Hi Forum,
i try the the Howto from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/bluetoothnetworking on my Suse91 System.
It works fine, but when i disconnect my mda-2 the hotplug-script remove the device /dev/rfcomm0.
See the log (last line):
May 10 17:24:31 lxnote pppd[4842]: LCP terminated by peer

May 10 17:24:33 lxnote /etc/hotplug/tty.agent[4954]: remove tty device /class/tty/rfcomm0

If i try to reconnect he wants to use the device /dev/rfcomm0. So before reconnect i must manual add the device with:
mknod /dev/rfcomm0 c 216 0
Does anyone know a better way?

I have an I-mate jasjar (rom 1.30.76WWE and Radio 1.09.00)
My problem is the following:
using my laptop at work (XP SP2) and active sync 4.2, I cannot sync all te time. Sometimes it's working well, but in most cases, active sync loses connecting after trying for about a minute to connect. I'm coonecting using USB. Using Irda it works always.
Any clues?
Thanks
Hello, I've experienced some similar problems with my universal, it's quite a common point of view that active sync 4.X is a bad app, it has generated lots of problems (in fact is called active stink by quite a few) enough with this.
Anyway, I solved most of my problems just by using the PDA's original sync cable, I mean that, having my digital photo camera with mini USB, a couple of card readers also with mini USB, bluetooth devices also with it, well, I usually picked up the first cable I had next, and connect my universal, let me tell you that not all cables are just equal, it seems that this device (universal) is somehow "delicate", and wants a short and simple USB mini cable.
This is a possibility, another is that something is interfering with your USB connection, possibilities? USB hub, another device is sucking lots of current from your USB port (USB scanner without its own independent power supply, etc).
hope this helps
not solved yet
Thanks for the suggestions, but this is not (my) solution:
I'm using the original cable and using no hub or other USB diveces at this moment and still having the problems.
In the meantime I looked at the knowledge base of Microsoft and only found a patch for SP1 which is included in SP2. So no help from there either, I think
try restarting DHCP client..
Try restarting the DHCP client service on your laptop. If you know your way around the service manager then you know how, or if not you can open up a windows command line on your laptop and type in this at the command prompt (without the ""-s of course ) :
"sc stop dhcp"
then something like this should appear:
SERVICE_NAME: dhcp
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE : 3 STOP_PENDING
(STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x1
WAIT_HINT : 0x61a8
then wait about 10 sec then type:
"sc start dhcp"
you will receive something like this:
SERVICE_NAME: dhcp
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE : 2 START_PENDING
(NOT_STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x0
WAIT_HINT : 0x7d0
PID : 976
FLAGS :
after a few sec your pda will reconnect to the activesync sw on your machine
PS you don`t necessary need to disconnect your uni while doing this.
Sometimes I have a similar situation where I plug in my uni via USB and it just don`t want to connect to activesync... (I running the latest ver of the activesync client on a 32bit WinXP w SP2.) The above method may not take care of your problem, but it certainly won`t hurt to try and see... It certainly fixes my problem, but keep in mind this is not a permanent fix. It may resolve the issue on a per incident basis, although it`s not very convenient.... I hope MS will solve this with an update on the active sync or via a Windows Update..... will see...
just my 2c
use USB switch program
i had problem like you also where i could only connect via infrared, but now its solved by using USB switch program that I got from Dopod website.
no success

That solution looked promising, but I tried it twice without success (activesync cannot connect...). Thanks anyway for the suggestion

Has anyone sucessfully ran the PocketPutty on the Trinity with WM6?
When I do, I sometimes get a connect, but then it interrupts, with an error saying that the server has closed the connection?
Could someone help me please
hi,
absolutley no problem with pocketPuTTY build on Feb 28 2007
bye
OK the time to wait for login on my ssh server was set to 10 seconds.
This is a littlebit to short for Pocket Putty. Now I can connect, but I takes up to 20 seconds.
With PC-Putty it takes less than 1 second. Reason
Using PocketPutty on my Kaiser.
Install to the phone as it comes up with a fatal error if installed on the storage card
Hi,
I just installed my second Nexus Q to listen to music in the office. My first one at home is working perfectly without any issues.
Installing the new one is no problem, setup is fine and I can change the options and interact with it through settings (e.g., changing brightness). It also played the start-up sound during installation (using the analogue amp).
However, I can't get it to play any music. Whenever I select a song in Google Music, I get a message "Music temporarily unavailable. Couldn't play the stream that you requested.".
I factory reset the Q and restarted it and my tablet and am stuck now. The debug output under advanced options looks fine to me (below, "x"s by me).
Any ideas what could be the issues or how I could investigate the problem further (the error message is not very helpful really...)?
Many thanks!
-Gerrit

Google music can only be accessed from one device at a time.
Is it possible that someone at home was using it or from some other device?
I've only seen that error message when I was using Google music elsewhere.

Thanks, it's actually much simpler than that. I connected the new Nexus Q to another Wifi-network (tethered from my phone) and it worked perfectly. So, I assume the problem is actually the firewall on the fixed Wifi-AP I would normally use.
Since tethering my phone is no permanent solution: Is there any public information on the protocol/server/ports that the Nexus Q uses? Since I can play from my mobile, it must be different from the handset Google Music protocol...?
Any pointers appreciated.
Thanks!

Well I know Google services will have issues with access points if certain ports are blocked. The ports are TCP and UDP 5228.
If those are open the router may be incompatible. Here's a link to the nexus Q help center. http://support.google.com/nexus/?hl=en#/topic/2372094. There is a list of incompatible routers there.

Did you get the same problem with YouTube and the Google movies app.
If there was a problem with the WiFi multi-casting path, those applications wouldn't have worked as well.
I have seen this issue before.
I fixed it by removing the paired device from my nexus q application, factory resetting the Q using the palm method, then resetting my phone and repairing.
It doesn't sound like there is a problem with the router because you can still control the device with the phone.
It pulls the music and videos from the internet.
If YouTube and Movies work then the router isn't your problem.
This may not be an option for everybody but we have seen that flashing DDWRT firmware on your router seems to fix a variety of persistent connectivity issues.
Update: Any VPN app (protonVPN, etc.) you use in standby falls even if the battery optimization is disabled.
Hello,
I have a P9 lite VNS-L31 singlesim VODAFONE with Android 7, has the latest possible update arrived via OTA vns-l31c02b346 Vodafone.
The problem is that installing an Expressvpn everything seems to work until the screen is unlocked, as soon as I put the mobile phone to standby the VPN drops.
Resurrects after about half an hour and then after a further hour after which I mute until I turn the screen back on (just turn it back on without unlocking it and the VPN reconnects). The VPN remains connected without any problem if the phone is locked but charged.
I have been trying for 10 days to get help from expressvpn assistance, but for them everything is regular and depends on my mobile phone.
I tried to manually configure a VPN using the l2tp protocol and strangely also in standby the vpn resists even if I can't send heavy files (photos etc ..)
The expressvpn app can be used by selecting as UDP or TCP protocol (with UDP it connects while with TCP it runs but does not connect).
I put automatic or UDP and it connects but in standby it freezes.
The wifi connection is stable and I use the fiber, even under data network it immediately disconnects in standby.
The assistance says that the phone has some problems.
I deactivated battery optimization for vpn but nothing ... it acts as if it were always under DOZE ..
I used ADB and checked and the expressvpn app is correctly present in whitelist.
I also completely reset the Huawei console phone and then restored from google backup, but nothing
Can you suggest any attempts?
Or maybe make me understand what's broken?
Thanks
Ps. to complicate the thing is that my brother with a p9 lite vns-l31 always singlesim and Android 7 but unbranded version that works perfectly with expressvpn.
the 2 p9 are "genuine" and never unlocked or modded.
I'm getting crazy.
Ps2.
This is the log of express vpn when connection drops:

with command adb shell dumpsys package com.expressvpn.vpn the only difference is in runtime permissions(disabledcomponents), enabled green components are enabled in both phones

runtime permissions:

enabledComponents:
androidx.work.impl.background.systemalarm.RescheduleReceiver

How can I fix this disabled component androidx.work.impl.background.systemalarm.SystemAlarmService??
This disabled component isn't present in dump file from standby working phone with expressvpn
Thanks a lot
Hello,
I got the following phone:
Moto G Pure | 2021 | 2-Day battery | Unlocked | Made for US by Motorola | 3/32GB | 13MP Camera | Deep Indigo
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BTB5MKT/
It has an Android 11 installed. The phone is typically connected to the local WiFi network and can reach 300mbps download/20mbps upload speeds when running the speedtest app.
I noticed that sometimes (once every few days or couple of weeks) the phone stops reacting to downloading new data from the internet.
So If I try to go to chrome browser and load a page, it would load the page forever. The WiFi icon will still show as it's connected to the WiFi and connected to the network. If I try to do a speedtest, the app would be stuck and not start downloading everything.
If I try to toggle the WiFi on and off, or use the cellular it doesn't seem to resolve the issue always, typically this would require a reboot of the phone.
I also noticed that sometimes this issue is even worst, when the cellular would stop working too, so if I send text messages to the phone, and go to the messages app, the new messages wouldn't show, neither the cellular internet would work or it will be really slow.
One time, I ran into this issue with the "internet freeze" when I configured a VPN (software-defined mesh virtual private network), and I set the VPN to always be on in settings, the internet still worked, but when I tried to reboot the phone, although the VPN got automatically connected as expected after reboot, it went into the "internet freeze", and only way I was able to resolve it is when I turned the VPN off. Still, the VPN by itself shouldn't be an issue with the internet still working, as evident when I turned on the VPN when the internet was already working and no problem there, but somehow the turn VPN always might have been the trigger point to the get "internet freeze" issue. Previous times the issue happened, I didn't run any VPNs so I'm suspecting there could be multiple trigger points that could cause this issue.
When I spoke with Motorola tech support, there wasn't really much troubleshooting other than making sure the software is up to date and keeping track of when the issue happens or how often. They did show me how to generate a bug report, so when the issue happens again, I could send it to them for further investigation. I was able to get bug report when the issue happened today - Actually Android automatically identified that there was an issue and generated the report. I know it might have some private sensitive information so I might not want to share it, but are there parts in it that I could safely share? For example, in the file dumpstate_log.txt when I search for the word "wifi" I can see this message repeatedly:
######################################################################
Warning: Skipping "[email protected]::ISupplicant/default": cannot be fetched from service manager (null)
and similar messages to it such as:
Warning: Skipping "[email protected]::IAllocator/ashmem": cannot be fetched from service manager (null)

Here are some other suspicious lines:

Is there anything in particular in the log I should look for? I see there are additional folders such as FS, lshal-debug, proto.
I'm mostly interested to know what causes the phone to go into "internet freeze" issue - How can this issue be prevented all together, is there some setting or something? Is this a common issue with this phone or with Android? Did this happen with your phone too?
Thanks.
