Hey 'igadget'
Portugal is covered & if the coverage is as good as Spain then you should have no problems. The software loads through your laptop but does not function as a mapping programme for it. Use MS Autoroute 2004 a very good navigator (without speech) for 13 countries available from Amazon. good luck!

Thinking of going to Thailand this year for me hollerdays and i got to thinking
How much easyer it would be with a TomTom map of Thailand.
Do any of you know if one is out there ?
If not, is there ANY navigator maps of thailand for other Navigator software
Like NavMan etc etc ?
if theres not any actual maps for a gps program.
is there any way to use a gps plotter with a paper map ?
i dunno, other than tomtom nav 2 and uk map im new to this lark
hey,
i'm based in thailand and quite recently i bought this navigator software to pair up with my gps and xda2. it's called thainav (tomtom), costs a bundlebut it's quite handy. it's not really available in just any it store; i had to go to this place called panthip plaza which is famous for pc-pda stuff. drawback? finding the place, traffic is hell (i was stuck on one intersection for like 50 minutes) and not being duped. the disadvantage of being a foreigner here is the sellers immediately jack up the price 50-100% up. in my opinion i paid wayyyy more than what it's really worth, but i had to make sure that the map worked and that it wasn't in thai as well. i was able to haggle for the price, but again not much because of the language barrier.

anyone got navngo to work on the wizard ?
I had the std sd version. copied it to minisd and used a hack I found (ahem!) to get by the security encoding.
It installs now and loads up, but after staying on the menu screen for a few seconds it crashes out !!!
Any use this, and is it a WM5 or a Wizard issue ?
rgds
i think the problem is that the NAV N GO doesnt know what MINI-SD card is.
since this NAVNGO Software workds great on the Jasjar.
Nadav.
I don't think the minisd card is anything to do with it. navngo told me themselves that it will work fine on minisd and that they will transfer it for 60 nis. I am just worried that there is something wrong with the wizard. however its good to know that it is working ok on your jasjar, obviously wm5 is not a problem.
Where did you purchase this from? I can only find Israeli sites with NavnGo. I found references that NavnGo is actually iGo (http://www.i-go.com) but there is no information of where this software is available.
It looks pretty good though.

Nadav,
You say Nav N Go works perfect on JasJar. Which GPS receiver are you using ? I have the one from TOMTOM SIRF III and am not able to make a connection to the GPS receiver..

navngo is a pretty cool gps nav system specialising in multilingual implementations. it has all the latest stuff like 3d, night view, etc.
Due to its roots it is currently only targeted at the following countries:
1. Hungary
2. Israel
3. Romania
4. Slovenia
I believe the team are currently working on a pan-european version to compete with tom tom
In terms of the questions above. I have always found the navngo team very helpful. If you email them they will take 3-4 days to reply but will normally always do so.

colonel, where did you purchase your copy from? I can't find it for sale anywhere.
I purchased it from a bug retail store in Israel. The central european version can be purchased in computer retail stores. Some details are here:

Hi
Left the xda scene a while back but now have an o2 xda mini s. which i think is the 'wizard' on its way to me.
Does anyone know if it is compatible with tomtom navigator 5 ? the gps thing should be but i'm not sure if the OS will run the software.
Also does anyone know of any tomtom alternative that costs less?
cheers
yes it runs tomtom (5.21) perfectly. i would not recommend anything else really, its so good. the new copilot (ver 6) is supposed to be ok though, not sure if its any cheeper though. you can get tomtom pretty cheeply though if you hunt around.
I don't really know if I can say this on the forum....
But...search around on usenet and p2p networks and you'll should find TT5 and everything you need there.

Check PM's
Is there any costs after tomtom is installed?
Im thinking grps etc. I presume it will be like being onnected to the internet and could use up a lot?
there is no GPRS use if you do not subscribe to any extra service.
TomTom is the roxs, I know, but hard to find illegit version to test b4 i buy.
I will try Iguidance, but not sure if North America is supported or works on MDA.
Igo, Navigon, Route 66 are all European.
GPS business in the USA looks like TomTom is the only option but again i dont wanna buy it b4 i test it. If anyone can give me opinions to how it well or poorly it works, that would be awesome!!
ALSO i will be using it with a 16channel Bluetooth GPS reciever.
hopefully the above coverd all the q's if you have any for me let me know.. ALSO i did all the searching and finding. Majority of hits were European, that's y i made the post silly!
Brit,
PS, if you have Tomtom 5.00 PLS if you can email me the software, my BF has all the USA maps, but his software is 5.21 and they wont read on 5.00 and his passcode is already used up for 5.21 upgrade
Also the MDA is a PPC or WM5? This GPS thing is getting really confusing for me. Some say PPC is not wm5 and other say ppc is wm5.
Will Iguidance work on my Mda???? it's compatible with ppc's!
Sorry for sounding so dumb but stuff like sthis ticks me off.
I'm using Iguidance 3.0 and bluetooth gps (don't buy expensive gps because it doesn't make much difference, mine is only $59).And setup is very easy with mda. I hope this helps.
I use iGuidance with NA maps on the MDA and it works just fine. I didn't much care for TomTom at all. I understand iGuidance's speech is slow because of some interaction with ActiveSync but I also understand that it's being worked on and it doesn't really take away from the functionality at all. I use it with a Holux GPSlim 236 via bluetooth without any problems.
Sweeet.. I guess ill pull the trigger on Iguidance then.. I bought a cheap bluetooth receiver from fleabay.. it's not brand name or anything, but it was an impulse buy @ any rate.. we'll see how it goes.
Iguidance looks like the Honda/Acura Navigation rite. From the top not Angled like Tomtom?
Alos has Day and Night feature?
Brit
Re: Which GPS software Works Well with USDM MDA and in the U
IMHO, Mapopolis ( http://www.mapopolis.com ) may serve your purpose better. The map is more up-to-date than TomTom's, and you can try it for free for a couple of days. However, Mapopolis does lack some good features of TomTom, like 3-D view.

PPC Is pocket pc wm5 is the operating system
i got tom tom and Iguidance working! both look good!
i just have to wait and test it with the gps reciever that i bought. but I may just go out and purchase tomtom b/c many recommend it..
Im using I-go with the american states maps. I like it alot. You can "find" a "test copy" of it on the web with very little searching along with all the north american maps.
I like that it has overhead view, 3d view, night mode, instant re-routing if you miss a turn, voice commands with different voice packs, a ton of usa points of interest and lots of other features. The maps are more current then tomtom also.
YG-PM!
YG-PM!
Guess what.. I got my gps receiver today. YAY!!!!!!
this is what i did:
1. Turn Bluetooth ON
2. put the gps in pairing mode
3. Click on new partnership
4. It find teh gps and give it "xyz-gps"
5. I give the gps outgiong port "com 6"
@ this point the gps in bt setting has a big yellow circle with a question mark next to it.
so i go to Iguidance and tomtom 5 none of them will detect the gps reciever. SOO frustrated rite now. bout to throw Wizard and gps out the window!!! not really but u can imagine my frustration.
I wil try to use the Search function, but if anyone can help me out that would be AWESOME!!
Let me knwo if im doing something incorrectly... most likely i am!
Brittany S. :?:
NVM, I got Iguidance to work, but tomtom5 is still being a pain
Good evening,
I Have a Ipaq 1940 PDA with windows mobile 3. On the site of Igo thay say that IGO works on this PDA. I have also TOMTOM and this works fine but IGO will not find mij GPS Module( a tomtom gps Bluetooth Module).
Does anybody know what to do about it
Blaauw
Sorry blaauw, I can't help, but I'm interested in where you can buy I-Go as I'm looking for an alternative to upgrading my TomTom to v6 for my Universal. Their website doesn't seem to offer a buy facility.

Personally I wouldn't do that as a UK resident. IGO is very pretty and has nice features, but compared to Tomtom it's routing abilities leave a lot to be desired. I've currently got both IGO and Tomtom on my Universal.
IGO can be fun, because I drive a 4x4 and I like thundering down tiny tracks half covered in mud, but for the majority of time in sat nav use, I want to use real roads.
IGO is king in some countries where Tomtom has poor or non-existant coverage, but in the UK considering IGO as an upgrade to Tomtom will leave you dissapointed.
Check your GPS settings, IGO cannot see the GPS if it is set to COM0:, COM1 - 8 should be OK.
