Transitioning from T-Mobile to AT&T - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I just unlocked my T-Mobile Pocket pc and now I am on the AT&T side. I have tried to install the AT&T OS, but when I try, the program that I downloaded from Siemens, AT&T told me about, locks up and just quits running. Any one has any suggestions. I have looked in the forums here and at AT&T but no luck. I did call Siemens and they told me that I could send them the set so that they could flash it back to 2002. Then I could be able to install AT&T's 2003, of course, they want 35 bucks.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mogul / Titan / 6800 use on Alltel network?

Hey guys,
I am looking to answer a few questions for a friend.
He has Alltel service and wants to purchase Alltel's version of the 6800.
Would he be able to buy the Sprint version, since both carriers are CDMA?
I have no clue about CDMA, I only use GSM carriers.
I see the prices of the Alltel verion are rediculous on eBay.
Thanks for the help
The Alltel version is pricier...I think because the Alltel cliental is not as nearly extensive as Sprint's. CDMA is a newer digital carrier service used only in the USA and Canada I think. GSM is older but used here and Europe.
As for carrier service, I would imagine there is away to get a Mogul to work on Alltel service since they are both CDMA and even Verizon is now allowing other CDMA carrier's phones on their network. I saw some posts about transferring phones with ESN, etc. Do a little more searching. You will find the answer.
Sprint Mogul on Alltel
You can use any version of the 6800 on Alltel... I've used both a Sprint Mogul and a Telus P4000 (Canadian) successfully. I still use the Telus P4000 as a backup to my Alltel 6800.
The easiest way to accomplish using another carrier's device is to use the hard SPL (bootloader) here on XDA-Developers and then you can load the Alltel ROM to whichever version of the device you have. That's exactly what I did to my P4000...
The only consideration to affecting this change is that Sprint uses MSL's (Master Subsidy Lock) on their phones. You'll need to know the MSL to update the PRL (Preferred Radio/Roaming List) because a non-Alltel device will not update OTA (Over The Air). Verizon and Alltel (verify Verizon for yourself, I'm only sure about Alltel) don't use MSL's, their MSL is always set to six zero's... so a Verizon 6800 is the easier switch as both Telus and Sprint use MSL's for their handsets.
Good luck...

How in the heII did you get them to accept your non-Alltel phones??? Do you have a friend at Alltel? I couldn't get them to activate my old Sprint 6700 on my wifes Alltel line for ANYTHING! I'll bet I called 25 times trying to get it done (sometimes if you just get the right CSM they'll do anything for you). I even talked to tech support and told them that I had flased the Alltel ROM to the phone so that it was essentially an Alltel phone.
You must be good...
How to activate another carriers phone
Call them and dont tell them its not an alltel phone simply state you have a 6700 or 6800 to activate and there will be no questions or issues activating the phones, of course you will need to have the rom already updated as they will try to get you to ota activate the phone or manually program and they wont know the msl code and if you mention anything about it, then they will know its not an alltel phone also you can download alltel's version of wm6 for the 6700 and 6800 at this site without any bootloader tool.

Its not really made for the 6700 but I have tested and worked fine on mutiple 6700s.

Thats really good to know. It seems reasonable that if they tell you something like they cant locate the phone in your system, tell them that that is impossible. The phone after all came in a alltel, has alltel logos on it etc. =) That chad guy from the commercial even came over and personally verified it.

Wing it!

Hi. I'm new here and basically dont' know anything... Here's my question. I recently got a T-Mobile Wing from a friend. I am an AT&T customer. I had the Wing unlocked, but would also like to use my medianet functions from AT&T on this device. Is there a way to flash the phone or whatever so that it is recognized by the AT&T network? Basically, I want the network to recognize the T-Mobile device as an AT&T device.
Any help would be appreciated. I see you all know your stuff.
Thanks!

AT&T on the Wing?

Noob here. I just got an unlocked Wing. I am an AT&T subscriber. Phone works great, but is there a way to use the AT&T media net features on the T-Mobile device? Can I make the AT&T network see the device as an AT&T device? I found an old thread with the same kind of question, but no real answers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I believe you have to go to at&t website and configure the options manually unless somebody creates an at&t rom, otherwise everything must be done manually
I'm completely making this up right now ... BUT:
Did you just pop your ATT sim card into the Tmobile Wing? And that's it?
I think for any other features to work, you would need to call ATT up and give them the IMEI and other information from your phone which would make it work, since that's how they detect what type of phone you have server-side and return the information they think is pertinent to your phone...
If youre phone isn't "regsitering" ... or its trying to send your phone the info that should have gone to your old phone that's on the account ... or it may not be sending anything at all.
I suggest, call ATT and explain the situation. I seriously doubt they're going to say anything... since you're still paying THEM every month.
Once they have the necessary info from ur phone, it should take 15 min to provision or something and boom ... everything should work.
Have someone made a cab with those ATT features you are trying to use? Maybe over in the kaiser forum who are mainly all ATT users bc of the Tilt

New Blackberry Connect on AT&T Problems

I'm trying to get Blackberry Connect running on my Wizard. I have a couple of issues that I haven't seen addressed anywhere in the forums.
First, my info:
Device = HTC Wizard G4, Cingular 8125.
OS = WM 6.1 TNT.19199 v2.
Carrier = AT&T w/ a Cingular PDA Connect unlimited data plan
My company runs Blackberry Enterprise Server.
I was able to get Blackberry Connect 4.0 from here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225
Does anyone have a more recent version?
Do you know if I still need to use a hex editor to spoof my OS version? I haven't tried that yet.
The main problem I'm getting is that I can't activate once I install BBConnect. I assume this is because I don't have a BB data plan yet. So I call ATT and try to switch to a BB enterprise plan and it doesn't work. The first time I tried the lady talked to an internal tech guy who said that since ATT doesn't officially support BBConnect on the Wizard, their system would periodically check my IMEI number, determine that it's a wizard, CANCEL MY DATA PLAN, and charge me per-KB for any future data accesses. Yow!
Well, as a staunch geek I said bring it on, so she tried hooking it up, but the computer refused the BB data plan because it saw that my IMEI number was for a Wizard, not a BB. Bleh.
So a few hours later I called back and got someone else and told her that I had a Blackberry that I wanted service for. She asked for the Blackberry's IMEI number. I said I didn't have it yet. She said to go to the web site and tell it that I had a Blackberry instead of a Cingular 8125. I did that, but the web site now shows a grayed out, nameless phone icon. It apparently didn't believe me about having a Blackberry. Anyway, then the lady tried to set it up but it wouldn't let her because it still said my IMEI number was for an 8125.
So what do I do? Does anyone currently have BBConnect running successfully on an AT&T data plan using your 8125's IMEI number?
Is there a way to spoof an IMEI number?
I actually bought a $10 real blackberry on ebay to try to get around this. Once it arrives I'll be able to switch my data plan for sure, but then when I put my sim card back in my 8125, will ATT's computers detect my 8125's IMEI number and turn off BB service, like their tech guy said? I read something on this thread about someone getting BBConnect to work great for about 12 hours, but then it stopped working. I wonder if this is what was going on.
I guess I could go out and buy a Tilt because ATT does approve of BB Connect for that, but I would rather use my 8125 until I can get a WM7 device with Nvidia's APX2500 3D/HDTV chip in it.
Is it possible to spoof my 8125's IMEI number to a Tilt's IMEI number?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
DaveMc
Seriously, can someone help a little, please?
Ok. I got a cheap Blackberry and called ATT to switch to the Blackberry data plan. I told them my end goal of running BBConnect on the 8125. This guy was more savvy and said I could use the PDA Enterprise plan, so I went with it.
However, I'm not getting any BB goodness. I installed BBConnect 4, it rebooted, I tried activating the BB, but it just said "Not Connected".
Now I can't even boot. It just hangs on the TNT "Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional" third splash screen.
Can I please hear from anyone running BBConnect on a Wizard? What is your configuration? What is your version of BBConnect? Where did you get it? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
You need to have the Blackberry plan, the PDA connect won't work. I had the same issue. ATT reps are trained to put you on a plan based on the phone, but when you are running BBC you must have a Blackberry plan. Took me 3 calls.

T-mobile is frustrating me.

I opened my account with T-mobile three days ago with a talk plan and the unlimited data/messaging plan. I wasn't able to connect to their internet so I called them, and they basically said "look, it hasn't been 48 hours so we can't help you".
I had the CR86 rom on my phone (which I loved, btw) and had it all set up nice and whatnot. So I called back yesterday and after 45 minutes of checking settings and talking to three different tech reps, the last one said that I would have to flash the phone with the official T-mo rom (T-Mobile MDA Software Version (2.26.10.2)) and that would allow me to connect.
So I did. Prior to this, with the CR86 I was getting the Edge icon on my screen. I just flashed the phone with the T-mo rom, and now I don't even get the E. When I try to connect it gives me the message 'The answering modem has disconnected.'
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
