To anyone working or is affiliated with both sites; I mean no offense. To my fellow xda-ers; this serves as a reminder and a warning as to how unprofessional people running websites can be. Here's what happened:
August 23, 2004 (Monday)
– I purchased software (Pocket Tablet) from Pocket Gear, I then received the electronic receipt
–As per my previous transactions; Standard Operating Procedure is after you receive the electronic receipt you will receive another email with the Registration Code
–Normally the email with the Registration Code follows no later than 24 hours
August 24, 2004 (Tuesday)
-No emails were sent regarding the registration code
-I sent an email requesting for the Registration Code to be sent
-No response from either Pocket Gear or Entisoft
August 25, 2004 (Wednesday)
-No emails were sent regarding the registration code
-I sent an email requesting for the Registration Code to be sent
-No response from either Pocket Gear or Entisoft (Pocket Tablet Developer)
August 26, 2004 (Thursday)
-I received an email from Mr. Callie (Entisoft) and he said that he did not receive any sales verification from Pocket Gear (where I bought the software)
-He also said to simply get my money back and buy it from another website and I quote: "I have not received a sales verification from Pocket Gear. Ask for you money back and buy it from Handango."
August 27, 2004 (Friday)
-Received an email from the online Pocket Gear support message I sent last August 24; saying that if I still did not receive any reply from the developer I would be refunded
-Received another email from Pocket Gear saying that the developer has been contacted and that the Registration Code will be sent
-Still no emails from the Developer regarding my Registration Code
With that; I'm working with our AMEX Customer Service here in Thailand to have the transaction cancelled (had to send 8 kinds of documents!). I don't really know about your experiences with Pocket Gear but for me I have officially stopped browsing their site. Again, no offense meant to anyone affiliated with either websites and to the others please be warned accordingly as to what you may go through in the future.

Kinda makes ya want to go warez! Git r dun!
I've had the same experience with Handango. So far I greatly prefer Pocket Gear.
ISSUE RESOLVED
Whew, after more than a week dwelling on this issue Pocket Gear finally resolved the mess. Thanks to this guy:
Matt Stein
PocketGear.com
http://www.pocketgear.com
He's possibly one of the best online support techie / customer relations person. He was kind enough to follow up and sort the whole mess with the Entisoft developer site (Pocket Tablet). Finally have my registration code and controlling my desktop via bluetooth! Pass the pint!
Cheers mates

For push email, looks like I'll be using one of the exchange hostsing services:
1&1
Option 1: 69p/mth for "Instant Email"
"1&1 Instant Mail gives you 5 dedicated POP3/IMAP e-mail accounts to create [email protected]. Send and receive e-mail from any Internet - connected computer."
Option 2: £5.99/mth for "Microsoft Exchange"
"Experience the benefits of seamless communication and collaboration with Microsoft Exchange. Use Outlook to send and receive e-mail from any Internet-connected computer."
4SmartPhone.Net
Option 1: $3.99 for "Express"
Includes Push Email, Wireless Sync, OWA: Outlook Web Access
Option 2: $6.99 for "Professional"
As above plus Outlook 2003 support, Sharing of email, contacts, calendar and tasks
Mail2Web
Option 1: FREE - Pop3, IMAP4 or SMTP not supported (huh???)
Option 2: $1.99 for "Personal Exchange"
"With our Enhanced Email plan, based on Microsoft Exchange, you are never far from your email, contact, schedule and other personal information. It’s all available from either your desktop, the web, as well as any Windows-powered mobile devices as Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition and Microsoft Windows®-powered Smartphones. Get information as it arrives where ever you may be.
Microsoft Exchange is much more than an email solution - it's a complete messaging solution that goes way beyond email to provide calendars, task management, contact lists, advanced rules for sorting your messages and much more.
Previously this solution was only available to businesses but we have developed a special version with the individual in mind. Now you can get your own Personal Exchange account on the mail2web.com domain."
OK, now I'm confused...
What exactly does everyone else use, and how much does it cost, what option and what does it give you?
looks like very attractive services, wonder if anyone has had a few months using these services, and can comment on the reliability etc.
Always a bit weary of hosted services, had dropped emails from hosted services in the past!
I was going to go with 1&1 however, it seems to me as though I have to pay for six months up front.

I've went for the $6.99 a month (but a year upfront after the fifteen day trial) 4smartphone.net service. So far, so excellent!
Does it include the Universal client or are you using a new ROM?
There isn't a client as such as the functionality is already built into ALL of the Roms.
The main difference is the existing ROMs may not have the push functionality that a lot of people are waiting for.
I used smartphone during the trial on my original O2 ROM, this meant an SMS being sent to my device everytime I got a new message, however once I got hold of a ROM with push technology, I tested it with an Exchange Beta and it just worked out of the box - I suspect the same will be the case for 4smartphone.

Also, I was downloading an outlook profile to I can use my outlook fully synced as well as OWA, and there was a problem which stopped me getting into my outlook at all!
I emailed them, and they replied with a full solution within 20 minutes. On a Sunday!
I tend to judge a company by how they handle things like this - any company is good when things work, but when things go wrong it's good to know you'll not be left up the creek without a paddle.
Top marks. Will definitely be buying the years service after the 15 day trial.
I'm just applying for it now.
Did you say that you worked for o2?

Yup, in Business Sales. I've to give a training session in Data tomorrow - group shared tariffs, personal tariffs, GPRS/3G/Wifi, BlackBerry vs. XDA, Email vs. Push Email, that kinda thing. Having done all this at the weekend will help me - otherwise I'd be telling them to tell our customers that if they want Push Email on the XDA IQ, they'd have to invest in Server 2003, Exchange etc etc.... at least this way, you do without all those capital costs and do it for just £4 per month to 4smartphone.net, plus minor data costs. Although I'd not recommend the process to normal humans.
How do you set it up on the phone agan?

You only get the Direct Push Email button option in the xconnections manager once you set up your activesync properly, and manual instructions for this are on their web page quite good ones I may add. I could foolow them!
Free exchange mail service for your pocket pc with Outlook Web Access
I run an exchange server and I am welcoming pocketpc users that are in need of an exchange account to activesync with. This service also offers Direct Push for those of you that have have this on your PocketPC. As well as the ability to sync all of your contacts, calander events, and task wirelessly onto your Outlook desktop instantly.
Its totally free and has outlook web access, to sign-up simply point your browser to http://www.port88.org/signup.php, enter your desired account information and I will have your account ready within 24hrs. I even provide documentation on how to setup your wizard or other pocketpc device.
NOTICE: Lots of users have been asking if they can have an alias setup so that it looks like they are sending from thier personal email address (ie gmail, hotmail, yahoo ect..) and the answers is YES! With each account you can have an alias setup so that your recipents see your email address as anything you like! In order to keep this service alive, it is asked that you donate $15.00 USD in order to use this Email Alias service.
If you have/are signing up, it can take up to 48 hours for me to get your account activated. Please make sure to check your junk-mailbox for a confirmation email and then a activation notice! A lot of people are signing up and not activating thier accounts, if you do not activate it with in 3 days it will get deleted, so make sure to check your junk/bulk mail folders so you do not miss the notice of activation which contains your user information.
If you are intrested in other services or want more information, check out http://www.port88.org
This is something I do in my spare time for fun, so it may take me 48 hours before I get you set up. But being a Wizard/MDA user myself, I have found this to be a great tool.
Obviously all this cost money, and lots of it. I have had a few people donate to the cause which has been a great help. But some users ask me for special features that I normally would not offer to a basic user. Well the solution is simple, if more people donate (even a small ammount) I will be able to upgrade the server with more space and better processing power, and in turn more services will be free for everyone to use.
So if you like the service and feel that you can contribute, please send paypal payments to [email protected]
If you think you can donate in other ways (I currently looking for a forum site to be set up), please send me an email!
Keep our community growing, join today!
AK
PS - This time around it's a no nonsence approach that I am taking, so please do not waste my time. Additionally if you find that my emails are short in response, please know that I am not trying to be an ass, I just have a lot on my plate.
REGISTRATION ARE BACK OPEN - June 1st, 2007
awww how sweet!

Austindkelly,
Thanks for the offer ! How does your service differ from Mail2Web live then ?
I might be interested ...

Don't fall on this!!! Never give personal information over the internet.
 Everyone must be smart enough to notice that this a trap!!
First of all this is totally legit, I do this in my spare time so it might take me a day or so to respond. If you send me an email about signing up, please include the username you would like. If you feel unsafe about sending your 'personal information' dont send me an email, as I will need your Name and a prefered username to sign you up, if you think this is too reveling, do not sign up for anything, or send an email, or use the internet in general. And please do not complain if it takes me more than a few hours to respond, this is free, so chill!

I am guessing that you are one of those hyper sensative people who don't like having your ssn on your driver's license either? Seriously get a grip and check out his website.
By the way...awesome service.. He sends out emails when the server is going down and gives alot more Customer Support then one of these other free places I am sure.
thank you!
Speaking of which Austin...can i get my login info again Being the dummy i am I never wrote down my password and reflashed my phone :-D sorry to be such a pain.
I want to retract from what i said Austin is providing an excelent service.
PROVEN!
Sorry, Austin
it's been a few days, just checking to make sure you didn't need anymore information from me to get set up.
Thanks,
Zak Deutsch
i'd be more concerned with my private and business emails being handled and stored on an unknown server.. but if you guys use your mail for fun, jump on this offer!
i sent the email a few days ago and havent recieved anything. am i doing something wrong Austin?? Should i resend??
Not trying to disrespect but what is the difference between this service and mail2web.com??
Okay guys, If you sent me an email I prob did get it! but the odds are that when i replied it got sent to your junkmail (I know yahoo does this) so check there, if you have not recieved anything from me, shoot me an instant message on here, and we can do it that way!
If you have concerns about privacy or hosting information on unknown servers, you should never, ever, ever use the internet again! even google stores the searches you make on some unknown server, and have you ever actually seen a server that host your email ? prob not. But just to reassure all of you skeptics, my server uses 128bit encryption and runs out of Richmond Virginia in a small office building.
As for whats the difference between this and mail2web, well Im assuming that you are using mail2web if you are asking this, so i will just tell you of the additional features:
1) direct push email support
2) sync with outlook web access
3) sync all contacts, events, tasks and email automatically
4) email alias addresses
there is more, but those are the main reasons that i set it up.
I have over a hundred people signed up and still going strong, so if you are intrested, registration is still open so shoot an email to [email protected] and dont forget to check out www.port88.org for more information.

I thought Mail2Web Live supported Push Email? :?:
..... being an Exchange Admin myself, exchange has been setup in my corp so that admins can read everyone's emails if need be... not that i do
Just hope you lot know this when using this service....
Hi! I Would like to use push email service for my personal email account but i dont have an exchange server neither i can afford one...are there any free push email service providers or even paid would do, but i want real time push email, not the one which requires client to b installed on pocket pc..please help..i have wm5 on jasjar..
there are tons of posts about push email. your question is too vague to answer. please search and ask a more specific question. yes there are free push email services. i don't know what they are.
Try:
http://www.seven.com/products/consumers/index.html
i was a smartner duality customer for a while before seven bought them on both a wm2003se and a smartphone. then company stuck me with a blackberry and i used it for a while. when i got sick of it i tried to get the seven version of the smartner software they distribute. well, i am an exchange user with a large exchange installation and no IT support for one off configurations like mine. when i went through seven CS they were rather slow but knowledgeable, too knowledgeable it seemed they were asking for stuff i had no idea what it was. anyway the seven software couldn't access my global adress list. and the problem never was resolved. since then we found BB connect SW for WM5 and it works so i get to use my company BB pushmail account on my uni with email and calendar. i don't know if the seven consumer stuff works but the enterprise didn't for me. and customer service is slow to respond to single users (why all the email redirector comanies dissapeared, too much support for too little money).

you can try web2mail.com
Hi All,
I have been in a running battle with Google/LG/TNT for 3 weeks now, I'm hoping XDA can save my sanity.
Has anyone in the UK returned a Nexus 4 recently.. If so do you have a copy of the address it was sent too.
Basically I got a replacement (for a phone which has a software fault that google insisted they needed to replace even though im 100% sure its a software problem), and they sent out a TNT bag and prefilled consignment slip.
Unfortunately the Slip is overprinted and you cant read any of the details like the account number/to address.
I emailed google to ask for the account number (as they only provided me an RMA number which they assured me TNT could process) and they again provided the RMA number which TNT again said they cant use without an account number.
After much back and forth they have sent me an Account Number (in response to an email requesting the address), but no address.
So I go back to google for the 15th time, and they tell me TNT have the address.. which of course TNT dont.
I ask TNT and they confirm they dont (which makes sense - you would imagine Google would know its own returrns address)
So instead I try calling them and get a very helpful american, who has trouble figuring out the product I am trying to return.. I admit it must be confusing when you only sell 3 products.. who then cant get the address, but promises to email me a RMA form which will have the address on it.
Instead (and directly contradicting what I was just told) he emails me a canned reply saying it has been escalated (TNT are booked to pick it up tomorrow by this point as they only need the address when they call for it not on the phone)
So.. I go back by email.. and get no response.
I'm honestly considering just writing Google/LG on it and giving it to TNT.. It appears Google dont know thier own returns address.
Please can anyone provide me the address
Thanks,
Sam
Mine went back to somewhere in Poland, I'll have a look when I get home if I remember (doing a 14 hour shift today!)
