Hi,
A very nice man at Orange has given me an SPV-M1000 (XDA-II) to play with for the next four weeks, but having probs.
I did try the search engine with little success.
Problems:
Backlight switches off.
I tap the screen, press the buttons, perform a soft reset, but to no avail.
I have to unclick the 'turn on backlight' and then click it back on again. This can also happen with a fully charged batt.
MMS:
I can write a text msg, but the option to add attachment is greyed out. I did try to open a pic first and send it that way. She received the txt, but not the pic.
Connecting to pop3:
Set up an Orange E-mail account, but do i connect by: MMS, GPRS, or the internet option? Whatever ichoose, i can't download my e-mail into my inbox.
Hidden Port:
When i remove the back cover, i notice that there is another port below the battery. What is it for?
Downloads:
When i download some PocketPC progs, i get an error msg that <prog> not the correct version. Are there different Pocket PC versions? Can anyone recommend an unzip prog for the phone, and i am still desparate to play .MOV files, but can't find anything that works.
Thank you for your help.
I thought I was having a problem with the Backlight turning off, but it turned out that I was causing it by pressing and holding the [Power] button, when turning it off.
If you press and hold the [Power] button, that turns off the Backlight.
To turn off the unit, simply press the [Power] button and don't linger.

On my XV6600 I could change the reg key "flightmodeswitchbypnhendkey" then hold the phone end key to toggle the flight mode on and off. Is there a similar setup for the MDA?
Thanks

Right but...
For some reason my MDA requires calibration regularly. I think it gets messed up switching modes (landscape to portrait). This coupled with my fat fingers causes much stress when trying to simply turn the phone on and off.
Thanks
bind the attached file to a hardware buton and it switches flight-mode on and off.
VJVolublis will do this and some other stuff.

Thank You all...
Is there a way to make buttons dual action push and hold buttons? IE push and hold call end button to execute the "tel.on-off_197.exe" file?
Thanks again everyone for your help.
try a search for AEBPlus or go to http:\\ae.inc.ru for download. You can use it without registering to try or register if you are happy with it, like I am.
Thank you all very much!
Works great! I appreciate all of your help.
Hi guys...
I am as techy as the rest of yew, maybe more so, but I am having a problem understanding one thing about this phone. I know it is something very simple that I am missing, but I can't find anything about it anywhere in the docs, either?
How does the "auto power off" feature work? What I mean by this is, I know we can turn the power off after two minutes or whatever, but I see that the green GSM radio light is still flashing. That's good, that's what we want because we want to be able to receive calls.
The problem I am having is that after a time (I am guessing it is the two minutes?) I can't get the screen to come back on? What am I missing here? Is it me, or is it a bad phone? Auto power off seems to make the phone unuseable until a soft reset.
I tried pushing the power button, nothing. I tried HOLDING the power button, nothing. I tried pushing the TALK button, nothing.
Is the auto power off different than pushing the power button once and putting the device to sleep? What I want is the device to go to sleep after two minutes. I want to be able to use the phone again without doing a soft reset every time.
I know this is something easy, but I can't quite figure it out?

I've been having a similar issue with my 8125. I seem to also have a problem when I turn the device off. I've been trying to pinpoint the circumstances, but haven't had any luck as of yet.
Have you made any progress with this?
hold the power bottom for 3-5 seconds , there will apper a Yes/No dia.tap yes will real shut off. Not good at eng.But is it easy to understand ?
i had a similiar issue recently on a phone i had forever, turns out that i installed GPRS connection monitor that turned the backlight off on my phone... after hitting the power button to wake it up it appeared my screen was still off, so if i turned it at the right angle i could see my today screen.. meaning the backlight was off, i had to keep it at that angle and navigate into the setting menu to turn the backlight on.. i couldnt find a fix for it so i uninstalled the GPRS monitor and havent had the problem since
Ive had this tmobile mda for about a year and it was telling me that its memory was dangerously low or something. so i told it to clear all text messages cause there was like 5000. i figured it would take a half a day or so and i just left it. after a day it was still lagging and pretty much not responding or answering calls or texts or anything so i pulled out the battery to reset it. when i put the battery back in every soft key short cut button i pushed resulted in error message saying, error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename. when i enter the start menu everything is gone except for 'today', 'calupd', and 'coldinit'. all of these are dead shortcuts. its like all the memory of the phone (pocket windows) is gone. how do i go about trying to fix it. i can 'explore' on microsoft activesync, but it tells me when i tried to upgrade the software, that it is not connected.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Press and hold Comm + Voice button and press the reset little switch. The screen will go black and then it will ask you to format your device. Press the call button. That should make it work again
I am on rom 1.19 WWE
Whenever I start a phone call, the screen blanks (becomes black) but the phone call can continue. I have to press the power button twice to "resuscitate" my device.
Is this normal? If not are there any steps to solve it?
Of course I set the power settings to keep the device ON at least for 5 minutes both on batteries and on charger.
Backlight question:
I cannot see the backlight settings, which in my former device (kaiser) where under power settings area. Is this normal?
Thanks and waiting
Saulo866
it's normal. with the screen blacked-out (off) you won't accidentally launch a program
dear Cortez
Thanks for your message
1.
But why this (screen blanking) never happened on my former Kaiser, Athena, Dopod, Tytn, etc?
2.
Is it possible to cancel this function? In fact I wish to monitor the call details, timing, or even do some other actions, while calling, like activate conference mode, etc.
How to disable this so-called "proximity-feature" ?
Thanks
Saulo866
Ehm push the on/off button. There is also a tweak for it. Use search or read the topics here

Hey guys, i noticed that when the screen turns off or goes into stand by and you recieve an SMS/MMS message, the alert sound still comes on, but the screen stays off. Is there a way to change this? It's sort of annoying having to press the top button just to see if a text message comes in. Can it be tweaked in the registry? If so, what would one have to do to change it? I have a registry editor installed on my phone so if anyone has any ideas......go ahead
Standby when phone call received

Use the power on\off button on top instead of pressing the the Dial button.. it was annoying for me too but the power button does it for me and it's better than to keep the screen on during the whole call since all my calls are above five mins
bump...someone has to have some idea what can be done to fix this
If you install HDTweak ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505 ), you can disable the screen switching off during a call and/or make the device wake up when a new SMS is received. It works for me.
Installing HD tweak and then going to 2.2 will solve your problem.
try the hd tweak or the diamond config both have twaeks to activate the screen when you receive the sms. but be sure to lock the phone for when you have it in your pocket.
NICE!!!! thanks guys for the info, i will try this ASAP when i get home
GAWD I LOVE THIS FORUM

Hi there, I disabled 1.1 and it still does not seem to work for me
However, Enabled 2.1 and that works.
Please help ...
In HDtweak, I have 1.1 disabled, 1.2 Disallow, 1.3 Disabled
The screen doesn't go off during a call. I can always press the power button to turn off/on the screen manually if i want to save battery during a long call (or not attract attention when calling on a dark street!)
