URGENT: WHICH CASE FITS XDA2 + WIFI/256MB SD CARD INSTALLED? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

dear all
i want to purchase the sandisk wifi+256mb combo sd card but my xda2 case will not accomodate the extra length of the wifi/memory sd card.. is there a case that's designed to accomodate the extra length of this card?
please advise!!
Thanks
Hawk

Ehm
Don't buy the combo card.... it isn't compatible with the MDA II, and is doesn't work.......

And if you buy the Wi-Fi only card...
The proporta Alu case works with the card inserted, but it gives you worst reception
I have read on this forum about alu cases evolution with windows that lets you see who is calling... I would go for those...
Regards,
Chris

hey chris..thanks
it's good i read about the incompatiblity of the wifi combo card with xda 2.. so i don't buy it..
i'l go forthe wifi only card.. ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS FOR LEATHER CASES that can fit the extra length, i don't like aluminum cases..!!
thanks..
hawk

the new plastic case have a hole on the top of it
but of cause it will not protect the card from breaking that way

Check out the pictures I posted right at the end of the following thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=10078&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
This case does not offer additional protection to the card while inserted but at least allows you to carry the card with you where ever you go.

Dual Sim Card

Hi
Just installed a Dual sim card in my XDA2.
I bought a "King of Double card" the other day and it seems to be working fine.
I can jump between sim cards by turning the flight mode on and off
I would like to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with these type of cards?
Hope there is no long-term damage... :!:
Hi Frogger,
I have had the same dual sim card for some months now. All is great. No problems at all.
Have fun.
Frogger / Quenmzar: What 'model' of 'king of double card' dual sim is it you ordered.
On ebay there are about two sellers of 'king of double card'. The quality of those dual sim adapters is good, but one need to specify the 'model'.
(and XDAII/MDAII/iMate/Qtek 2020 is not listed).
Until now I did not get any useable feedback from the sellers other than buying a ghost-adapter for which you will have to cut sim's (which is something I do not want to do.
I can't see where there is any room to fit these in an XDAII? How do you manage to squeeze it in?
This is the dual SIM I actually bought. If you put it UNDER the battery it fits ok. Bit of a squeeze but works just fine.

i did a reveiw of dual simcards here

Jim
I know of the mobileplace.co.uk dual sim. It costs GBP 10
The king of double card costs around USD 6
Now you know my motivation to find out the type of 'king of double card' I need . . . .
Dual sim on XDA2
This is how the Dual sim card is installed on my XDA2
Dual SIM Card
I recently purchased the dual sim card holder from mobileplace.co.uk for GBP12. They shipped me the king of double card, so I suppose the difference in price between ebay and mobileplace.co.uk is the very fast and good service I got from mobileplace.co.uk. However, after a few weeks my XDAII started to run slowly and then the other night went dead. A hard reset fixed the problem but I suspect it had something to do with the adaptor. Also each time I would take the back cover off the unit, even with the main battery still in, it does a hard reset. I don't know if other people experience. I really did enjoy using the adaptor but have taken it out for now
Hi, i've been looking for this here in the Philippines but I couldn't find one that is for XDA II. Are there really ones made for XDA II or you're just using the one from other phone models? I tried using the Dual SIM (King of double card) for nokia but it doesn't work, it won't detect the SIM and the cover cant even b closed although the SIM slot fits fine.
I bought one off eBay at the beginning of October. The model is described as
6220/6310i/7250/8310/T230/T68i DUAL SIM CARD

I had to tell them what device it was for and I told them XDA II.
It works fine - no problems yet.
I installed it much the same way as seen in the picture in frogger's post above. It's a bit tricky - I needed to feed the flat cable in front of the battery, avoiding the battery connector, then, with the SIMS installed, bend it down flat on top of the battery. Its a bit of a squeeze to get the back cover on, but it will go.
I've got a similar one. The ribbon cable is actually quite strong. I made a 45 degree crease so that the ribbon bends through 90 degrees and folds over the top of the battery ( ithink thats what is pictured above). Only downside is that the rear case needs to flex a bit, and doesn't quite fit flush at the top, allowing some dust in.
I've got 1 sim card with 2 lines. What I have to do is different. I have to go to programs/ sim tool kit/ my lines/ switch lines.
Is there any software around that would give me the same functionality as you guys have? just turning the flight mode on and off? Is there any program that creates macros for this particular function at the press of a button?
Qtek9090 and Dual Sim
Does anyone know whether there is a Dual Sim card for the Qtek 9090.
Cookiem
It will be just a case of trying.
Can you post a picture of the location of the SIM slot location in the battery compartment of the 9090?
Maybe I can give you some advice then.
Personally I prefer the King of Double card dual sim adapters by saintjoy_03 on eBay: cheap, quick, reliable. But you have to specify the correct model as they dont know the HTC devices.
i use this one for some time now
but not for the faintharted cause your sim card has to chopped
anyways nowadays they got 16 in one and so on sim adaptors.
ah well still, searching for a way to use them both at the same time!
tip anyone ?
oh yeah addition: you do get some sort of adaptor in which you can place your downsized simcard. so it can be used in seperately if needed...

I have the stupidest problem in the world...

hope someone out there can help me out, i've searched for 2 days and i can't find the answer.
my XDA2 seems to only be able to read SDcards WHEN THEY'RE LOCKED. unlock, no card shows up. which means right now i'm writing to my cards with a USB adaptor, blindingly unecessary. cant detect it with pocketmechanic either.
i just got the XDA2 from a friend who apparently didnt use the SD card, so i thot it was an OS problem. so i installed 2003se. no go.
tried cards on other machines and other cards on my machine - my machine seems to be the problem.
does anyone know if there's a piece of hardware INSIDE the XDA2 that could cause this?
pls help
jo
some cards are incompatible with the device
try a search in the forum people report that sd cards made in china are less compatible with xda's then ones from japan and us
searched the forum, but i dont think those problems refer to me... i have 3 cards - a 256 Lexar, a 128 Toshiba and a 128 Sandisk. none of them work on my XDA2, all of them worked on my XDA1 and my uncle's XDAmini
I had the same problem where cards that worked on xda 1 wouldnt work on xda 2, but you say they will work if the lock latch is engaged, is that true for all the cards?
yup, true for ALL the cards. sigh, and i thot i was rid of my XDA1 (which popped up a dialog box saying "unrecognized memory card" EVERYTIME i switched it on when there was NO SD card in the slot)
I would hazard a guess and say that the problem lies with the little metal bit decides if a card is locked. I noticed that sd cards without the lock tab have a solid construction, no indentations on the edge. Why not try a piece of tape over the gap on the edge where the switch resides on the card. Make sure it is strong enough to hold back the little metal tag that is inside the phone. This may or may not work.

Putting Full Size SD into Wizard

is it possible to put Fullsize SD card into a miniSD slot ??
what i mean is something like a card reader, but the connecter interface in a miniSD pin out but not a USB.
and the shape of the card reader is in "U" shape, then we can use 2GB FULL Size SD with the Wizard!!!!
did you hear about the sonyericsson P800 MS JACKET ??? it help to put Full size Memory Stick with P800's MS DUO slot!!!!
hope there also one for miniSD
The p800 jacket made the phone almost twice as big and ugly. I will wait for a 2g mini-sd.

The p800 jacket was big because the Ful Size MS is large, but not SD, i think a PIC will explain more, see if i can make one and upload later.
hope someone understand me.
nice drawings
Looks nice..
I sure hope that smth like this will be available in stores !
It really sucks that no normal sd's can be inserted, i have 8 sd's, from 256Mb - 2Gb, and really dont want to buy all of this again..
TECIC in Taiwan now selling thier 2GB miniSD for TWD4800

XDA II mini Can't support 1GB SD?

my XDA II mini can't read 1gb sd card, but i tried 256 sd, works fine, can any one help me bout this?
mine works fine with a kingston 2gb SD...it must be a model problem...
i wonder why, cause i use this 1GB on my XDA II, but in my XDA II mini, it says Format to be readable, i try to format but can't read, i put 256 SD, works fine. i try the 1gb back to Hima XDA II, works fine...
I had that problem with a 1gb sd card that i bought...i had to replace it with another one (also 1 gb)...some sd cards aren't compatible with our magician, specially those cheap ones..hehe
See if you can exchange it for a different (and better) one.
Keeper
but the SD card is okey in my XDA II but not okey in my mini, i try 1gb mmc, it works! i guess this is only a little problem, hehehehhe... i'll buy an mmc, not an SD.
Try:
1. Taking the label off the SD Card
2. Loosening the screws that hold the antenna onto the unit
Some Magicians have an odd problem where if there is too much pressure put on the card reader's contacts, the card will refuse to read properly. MMCs will still read properly as they are thinner than SD cards, however some SDs may not read as they are slightly too thick - hence removing the label may help. Failing that, loosening the antenna screws (the antenna is located underneath the plastic panel of your device) will relieve some pressure and perhaps get the SD card to work - worked for me when I was trying to get a 4GB SD to read!

[Q] What's in the box?

I've searched the internet, wiki & this forum but I can't seem to find what comes in the box. My old blackstone came with an 8 gig card, little crappy sued pouch, USB cable, stylus.... I think that's about it. Thinking about waiting on the Telstra version for the US 3G capability. Thanks in advance.
P.S. - Is it SIM free or can it take a SIM card?
search ebay...they tell you what is in the box...generally speaking the extra items that the seller offer are reffered to bonus items.
it does take sim card
I appreciate your help, but it was unsuccessful. I'm not interested in the "extra crap" that people give you when you buy one. Most of the specs listed on ebay are copied from HTC's website, which doesn't list what's included in the box. I guess my question is if I went to a retailer, saw the box for the Leo & bought it, what's inside the cellophane (other than the slide cover for the box & the box itself)? What size is the memory card, belt clip/pouch, screen protector, little black sticker that nobody knows what it's for, both UK & US wall adapters, screen-cleaning cloth, little black pouch, etc.........
Thanks
The India version of HD2 comes with :
8Gb MicroSD Card
Pouch
USB Cable
Headset
Charging Adapter
The UK version I got contained:
-The phone (duh)
-A USB-microUSB cable
-A charging USB adapter (Came with the UK plug)
-Headset
-A 2GB microSD card
-A (very) small user manual and the guarantee
-The battery
-A leather pouch
The HD2 has a SIM slot and a MicroSD/HC card slot; removing the battery is required to change the SIM card, but not the MicroSD card.
