Um.... *giggle* that could be fun, but it would drain the battery. Why don't you get a real one instead.
I'm sorry, I couldn't help it.
lol i suppose u would need a constant tone as a ring tone
Not sure its a documented feature tho
add aload of songs together and save it in .wma (Windows media audio) and hey that shud be enuff My ringtones 3/4 mins long anyways
i set my xda2 on vibrate mode and rang me self from home, but the vibration is in pulses of 2 seconds and 2 second pauses instead of a constant vibration.
need a hak to remove the pauses. any idea anyone ?
i dont suppose theres anyeay to "water proof" the xda2 during it's vibration?

I could write you an app. to do that, but that would work only on demand (a button), not when someone calls you...
do you really want it?

Hi There,
I have just got one of these and have a problem maybe someone can help me with.
When the phone is in my pocket and turned off, when I get a text or phone call the phone turns it self on. If I dont hear it then the screen and buttons are active and it starts edditing, sending phoning people or whatever. Is there any way of stopping it doing this, a keylock thing or something.
Any help would be really apreciated.
All the best
Andy
I just make sure the message alert is loud enough to hear.
Hi BobTheDog,
TheBrit is right that u must be sure that youre volume is loud enough.
be aware that the magician has 3 different types of volume
- Pocket Pc (programs and games)
- Ringtone (when someone calls you)
- Call (while u are calling)
there is also an option to let the magician vibrate, maby u can feel it instead of hearing it.
I do not know how to totaly lock you're device. But i use Mort Saver to lock my screen and buttons. If you're magician is locked and u get an incomming call u can awnser while Mort Saver is running, cause the incomming call pop-up will push Mort Saver to the background. But after the call ends Mort Saver automaticly locks the screen again.

Hopefully this helps u
Hi There,
Thanks for the answers and help.
The MortSaver is what I was after.

Hi to all,
i'm in a deep trouble with my jasjar, after 2 months of work it simply stopped to use internal speaker & mic for phone calls, but it plays the usual ringtone...
it can't play mp3 and so on, but it plays the ringtones but not the alarm or sms things... so my question:
is the speaker really broken or what?
i noticed that sometimes with jasjar in portrait mode it works... no way in landscape, so i was thinking of some electrical connections between the lcd and the turning pieces...
i'll probably return to the assistance but i'd like to know your experiences...
sorry for my english and thanks to all in advance.

Doesn't seem like a hardware problem. Did you try doing a hard-reset? Just press on "clear storage" in programs. Should restore your device to factory state. Hope you have backed up your PIM data through activesync. If you haven't then just copy the pim.vol file on your device to your computer. You can replace it after a hard-reset and all your PIM data will be restored.
Post your results here after the whole process.

i forgot: i've already tried an hard-reset and then a rom upgrade.. nothing seems to change...
it sounds strange to me too, cause the speaker is not gone at all, but it is a difficult thing to manage ...
what about electrical connections between the screen and the keyboard device? is it possible that it screwed up from a turn to another?
Matteo,
When my speaker and mic did not work (and ringtone did work!) I tested the sound with the wired headset. Everything worked.
Then I pulled the headset out again and the speaker sound is back. So it was a contact. But it felt like a software problem.
The Jasjar thought that my headset was still in.
Even the "speaker on" button did not react.
Does it change in "speaker off" when you click it during a call?
I think it will help to plug in and out the headset.
But give it a shot.

^ that's exactly what happened to my old imate jam. I did this and it worked! As far as i can remember, i was on the plane (14-hour flight) while using the jam as my mp3 player, the battery just died (after warning ofcourse) and when i tried to power it back on, the speaker is messed up.

Then it could be a software error in stead of a loose contact.
The PPC thinks that the plug is still in and needs "reprogrammed" by putting it back in and pulling out?
The fact that the "speaker on" button can not toggle itself anymore is a clear signal. In my case it could have been, because I pulled it out while Skype was hanging, so again no option to "tell" the Jasjar it is pulled out?
But of course an ordinary loose contact is still possible?

I dont think this is the problem....he's reflashed the rom, done a hard reset...nothing has helped
I guess your hardware has indeed coughed up!
S
OK, then still we have not heard from Matteo, if he tried to move that plug in and out.
If he hears the ringtone and cannot speak/use the mike then he can be concentrated on that plug. Certainly if his wired headset works.
But if he reflashed we can be sure it is no software. (Still after reflashing some settings remain intact. )
Right/wrong?
At least in my case, with the same symptoms, it worked.
Huib
Hi man, thank u for ur reply...
u'll probably won't believe to me but when i saw ur post i did the plug in&out trick with the wired headset... nothing changed.
Today after some bluetooth problem with my old jabra it started again to work perfectly.. sounds strange? sounds impossible but that's it....
maybe the wired connector was having problem, but i think there is a more complex situation, maybe somethin' about the software but i can't say that for sure...
i didn't try yet a reset or so on.... i'm scared
thank u all guys, u'r the best...!

JASJAR PARTS
I have a complete JASJAR worth of parts available.
Complete motherboard, not working
Complete screen, LCD is cracked, works, with 5% of the screen bleeding.
Full case, no cracks.
Speakers, mic, camera, etc.
All covers in good condition.
I will probably part them out soon on Ebay.
I used this unit for parts to build up another good JASJAR, but it may be useful for someone.

Hi Tim!
I really need one d-pad button (if it is a seperate thing then the big one without the center button). If you can sell it to me, please send me a mail.
THX
FWIW, my Jasjar has been acting strange lately with sounds. The other day I thought my speaker was toast and found that, upon going into Sounds & Notifications, all the checkmarks for sound were unticked. Turned the sounds back on and, wow, they worked.
All my mailboxes disappeared yesterday (Besides Hotmail, Outlook, Texts, MMS), so I think WM 5 might just like to play tricks with the registry. It's a long shot, but check those sounds & notifications settings - it saved me a heart attack.
Again.. Speaker Gone
Hi to all, first of all happy new year.
After several days without problem my jasjar re-started to think it's headset is still plugged-in.
No sound except for the ringtone. No effects on the speaker on in call...
Obviusly the plug-in plug-out trick of the headset doesn't help.
So, if it worked for several days it's not an electrical problem.
Hard-reset doesn't help... is there a way to tell JJ to not use the headset or something like that?
what do u think about?
thnks to all

It's seems like your headset jack is creating the probelm. The only way right now is to send it for repair. Unless you can do the repair yourself. It seems like the headphone jack , one of the contact point is connected telling your JJ that there's a headset inserted. I might be wrong though.
Thank for your quick reply,
is it possible to do some software trick to disable at all the headset?
or is it possible to attach another jack with pin connected in some way to tell JJ to not bother...

SOOOOOOOO Frustrating
I have the same problem and cannot get my sound back!! I am able to take the Universal (XDA EXEC) apart, and can access the headphone jack, but i cannot tell what it is that I need to change to get my sound back, If anyone has some insight, please help out, thanks
Basically only just got my SPV M600 yesterday, been faffing with it etc, and now ive lost all sound, have no idea why its not playing music etc, as all the sound levels are turned up.
Is there something im doing wrong? Secret silent button? lol
Cheers

Ok well, just done a reset to manufacturer standard settings, and still no sound

just to warn you - you will loose all your information on the device - so take precautions, synchronize with PC... The hard reset is performed the following way - Press and hold the Camera and the CommManager buttons and in the same time reset the device with the stylus. Do not release the Camera and the CommManager button until you see a text asking you to format the FAT. Then press send and you are ready...
so that means ill even loose operating system? how would i go about putting it back on?
Jeez i sound like such a useless bugger, i build pc's for part of my living lol
All this mobile stuff is new to me though.
Thanks
EDIT :
just done hard reset, and its still got no sound
Col
well well, just upgraded to wm6, and still no sound, also, speakerphone in calls doesnt work, i get no ringtone, this is pissing me off lol
I just want my sound back lol
Col
heeelllpp
someone must have an answer lol
Col
ok, just found a 2.5 TO 3.5 JACK THINGY for sale at maplins, will go tmoro and then try headphones on it if that fails then i have no idea what steps to take next
Colin
does it have sound when u plugin ur headset? do you always plugin ur headset to the phone? i maybe think there's something wrong with the headset jack or slot, either short circuit or whatever, i am not sure as i am no expert.
last time my neo also like that..u can try and put the headset back in again, then try to remove it again, but maybe slowly. try a few times and i think it will be ok. from that that time onwards, i never use the headset...bought a bluetooth headset.
it worked fine last nite, and ive never used a headset. thats why im gonna buy a 2.5 jack to try some headphones tommorow, see if i get sound from them. ah well, have it less than a day and it breaks lol
Cheers
Colin
FIXED
was the red wire on speaker lol
w000t
Col
How did you fix that ?
My S200 have the same problem , i have a paper up the speaker on the red wire, but sometimes it rings, and sometimes not.
What is your trick ?
Check out this thread, it may help...

This post is for the Magician, but it may help with your prophet too.
Also, there was talk about a software bug that caused problems like this. The solution was to:
Call voicemail (or somewhere that you KNOW is generating sound)
Plug in your Headset, listen for sound...
Unplug the headset.
I dont know if that was the exact solution. The above post has a link to other posts, as well.
-j
i think your speaker is out. same problem as mine, tried the 'sponge' method & worked for a while, think mine needs to be replaced. prophet speakers tend to have a lot of problems from what i gather...
try searching in the prophet forum for 'speaker' u can find the thread that i'm talking about.
Any developers here think about a noise-based profiles software for our PPC-Phone? the program use the microphone to identify the background noise to decide which sound profile to use. For example, loud noise will make the phone change to load volume and quiet environment change the phone to silent or soft volume. That software will prevent the phone to ring too loud or too soft at night or on the road etc.
Terrific idea! Sorry I cannot help with development...
Edit: you've got my support with bumps to this thread till the day I die, though
wow!! awesome idea!
(and what'd it take? rec from mic every so many mins and map the decibles ranges to different profiles?)
There's an article (and some sample code) about doing just that at http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/07/10/NoiseDetection/default.aspx
Perhaps it might be a good starting point for somebody?
What about if the phone is in your pocket? Wouldn't the noise of the phone rubbing against your pants seem very loud and therefore set the ring really loud?

I think that would be good actually,I can't hear it well ringing in my pants. Vibrations are a completely different matter

It could be sampling every 30 seconds or so...
I can see another problem: when the phone is in quiet place the volume turns down. What if this quiet place is a pocket of your back pack stored in a quiet cupboard in a loud workplace?
I guess we'll never gonna know unless we can test it in the real.
The example above suggests testing the ambient noise before the phone starts ringing, for say 2 seconds, not constantly, therefore no battery eater.

Yeah, but that would create delays...Unless it would vibrate during those 2 secs (but that would make the testing inaccurate)...Bump as promised
I've just seen this... I'll see if I can do anything with the sample code, but my programming is not brilliant at the moment...

Its not a local setting, its a network setting. Networks like setting it to 10 seconds by default so you can use their expensive voice mail more, but its easy to change (and essential on a WM phone where there's often a ring delay).
You can set it by going
Start>Settings>Phone>Services>Call Forwarding>Get Settings> Forward after X seconds.

Hmmm.. well i'm guessing it's a bit far-fetched.. but is there anything here does helps with the speakers of the X1.. at times, i cant even hear the ring..
I'm new in WinMo and after reading at these threads, i'm juz trying my luck to see whether there's anything that can be done..
Thanks a lot guyz...
Generally, I have no problems with the speaker at all. Only when it's covered, the sound diminishes really fast. Is your speaker by any chance covered? For instance when in your pocket. All you can do is increase your volume with the side buttons, and set it to vibrate + ring.
It's not really covered but it is on my pocket.. and the thing is i work in quite a noisy environment.. so it is a bit hard to hear it sometimes..
yea the sound goes really low when it is covered and only one speaker is there so the sound is very low try using the ring + vibrate mode it may help u little bit and also u can set the option of illumination while ringing.
if i put it in my pocket, i dunno if it is coverd but i can't hear the ring
also, the vibration is so "consistant" that i couldn't feel it.......

Had the same issue with a previous phone
I solved it by wearing a Sony Ericsson BT watch
My watch vibrates (and the tickle is sooo obvious, canĀ“t be mistaken) and tells me who's calling
Maybe a BT watch can help if you work in a noisy environment
