Screen turn off when call answered. - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I may be imagining this but before I had to hard reset I'm sure that when I had answered a call the screen would blank. NOw it doesn't do this and I can't find where to set this.
Any ideas?

What about the backlight timer features of your ppc?
Setting -> system -> backlight -> on batt power/external power -> (tick the option) turn off backlight if device is not used for ... minutes.

Thanks, I know that one. My recollection is that the screen woulkd blank as soon as I answered a call.
Maybe I imagined it!

Happens to me after a soft reset, then sleep. The wakeup has the backlight switched off.
My work around is to go into backlight settings immediately after a soft reset, change to a different level, then change back to the required one. After that it will wake up with the correct setting. Bit of a faff I know but thats M$ for you!

Here is one solution:
http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/ppcstuff.htm
Scroll down to the backlight timeout fix.
Or use a registry editor and set the value
LockLevel
beyond the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel
back to zero.
Or if you use phoneAlarm you may also use the newest version of my NetManager
http://www.pocketmax.net/smf/index.php?topic=2650.0
the timeout bugfix is included in this release.
regards,
Silvio

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!
This bug just started happening to me and I KNEW it was related to the phone lock (because it didn't start until I was playing around with the lock settings) but couldn't figure out how to fix it.
Whew... that was driving me absolutely nuts.

Me too. Thanks Guys
HTC Cruise backlight
Hey
i had the same problem (i guess) in addition to that the level of backlight used to decrease to the basic level after hanging up a call. However when i re-adjusted it, the level indicator is exactly where i left it! and once i touch it (not move it) it "remembers" the current level! but still darkens after hanging up calls or coming up from a sleep period.
the solution was :
after a soft reset, adjust the level you want then immediately lock your device and let it turn off the screen by itself. when it wakes up everything will be stable.

HD 'forgets' screen turn-off setting

I've checked the box in alimentation menu, to turn-off the screen after 1 minute of inactivity and to decrease light of the screen after 10 sec. but if I reset the phone cause some new installation requires, the HD forget to go in standby mode and let with ligh decreased...why?!?!?!
has it happen to anyone other?
what can I do?

So the only way to go to sleep is to press the power off button? This might drain the battery if you forget to do that. What if the device is waken up when there is a new email? It won't go back to sleep after that?

You are not the only one who has noticed this.
Obviously there's a registry hack to alter the settings but you would still have the same problem albeit with different settings.

Backlight Issue

I have recently had to hard reset my phone and for some reason the backlight only stays on for a matter of seconds. Can someone point me in the right direction of increasing this please. I do have Xperia Tweak installed and can't see the setting on that either.
Cheers
Try settings, system, power, advanced and then change the time out for backlight there...
remove HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\ACTimeout & BatteryTimeout
Soft Reset

I have tried this, but there is no save or apply button so when I check back it has returned to 10 seconds...

No This remove your 10secs problem... After restart enter in your backlight settings & set correct values.

hmm thats odd as when I change the setting and then tap ok in the top right corner it saves it for me and retains the setting no problem...
I think it has managed to save the settings now... Cheers

[Q]How can I stop the phone going into standby while running iGo8?

When I run iGo8 and don't touch the screen for a minute, it seems the device acts as if it was inactive and goes into standby, then I have to turn it back on, unlock the screen and so on..
The only thing I can do right now is to turn off the power management options before launching iGo8 and putting them back on after I finished using it, but there has to be an easier way..
Can anyone help me with this please?
Thanks in advance!
hi!
start igo...--->settings--->more(little arrow on the right bottom side)--->device
there u can switch the power settings.
before u have to switch your general settings form normal to expert.
i use "always on" but then u might have an other issue...try to search for a street, your "a key" might gotta stuck.
you can fix that problem too...just search the forum.
Nevermind, I think it's solved now..
I guess I just had to post the question to be able to find the answer myself
For those who might have the same problem : there is an option for Power management, it was set on "Use Device Settings" instead of "Backlight always on"
I looked in the sys.txt and in every other option but missed that one

Thanks for the quick answer
I had the problem with the aaaa key yesterday but solved it thanks to this forum, so I guess my backlight was on "always on" yesterday?
I don't remember changing that one...
indeed, you have to set the backlight feature inside IGO to "Always On". but then there's another problem - IGO overrides the general backlight settings in Windows Mobile (which I set to more than 40% constant, without the automatic adjustment). I didn't manage to make IGO to not synchronize with the OS backlight settings (tried to add the line "backlight_sync_with_OS=0") but it's a no go.
Each time I launch IGO, it will limit my general backlight settings to 40% for both battery and external power.

It seems it did the same thing for me, except that "Automatically adjust backlight" is still activated, so the 40% Backlight adjustment shouldn't be taken into account.
Is it deactivated for you?
I deactivated the automatic adjustment in order to save some battery, and instead I've set my backlight to 50% while on battery, and 80% while using external power (in my car). I think that there's no known solution for this.

[Q] My display is not turning off when I'm talking

Hi all, for a couple days my display is not going off when I'm talking. i tried to get the battery off, then put it back and I had this - my display was going off the second I press the call button, than the only way to switch it on was to press power button...after 2-3 times it got the same - doesn't go off when talking. Stock rom (2.3.4)
This may sound weird, but have you checked your Display Settings? Go to: Settings>Display>Screen timeout
Make sure that "Never timeout" is not selected. That could help....?

It is not turned on, it set for 15 secs.
Are you rooted? One thing to try would be a factory reset.
It got fixed somehow, by itsself ...
