I have XDA with ROM 4.00.11 ENG and Radio 4.21.00. Problem is : GSM module hangs so heavily that I have to cold-reset my device. This is very oppressive especially when I have set software.
I need some advice please.
RSU 4.21 is known to have many issues as you can read in this forum ... if you are using 900/1800 MHz, it's good to switch to RSU 3.25 from Carrier Devices.
If you are not ready to give up your xda ... I strongly advice you to get it flashed by a repair center ... RSU flashing is very dangrous even tho it worked for many people here!!
One last note, better to check with your operator if they can advice on a specific RSU version
Where I can download this RSU up/downgrade software ?

well see if it works good. need couple of days. I had before also 3.23.00 and 3.23.11 - both of them sucked. Signal was very weak (according to indicator on top of the screen). Now i see quite good coverage indication. Thanxx a lot.
BTW - I was in Cairo. Enormous ....

After having tried o2 4.21 and T-Mobile 3.23 on my xda without satisfying success I am asking what is the most advanced Radio Stack at the moment (to work with PPC2003).
Since the the Qtek came on the market very lately I suppose that their Radio Stack is the most developed. Am I right ?
If yes, where can I download it ?
I only found the ASIA/PACIFIC RSU Version here in the forum and I heard that you need an Asian IMEI for this.
Upgrading my xda to PPC2003 (Yorch's) solved most of my problems but not all (losing signal from time to time).

try reading this looks as if they had success with the radiostack url'd to
My O2 XDA PW10A1 (as labeled on the back of the device) is identified as PW10B1 in Device Information after updated to wm2003 a30.09 and RSU4.21. How can I get it identified correctly?
PS. Someone told me that there are two different RSU4.21 radios, one is for EU,the other is for Asia.Is there any differences between these two radios?Where can I download a RSU 4.21 radio for Asia?
It doesnt change anything, your phone is still 900/1800 band. If your phone works ok with the existing radio stack I would suggest leaving it alone as upgrading radio stacks can be very risky.
Updating the OS ROM to the correct version will change the iD. Changing the Radio stack is risky and could leave your phone as a paper weight.
When updating I highly suggest the SD method.
Thanks a lot
Thanks guys, for your great suggestions.
same here...
i upgraded OS when i was in phone settings it changes my band to 1900 , now i cant back it to normal state when i may use phone...
any solution how to change this band again to normal not 900/1900 ?

I changed band using bootloader
LONG LIVE XDA DEVELOPERS!
Hi. I started with an AT&T Siemens SX-56 with XDA Developers final 2002 software.
After burning my own 2003 ROM with Lumpi's kitchen, I installed from USB cradle. No probs.
Then I tweaked a new ROM, but it wouldn't work with USB. I had to upgrade it by SD method. Worked fine.
Don't ask me why (maybe I like having all newest versions), but I upgraded the radio using T-Mobile's 2003 updater.
I've since burned a new ROM I made in the kitchen.
My question is: I now have Wallaby Bootloader 5.22, T-Mobile kitchen ROM 4.10.16ENG 02/04/04, and Radio Stack 6.25.02. GSM Band doesn't work anymore. Is there one that will work?
I can sucessfully use Wallaby menu and change back and forth from 1900 to 900/1800, no problem, but,
1) is that the only way I can do it when I travel back and forth to Europe?
2) can I downgrade the Radio stack?
3) what versions (in your opinions) of ROM and Radio are the best/most stable/whatever...? (Internet isn't so important to me, but good cellphone signal is)
Thanks a million!
I love this site! Awesome!!!!!!

p.s. If anyone has questions about SX56 and how to get stuff to work and what happens when you try things, just ask! I've got a spare one I do all my testing on...[/b]
I used 6.24.01 and 6.25.02 RSUs with 900 MHz ... in general there is almost no difference ... both are performing in an acceptable manner. However, I have a personal feeling that 6.24.01 was a bit more stable (I maybe wrong tho).
In all cases, as long as you have a good RSU don't touch it ... it's a risky process unless there is a real need. I didn't try the GSM band switcher my self, but I heard it requires soft reset after.
I try to downgrade radio unit from v.4.21 to 4.16 BUT.. my network meter still swing and down (disappears) sometimes. What is the best radio unit version for XDA I?

The best RSU for Asia is 4.01. No Problem at all!
RSU 3.25.1 from Carrier Devices is perfect as well ... but guys, RSU flashing is extreamly risky ... do it ONLY if needed!!
niki_liandi =========== Where can i download RSU for Asia is 4.01 ?
Biso007=========== Is RSU 3.25.1 from Carrier Devices for asia network 900/1800? If YES! .. Where can I download it?
Regards,
i tried both, o still like 4.01 but don't have its file, attached is the 3.25 version which is much better than 4.16 & the ugly discustingly ****ti 4.21, though if u can find 4.01 anywhere i'll be greatfull i currently have it on my mobile & reluctant to pllay with my phone because i don't want to lose it, BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL QUOTE MY FRIEND BIS007 WHICH BECOME MY FAV LINE
DON'T MESS AROUND WITH A WORKING RADIO STACK OR YOU'LL END UP WITH A SILVER BRICK
Ask me i have 3, one i use as a paper weight the other as an sliver elephant & the 3rd as it keeps my coffe warm when connected to the charger
I have asked several times on different threads where people are claiming to have downgraded 4.21 rsu to other versions, in my experience this is impossible. Can anybody give me the methods used, step by step please.
cruisin-thru,
I managed to do this and I explain it in the following thread :

but i can put my sim into my other jasjam and it works .....

Go to Start>Settings>System>Device Information. What radio rom do you have?
If it says "No GSM" then you have a problem....
Cheers...
radio version 1.20.31.10
i just updated the OS to windows 6.1 Diamond (full) today and didnt change a thing
any help would be great
thanks bud
You need to download a radio only rom. I use 1.54.30.10 on Telstra n Oz. Depending where you are situated and what telco you use depends on what might be the best radio for you. People seem to like the 1.56.70.11 radio but it is still being tested and I don't really like it where I am - reception loss and battery drain... Tell us where you are, we know you're on Vodafone as per your 1st post. You should be able to find the radio roms pretty quick with a search using "radio rom hermes" as the search words.
Cheers...
