My O2 XDA PW10A1 (as labeled on the back of the device) is identified as PW10B1 in Device Information after updated to wm2003 a30.09 and RSU4.21. How can I get it identified correctly?
PS. Someone told me that there are two different RSU4.21 radios, one is for EU,the other is for Asia.Is there any differences between these two radios?Where can I download a RSU 4.21 radio for Asia?
It doesnt change anything, your phone is still 900/1800 band. If your phone works ok with the existing radio stack I would suggest leaving it alone as upgrading radio stacks can be very risky.
Updating the OS ROM to the correct version will change the iD. Changing the Radio stack is risky and could leave your phone as a paper weight.
When updating I highly suggest the SD method.
Thanks a lot
Thanks guys, for your great suggestions.
same here...
i upgraded OS when i was in phone settings it changes my band to 1900 , now i cant back it to normal state when i may use phone...
any solution how to change this band again to normal not 900/1900 ?

I changed band using bootloader
LONG LIVE XDA DEVELOPERS!

Hi. I started with an AT&T Siemens SX-56 with XDA Developers final 2002 software.
After burning my own 2003 ROM with Lumpi's kitchen, I installed from USB cradle. No probs.
Then I tweaked a new ROM, but it wouldn't work with USB. I had to upgrade it by SD method. Worked fine.
Don't ask me why (maybe I like having all newest versions), but I upgraded the radio using T-Mobile's 2003 updater.
I've since burned a new ROM I made in the kitchen.
My question is: I now have Wallaby Bootloader 5.22, T-Mobile kitchen ROM 4.10.16ENG 02/04/04, and Radio Stack 6.25.02. GSM Band doesn't work anymore. Is there one that will work?
I can sucessfully use Wallaby menu and change back and forth from 1900 to 900/1800, no problem, but,
1) is that the only way I can do it when I travel back and forth to Europe?
2) can I downgrade the Radio stack?
3) what versions (in your opinions) of ROM and Radio are the best/most stable/whatever...? (Internet isn't so important to me, but good cellphone signal is)
Thanks a million!
I love this site! Awesome!!!!!!

p.s. If anyone has questions about SX56 and how to get stuff to work and what happens when you try things, just ask! I've got a spare one I do all my testing on...[/b]
I used 6.24.01 and 6.25.02 RSUs with 900 MHz ... in general there is almost no difference ... both are performing in an acceptable manner. However, I have a personal feeling that 6.24.01 was a bit more stable (I maybe wrong tho).
In all cases, as long as you have a good RSU don't touch it ... it's a risky process unless there is a real need. I didn't try the GSM band switcher my self, but I heard it requires soft reset after.
Can't switch frequencies to 1900 to use phone in central US. I push 1900 and it says error and goes back to 900 which does me no good.
What can I do?
What RSU version ?
Do you do this in phone settings or GSM band switcher in boot loader ?
Change Frequencies
Not sure what you mean by RSU, but I have the XDA special edition rom 3.17.03 eng and I am doing it in the phone, I don't how to start bootloader. Thanks.
RSU stands for the Radio Stack of the device (the phone thing) ... you can read it in device info ... and if it doesn't support 1900 MHz then it's useless to try it from the phone settings.
Also, your device must be PW10B to work in 1900 .. check the rear sticker
you can start the boot loader by pressing and holding power while soft reset ... then press calendar button to go in the GSM menu.
Got into the bootloader and set to 1900. I have a PW10B1, but device info says I have a PW10A1. Why is this. The phone will now pick up a signal on 1900 but the reception is poor. Looses signal where it used to have a signal.
Radio Version is A.33.02
ROM Version is 3.17.03
Do I need to get a different ROM to get it to match a PW10B1?
Also, can I put my old ROM back on? I have it on disc? Tried to reload from Siemens site and it said I could not load on to this device.
Thanks, you have been very helpful!
It seems you used the 3.17 ROM to unlock ... what was the original ROM ?
well, I 'm the last one to advice on RSU flashing ... it's risky unless really really necessary ... check with your friends in the same area on the best RSU ... ROM doesn't make any difference.
If ok, I would recommend ROM 4.01.00 with RSU 6.25.02 ... you can cook the ROM in the kitchen but leave the RSU action as a last option
Original ROM A30.09 ENG
Radio A33.02
Since last post I figured out how to use XDA tools to get Siemens upgrade ROM back on and now every thing seems to be fine and unlocked which is what I originally wanted to use with Cingular sim. I will have to roam on ATT to use this but is OK since I have free roaming.
If I have any more problems, I will post again.
Thanks!
hello i have an big problem my wallaby dont connect to the phone network so i can't use the phone
please can someone help me i live in the netherlands my operator is tmobile
my rom version is 4.01.16 ENG
rom date 02.04.04
radio version 6.24.00
protocol version 324e4
is this wrong??
please help
greeting cor
Try entering bootloader, power switch held down while pushing stylus in reset, then push the button below the antenna, then choose 900/1800. You will need to do a backup first.
Your rom versions show that it is PW10B1 version (north american version GSM 900/1900).
If your local SP provides GSM 900 service, switch the band to GSM 900 (Setting > phone > Band > choose GSM 900
i have set the gsm band to 900 but it won't help he is stil searching for network
does someone have another solution???
There is another possibility, your phone is PW10A1, but the firmware and radio stack had been "upgraded" to PW10B1. So you won’t get any signal.
Check the label on back to see it is PW10B1 or PW10A1.
yes you are right that is it but where can i find the good stuff
so i must change my hardware version to pw10a1
any idea how i can change that??
now i have tries to update it via asimagetools
but i get a message
itsdcardinfo:niet nader omschreven fout
error opening target device
please can someone help me

Well, my device is PW10A1, but when i had T-Mobile 4.01.16 rom on my xda, it said PW10B1. Therefore check the back of your xda, if it says PW10A1 then you HAVE that version, just the rom says not. hehe. About flashing: you can not use programme a to flash your XDA when you have an T-mobile rom on it; you can only flash it with the SD-card method (use forum search). Try to flash in an 4.01.12 version (O2), i found it better than the T-mobile one.

Hello all,
I have a XDA i have a problem with the radio stack, Frend of mine did and upgrade of Rom and Radio, and he did a PW10B1 radio upgrade is there any posibbileties to downgradit to PW10A1.
Thanks in advanced
Hello,
How are you?
After finally managing to unlock my xda, it does not find any networks!
My ROM Version is 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date 12/22/03
Radio Version 6.24.00
Protocol version 324e4
Does anyone know of this problem?
Please help me.. I was so happy to unlock it and now i have run into this problem....
I have read that you shouldn't play with the gsm menu in the bootloader screen.. well i did play with them before i knew i shouldn't. Could this be the problem?
Is there a way to reset it?
Should I go to a different radio version?
Please help,
I live in France and I am on the french bouygtel network. I believe this is a 900/1800 gsm network.
Thank you,
monza

6.24.00 radio is for PWA10B1 and for 900/1900 networks only (for USA).
If you have a PWA10A1 model (check the back of your PDA), you should use 4.21.00 for 900/1800. Note: upgrading Radio Stack is very risky, do it for your own responsibility! So after you downgraded to 4.21, enter bootloader, press calendar button then select "900/1800" and soft reset.
You can get 4.21 radio stack from here:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21_PPC.zip for the ppc install version and
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21.zip for the activesync version. I remind you, upgrading radio stack is risky!!
Search in the forums how to upgrade radio stack.
Oh, and entering bootloader makes a hard reset.
KTamas... Thank you very very very much...
Thank you very very very much.....
You are a god ;-)
It worked.
Compatibility of SEROM with Radio A.20.10
I had been asking a similar question elsewhere in the forum.
Given these device specs,
ROM Version : A.21.02 ENG
ROM date: 10/17/03
Radio Version : A.20.10
Protocol version : 324e4
Carrier : AT&T GSM/GPRS in the USA,
would you know if the version of the Special Edition ROM v1.2 available on this site (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/SpecialEditionROM) should be compatible with this radio stack or not? I would not want to do a RS up/downgrade if I can avoid it.

Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
I've just acquired a T-Mobile (unlocked) and want to use it in New Zealand, which has a European setting, 900/1800. The T-Mobile is a PW10B1, which I think is setup to operate on a different frequency.
Can I swap the radio stack to operate on my local GSM network, or will I fry the PDA.
If I do swap the radio stack, and it fails - is there a ROM which I can use to rebuild the PDA with instructions on how to do this (URLS and links would be VERY much appreciated!)
Thanks, Hamish

PWA10B1 is for 900/1900 ONLY. You cant swap radio strack - if your provider works on 900 mhz, then you have to use it on that freq.
T-Mobile in NZ (from Canada)
Thanks for the reply.
Since then, I've installed a v4 radio stack (as described earlier in this thread) and the system does boot, but won't see my PC for Active Sync and also won't see the network.
I'm downloading the official T-Mobile ROM which I hope I can use, but if activesync won't work, any suggestions as to how to get the ROM loaded?
Also, is there a utility to select the network bandwidth, as there wasn't one already on the device - and I'm beginning to get a little concerned now!
Many thanks for your time so far!

You can choose 900/1800 or 900/1900 from the bootloader, press/hold power while pushing reset with stylus, then when screen appears, push the button below the antenna, choose your appropriate band and from there, for model A choose 900/1800 for model B choose 900/1900. Make sure you have a working backup of your data when using this method.
Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
Thanks for your help.....I managed to get it into bootloader, but was pressing the contacts button (left) rather than the right (calendar).
I now have managed to get the device to see the local 900MHz network, so it's functioning !
Your help has been much appreciated!

hello everyone! im AL from philippines. it's nice to be here. anyway, i want to thank the people responsible for this site...it did actually help me before.
well, i have an xda wallaby. my brother-in-law gave this to me as a present when he came home from U.S. and during that time, the device was sim-locked to T-Mobile. I accidentally clicked something and voila!, I was here downloading the sim unlocking software. It eventually worked but after using for a couple of months, the device just bugged. My phone can no longer find a signal. I tried to re-install the software which I downloaded and still, the problem persist. As for the other apps, I ahve no problem though.
Here are the details of of xda:
ROM version : 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date : 05/15/03
Radio version : 6.02
Protocol version : 324e4
Model Number : PW10A1
by the way, i also opted to change the ROM version.
PEEPS, can you please help me on this. I am planning to bring this device next month to UAE. Thanks a lot and i would appreciate for a quick reply.
Again, thank you everyone! Cheers!

Are you sure about this? Radio Version 6.xx are for PW10B models. Please check the rear sticker of the device for the exact model and do not use the output of the software....
Have you tried searching manually for a network? Which frequencies are used on the philipines 900, 1800 or 1900 MHz?
Maybe you inserted something wrong in the band selector, and your device is running in the wrong frequency. You can assign the correct frequency via band selector or in the bootloader.
If you haven't used the device for a while, is your sim card still active. Maybe it's out of order or anything else happened to it....
Stefan
LumpiStefan has right :
If your device is pw10A1 then you must use a radio stack 4.xx like 4.21 for example and select the good frequencies with band selector.
folks,
thank you sooo much for the reply.
as for the model, the sticker says it's PW10B1. i am using an active SIM. i posted the topic last night but when i got back in the office this morning, everything was back to normal. but again, i still dont get it...all of a sudden the signal came out of nowhere. hehehe! really, thank you for your posts and cheers!
God Bless!
maybe it's because your country use 900/1800 ?
in that case the phone would only work when it's getting a 900 signal ?
after i receive the xda, i automatically unlocked it using the software you guys unselfishly shared to me. and it worked! but after using it for like 4 months (not sure...probably this long), it just stopped getting a signal. i re-installed the same software but it did nothing. so, i decided to post this topic last night...and this morning, it went well again...for no reason at all. i am pretty sure i didnt change any settings. anyway, i am VERY GLAD you guys came to the rescue...even though my device just "cooperated" without being bugged(by me...hehehe!).
