Hi,
I just bought the XDA 2 from Singapore, and also bought the bluetooth gps haicom, I tested and it works, now I need to buy the software, does anyone can confirm me whether "navigator turn by turn" from magellan works (compatible) with PPC 2003 phone edition, since I live in australia I might thinking to buy that software.
I did contact the magellan, they're not sure too whether its going to work on XDA 2 PPC 2003, but they said it works on PPC 2002.
Anyone can help me, pleaseeee??????
I would be if anyone can help me????

Hey 'igadget'
Portugal is covered & if the coverage is as good as Spain then you should have no problems. The software loads through your laptop but does not function as a mapping programme for it. Use MS Autoroute 2004 a very good navigator (without speech) for 13 countries available from Amazon. good luck!
Hi all,
I can not seem to find out if Tomtom (wired) will work with the XDA2. I currently run Tomtom on an Ipaq 3950 and wish to upgrade to an XDA2 but cannot find a cable to do this. Expansys sell an XDA cable http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=TT_NAVCABXDA
but cannot find out if it will work with the XDA2. They seem unsure of this.
Can anyone PLEASE confirm if Tomtom will work with this cable, and if not how I will be able to connect. Would love to know as I can't wait to buy a XDA2.
Cheers
I emailed tomtom and they informed me that the cable for XDA and XDAA II are the same as I was in the same situation upgrading from Ipaq, so I ordered the cable from TomTom direct and received it in 4 days and it works a treat with no problems what so ever
Thanks for your help lankydwarf. Your a star.
Thats greatly appreciated.
Hi,
I'm considering purchasing an Magician (XDA Mini) but one of the reasons for doing so is to use a program called Memory Map (www.memory-map.co.uk) combined with a GPS receiver to go walking/cycling with.
Does anyone know if the memory map software works? It claims to be compatible with "Any Pocket PC that uses the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 or Windows Mobile 2003 or later." but I'm not 100% convinced that this includes the phone version... no one in the highstreet phone shops can answer this question and I would like to be sure before shelling out on a new phone!
FYI: memory map do a free 30 day trial, so if you're interested you could always try it out and let me know....
Thank you
yes it should work ok with the mini
works fine on my Blueangel, so I can't see why it wouldn't work on magician.
Works fine on my MDA Compact
It works!
Excellent, I'll be getting one then.... just got to wait 2 weeks for my orange contract to run out - what a long 2 weeks they are going to be!
Thanks all for your replies.
Cheers
Glyn.
To All
I’ve been using the HOLUX gr 230 for more than a year in my XDA II using Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 with Destinator 3.075.
I never had any problems using it.
Last month I bought an i-mate JasJar that comes with original Mobile 5.0.
The Bluetooth seems to work fine because I’m using a Jabra 250V and if I turn it off and turn it on again, Windows recognize that the Jabra is on and work fine.
As you see in “display_2.bmp”, HOLUX work fine in the JasJar, with Destinator 3.075 see on “display_5.bmp”.
But, if I turn off and on again, It appears a message on the display: Cannot open the COMPORT as you can see on “display_1.bmp”.
Why it appears a “?” on the left side of HOLUX? (as you can see on “display_3.bmp”).
It the “display_4.bmp” you can see the HOLUX is working in COM 4.
Have somebody already tested HOLUX GR 230 on a i-Mate JasJar, or similar product using Windows Mobile 5.0?
Best regards,
Jose
This might be a slightly 'dumb' question, but - how did u manage to work fine with WM5 for a year, when it only came out officially just a few weeks back?
IF u did actually use WM5, and not something else branded as such (and I am giving u the benefit of my doubts here) - then MAYBE it was an unofficial and/or unfinished product/version, which might explain your current problems.
I have just bought the Holux 236 which I assume uses the same drivers as the 230, and also had some troubles, but haven't really manged to find time to deal with it yet - If I have any solutions in the near future I will let you know.
Good Luck!

Hi
Left the xda scene a while back but now have an o2 xda mini s. which i think is the 'wizard' on its way to me.
Does anyone know if it is compatible with tomtom navigator 5 ? the gps thing should be but i'm not sure if the OS will run the software.
Also does anyone know of any tomtom alternative that costs less?
cheers
yes it runs tomtom (5.21) perfectly. i would not recommend anything else really, its so good. the new copilot (ver 6) is supposed to be ok though, not sure if its any cheeper though. you can get tomtom pretty cheeply though if you hunt around.
I don't really know if I can say this on the forum....
But...search around on usenet and p2p networks and you'll should find TT5 and everything you need there.

Check PM's
Is there any costs after tomtom is installed?
Im thinking grps etc. I presume it will be like being onnected to the internet and could use up a lot?
there is no GPRS use if you do not subscribe to any extra service.
