OK, it's time for some stupid questions:
Can I connect the XDA1 directly to a LAN to access the internet? Can I buy a "network" card for the XDA1?
Can I access the internet directly from XDA1 connected to LAN attached PC via ActiveSync?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
yup, you can use your XDA to Internet via ActiveSync....
no LAN card for XDA as there is no SDIO.
or else, GPRS or dialup is your other options.
A company called Portsmith sell an Ethernet Adapter (MobileDox) which you can connect to XDA 1 using a serial 'hot-sync' cable.

When I used PDAs (dell x50v) i was able to browse the internet automatically with my pda when it is connected via USB cable (with ActiveSync), but with the JAM... i don't know how to do it, do I need to configure something ? Or is it just not possible to do so?
open ActivSync, under Tools-->Options menu, go to RULES tab & the alst section PASS THROUGH, choose THE INTERNET from the drop-down list & click OK
now, if you are connecting to the Internet using a proxy server, then specify that server address & ports in the connection settings.
Cheeeeeeeers
I know that using Wmodem I can use the 8525 to connect my laptop to the internet through the Cingular data network.
But I have an old laptop that doesn't have an in-built wireless card.
Can I use the 8525 to connect my laptop to my home WiFi network ?
I guess no, there is no way to connect wifi card in tytn (TIACXWLN1) to PC, and also driver should be problem... maybe is a way to route internet throught NAT or somethink like that to USB port and Active sync with speciall program written for WM5/6, but I never heard about that.

Try unchecking the "Advanced Features" of the USB connection.
Hi,what about if i want my pc to use the wifi of my ppc?not gprs, i just want my computer connect to ppc and use it as the wireless adapter.
Connect laptop and use GRPS Internet using USB
I want to browse the Internet connecting the PDA through USB and using the PDAs GPRS connection? Please help
I have a problem. ...well i have many, but this specifically -
I currently have a wirelss broadband router which sends the internet to the pc and the blackstone... but i cant figure out a way of connecting the pc to the blackstone wirelessly..... currently I have to access my pc with the usb cable....which is annoying....
my pc has asus wifi solo...
is there a way... ?
What excactly do you want to connect. ActiveSync isn't able to deal WiFi connections since a few versions, as this was mentioned to be a security issue.
If your HD is able to connect to the internet through your router, you have a valid connection, but you this doesn't mean that you can just access your HD with the explorer, or whatever you are supposed to do.
oh....so i cant connect to the blackstone with the pc through the broadband router...shame.... i could switch the pc wireless adapter to send mode to connect to the blackstone....but that would mean losing the internet whilst i did this..... how frustrating!!!

Actually this wouldn't bring any advantage. You have a valid IP connection between your HD and your PC, but you also need some services like FTP, HTTP, or whatever.
What about Remote Desktop to your PC?
Hi,
I am new to windows environment .
I want to access internet on HTC HD2 using my laptop’s internet connection.
My laptop is connected to the network and I access internet on it using the proxy which is configured in my browser’s configuration.
I can connect my HD2 using usb as well as wireless to my laptop by making wireless connection on my laptop as wireless router.
What additional configuration should be done on hd2 or xp so that I can update my weather updates using this link.
Regards

you can set in the activesync or windows mobile center settings, to enable the data connection in usb connect
I found a fix which made my internet connection through USB work:
- Open Registry Editor on your PC (Start/Run and type "regedit") and locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services.
- Right-click on the value list in the right site of window and choose New/DWORD value. Type the name "AllowLSP" and leave the value zero.
- Disconnect and connect your device and Pocket Internet Explorer (and all other applications) will start working.
thanks jawab for your reply.
i updated my registry in xp with the changes you suggested but no success.
i am able to connect to my laptop with usb as well as wireless. even i am able to get remote desktop on my hd2 but not internet.
can you please suggest something.

I'm sorry. For me I made the reg-change, connected the phone and wupti - there was internet through USB.
why not just connect your phone to your router via WiFi and use the internet that way? makes life a LOT easier
in my office my laptop is connected to wired network. there is no wireless
the only option for me to connect is using a USB connection or making my laptop as a wireless router.
both of them seem to be not working
