWE
Radio 1.10.11
Protocol 1337.18
ExtRom version 1.60.50
a normal call or sms will disable grps but it should not hardreset your device
maybe it's a bug in the rom not sure

Call Duration error
Hi! I'm just a new member. I also experience the same thing. I only have my xda 2 for 2 months and my call duration shows 11375 hours outgoingcalls. but my incoming is correct. I tried updating rom versions still no go. I believe this could be caused by some 3rd party apps i installed. or there must be a bug in the software. Can anyone help me also about this problem? I used to have asia rom version for my phone since i'm located in the philippines but now i upgrade it to 1.72.00wwe which i believe is for european countries.

I've noticed since I got my XDA IIi that the GPRS seems to 'stick'. It's got worse since I upgraded the ROM and Radio (ver 1.72.00WWE and 1.17.00 respectively).
What happens is that I attempt a GPRS connection but I get a message telling me that the either the dialled number didn't answer or it couldn't connect. However, if I do a 'soft' reset I can connect. The problem seems not to occur if I remain within a cell. ie. once I've done a soft reset at work then it's OK until I go home and vice-versa. Any ideas or suggestions? I did have this problem with the original XDA and when I contacted O2 I got answers which either insulted my intelligence or had a destinct whiff of BS about them but never a viable suggestion.

i have this problem two in the uk
GPRS Connection problem
Hi ya every one, I am new to this sight. Came accross your GPRS connection problem, I got my XDA II, about month a go, and also have GPRS connection problem, tryed everything my self and had to take it to the telecoms, but still, they gave me all the info but couldnt do it.
This morning however I managed to connect theres wahat I've done
1. Deleated all modem conections
2. Done a soft reset
3. Set up a new ISP modem connection
(theres the impotant bit: this time I didnt set up and IP or DSN in advanced tab, I left them blank.)
tryed to connect, and it worked
So try it, may be that will help
I have an HTC Universal (O2 XDA Exec).
I've had the phone since the end of March and got it as new from an O2 store here in the UK and it has functioned as expected
I upgraded to the latest ROM using the ROM upgrade from the O2 UK website pretty much as soon as the ROM was published online and the phone has performed well.
ROM Version 1.30.107 WWE
ROM date 04/11/06
Radio version 1.09.00
Protocol version 42.42.p8
For the last two weeks however I have been experiencing an intermittent problem. I've had the problem occur maybe 4 times in two weeks
Occasionally I will dial a phone number and get a connection as expected. The person I am calling can hear me as expected but I only hear silence on the line. This will happen for many numbers that I try. I will then try a different number and I can then suddenly make a succesful call. Incidentally, if I try calling from another phone I can get through OK, so it's clear it's a problem on the phone and not the network
The problem is intermittent.
I took the phone to an O2 shop last weekend and they tried to make a call on the phone. They called their own store number and found the problem as I described above.
The problem does not always manifest itself so it's difficult to demonstrate it repeatedly.
Has anyone come up against this and are there any DIY fixes?
I've sent an email to HTC through their online support portal. I'm planning on giving their customer support desk a call if I do'nt get a response.
Many thanks
Hi I have had my TyTN for about two weeks now and it seems to be dropping at least 50% or more of the calls. What I mean about dropping calls is, one they don't even ring straight to voice mail or two they ring once then go straight to voicemail. I have read all the threads about this want to know if anyone else has got an suggestions my specs are below.
Phone: HTC branded
Network: Simyo (Eplus) Germany, 3G inactive only GSM
2GB memory card
Programs Running: SPB, GPRS monitor, worldcard, worldmate, TCMP (I am not sure if one of the programs would effect this issue)
ROM Version: 1.18.255.3
ROM Date: 07.22.06
Radio Version: 1.03.03.10
ExtROM Version: 1.18.255.106
Sim Card: It is a sim card from my old Nokia, I never had any problems with my phone or calls being dropped, so I believe it is something to do with the TyTN.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Otherwise I see myself getting rid of this device if it can not be trusted
thanks in advance for the help,
Mike

Just a couple of thoughts. Some folks find that having long ringtones particularly on SD card can cause ring delays (simple short ones are best and in basic windows format i.e. some of the standard tones that come with the device).
If you do a search on the "3 ring delay" you may find a patch that prevents this srtrange windows mobile delayed ringing issue. I got a patch somewhere but can't remember where now. I think the tweaks2k2 programme also has the facility to turn it off as well.

This may sound stupid but to fix this problem I just rang my provider and asked if they could make it ring longer before going to voice mail. I have a very long ring but there is not much delay in loading it. I have also been doing many tests using the phone and I can tell you that calls are "offering" very quickly on the device. The cprog normally takes a few seconds to decide what to do but programmatically the call is seen almost instantly after I press dial on the other phone. I do not think there is anything wrong with the hermes in this respect - more likely your network.
Hey. I'm a new user
Bought an elf bout a month back, but the phone has big problem. Randomly, it doesn't ring when someone calls! Shows no missed calls either. Messages don't come as well.
And all this is very random. Some calls do come through. some don't.
Googled and found that a lot of peeps have the same problem. Supposedly, the phone doesn't ring when it is in sleep mode.
But i've had the problem even when i've had the phone constantly on and just locked.
I've tried soft reset but it doesn't work...
Should i get the phone replaced or repaired
Or is there any other solution.
I tried searching this forum but couldn't find any threads related to this problem. There was no information in the wiki either. Can someone help me???
I have htc home customiser, slide to unlock and a picture viewer installed. Original rom
Try hard reset, but remember to backup all your data before. Contacts, appointments, files etc. And better remove SD and SIM before doing it.
Well. Tried hard reset.
Unfortunately did it before i read your reply and did it with the card and the sim in it
I did back up all my data and contacts though
But the problem still persists
I guess i have to make a visit to the sevice centre after all...

Problem after Upgrade
Hey I have a similar problem...
I upgraded my ROM and since then I cannot turn off my Phone cus if I do when i turn it on the Radio (as in Network) WON'T WORK! Even after I insert pin # it just says there are no networks available although every other phone in the house has network... I've tried rolling back to my old ROM (Blue Elves) but the problem persists...
Do you think maybe another Radio version would help?
The new ROM I installed had the latest Radio version and still, same problem... I'm stuck with a phone that has no signal...
Can anyone help?
Thank you!
even am having this problem of not receiving calls.....i even tried a radio ROM upgrade but still the problem exists...damn irritated....any solution for this?
Similar Problem
Maybe CPU don not support. All functions well, but when I connect wireless, Bluetooth and GSM (long call), mine friezes. I have no solution.
Same problem for me too.
I even took my phone to my provider and they messed around with the IPL, SPL and ROM but still could not figure out what's wrong. I get txt msgs (didn't bother trying outgoing) and I can connect EDGE and GPRS but can't make or receive any phone calls.
I did notice sometimes the phone searches for a network but can't find it (even when locked to my provider).
This has to be a common problem. All other functions on the phone works fine.
Please if any of you find a solution, share it with the rest.
Thanks
Onix Light Version Rom Cooked by myself.
FOR ELF/ELFIN
This version cooked by myself solve the problem of unexpected shut down on 50% and 30% of the battery. A ONYX JR. 4.1.4 (Lighter) was cooked with the last radio IPL & SPL.
I have tested about 20 different Roms and I found some stability in a HTC Touch ELF with this cooked ROM. Similar problems occurred with various IPL & SPL and radio versions.
I supposed the hard code for this OMAP850 with speed of 201MHZ is too heavy for all the functions working at the same time. With some rom versions the battery goes down like 20% in 10 minutes with All radio functions (wi-fi, BT, GSM). I supposed it´s solved.
Mine is working for 3 days without reset.
Please feel free to try. Mail me to [email protected] , because I don´t know if I could post a link here.
Notes:
REMEMBER YOUR HTC ELF/ELFIN MUST BE SIM AND CID UNLOCKED. (FIND THE WAY IN XDA DEVELOPERS AT THIS LINK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637 )
ELFIN: Free Storage Memory: 171.27MB; Free Program Memory: 79.23MB (Version 4.1.2 with only M2D running)
ELF: Free Storage Memory: 54.22MB; Free Program Memory: 22.91MB (Version 4.1.2 with only M2D running)

Ps: I have sent mine to HTC, and the solution was changing the mainboard for 179€. Bahhhhhh no away.
