This just began to happen last week. The phone is doing a soft reset, after being off for a while. It happens quite frequently:
I am running :
OS: A.30.09 Eng
Radio: 6.24.01
Default config and applications
Any one else experiencing this issue? I searched the posts and did not get a hit...
Check this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=5156&highlight=

I had the same problem... I just called t-mobile and got a warranty replacement and it stopped happening.
john - did you restore your OS and Radio Stack before sending it in?
After reading the post I realized that my holster is pushing against the SIM compartment and causing it to reset.
I have the extra battery, which makes the SIM unacessible!
Thank you for the post!

Hello,
I have a T-Mobile MDA Compact (UK) that I got several months ago. The details of the device are:
ROM Version: 1.01.00 WWE
ROM Date: 10/21/04
Radio Version: 1.00.10
Protocol Version: 1337.36
ExtROM Version: 1.01.128 WWE
Firstly I havent; installed ANY software on this, apart from whats already on it and I have given it a hard reset (re-installed everything) once and the problem
still occurs.
=== THE PROBLEM =========
This doesn;t happen everytime I receive a call, but it happens often enough to become very annoying.
If I receive a call from someone at a certain point and then after the conversation I press the red hang up button the phone screen loses its little "X" in the
top right of the screen. This then prevents me from leaving the phone call screen.
Press the red hang up button again or holding it down doesn;t return me to the today screen neither, Ive tried pressing every combo of buttons the the thing and
it stays on that screen.
To fix it I have to do a soft reset and reboot the damn phone, which is annoying.
It was happening a lot before I done the hard reset, after I reset it didn't happen for a while so I thought it was fixed, but its started doing again now... and
doing it too often for my liking now.
The only thing I have done is install a new theme... could it have anything to do with that? If not what could it be?
T-Mobile UK havent released an update for the MDA Compact yet, but there is one on the german T-Mobile site... but I dont want to risk installing that... or could
I?
Any help you can give will be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve McKeogh
I've seen a number of probs with different Compacts but never heard of that one before. It's not something I've experienced on my own one either, which leads me to think it may be a fault on your handset. I have something similar when I use my camera occasionally but I put that down to mucking around with software updates, but if you haven't changed anything I'd go with a fault. It can go for repair under warranty, which means they'll probably do a complete software upgrade or exchange the unit, so make sure all your important stuff is backed up before you do.
I tend to agree with the Bulletman. I had the exact same problem with 2 brand new xda IIi's and returned them (o2 not happy!). i did however find that when I installed SPB pocket plus 3.0 , which does shut down the phone dialler/application properly, that that problem was resolved.
Still I concur that it's most likely a hardware issue as I still had poor reception, poor call quality and consequently lost calls! Get it repaired or replaced if you can. My current MDA Compact never does this and it has all the original Rom and software on it, but works flawlessly, hence I've never upgraded.
If it ain't broke why fix it?
i noticed your rom is 1.01, ever throught of upgrading to 1.12 WWE?
Hi

i have removed everythin from it..yet it is having the problem!
It doesnt harm anything but its really irritating when you are working and it restarts or when you turn it on you see it had tunred off and is restarting....
i have even tryed hard reset but even that dint work..

PLease Help!
As i can't find any reason for it...
Did this start after a ROM update?
i never had a ROM UPDATE
Did you drop it by accident?
Have tried hard-resetting it (power & soft-reset), backup first

I encounter this before
1. restart randomly
2. hard reset randomly
3. phone receive no signal
later i found out all these symptoms was due to faulty battery packs. I have 3 battery, & 2 of it provides such problem. And these 2 are new batteries
amazingly my original battery still works fine thou it only last a day.
If your set still covered by warranty, send it back. Who knows you might have some battery pins problem instead of the battery itself or the mainboard itself is faulty.
Good luck
may be u r rite..... but i dont think so.....
i guess will have to submit it at the repair centre then
this happens to me also - the resetting just started a couple of months ago. I am using an xda mini, on which I did a bigstorage update last year some time.
I'm on rom 1.11 (date 3/14/05) and radio 1.11
Suppose I would like to update that some time, but... I've moved to Mac and my pc is all dusty! haha.
Anyway, I want to send the xdamini off under warranty, but I'm not sure if it will be a problem that I have Big-Storaged it? Should I try to clear the bigstorage and get it back to original state first, or will they not mind that it has a big storage rom version. I've got a couple of months warranty left.
thanks...
This may sound really basic, but I had similar problem with my imate jam, and it all came down to a loose battery cover. For some stupid reason the jam shuts off power when the cover is removed even before the battery is removed.
the clips on the back cover press against a contact which fires up the jam. My loose back cover was constantly cutting off power and then reconnecting. Just a thought.
Hi people!
Problem with the 9000th is the following:
After installing yesterday the SPB Pocket Plus 3.1.2 app my device began to hopelessly hang every time on “switch on”: white screen, collage. I’m dead tired to soft reset it each time.
And this morning something terrible happened. I found the device not breathing (both BT and cell network side diodes weren’t alight), “switch on” button didn’t react. Just after plugging to the charger the device started to load in boot safety mode. After that same hanging continued.
Yesterday night the battery was charged to 80% and this morning I found it at 2%.
I made a back-up and now ready for the operation.
Is there a clear solution for my case? Do I need to take the device to morgue (SC) or could I try to operate it in home conditions through hard-reset and installing later ROM version?
Please advise!
Thanks in advance.
Qtek 9000
Rom version: 1.13.64 WWE
Rom date: 09/30/05
Radio version: 1.03.00
Protocol version: 42.36.P8
ExtRom version: 1.13.151 WWE
It sounds like your device hung and rather than just switch off, it kept running, draining the battery.
You should definitely upgrade the ROM - it's easy to do and you can get the files from the ftp site here or from myqtek.com but I wouldn't have thought your device is broken.
Upgrading the ROM is really easy but will wipe your device so I hope you had your info sync'd!
Either way, everyone on here can usually sort any woes you may have
Oh, and welcome, btw
Lordsmiff.
Thanks for a valuable advice.
Ok, I will consider an upgrade, though people at our domestic qtek-mobile forum do not advise to upgrade the ROM saying that in many cases of upgrading to 1.30.70 from AKU2 the device died completely.
Syncing is another issue but not for this time
And thanks for a warm welcome
Nik
OK Nik got your problem last week even after the rom update. Basically I was never able to run properly Spb Pckt + on my qtek 9000.
I thus decided to use Ilauncher for a while and now definitely turned to Resco Today Plugin whic is the most proficient task manager, even though it is poor in options and aesthetics. I made that choice combining it with magic button to close apps and I'm pretty set.
Moreover, Resco saves 45% more memory than any other launcher......
Now you now...
Cheers

Tried to look for this issue, but couldn't so I post it now.
Have the weird issue of after having Hard-Reset my TyTn the Stylo is usable for some minutes, after that...no more. Have to shutdown and restart, or reset...
I did the HardReset as the touchscreen didn't react anymore to pressure.
I have all the original features...
ROM 1.18.255.3
date 07/22/06
Radio Version 1.03.03.10
Protocol version: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM version: 1.18.255.106
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Just for clarity, can we assume all the other buttons/keys continue to work normally when this happens?

I don't think I can help you but the more information we have the more likely someone will have a suggestion.
1. Did this only start after you did a hard reset?
2. Can we be sure the screen is totally unresponsive and not just misaligned to the things you are tapping? i.e. normally if the stylus is held on the screen a moving circle of dots appears - does this happen or not?
Mike
I am really hoping someone will...
1. No, I did the Hard Reset because of the non-responsivness of the stylus.
2. No circle, no action...nothing.
Sometimes, as I mentioned before, I have some minutes of Stylus action... after resetting. But after some time it is gone.
Any ideas please??
bernardo
Hi Bernardo,
All I can suggest is to make sure there is nothing around the edge of the screen causing pressure. Take a piece of thin card (like a business card) and run a corner around the outside (under the plastic edge of the screen) to see if this helps.
It sounds HW related. If a hard reset or flashing with another ROM doesn't fix it then send it for repair.

Passing the card
Nah...doesn't work anyway...
I have no time to send it to repair!!! Leave to India Tuesday.
Really...we get attached to these things.
Upgrading Rom, etc....should I really get into that??
Hi again Bernardo,
With any problem it can be HW or SW, flashing the ROM will either fix it, showing it was a SW problem or won't showing it's a HW one. The HW ones, unless you know how are not worth trying to fix if the phone is in warranty.
Gav.
Meaning for the SW case I have to get myself into the ROM flashing thing...I didn't do with this one ever...
Have to read all about it ha? and ...oh don't know what to do.
Can you forward me the direct link for the most actual ROM? Hope to get it well.
Thanks Gav.
Spoke to someone technical about the problem with screen alignment going wacky 3-5 times a day. He said the system files are probably corrupt and to do a Hard Reset. Told him I had upgraded ROM and wondered if that could have affected my 8125. Nope. His solution was to ship back to HTC or go to Cingular where they would reinstall Cingular ROM, as this is a low level problem and flashing ROM wouldn't fix the problem since the files are Cingulars. Sort of like reflashing BIOS on a PC, really low level.
Is this info correct? Phone is SIM/CID unlocked. Can the basic ROM be changed? I have already applied a ROM update to IPL/SPL and radio. I am using Suncom (not Cingular) and would love to get rid of Cingular splash screen and stuff.
Anyways, Hard Reset and reinstalled everything. 5 days now and 8125 has not gone out of alignment.
Thanks all.
