Turning screen back on when SMS comes in? - Touch HD General

Hey guys, i noticed that when the screen turns off or goes into stand by and you recieve an SMS/MMS message, the alert sound still comes on, but the screen stays off. Is there a way to change this? It's sort of annoying having to press the top button just to see if a text message comes in. Can it be tweaked in the registry? If so, what would one have to do to change it? I have a registry editor installed on my phone so if anyone has any ideas......go ahead

Use the power on\off button on top instead of pressing the the Dial button.. it was annoying for me too but the power button does it for me and it's better than to keep the screen on during the whole call since all my calls are above five mins

bump...someone has to have some idea what can be done to fix this

If you install HDTweak ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505 ), you can disable the screen switching off during a call and/or make the device wake up when a new SMS is received. It works for me.

Installing HD tweak and then going to 2.2 will solve your problem.

try the hd tweak or the diamond config both have twaeks to activate the screen when you receive the sms. but be sure to lock the phone for when you have it in your pocket.

NICE!!!! thanks guys for the info, i will try this ASAP when i get home

Hi there, I disabled 1.1 and it still does not seem to work for me
However, Enabled 2.1 and that works.
Please help ...

In HDtweak, I have 1.1 disabled, 1.2 Disallow, 1.3 Disabled
The screen doesn't go off during a call. I can always press the power button to turn off/on the screen manually if i want to save battery during a long call (or not attract attention when calling on a dark street!)

Key press (by mistake) on the case

When my device P3600 received call or sms, the device is powered up, and then all the keys are active. If the device in case some key can be press (by mistake) and activate a program on this situation.
Does any one have a solution for that?
Use the Device Lock Feature in your Today Screen.
I do not like to add one more line to the dotay screen
can I use it without add it to the dotay screen?
If you don't want an additional line on the today screen then the other option is to set the device to request a password after only one minute of inactivity (under "Settings", "Personal", "Lock").

10x, but this is not help, the lock is form power up the the device, and the device is automitly powered up when received call or sms
I use a program called "device lock" that can be mapped to one of the buttons, I use button one when you hold for a few seconds. The app locks the phone and turns off the screen, so when you recieve a call or sms the screen will turn back on but the phone will still be locked.
Have a search on the forums here for it, that where i got it from.
Cheers

in this case you can not aswers a call, when received one - because when the device is lock there is no quick way to answer that call.
or I miss someting here.

Yes you can answer a call, the device lock only lets you use the power, answer, and hangup buttons. When the call is finished it is still locked, unless you unlock it.
I use this one. http://www.mr2-power.com/downloads/DeviceLock.CAB
10x, GREAT, this will do the job
it is work fine - 10x

I am glad you found a way to solve your problem but I don't understand why my suggestion should not work. If you set your device to request a pin after one minute of inactivity if you receive a message the keys will still be blocked until you enter your pin. (I am talking about device PIN not SIM PIN).
And if you receive a call the answer button works even without entering a PIN.

Your solution works too, the only thing is sometimes (for example) I'm sitting on the couch using my phone for email or surfing and watching a TV program. I stop to watch something interesting for 3 minutes and my phone has locked itself with the pin lock. I have to enter the code each time this happens. It can get annoying. If I use devicelock, I lock the keys when I need to, obviously when I'm at home and my phone is on the coffee table, it doesn't need to be locked. I set my device pin lock at 2 hours, that should give the phone enough time to lock itself if I loose it...hopefully.
yeah... but when you loose your phone the device lock doesn´t matter. only reinstall a Rom and your phone can be used.

Yes, very true, but at least they won't be able to see all my contacts, appointments, notes etc. That being said, I always use FlexWallet to encrypt all sensitive information which is synchronized to my laptop.
touch screen and buttons can be locked during a call?
I followed up this thread and found it very interesting. But it does't focus all the problem:
when call's come in, your solutions are ok.
But when I want to make a call, I found there is a nasty *****, clicking to call waiting or to head speaker on, opening a note or calling my voice box etc. etc.
Then I found that it was my ear or my fingers, clicking on the touch screen or my fingers clicking hardbuttons.
I think tat during a call on the normal speaker the only buttons to be active should be "hang on" and "loud speaker on". With loudspeaker or BT on, or call terminated,s screen and buttons should come back to full function.
Anybody knows a solution to this?
Regards, and keep on, its a great forum. i love it.

Hmm this is just "device lock" that we can see in HTCplugin. In my case it does not turn off the screen. It just locks my device. Is everyone has "turn off the sreen" functionality?

I lastly tried the on-off button to block screen during outgoing calls.
I never did this before because I thought it would cancel the active call, but it doesn't.
Ok, I see it's more or less doing what I want. But it's very unconfortable. When I hit it bad, or don't hit it at all, or forget to press it?
Isn't there a posibility to have the screnn sensibility off, only sensibility, until the call is either ended, passed to outer speaker, headset or BT? or perhaps simply until I give it free manually?
It would improve safe usage of that phone remarkably, I think.
If not :-( , well, I allways can press the button ;-)
curious for what solutions you'll find on your problems with incoming calls. Perhaps that will give me an Idea.
Chears
I've complained about this on just about every major forum I have found. Hopefully, someone will eventually write an app to allow personalized device locking. I would set my trinity to not wake for ANYTHING and have ONLY the power button active. I would prefer to get audible alerts (or vibrate) to incoming calls, alarms and messages. Pressing power would be the only way to turn the device on. PIN features only annoy me. This would be very useful anytime I am not willing to immediately respond to a notification - driving, having dinner, in a meeting, etc. It could significantly improve battery life. I store mine in my pocket and accidental button press is a problem as well.

Too easy to call by mistake

Only real issue I have with this phone is that it is real easy to dial out accidentally.
Many times when putting the phone back in it's pouch or into my pocket I set the thing ringing.
I tried disabling the green phone button with AE buttonplus but if i'm on the contacts page and touch the green button it still rings.
An body have any idea how to disable the green button other than AE button plus (mentioned in another thread) or have any thoughts on a solution?
Cheers

Using S2U2 will prevent you from call accidentally, or as we call it: a pocketcall.
Thanks for the reply but the problem with S2U2 is it only works after it's activated by the timeout - before it locks the buttons are still active. But even with general handling of the phone it's just too easy to hit the call button especially when you mean to hit the left softkey.
I'll remember "pocketcall" tho...

I fire up s2u2 by hand before pocketing it and never had any problems
just block the screen by pressing end call for +-3 sec.
If you have enabled the lock then the suggestion by zuadao, does not work! What I do instead is, before I put it in my pocket etc. I press the hard botton at the top to switch it off!
Thanks guy's - these are all OK if you can get into the habit and if you are putting phone away - but, like I said, it's also a problem in general handling of it when it's in use.
For me, the best would be to disable single press call - but i'm struggling to do it.
I do appreciate the answers tho

This is what I also do, works a treat. Would be nice to hold it for 1 seconds though instead of 3.
I use gyrator 2. I flip my mobile face down and it will lock automatically and turn off screen. I am lazy to push +- 3 secs end call.....

Good tip, I will try that
(my first post)
What i usually do is to press the top on/off button to turn off the screen before putting into my pocket.
Another option is the "auto lock" feature in HD Tweak. It locks your phone each time you turn the screen off, which alleviates having to hold the end key down for a few seconds.
Best oh yes by FAR the best solution is TouchLockPro

light up when recieve text?

Hi, site looks great, need to explore more, but reason i am here at mo is i'm trying to find out if there is a way to let the phone light up when a text is received? like a conventional phone/ this is my first wondows mobile / pocket pc thing, so its taking some time getting used to it
At moment though i have to press the power button to check if any texts, and this will be using power as pressing it when no texts are in (phone is silent at work)
IS this poss to achieve? either through settings, or a app?
You can use HD Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505) to turn on a feature that causes your phone to turn on when you receive a text.
You can also go to the Sounds and Notifications setting in your phone and check the box that will cause your little LED light on the power button to keep flashing until you check your message.
thanks for the help, will look into that
I did that and works great (thanks to HD Tweak) but I found out why they decided to not turn on the screen by default... whenever I receive a SMS and the phone is on my pocket, I start making calls by mistake...

Go to "Settings, Buttons"
Either select "Lock Device" or "Always display Quick list"
Long press on the end call key will then Lock all input so even if the phone does wake, it wont respond unless unlocked.
Locked phone is essential if you have a Bluetooth car or Earpiece as the phone will wake everytime on connect/disconnect also.

Blank screen while incoming call

Hi, I've the problem with incoming calls. Afer the ring and pressing the green button to answer the screen is turning off (just like standby mode). I can only press on/off switch to see screen again or stop call by pressing the red button, than all is displaying again. It isn't normal, I think, and very unconfortable to get options while a calling is on. Thanks for advices.
It is normal. It prevents you from touching the touch screen by your ear during the call , also saves some energy. If you need for example calendar during the call, you can push on/off button.
I think there is some registry hack which can prevent this behavior.
Also, see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460377

LCD screen blackout while making a call out

Hi,
I had a problem with my Jade where the LCD screen blackout while making a call out, and i need to turn the screen on again pressing the power button.
Can anyone advise me?
Thank you in advance for your advise.
Vincent
No problem, is a normal function
Yup, that's normal behavior. There is a sensor which senses when you have the phone touching your face. It then turns the screen off. You wouldn't want it to activate all kinds of options while rubbing your face.
Thanks a lot! but Garmin problem now..
Hi ralfbonne, Arunia,
Thanks alot for your advise.
I have another problem which is the Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.10W.
Is a cracked version, after i installed S2U2 v1.60, the below error message pops up while half way using the Garmin GPS:
"Read access violation at data address 0xF9C3D650. Program address 0x0016FAF4 in background thread NULL (GfxFieldWindowProc)".
Is this caused by the settings for S2U2?
Besides, sometimes it took too long time to get the satellites signals, can be up to 20mins long!
Could you please kindly advise me too?
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day.
Vincent
How to keep screen on in call (no blackout): solution
All registry hacks & Advanced Config tricks for keeping the screen on while a call is in progress do not apply to the Jade/3G.
However, there is a solution to overcome this annoying feature:
install Touch InCall Screen Tweak, and set the options "Ignore first screen off" and "Always On" in the options.
Why keep the screen on during call? Your face will just start activating things at random. If you really need it on (maybe using earpiece) you can always press the power button.
It's annoying
I have never accidently pressed anything on the screen while calling.
However, having to press the power button to bring the screen back while calling voicemail has annoyed me many times.
I also believe it is annoying that the screen blacks out. Even when I have the phone facing down and not to my ear, the screen blacks
I need to get it on, so I could use speakerphone. I'm one of those that love using speakerphone, so yea
I will try the InCall cab file.
