Sound Speaker issue.. - XPERIA X1 General

Hmmm.. well i'm guessing it's a bit far-fetched.. but is there anything here does helps with the speakers of the X1.. at times, i cant even hear the ring..
I'm new in WinMo and after reading at these threads, i'm juz trying my luck to see whether there's anything that can be done..
Thanks a lot guyz...

Generally, I have no problems with the speaker at all. Only when it's covered, the sound diminishes really fast. Is your speaker by any chance covered? For instance when in your pocket. All you can do is increase your volume with the side buttons, and set it to vibrate + ring.

It's not really covered but it is on my pocket.. and the thing is i work in quite a noisy environment.. so it is a bit hard to hear it sometimes..

yea the sound goes really low when it is covered and only one speaker is there so the sound is very low try using the ring + vibrate mode it may help u little bit and also u can set the option of illumination while ringing.

if i put it in my pocket, i dunno if it is coverd but i can't hear the ring
also, the vibration is so "consistant" that i couldn't feel it.......

Had the same issue with a previous phone
I solved it by wearing a Sony Ericsson BT watch
My watch vibrates (and the tickle is sooo obvious, can´t be mistaken) and tells me who's calling
Maybe a BT watch can help if you work in a noisy environment

My Mini S Makes a Buzzing Noise...

hi everyone,
thanks for looking at this, i am a new user and have just have noticed that when you hold the bottom half of the handset where the navigational buttons are to your ear, you can hear a definate buzz. it is a high pitched ring and i can only hear it when it is fully on (not on standby), and it makes the noise in flight mode.
is this normal? isit a fault, should o2 take it in for repair? does anybody know any solutions or causes?
thanks for your help,
thepolice
I've never had a phone that buzzed but friends have had 'em. If I were you and it's under warranty, I'd at least call up, describe the problem and see what the carrier/manufacturer say about it. My friends never had a phone die on them because of it, but it never got better on it's own and it seems to be the display, leaving you nothing you can really do yourself.

This is where the vibrator is located in the MDA (top right corner) maybe it will help. This sounds like a service issue.
I recently read this posts . I have the same problem.
how did you fixed it ? btw, it is definetly the screen making noise, i dismantled the phone and turned it on and the screen was making that noise. It is verry annoying + if you try to overclock the cpu the noise changes frequency.
have a nice day !
ps. sorry if i revive a dead and old topic, but the issue is unsolved.

Haha don't worry about it mate... I took it to the shop and the guy explained that the sound is the frequency of the screen - like your tv. It's nothing to worry about and the sound won't get worse.
i was thinking it had smth to do with the frequency, it;s weard that some phones have that sound and some don;t.

Anyone else find the vibration horribly weak?

I havent actually taken my phone out of the house yet, so I dont have any actual experience with the vibration (having it in my pocket and seeing if i feel anything). But wow, it seems really weak to me.
Usually I can hear my phone vibrate against the table when im at home, but I cant hear anything from the X1 at all.
Do you guys frequently miss texts and calls because of the weak vibration? or is it actually decent and im just crazy?
nope vibration strong.

I find it pretty weak also..along with the horrible speaker position, I too miss texts and calls.
If it wasn't for the vibration i'd be screwed. The ringtones are so low compared to videos/games. I don't understand what's wrong with the ringtones! I'm playing an mp3 and it sounds like 5 times lower volume then when I play it in a media player...what gives?
Is the volume of your ringtone loud? Tend to find most custom ringtones don't have enough amplification.

I bump the volume up of my tones in Audacity
Well, bouth the vibration and speaker is as bad as the w880i. All ringtones that use anything but treble is crap. The vibration is better with pulse vibration. So i use Valert that i found here at xda.

Does it change the SMS vibration as well as the incoming call vibration? I just want the SMS really, I don't mind my calls going to voicemail.
hmm I'm just using a regular mp3, but the thing is if I play it through coreplayer or the media panel it sounds a lot louder then when I have it set to a ringtone. Should I really have to increase the volume of a regular mp3? It's just going to distort it. I think it's mostly the speaker placement as it is easily covered.

I download valert and installed it to my phone. however, i can't find the program in the program list of the phone. Can you tell me how to execute this program or least where do i find/run the program from ?
On first install it puts the EXE in the Autostart folder, you can find it here, but it should be running automatically on every boot.
Weak?
Damn, when my X1 rings I feel like I just bought one of those machines you stand on and it vibrates your whole body for exercise.
The loudness depends on file.
I have one which is TERRIBLY loud.

On to your problem, I have not seen anything wrong with my phone.
can run a test if its only with me or every hav the same problem
Ok go to phone app and press any Number key(it makes a tone) and then right away bring the phone speaker close to your ear for 10 secs and see if u hear any other sound other then the keytone. thanks and let me know the result, thanks a AALLOTTT,

Followed your instructions and "nope" no sound........
Its normal behaviour: turn your volume up all the way, trigger any sound. Then if you have good ears you can hear static at very low volume for about a second. Then the powermanagement cuts power to the amplifier and the phone goes completely silent again.
PS: Same behavior on my desktop PC running Fedora 12. You only hear the static from the soundcard if it suddenly stops ;-)
This is perfectly normal, when the hissing stops, thats the speaker turning off to save power, most other things with speakers do the same thing, it's not worth returning your beautiful Nexus One just for that...
EDIT: sorry, just noticed Volker1's post,
Yeah, I have the same thing, but as others said, it's normal behaviour.
Maybe the amplifier for the speaker is a bit noisier on this phone than some others, hence you can hear it before it gets switched off (might also explain the awful quality of the speaker phone experience)?

Cab to lower the incall volume?

Would anybody please try to make a cab that would somehow lower the incall volume?
I know there are many of us that "hate" our Leo for damaging our ears! Please help us fix that!
Don't point us to HTC support! Have been trying that for about 7 weeks now, with no real result but pathetic fixes.
regards,
GG
First off I will be moving this thread to general when I have finished responding.
Secondly, can you explain your problem a little better please. If you really mean turn the in-call volume down, ie NOT when the phone is in speakerphone mode, you can do this now by simply holding the down volume key while in the call to make it happen.
If this is not what you mean then have another go at explaining yourself.
Cheers
WB
unless i've read this wrong i think you win the worst question of the year award...lol
as above, just turn down the volume.
sorry to but in here and sorry if its a noob question but i've had the same problem...
when i answer a call the volume is so loud everyone around me can hear the call!
now i've tried clicking the side key to lower the volume but it goes to the black screen with the bar and silent and vibrate on there and its only on 6%
I'd want to say (another noob comment) that i have sometimes found the sound is irregular, sometimes its low but normally very loud... isnt there meant to be a function where you place the phone next to you're ear and it lowers the volume so its not damaging you're ears?
I think that question is valid. You can only turn it down so much. All sounds on HD2 are too loud; be it call, music, speakerphone, ringing. You can hear speaker breaking at 50%, and your ears bleeding at more. Distortion is present even at low values.
So, I'm with OP, but I want to expand request: how to lower ALL volume on HD2? In other words, instead 10-100%, I want 1-10%.
maybe i just havent noticed due to being pretty much death
the question should be: how to reduce the default incall vol, is that right?
The earpiece and handsfree produce a lot of noise, I agree. there are a few threads already about volume too high and poor sound quality i.e. distorted audio. with earpiece calls try raising the volume first to just above minimum, then keep lowering the volume even when level indicator has reached minimum to reduce call volume further.
Don't be quick to judfe please!

Maybe I haven't explain myself well enough. Why do you and all the smart asses that gave all that cheap advice think that just because we're not mods or developers we're dumb.
It is a well known problem with the HD2. Even with the volume all the way down (while talking on the phone) it's still very loud!!!! Very Very Loud! And I don't mean that trough speaker phone but through the earpiece!
Does this justify my frustration and my legitimate question?
If you can't say nothing good say nothing at all!
thank you!
I know of those threads!

We do expect more of the senior members here but then again maybe we're wrong in doing so!
why do you assume I don't know how to use the volume buttons?
It's a well known fact that hd2 is very loud while incall and even with the volume all the way down is still too loud!!!
G
its loud indeed,
I and I would be personally intrested in lowering the top volume, so highest settings are more reasonable, and stepping down from that actually make it lower sensibly
I had this issue with the call volume being too loud even when turned down, and sometimes it would distort/crackle with certain words/letters. I used the following registry tweak and it's worked absolutely perfectly for me. I've used it on the old ROM and the latest.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2
See if that helps

I've done that too but that volume is for incall notifications only. You can verify that by having someone call you while you're engaged in a call. You will barely hear them if you turn the volume to "2".
thank for trying though!

[q] in call low volume! Htc hd2 android

I currently have this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904762&highlight=FrankinstineDROIDv1.5
It's flashed through DFT. I have read a lot of threads where people have had too loud in-call volume. But mine is extremely low. When I'm in a room with two people talking to each other, I can't hear the other person. (NO it's not my hearing )
Any suggestions or known fixes? I'd prefer to keep the ROM and just fix the problem. If you are suggesting a fix, could you please also include instructions, or a link to an instructional thread.
Thanks

i have same rom ,,, u can try this ,,, go to setting ,, then click on sound ,,,after that go straight down on feedback section ,,,, uncheck all of them ,,, and restart ur phone ,,, it works on mine ,,, u try too,,, did u have a problem with low speaker volume.... like ringtone or music volume is low ,,, so download the dsp manager from internet ,,,,,,it will increase ur speaker volume
Hey ok so I tried it, but i'll have to test it in a loud environment, and no my speaker and music volume are absolutely fine, it's just the other person's voice during a call... anyways i'll see how it goes! Thanks for the help!

i have the same problem when i answer a call my volume is very low even if i put it on speaker it will still be low..im running coredroid 1.6
1st post!!! i think.
I am having the same problem you guys are having but I think that my phone is only using the speakerphone speaker even when it's set to earpiece speaker. I have tried pretty much every sd rom and i get the same speaker issue. I cant help but think this is a simple setting. I have unchecked the feedback settings but I have not installed dsp manager that nkfrompk suggested because I don't think I need louder volume, I think it is only using the speakerphone speaker.
any help would be awesome. Maybe you guys can check yours to see if it's only using the speakerphone also.
Ok so I disabled all of the feedbacks, even though all except "haptic" were already unchecked. But I haven't noticed any difference.
My phone isn't using the speaker phone, but when I do use the speaker phone the volume is completely fine, the only time I have a problem is while using the phone normally.
If any of you guys figure something out, please share!
thanks

Does it sound to you like the speakerphone is working when the earpiece should be?
I switched phones using the same sd card with android on it and it booted no problem and the speakers work as they should.

Nahh, sorry man, I'm still searching for a fix. The unchecking all feed backs seemed to improve it the slightest bit. Or might have just been a mental thing. But nothing to make the volume a comfortable level.
anyone has a fix?
