International call number recognition - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Is there any software that helps me to recognize any international call number ? Thanx a lot...

I believe that is not a software issue, but an issue with your cell carrier.

i agree; sometimes the names of my contacts appear when they call me; other times from other countries the xda simply says "UNKNOWN". in any case; i guess it's dependent on the carrier service of both parties (???)...
cheers

Thanx a lot !

I work with telecommunication company. I think it is policy that international numbers cannot be display. It blocked international A-number from be display. Like Malaysia, there is only a code display just to mention that is an international call. Not a complete phone no.

Please Help, Caller ID screwy and Need to be fixed on New Ro

Hi, I just upgraded to the new ROM and now whenever I get a call the caller ID decides to include two additional 1's in front of the number. I can understand adding one 1 because I live in the US, but the other one? For example for a 203 area code it will show up 1 (120) 302 9355 1....This is a HUGE problem cause it distorts the whole number and the numbers in my phone book don't match. Please help!!! Is there a registry hack or anything I can do?
It's possibly to do with the US international dialing code being +1. When I was in the US there seemed to be no standard way of specifying international numbers (because the US/Canada don't follow the conventions used in the rest of the world) - when I got a call from an international number, it would sometimes show as +447740123456, or sometimes 011447740123456, or even worse, sometimes 0114477401234 (cutting off the last few digits of the number!) - that was for calls from the UK. This seemed to vary by whatever network I was roaming on.
What I do notice though, normally the caller ID works pretty well regardless what junk shows at the start of the number, as long as the last 8 or 9 digits match it tallys it up with the contact number...
Not sure how you can fix your problem, I expect there is a registry value which sets the phone number format for various places in the world, but I dunno what it is. I'm guessing you upgraded a US-based ROM (T-mob/Cingular?) to a European/ROW ROM (i-mate/qtek?)
Actually no, just updated the ROM to universal English, just keeping it simple. I had no problem with this ever, and its frustrating becuase yes it is an international 1 at the beginning but it screws up the area codes, so therefore the wrong number gets called. Since i use this for business and need to store many of the incomming calls in my phonebook its been the biggest hassle and would appreciate anyone that could help on this matter.
Thanks guys. I have cingular.
By European, I meant a Q-tek/i-mate based ROM as opposed to a Cingular/T-Mobile based ROM. Since the most up to date ROMs are Q-tek and i-mate, I assume you updated to one of these (which aren't targetted at the US market). Hence, WWE or not, there would appear to be some setting for the US phone system and the rest of world phone system.

Hermes not showing name display

My provider, Fido, offers a service where the name of the caller and telephone number show up. It's called name display. Unfortunately, on the hermes, the name does not show up. I only get the telephone number.
I have used another phone with this service and the service works.
I have been through several roms and they all give the same result. Any clues to what could be going on?

I never knew there was this funtionality from the provider......
Always thought there was a conversion on the phone when there comes a call in. Number recognition is we'll known, name send with the provider I have never heard off.....
Hope someone has an answer for you!

"What is Name Display?
It's a unique service exclusively offered by Fido and Rogers that lets you see on your handset display a caller's NAME and phone number from Fido, Rogers Wireless and landline callers across the nation, even if it isn't entered in your phone book. So you'll always know who's calling you. "
dying to find a solution
I have Hermes from Rogers. I have name display and of course stop working after upgrading to WM6.
just to prevent duplication, please read what I've done so far at the following link:

I don't have enought info or experience. Can anybody help? Work together or direction whatever...
This cannot be impossible. I don't think HTC developed a driver only for Rogers.

[Q] Need help: strange block on phone

Hello,
I recently bought a S5 in the netherlands (i live and use the phone in belgium). Started it up, everything works fine. I make one phonecall as required for the regionlock, works fine.
Then something strange happens, after the one phonecall required, i cant accept or make phonecalls anymore.
I get a message "your phone has been locked due to security reasons"
Now the weird thing is, if i use a simcard from another carrier, the phone just works fine, no locking whatsoever...
Called Samsung support, told the story, they tell me phone is region locked and i need to get a code, but the phone never asks me for a code nor can i put one in anywhere.
So i called my provider, they tell me the phone is blacklisted probably but they cant check that...
After some research i found out the phone is actualy from UK with an international firmware on it: G900FXXU1ANG2 (countrycode BTU)
Anyone have an idea how to get rid of this problem?
I dont want to root the phone just yet in case i have to exchange it for another one.
Would it help to get the countryspecific stock firmware installed for my country? (Belgium)
thanks a lot for the help
thale
You'd get better help if you gave us more details, notably verbatim error messages, rather than paraphrasing.
Your provider can certainly tell you if your phone is blacklisted since an IMEI blacklist is under their direct control. So ask them again to clarify that. Region locking is much more likely though. Samsung region locks phones to prevent grey market sales, which is exactly what you've tried to do. The region lock is released after you use the phone a short while with a provider in the original region, which sounds like the UK in your case. Region locking is also a type of blacklist, although that term is almost always used to refer to carrier IMEI blacklisting unless otherwise specified.
As you didn't make any preliminary calls in the UK, nor apparently did the previous owner (or vendor), the phone is now restricted. You could travel to the UK and use your phone there for a day to dissipate the region lock. Or a lot of people claim that a regular SIM unlock code, such as you can buy on Ebay or any number of other places will also remove the region lock (unconfirmed). Or you can root your phone and circumvent the region lock by editing the blocked regions in your customer.xml file.
There are lots of existing threads on this subject, as you would know if had you done a search. Refer to those for further elaboration or you can search my post history as I've posted in detail how to remove the region lock in previous posts.

Thanks for the reply, this forum was my last resort since i didnt understand the problem.
I dont get any error messages at all.
provider A in S5 --> while calling i get the message phone blocked for security reason
provider A in S4 mini --> works perfectly
Provider B in S5 --> works perfectly
so i thought problems lies with faulty simcard, exchanged it but problem stays
when i call samsung they tell me its a provider problem
when i call my provider they say its a phone problem
in europe shouldnt matter realy where you buy your phone since there's free traffic of goods and services. I wonder if the webshop knows they are selling UK phones, ill talk to them about it tomorrow.
thanks again for the reply ill try to get the problem sorted, if that doesnt work at all, i guess ill just root it and fix the problem
kind regards,
thale
Humh, sounds weird.
Use the code *#7465625# (*#SIMLOCK#) to check for the lock status. On some devices this code needs root to launch.

If I understood you correctly, your SIM card works properly in other phones. So your SIM card shouldn't be the issue. If your S5 is SIM unlocked (carrier unlocked), you could try someone else's SIM card in your S5 to rule out less common problems e.g. bent SIM socket.
And regardless, in your place, I'd open a support ticket with your provider. That should cover anything like a IMEI blacklist. All in all though it does sound like region locking. Which is Samsung blocking a phone from being used in a different region unless it has been first activated (i.e. used for a few calls) in the original region first. I wouldn't think that a region lock between two parts of Europe would be intentional, but it is still something to look into.
Without any explicit error messages, it is difficult to narrow down the cause. You might consider installing a logcat app to capture the system log which may have more information about the error.
Also try dialing *#06* and ensure that you have a valid IMEI (not all zeros)
And dial *#0011#. You should see a (IMEI) certificate "Pass"if at the end. If it says IMEI CERTI: FAIL or NA you may have a flash error or IMEI blacklist.

Hello,
phone is an unlocked one, i used 2 different simcards from 2 different providers.
imei certificate passes so thats good!
im gonna make some phonecalls today and keep you all posted

Try to use Provider A with another sim card?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Had another talk with the helpdesk from the provider, they told me the phone is blacklisted but couldnt give me a reason why.
Im only blacklisted with provider A, if u use the phone with another simcard from another provider it works like a charm.
Ive had to send them my proof of purchase, and they will unblock the phone...
Havent had any feedback yet from the shop i bought it from, so maybe they can shine a new light on the whole deal!
Try
How about contacting the retailer? I think you'd better not root the phone or fix it by yourself.

Can't make international calls in Nexus 4 - settings problem?

Hi all,
I noticed a problem in my Nexus 4 - cannot make international calls (I dial the number, and then I immediately receive a "call ended" message without even a dial sound). No problem with local calls. I checked with my mobile provider and international calls provider and I'm open in their systems to dial internationally - so it must be something in the Nexus 4 settings - can anyone help? What should I change in my settings?
Thanks!

Are you on prepaid or postpaid plan? If you are on pripaid, you don't have enough credit to call abroad

Do you have the country code before the number? For example if you want to call to Norway from another country you need do write "+47" or "0047" before the telephone number.
Sure - 00-country code-number
Nobody encountered this problem? Nothing to change in settings?

No, have never encountered that before and can't really think of any reason for your problem either, sorry.
Do you have it activated by your carrier? Most require you to enable international calling. Doesn't cost anything. It's there as a safeguard.
I had a similar issue last week. I travel a few times a year internationally. I'm on AT&T and I purchase a passport plan prior to travelling to Europe.
I traveled to Germany in April. Phone worked fine I could SMS (using stock messaging app in android 5.0.1) and Called my wife's cell by just like I do here in the states.
Last week I was in Denmark. I could SMS my wife (who was in-country with me), but when I tried to call her phone it went to some voicemail and never rang her phone. I tried calling a colleague back in the states with a different area code and that call wouldn't even go through. I SMS messaged people back in the states, travelling in Austria, and travelling in Ireland as I would normally do when sitting at home with success.
There's definitely some goofiness going on. Not sure if it was the local carrier had some issue. But it's strange I could SMS with zero issues but couldn't make a call to the same contacts. Unfortunately, I never tried direct dialing using international codes, so I'm not sure if that would have worked.
As an additional piece of information my wife number is in the following format in my phone's contacts XXXXXXXXXX and the other colleague I tried to call was in (XXX) XXX-XXXX. I've called both in the past from Germany (and likely France) with no issues.
Yes - it's already activated. Thanks. Still don't know what's the problem.

I talked to an AT&T rep yesterday. According to her some towers/networks don't play nice with international phones and require you to manually dial the international code and such to make a call.
So, if you can't make a call like you normally do by going to a contact or something, she said try dialing the number manually with the country code and everything.

Where is the "Caller ID Setting"?

Hey everyone,
my Axon seems to hide my phone number by default when I call other people.
I know that the phone is responsible for this because:
1. others can see my number when I call them with my old phone
and
2. when I put *31# in front of a number to basically override the phones setting the person I'm calling will see that it's me.
I feel like there is no setting to change the caller ID option in my Axon. At least it's not where it normally is (Call Settings, Additional Settings).
Does anyone have a similar problem or even better, a solution?
I asked about this on ZTE`s forum and never received a reply.
Okay, that's interesting.
I wonder why no one in the Axon 7 section talks about this issue. There should be more people with the same problem.
This is generally a carrier setting problem not a phone problem.
For T- Mobile not sure about ATT.
*67DN Activate Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) for outgoing call
*82DN Deactivate Activate Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) for outgoing call
In this case I know that it is not a carrier problem because I've tested it.
It might be worth mentioning that I own the European model and that I live in Germany.
Same for me, Europen Version and I live in Germany. Provider is O2. Switched from my HTC M8 to the Axon 7, had no hidden caller ID whatsoever on the M8.
Kind of annoying and I can't find anything to switch it off.
Anyone else has the same problem?

I live in France and my provider is Free Mobile.
The caller ID works for me.
My Axon 7 is a 2017G model with B05 firmware.
I've got news:
After dialing the gsm code #31# the phone is no longer automatically hiding my number. The strange thing is that this code is supposed to do something completely different: hide the number for the next call.
This still works after restarting the phone but after updating the software (bo5 to b06) I had to dial the code again which means that this method is only a temporary fix and this is something the ZTE devs have to look into.
Same here in Spain
I suscribe all your comments ace.infinity.
I'm in Spain, my carrier is Oceans. I'm in last build and with code *31# my name appears, I have to use it in all calls to be visible.
No solution found by the moment.

It is the phone setting itself that is now hidden from thre user menu that is actually hiding the number!
I was able to modify my caller ID setting by opening the phone app > menu> setting > call setting> SIM 1 or 2> additional setting.
