Hello boys, girls, and friendly animals.
I installed MIUI.US yesterday and noticed the same thing that's always bothered me from non-stock or non-CM ROMs: there's no way to use the phone's Quick Keys (other than setting them to work like, say, a Back button using ButtonRemapper).
One of the things I use the most from the stock ROM is the shortcut to send an SMS to a contact. I've found that without this, ROMs eventually annoy me.
Is there any way to go about and making these work? I tried installing UserKeysTool.apk (com.tmobile.userkeystool) from a stock ROM (s14mc's 1.6 Slim) to no avail; the app simply crashes upon opening it, which means I'm missing some other file I'm not aware of.
Any help would be appreciated here.

The Oppo Find 5 is now officially supported by the PA-team, so our Oppo Find 5 will be succesfull! Now our Oppo Find 5 will get hopefully more support from other devs.
So my question is: Do you like Paranoid Android for the Oppo Find 5?
Leave a comment below!
It's pretty damn good IMO. Granted, it's in the beginning stages but I'm actually going to use it for my daily and see how it goes. I know Aaron said the camera doesn't work currently but not a deal breaker for me as I don't take a lot of pics. It's taking a little getting used to being that the OPPO has the buttons at the bottom so even if you have PIE enabled, the bottom buttons still function. The new Halo feature seems to be working pretty well so that's a plus.
All in all though, I'm pretty stoked to say the least.
Yes please
Haven't tried it out yet, I'll hop on it when they fix the camera and Halo is released as Beta.
Currently using the latest Firefly build, which is actually quite nice if you ask me...
Yea I'm going to make a thread when I get home today, I can add the option to disable the soft keys. The hybrid properties in there are something I did quickly. I can set up better defaults. I know where the camera is broken but don't have time to fix it till late next week

First off, thanks! I was just wondering if there will be a way to disable the hard keys? I know in the stock Oppo rom you can at least disable the backlighting of the keys? I came from a Nexus 4 and would love to be able to "disable" the hardware keys and just use pie.

Nice dude. Will give it a run once camera runs to test out the smoothness and battery life compared to nightly cm10.1

My F5 is in transit and all the options for this phone make me coocoo for cocoa puffs. I cant wait!
Paranoid Android is def my favorite rom Paranoid Android is going to be sick on the OF5 and yes you can just use the keys and keep the entire screen, like HTC Roms. CM10.1 or whatever new build they have out is always great also. The more roms the better, Oppo needs to get this phone out in all countries that would bring in more devs and even if they lowered the price, the price is already low for an a device that has everything already unlocked out of the box. And a company that inspires this type of freedom with your device. Oppo is almost like do what you want its yours you paid for it, attitude! Thats what I like.
I like it but..
I will get difficulty choosing between CM-bare, PA and AOKP. Thhere's also the PAC-rom that is announced today.
I think I will stick with the CM untill PA has the camera fixed.
Definitly trying this!!
Loving PA on my Find 5, my only request is they implement this ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcq_p6Gjwl8
BTW for those that want to manually disable the capacitive keys and led lights here is what you need to do.
To turn of capacitive button lights:
Go to system/lib/hw
There find lights.find5.so
Rename it to "lights" or anything.
Reboot.
To restore just rename it to lights.pico.so again and reboot.
To turn off capacitive buttons:
Go to system/usr/key layout/synaptics-rmi-ts.kl
Long press it and click open with text editor
Delete everything there
Reboot.
To restore , restore the backup of the file which is automatically created

LOVE it, but there is no camera and some force close bugs.

Does it change screen colours like PA does on the Nexus 4?
I've been running ReVolt, which has PA and some other stuff. It's been a very nice ROM thus far with no major issues.
Camera works for pictures (haven't confirmed image quality yet). Video works but the quality is bad. Gonna hop over and post on that and see if Johny can lend a hand there.

I'd also like to know that..My Find has a yellowish white and a little washed out colours compared to my halfbreed Nexus 4..
perfect for me
This is my favourite ROM from all that I have tried and probably because I find the flexibility of changing app dpi the most SIMPLE UI is a winner
It is perfect when combined with xposed framework and just grabbing modules to enhance the experience
fantastic rom and kudos for all those working on modules to make life simple when it comes to customising
I have stock, up-to-date Android 4.2.2.
I am trying to figure out why use CM10.1 or any other custom ROM over up-to-date stock Android Rom.
Well, for me I use stock and faux kernel @1.9ghz and I'm fine with it
Custom Roms add more features thou, I used to run aokp on my n7 but I prefer stock
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.944 GHz on Stock 4.2.2
Mainly for the customization, and certain features not found in stock roms.
It's an user preference really.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
thank you for the responses.
Like the idea of faux kernel with Stock rom.
Also for some more optimization, and little fixes of things that Google f**ked up in their stock Android

Here are the main features that are interesting to me:
- Built-in notification light control
- SMS bonus features (quick reply, original timestamps, etc)
- Volume rocker wake
- Navring (2 other shortcuts besides google now)
- Their cLock widget is nice
- Editable toggles / quick settings + quick pulldown (pulldown from right goes directly into toggles) LOVE IT
- Torch built in..
Downsides:
- The slide up animation of google now is not as smooth and sexy
- Old calendar app (WHY U NO REMOVE IT, it's on the play store!!) though it's practically the same

The source for the Play version isn't open though, so they build from the source that is available (i.e. the current CM calendar) and I their ultimate goal is to include what you need to operate a smart phone without absolutely requiring the addition of Gapps; although 99.999% of people ultimately do.

Yea probably the same reason why there is the "stock/modded" ICS browser (I know some people prefer it). They don't want preinstalled store apps in the rom, and such things as browser and calendar are basic features expected cooked in a ROM. PA does that though and it works well I think with no legal issue.
After trying several roms,I can say the top feature of nexus is the stock android and being uptodate instantaneous ,
So why you install a custom rom ? Sure it will not be stable as stock.
Customization can be dne through apk,I use
Exdialer.
Nova launcher
Sliding messages.
Tasker
Active screen lock , sometimes
Proximity screen off
Power toggle
Hey guys!
Does anybody have any idea why only the TW/Stock dialer works on my phone despite trying multiple AOSP/CM ROMs, kernels, PRL/Firmwares, and recoveries? I'm having tons of trouble finding others with this problem. The CM-style dialers all glitch and will not allow the input of keys from the phone/dialer app and will on some roms black the screen out completely despite my using the home button to minimize the app. In a few ROMs I've had to hard reboot the phone to get it out of the call screen. In others, only the dialer/phone app itself freezes up and the screen glitches with mild to moderate system ui problems.
Anybody? Or maybe I could provide some more info to anyone who has questions that we might figure out what the dilly is, here?
Dirty flashing? I don't know why you're having this issue but I have had issues in some roms where the aosp dialer come up blank with no digits.
What I did was search for blacked out dialer apks. Grabbed one for aosp and one for TW. Each time I go to a new rom I just overwrite the dialer apk, change permission reboot and good to go. Maybe that could be of some help maybe not. Just an idea and good luck

Thanks. Yeah, it's hard to explain exactly what happens, but it's not involving the omission of digits or lack of recognition. It's on all non-TW ROMs and causes the phone to totally wig out and the screen blinks on and off, sometimes locking the phone, sometimes not. It never used to do it before, and I suspect . It works great for every other aspect of the ROMS other than the dialer/phone app. It's not so simple at all that I can use one of those fine ROMS and just uninstall the CM dialer and install the TW version, is it?

I don't think that would work. You'd need aosp dialer on AOSP and TW dialer on TW. There's other apks and libraries involved. But you can always cherry pick apks from other 'like' roms that you know work fine. I just play around till something sticks, I break more than I fix but that's why we make backups.

To fix the dialer app not sending or receiving calls and getting stuck after call hang up.
You gotta use the method at the below link to fix this issue. I like AOSP over touchwhiz roms so i am so glad this xda member came up with this solution for us.

Hi,
Is there any way to reverse the Back and Recent hardware buttons on the S4 mini (i9195)?
I'm currently using Lineage 17.1, so I know it's possible to enable on-screen navigation (with the back button on the left and the recent on the right) but I don't want to use on-screen buttons.
I've seen there are some apps that claim they can reverse these buttons, but it seems like overkill to install an always-on app (possibly containing ads and/or spyware) just to have these buttons reversed.
Is there no simple hack that can do this? (preferably without needing root)
Thanks for any help.

Although not an immediate solution, it may be of interest to know that your wish is possible on my S4mini Value Edition (i9195i) using an amazingly wonderful ROM call'd ColtOS. (I also have a regular original S4mini (i9195) using Lineage 17.1, but would prefer to use ColtOS if only somebody would build it.)
Interesting to know that very option is included in ColtOS! Shame the ROM is not available for the i9195, although I think I'd prefer to stick with Lineage for now anyway, just wish there was a simple solution to this buttons issue...
You can use button remaper, i used it with the stock rom and its work great!
